By purchasing wallpaper, you are already planning to stick them on a subconscious level. you pick in your mind essential tool, think over the processes of pasting the walls and present the final result. We would like to tell you more about some of the tools that you may find useful in your work.

Wallpaper tool

Knife and scissors

We will not dwell on the choice of wallpaper and glue, this is a long and painful process that everyone who wants to make repairs at home has to go through. It is only worth noting that the glue must be chosen under the type of wallpaper.

For example, if you settled on wallpaper with a non-woven backing, then the glue must be appropriate. If you have paper wallpaper, then glue is recommended for paper wallpaper.

Wallpaper and glue are ready to go, print the rolls and cut the wallpaper into pieces of a certain length. To do this, we need a knife or scissors. Later, you will have to cut the wallpaper on the wall, so it is better to choose a simple construction knife with replaceable break-off blades. It is sharp enough to cut wallpaper, but once dull, the blade can be easily changed or broken off.

Modern knife with breakable blades

There are special wallpaper knives with a long, wide and blunt blade, but they are very impractical and can only be used correctly by professional craftsmen, if we glue the wallpaper with our own hands, we do not need them.

Scissors will be required for accurate cutting of wallpaper in difficult places, the area of \u200b\u200bswitches, sockets. Scissors will fit the simplest.

Roller and brush

The wallpaper is cut into pieces of a certain length and ready to be glued. Now we will apply wallpaper glue to the canvas, this will require a roller or brush.

If you want to use a roller, choose the foam option, because it will apply glue to flat surface very easy. If this is not the case, others will do: artificial or natural fur, velor, artificial wool. The roller can be purchased at any hardware store, this is not a scarce product. The cost of different manufacturers is not much different, and the quality too.

Roller with velor coat

However, recently all stores sell it already assembled, although from the point of view of practicality it is better to buy in parts: a handle (byugel) and a fur coat. Subsequently, spare parts are changed if necessary.

When using a roller to apply glue to the wallpaper, it will be convenient to pre-roll it in a special tray, since it will not fit into every bucket. Such a bath is available in most stores, it has a special compartment where you can roll the roller, saturate it with glue. Even ready-made sets are sold, consisting of a bath and a roller.

Set: bath and foam roller

It is also convenient to apply glue to the wallpaper with a brush. To do this, it is recommended to choose any brush, the pile of which does not climb. Whether the brush has natural bristles or not, it doesn't matter to us.

Brushes with a lot of bristles show themselves well, they are called maklovits. Unlike flute - narrow, they have 8-10 rows of pile. Choose a wider flat brush, preferably 75-100mm.

You may need a narrow brush to coat the wallpaper in hard-to-reach places where the roller does not fit in any way, this moment must also be foreseen.

Spatulas

The simplest but most convenient wallpaper spatula

If you are used to smoothing the wallpaper with a regular rag or brush, then this is also the right approach. We need dry rags to wipe the wallpaper and remove glue residue.

Some masters use a rubber roller to smooth the wallpaper, its fur coat is soft, made of rubber. However, a certain amount of experience in construction work is required to use this tool.

To work with wallpaper joints, there is a special small roller that allows you to roll the joint seam, thereby getting rid of excess glue.

Roller for rolling wallpaper joints

For cutting in hard-to-reach places, an ordinary metal spatula is useful, which is very convenient to fence off an unnecessary edge. After you have separated the unnecessary part of the wallpaper, we cut it off easily and evenly with a knife.

Use the spatula very carefully so as not to damage the decorative part of the wallpaper.

Ladder

If you have high ceilings, then you should take care of the normal comfortable means for working at height. from a stool or chair carries with it many difficulties and can be dangerous. While a normal stepladder will greatly facilitate your entire workflow.

Choose aluminum ladders, iron ones are hard to move, dragging it back and forth throughout the wallpapering, you will definitely get very tired.

A low stepladder that is easy to use at home

For successful wallpapering, you will additionally need:

  • a plumb line or level to evenly beat off the vertical line, relative to which gluing will be performed;
  • pencil or marker to make marks on the walls;
  • tape measure, for a clear marking of pieces of wallpaper and walls;
  • a container for mixing glue, preferably with a lid, in case you have to leave the glue ready;
  • a stick for mixing glue, or a special mixer worn on a drill;
  • duct tape and a screwdriver to ensure safety in places where sockets and switches are present, especially if you are not going to completely de-energize the room.

If you have all the listed tools available, then with a high degree of probability wallpapering will be successful. Perhaps we are unnecessarily focusing on simple and understandable things, but you can simply forget about them. If something from our list is not there, then try to find it so as not to complicate your work.

Today, paper wallpapers are still leaders in sales due to their undeniable merits. They are environmentally friendly, so they allow the walls to breathe, do not emit unpleasant odors. The existing huge selection of various colors and the low cost of this material can satisfy the taste of the most demanding customer.

Knowing how to use paper correctly, any non-lazy owner can quite cope with this task without resorting to the help of professionals. This will become even easier if you take into account some advice from builders on how to get the job done right so that you can admire the pasted walls for a long time.

Wall preparation

The quality of pasting it with wallpaper largely depends on how scrupulously the surface of the wall is prepared. First you need to remove all old coatings. First, they peel off dry, and what remains must be wetted with water and scraped off with a spatula.

It is better to wet the wallpaper with a brush with natural bristles. The paper surface is slightly damaged, which makes it easier to absorb water. It makes no sense to buy advertised special gels and solutions for this purpose. As practice shows, the result from them is no more than from ordinary warm water. You need to remove old wallpaper very carefully, all without residue. Otherwise, when applying a new coating, the remaining pieces move away from the wall, forming bubbles. The remains of the wallpaper from the floor must be removed immediately, before they have time to dry.

After cleaning the wall, you need to carefully putty all the bumps and cracks.

How to cut wallpaper correctly

It is very important to properly cut (cut) them before. If they do not require the selection of a pattern, then the desired length of the strip is simply unwound from the roll and cut. This must be done face down, leaving a small allowance for trimming. If the wallpaper has a pattern, it is necessary to select adjacent strips so that the pattern on them matches. It is very important to unwind the roll in the same direction. The cutting surface must be clean and level.

Holding the cut, you need to push the roll, unwinding the web to the desired length. Then measure the exact length with a tape measure and make a mark with a pencil. After that, you should bend the strip, combining the sides and smoothing out the bend, along which the incision is made in the future. It is necessary to fold the canvas with a pattern down. To prevent the wallpaper from deforming under its own weight, the number of strips in a stack should not exceed ten pieces.

Glue application

Adhesive is selected accordingly. Usually, the brand of recommended adhesive is indicated on the instructions for gluing. A heavy coating, for example, requires the use of a special compound designed specifically for this type of material.

How to glue paper wallpapers correctly so that you do not have to re-paste them later? It is very important here to properly prepare the adhesive composition. Dry glue is diluted in water at room temperature. To do this, in a plastic bucket or basin, you need to create a whirlpool with a brush on a long handle and gradually pour glue into the resulting funnel, without ceasing to mix thoroughly.

Dilution of glue in cold water may result in lumps. And too warm water will affect the quality of the glue, besides, when applying a warm composition, the wallpaper can get wet and spread at the seams after drying.

If the base of the wallpaper is paper, then the glue should be applied directly to the canvas, leaving it for a while to allow it to soak. The swelling time depends on the thickness of the wallpaper and is usually indicated on their packaging. Heavier varieties require more time to soak. Experienced craftsmen know how to properly glue paper wallpapers: this always requires very great care, because such wallpapers are not durable and wear-resistant. With the slightest careless movement, they can break.

It is much easier to glue non-woven fabrics in this case, it is applied not to the canvas, but directly to the wall. To do this, you can use a roller or a wide brush.

How to glue paper wallpaper

It is recommended to start gluing wallpaper from the corner closest to the window. And you need to do this not from the very corner. At the beginning, it is necessary to draw a pencil at a small distance from it using a level and a ruler. vertical stripe along the entire wall. It is from this feature that gluing should begin. What is the best way to glue paper wallpaper? It is much more convenient to do this together, when one on a stepladder aligns the upper part of the canvas, and the second makes sure that the edge of the strip is aligned with the vertical line drawn. If by chance on front side wallpaper gets glue, it must be immediately wiped with a dry soft cloth.

It is recommended to remove the plinth before pasting the walls, if possible. Many people know how to glue paper wallpaper correctly. However, the presence of sockets and switches on the wall can create certain difficulties. Before starting work, such elements must be removed, without forgetting to de-energize the room. Wallpaper is glued directly to the hole for the outlet, and then a neat cut is made in this place. When the work is completed, sockets and switches are installed in place.

Features of gluing duplex wallpaper

Duplex wallpapers are classified as heavy, so they require the use of a specialized adhesive designed specifically for such a coating. They consist of several layers of paper and are coated on top. special composition which protects them from the damaging effects of the external environment. Such wallpaper can be used even in rooms with high humidity. Having a rather large thickness, they can perfectly hide all the bumps and defects in the wall surface. Often the canvas is long time stand for impregnation with glue before sticking it on the wall.

There are no special recommendations on how to properly glue duplex paper wallpapers. The principle of pasting remains the same. The canvas, smeared with glue, is applied with its upper end to the wall, its edge is aligned along the drawn vertical line, after which it is carefully ironed with a roller or a dry cloth. Smoothing movements should be done in the direction from the center to the edge of the strip, achieving tight adhesion and the absence of air bubbles.

Embossed wallpaper has a relief pattern, which is created using special rollers with high pressure on the paper. Due to this texture, it is easy to hide all the roughness and unevenness of the wall. Since embossed wallpapers also belong to the category of heavy ones, for their gluing you will need a special glue, to which you can add more PVA when diluted for reliability.

foam wallpaper

These wallpapers are a type of vinyl and are made by screen printing. They have a slightly rough, gleaming surface, perfectly hide irregularities, do not stretch. There are some features of how to glue paper foam wallpaper. These wallpapers perfectly adhere to any surface, be it plaster or paint. The only exception is a wall covered with lime or whitewash. Glue should be used only specialized, recommended by the manufacturer. Foamed wallpaper is not able to pass moisture, therefore, in order to prevent the appearance of mold, the wall surface should be treated with antifungal impregnation.

Butt wallpapering

This method is the most common, but not everyone knows how to glue paper wallpaper end-to-end correctly. To do this, it is necessary to follow a series important rules. You should start from the corner of the wall on which the window is located. The first strip should be oriented not at an angle, which may turn out to be curved, but at a plumb line or level. Wallpaper may have different characteristics, this must be taken into account. Each next canvas is parallel to the previous one so that the edges touch as tightly as possible.

In this case, you should not immediately glue the strip tightly so that it is possible to correct it in one direction or another. The edges of the strip should be very well smeared with glue. The vertical must be checked after each second strip is pasted.

You can learn from experts how to properly glue paper wallpapers, but you can learn how to do it flawlessly only by experience.

And finally, a few rules that will help to avoid various unpleasant situations when pasting walls. Before carrying out work, turn off the electricity. Windows should be tightly closed to prevent any drafts. The room in which the repair is carried out must be warm and dry.

Wallpapering - simple and cheap way renovation of decoration in any room. But even such a simple task can turn into torment if you do not know all its subtleties. For those who plan to glue vinyl wallpapers, you will have to figure out where to apply the glue - on the canvas or on the wall - what tool to use, how to prepare the surface and how to finish hard-to-reach areas. All this is in our article.

Features of gluing vinyl wallpaper depending on the base material

Vinyl-coated wallpapers can have a paper or non-woven base. Not only the characteristics of the coating, but also the principles of gluing depend on the substrate material.

  1. The adhesive mixture is impregnated with a wall, not a canvas, which simplifies the workflow.
  2. Such a substrate is much stronger than paper, it differs high rates wear resistance, can hide small irregularities and cracks on the walls.
  3. The disadvantages of wallpaper on non-woven fabric include the rigidity of the material. The low plasticity of the panels does not allow fast and efficient trimming of convex sections.
  • Glue is applied not only to the surface of the wall, but also to the canvases themselves.
  • The material stretches well, with its help you can quickly paste over protruding surfaces, such as niches, columns or corners.
  • The disadvantages of vinyl wallpaper on a paper backing include the possibility of breaking the fibers from a slight mechanical impact, increased glue consumption.

Tools and materials for work

For quality performance finishing works in addition to vinyl wallpaper and adhesive composition, you will need the following tools and materials:

  1. Paint brush or soft bristle roller - for applying primer to the base and glue to the wallpaper or wall.
  2. Rubber rollers. A tool with a wide working surface is used for smoothing canvases, a narrow tool for high-quality joining of joints.
  3. Ruler, plumb line, building level, square and pencil - for marking.
  4. Masking tape - to protect individual elements from the ingress of adhesive composition.
  5. Plastic spatula - to remove air bubbles and excess glue.
  6. Sharp stationery knife and scissors - for cutting strips.
  7. Wide metal spatula - for cutting canvases near the ceiling and floor.
  8. Container for adhesive mixture.

Advice! To speed up the work, use an adhesive with an indicator that makes it easy to control the uniformity of applying the mixture to the surface of the walls or canvas.

Surface preparation

Before sticking vinyl wallpaper, the following operations must be carried out:

  • remove the housings of switches and sockets, having previously de-energized the room, seal the sections with masking tape;
  • remove protruding fasteners (dowels, screws, nails);
  • clean the surface of the old coating;
  • repair irregularities with plaster or putty;
  • apply a deep penetration primer to the base and wait for it to dry.

Wallpaper can be glued only on dry and clean walls. Checking the dryness of the base is quite simple. To do this, take a small piece polyethylene film 50 × 50 centimeters and fix it with adhesive tape on the wall so that an airtight space forms inside. A day later, the polyethylene is checked. The drops that have come out indicate that the wall has not dried out.

All the nuances of preparing concrete surfaces for wallpapering are described in detail.

step by step instructions for processing a plasterboard wall or ceiling before pasting with wallpaper can be found in.

Important! Align surfaces for wide meter wallpaper you need to be especially careful, even with small differences, problems may arise with the joining of adjacent lanes.

Making markup

After the preparatory stage, marking is carried out, which allows you to correctly position the canvases on the surface. Mark the walls with a long ruler, chalk and a plumb line.

  • The first line is combined with the edge of the window, gradually moving to the left along the perimeter of the room.
  • Further lines are applied taking into account the width of the wallpaper.
  • From window to left side markings are made to the corner of the wall with a doorway, numbering each of the sections.
  • Next, the lines are applied to the right from the window to the door.

Preparing wallpaper for sticking

Before the main work roll materials cut into strips, the length of which corresponds to the height of the wall plus a margin of 5–10 centimeters. For greater accuracy, the height of the room is checked in different places. If the dimensions match, several strips are cut, the total width of which allows you to cover the entire plane of the wall.

If the ceiling height in the room is not the same, each subsequent strip is cut off after gluing the previous one, or each section between the marking lines is carefully measured before cutting.

We glue vinyl wallpaper: step by step instructions

Work on pasting the wall with vinyl wallpaper is carried out in the following sequence:

  • We dilute the glue according to the instructions on the package. The finished solution should have a uniform consistency without clots and lumps.
  • We tightly close the windows in the room, turn off the air conditioners and fans.
  • Spread glue on the canvas for wallpaper on paper basis or on the wall, if the material is glued on non-woven fabric. In the first case, we fold the canvases with an “envelope” - the edges are aligned with the middle of the strip, and wait 5-10 minutes until the paper layer is saturated with glue. Vinyl on a non-woven base is glued immediately after coating a section of the wall slightly larger than the width of the wallpaper.
  • We apply the prepared strips to the base along the drawn line, joining adjacent elements, taking into account the pattern.
  • With a rubber roller, we smooth the canvas from the middle to the edges, getting rid of bubbles and achieving a perfect fit of the material to the surface. We remove the protruding adhesive residues with a piece of foam rubber or a clean cloth.
  • After drying, the edges of the wallpaper are pressed with a wide metal spatula and cut with a sharp clerical knife.

How to glue wallpaper near window and door openings?

The process of wallpapering near openings causes difficulties for inexperienced craftsmen. The canvases must be joined so that their edges do not fall on the corners of the window or door opening.

If the door is located in the corner of the room, the discrepancy between the patterns on the wallpaper will remain invisible. If door structure located in the center of the room, the pattern should be combined both before the opening and after it.

  • The last canvas is glued in such a way that it can cover the casing.
  • Then the limiting decorative element is fixed and the hanging part of the canvas is cut off with a sharp knife.
  • Next, the wallpaper is smoothed at the joints, as well as between the wall and the casing.
  • A short piece is glued at the top of the door, following the sequence of the pattern.

The procedure for gluing near window openings:

  • The strip is glued so that it covers the slope.
  • At the edges, several horizontal cuts are made that will allow you to bend the wallpaper downhill.
  • The edges of the canvases are trimmed along the border of the opening.
  • After sticking one of the side strips, short cuts of wallpaper are fixed on the upper and lower parts of the opening.
  • After that, proceed to finish the other side of the opening.

Advice. Before wallpapering the second side of the window, apply an additional marking line. This makes it easier to achieve the correct vertical position of the canvas.

How to glue wallpaper in corners and hard-to-reach places?

There are two methods for gluing canvases in the corner of the room: overlap and butt with undercut.

  • In the first case, we glue the strip, making an overlap on another wall 1–2 centimeters. Next, we draw a marking line across the width of the roll on a perpendicular wall and fix the second canvas in such a way that its edge runs strictly along the corner of the room and does not step onto another plane. After that, the wallpaper is gently rolled with a roller.
  • The undercut overlapping method is used to fix heavy vinyl wallpaper with a large pattern. The technology for carrying out work is at first similar to the previous method, but at the junction, the second sheet does not need to be coated with glue. Next, we take a long rule and a sharp clerical knife. We make an even cut, bend the edge of the roll material, apply glue and roll this area with a roller.

In hard-to-reach places behind heating radiators, wallpaper is wound up from behind. After fixing in the desired position, the canvas is rolled with a narrow roller with a long handle.

In places where sockets or switches are located, roll materials are glued on top of the boxes, then cross-shaped cuts are made with a knife. The resulting triangular tails are bent, cut off all that is superfluous, the socket housings are put in place.

Gluing borders

The gluing of the border or frame starts from inconspicuous areas, since at this point the elements will be combined. Usually, decorative items are fixed in the upper part around the entire perimeter of the room.

When combining two types of canvases horizontally, the border is glued at a certain height relative to the floor. In this case, on the walls with a pencil and building level marking is applied: it is impossible to focus on the edges of the joined wallpaper. top decorative element fix along a pre-drawn line, then smooth the border with a roller, remove the remaining glue with a soft cloth or sponge. In the places where the tape joins, an incision is made with a sharp knife, the canvas is smoothed.

Choosing Decoration Materials for walls, many prefer non-woven wallpaper. They successfully mask surface flaws and greatly simplify repair work. To get good results, you need to know how to prepare and in what sequence to glue non-woven wallpaper.

Many textures and colors make it possible to decorate the room to your liking.

Non-woven wallpaper used for holding internal works, can have upper layer different types- vinyl, paper, acrylic, textile. If you plan to stick vinyl or any other non-woven wallpaper, you will need to calculate the required number of rolls. Prepare the tools:

  • rollers (one is useful for applying glue, the other is needed for rolling the surface);
  • brushes (for hard-to-reach areas);
  • scissors or stationery knife;
  • marker or pencil;
  • level (laser/conventional) or plumb;
  • roulette;
  • putty knife;
  • container for the adhesive mixture;
  • sponge and dry rag.

On the preparatory stage do not do without primer mixtures and putty. To apply the primer, you need a roller and a brush. Pasting of surfaces is carried out only with the help of glue intended for materials on non-woven fabric. It is convenient to smooth the stripes with a rubber or plastic spatula.

Choosing glue

Not everyone knows what glue is needed for vinyl or other non-woven wallpaper. Suitable glue, which is created specifically for this type of finish. A layer of non-woven fabric significantly makes the material heavier, so if you take the usual composition instead of wallpapering on non-woven fabric, the canvas may come off.

The best non-woven vinyl wallpaper adhesive can be selected from the list:

  • exclusive. This is good glue, which does not have toxic components and has antiseptic properties. It is great for non-woven standard wallpaper. The main thing is to prime the surface before applying it.
  • Metylan. Methylan glue is a universal mixture that allows you to work with different types wallpaper. Methylan containing polymer adhesive components has a high degree of adhesion. The composition is resistant to temperature changes, prevents the formation of mold and fits well on any surface. It is important to carefully prepare the wall for applying the mixture.
  • KLEO. Qualitative composition with antifungal ingredients and high level adhesion. Glue Cleo glides perfectly on the surface and does not show through at the joints, so it can be used when gluing non-woven fabric.
  • Quelyd. Adhesive mixture with bactericidal components and good sliding abilities, the granules of which quickly dissolve in water. Before work, it is necessary to take into account the consumption of this wallpaper glue. If the base is highly absorbent, the material will come off, so it is important to properly prepare the surface.

Some adhesives indicate that they can be chosen instead of a primer. Such a composition is, for example, Methylan.

You can and even need to glue vinyl adhesive non-woven wallpaper. This tool is considered one of the most reliable, suitable for various types wallpaper. Professionals often use Metilan vinyl adhesive.

Wallpaper preparation

Not everyone knows how to properly glue wallpaper on non-woven fabric. Before finishing work, you need to calculate how many rolls you need. This is done as follows:

  1. The perimeter of the room is calculated.
  2. The height of the sheets should be determined depending on the presence of a pattern (rapport). To do this, the length of the rapport is added to the height of the room, which is often indicated on the label, and 5-7 cm are necessarily added for allowances.
  3. To determine the number of lanes, the perimeter of the room is divided by the width of the lane.
  4. To find out how many strips will be on a roll, its length is divided by the length of the strip.
  5. By dividing the number of strips that can be pasted over the room by the number of strips from one roll, you can understand how many rolls to buy.

This method does not take into account the surface finish above the window and door, so you need to add another roll to the result. The data depends on the length of the roll, which can be from 10 to 25 m.

When gluing canvases, a butt-to-butt joint will be appropriate. If you need to paste over the corners, the wallpaper edge should go to the adjacent wall. The second canvas is glued with an overlap. Relief wallpapers are glued according to the same principle.

The material is suitable for wall decoration in kitchens and other rooms.

High-quality performance of work provides for the selection of images and patterns on the non-woven coating. When purchasing material, you must make sure that the same batch number is present on the rolls, otherwise a color mismatch may occur.

Surface preparation

Of great importance is the preparation of the walls in the room for non-woven wallpaper. Without this stage, finishing work will not bring the proper result.

You should start by removing existing paintings from the wall surface. They need to be well moistened with water, and after swelling, carefully remove with a spatula. If paint remains, it is removed in various ways:

  • mechanical (using a scraper, spatula, hammer);
  • electromechanical (using a drill or grinder with a special nozzle);
  • thermal (by exposure to high temperature);
  • chemical (using a chemical solution).

Be sure to remove the sockets with switches, isolate the wires.

If there are defects on the wall, putty is applied. If there are signs of mold, the areas are immediately cleaned with a solution of bleach and treated with fungicidal compounds. It is desirable to carry out the primer taking into account the type of surface. Can be used as normal wallpaper glue, and special primers.

Prepared surfaces should dry well. It is unacceptable to glue damp walls.

The temperature in the room should be within 10-25 degrees, the humidity level should not exceed 60%.

How to glue non-woven vinyl wallpaper

So that the decor pasted with your own hands does not go away after a certain period of time, professional advice on how to quickly and accurately glue vinyl wallpaper on a non-woven base will come in handy:

  1. Pasting wallpaper starts from the window opening or from the corner. To glue the sheet evenly, a vertical line is drawn along the wall using a level or plumb line.
  2. Sticking provides for the dilution of glue strictly according to the instructions. The work surface is treated with a mixture using a roller. In hard-to-reach places, you should walk with a brush.
  3. To glue the wallpaper evenly, the edge of the first sheet should coincide with the vertical line on the wall, while a slight overlap is made on the ceiling plinth. The canvas is gradually smoothed, thereby removing air bubbles. You can use a roller. Excess parts are removed with a metal spatula or knife.
  4. Vinyl non-woven models are glued end-to-end. You should be especially careful when there is a picture. If a gap forms between the sheets, the wallpaper sheets must be re-glued.
  5. In order for the sheets not to move away over time, they must dry well. Make sure there are no drafts in the room. Usually 24 hours is enough.

Wallpaper on non-woven fabrics are:

  • without embossing (monochrome);
  • with hot stamping (inhibited, silkscreen, compact vinyl).

The order of work, how to glue embossed wallpaper, depending on their type, does not differ significantly. Hot embossed non-woven wallpaper is glued to the prepared surface. It is necessary to get rid of the old coating, otherwise the lag is not excluded.

Silk-screen wallpapers are the thinnest of the types presented. This suggests that they need to be glued to a perfectly flat surface.

Step by step instructions for gluing

It is necessary to take into account some rules for gluing hot stamping vinyl wallpaper:

  • glue is applied both to the wall and to the canvas itself;
  • The sheet is folded in half and left to soak for 10 minutes.

The non-woven fabric is glued to the wall end-to-end, and it cannot be stretched. When hot embossed wallpaper is wet, it stretches a lot, and when it dries, it shrinks. Docking points must be smoothed with a roller.

Many novice masters find it difficult to stick heavy vinyl wallpaper in the corners. It is recommended to overlap the sheets in these places.

Other types of non-woven wallpaper

Less often than vinyl, you can find other options for non-woven wallpaper. As for their sticking, there are some nuances.

Paper

It is necessary to glue paper wallpapers on a durable non-woven substrate (base) on previously prepared surfaces. The wall is processed with an adhesive composition, which greatly simplifies the task.

Paper options on a non-woven backing look no less impressive

It is better to start gluing wallpaper from a window or from a corner. Although there is not much difference from where in the room to start pasting the walls. The main thing is that the canvas lays flat and butt.

Acrylic

A novelty among finishing materials are acrylic wallpapers, which have a large number of advantages. One of them is high operational properties. Acrylic wallpaper should be glued in the same way as other types of materials.

Interlining as a substrate for acrylic gives an excellent decorative effect

Due to the presence of interlining, the adhesive composition is applied directly to the work surface. When gluing the first canvases, they usually start from the window opening or the central corner. After gluing, it is important to let the material dry well, avoiding drafts.

Textile

Despite the transparent base, the textile layer is quite dense, so it will be possible to hide the possible heterogeneity of the surface color. Since the material is very heavy, glue textile wallpaper on a non-woven base follows with the help of a special adhesive composition.

The gluing process does not involve overlapping the canvases, as this will ruin them appearance. The advantage of the canvases is that to remove them, you can simply remove the top layer, leaving the base.

Textile trim looks rich and is very durable

To prevent the material from coming off after gluing, the windows and doors in the room are tightly closed until the sheets are completely dry.

Interlining on a paper basis

Among the many materials for interior decoration it is worth highlighting non-woven wallpaper with a paper base. Cloths are suitable for any living space, except for the bathroom and kitchen, because they are deformed due to high humidity. The material is attractive in that it has increased wear resistance.

An interesting option, characterized by high strength, is non-woven paper-based

In the process of work, both the surface of the wall and each wallpaper sheet are treated with glue. Non-woven wallpaper on a paper basis is carefully applied joint to joint without the formation of cracks.

For painting

Gluing non-woven wallpaper for painting is a fairly profitable option, since you can change the interior at any time. In order to properly dye non-woven fabrics, you should carefully study the information on the package, where the manufacturer indicates the type of paint required and its consumption. If desired, she is given desired color with the help of color.

It's a good idea to paint a small area first, as the paint looks a little different on paper.

With the help of paint, unique effects are created on non-woven and any other basis.

A layer of coloring matter is applied with a roller from top to bottom. Near windows and doorways it is better to work with a brush. Before applying a second layer, you must wait for the previous one to dry.

Photo wallpapers of various types

Thanks to photo wallpaper, you can significantly change the design of the room. Let's consider how to correctly glue photo wallpapers on non-woven fabric.

Often, two-layer sheets with a vinyl coating are used to decorate the room. Pasting the walls with vinyl wallpaper begins after preliminary surface preparation.

Modern photo wallpapers are spectacular and luxurious, but require a careful approach to gluing

The wallpaper is glued end-to-end. Only the wall is processed with glue. In order for the work to progress without difficulty, the sheets are placed on the floor in the right order or stacked.

Secrets and features of gluing

To properly stick wallpaper on a non-woven backing, keep in mind that:

  • the adhesive composition must be applied without gaps;
  • canvases are glued butt-to-butt, in the corners - overlap;
  • you can start from the corner or from the window opening;
  • the sheet after gluing is ironed from the central part to the edges.
