Whatever apartment you buy, no matter what project you build your cottage on, the hall will still remain the main room of your house, the place where you receive guests, triple family councils and just relax in the evenings near the TV screen. And in many ways, the comfort of your stay there will depend on the quality and type of ceiling finishes. And therefore the question: “What kind of ceiling to make in the hall?” will always be up to date.

Unfortunately, or perhaps, fortunately, there is no ready-made answer, and it cannot exist, given the wealth of building materials and technologies that exist on the modern market. And yet, some recommendations can be given, but for this you need to decide what types of ceiling finishes are generally used in the halls.

The simplest, but also the most reliable appearance ceiling finishes. It is used in absolutely all rooms, and the hall in this list is by no means an exception to the rule.
This element is characterized by its enormous labor costs and long deadlines. But as a result, the owner can get a completely monolithic product, without any inter-ceiling space, spending a minimum on materials and not stealing a single “extra” centimeter of apartment space.

Unfortunately, such a ceiling can only be made if the interfloor overlap is relatively even, when the height difference does not exceed 5 cm. Although it is rational to use this type of finish with a plaster cake thickness of not more than 3 cm.

IMPORTANT
When planning a monolithic ceiling in the hall, one should not forget that this is just a rough finish, which will subsequently require intermediate and finishing processing.

Another type of rough coating for the central room is. Unlike monolithic, this type of finish is not so laborious to manufacture, and it takes much less time to complete it, but it “steals” the height. When planning even a single-level plasterboard arch, you need to keep in mind that at least 8 cm from the lowest overlap point will have to be sacrificed for finishing. That's just a single-tier GKL ceiling in the hall is rarely done. The beauty of the gypsum system is its artistic potential, which allows you to create intricate multi-level ceiling figures. However, when planning such a beautiful one, you must always remember that there is a comfortable height for the hall, which, depending on the area of \u200b\u200bthe room, is from 2.8 to 3.2 m. And there is also a minimum allowable one, which is set at around 2.3– 2.4 m from the floor.

But the stretch ceiling is already a full-fledged coating ready for use. The minimum possible distance to the rough floor is only a couple of centimeters. Installation time is several hours. At the moment, this is perhaps the most popular type of ceiling in the hall.

But since this finish provides for a finished finish, you need to think about color and texture even before buying the canvas itself. So, warm tones will suit cold, poorly lit rooms, while cold ones can add freshness to stuffy rooms facing south.

Not so long ago, it became possible to create from stretch fabrics without the use of plasterboard frames. But here again it is necessary to recall the above minimum allowable and comfortable distances from the floor to the ceiling. After all, any multi-level design steals space. In the case of stretch ceilings, this is at least 5 cm for each tier.

IMPORTANT
The very transition system between tiers for a PVC ceiling is not too cheap, and therefore, in the old fashioned way, the owners prefer to mount a combined ceiling.

Also, a beautiful ceiling for the hall can be mounted from metal rails. This finishing material is finishing construction aluminum from the aircraft and rocket industry. This system combines most of the advantages characteristic of gypsum boards and tension vaults:

Suspended plasterboard ceilings

Drywall, as one of the easiest materials to process, has long entered our apartments. With its help, they level the walls, equip door slopes and of course create ceiling structures. Drywall is a fairly large sheet with a thickness of 9.5 mm, a length of 1500 to 2500 mm and a width of 600 to 1200 mm, which include a special gypsum dough, which is located between the layers of cardboard. Hence the decoding of the name, which is not difficult to guess.

Drywall is of several types, which differ from each other by the presence different properties, for example, fire resistance or moisture resistance. And depending on this, and the price. For the installation of ceilings, the simplest drywall is usually used - standard or plasterboard. Why is this material so popular?

It has a lot of positive qualities:

well hides all the flaws of the ceiling surface and does not require its careful preparation;

Stretch ceiling is fabric and PVC film. The first is created from a thin polyester thread impregnated with special polymers. And the second option is a thin PVC film.

On a note! Since the fabric fabric for stretch ceilings is produced in rolls up to 5 m wide, such coatings are usually mounted without seams, which is why they are called "seamless". But PVC ceilings in spacious rooms, they are more likely to have welded seams, since the usual width of rolls of film is from 1.5 to 3 m.

Also stretch ceilings are glossy and matte. PVC film can have absolutely any color - from pure to saturated. The fabric canvas is not so diverse in texture and color, but it “breathes” due to micropores and makes it very interesting to beat the lighting.

Lighting

An important aspect of creating beautiful ceiling in the living room is taking care of proper lighting. Not only does it need to be bright enough and adjustable, but it also needs to be installed nicely and in line with the overall style of the interior of the living room.

Lighting in modern hall must meet several requirements:

the presence of central lighting (chandeliers);
the presence of lamps or lighting;
clear zoning of the living room with lighting fixtures.

How to install spotlights on the ceiling

Step 1. Before starting work on installing the ceiling, draw an exact diagram of the entire structure and mark the places where the fixtures will be installed.

Step 2 Transfer the diagram to the ceiling and get ready to install the required number of fixtures.

You will need to attach fixtures for lighting fixtures to the ceiling.
