“The customers are a young married couple, both 31 years old. The guys are engineers by profession, so they made very serious demands on the functionality of the interior, competent and comfortable organization of space,” designers Viktoria Zolina and Anna Chevereva share.

“The main wish of the couple was to get the most open space with competent zoning. At the same time, in one room there should be a full-fledged kitchen with a dining area, a living room, a bedroom, an entrance hall, a dressing room and a pantry, a bathroom.

As for style, the designers were asked to create a bright, modern interior with elements scandinavian style, while not monochrome, but with bright, but not annoying accents.

Redevelopment: from odnushki to the studio

“The apartment is located in the LCD “Moskovskaya, 21″ in the city of Khimki,” the designers say. “The house was built on an individual project, and the apartment was originally one-room, with an isolated kitchen and living room.” Fortunately, only the perimeter walls and one column in the center of the apartment turned out to be load-bearing, which made it possible to turn the layout into an open one.

Zoning: regular squares

To make the studio as functional as possible, the designers had to use every inch of space wisely. Only a small area between the bedroom and the pantry turned out to be passable. In general, the apartment was planned in such a way that one half of it turned out to be economic, and the second - residential.

“When zoning the space, we used the method of regular squares. If you look at the plan of the apartment, you can see that all the rooms: entrance hall, dressing room, bathroom, storage room, bedroom, living room, kitchen, are almost square in shape.

The economic zone begins with a hallway. Here, on the right, there is a closet, and opposite a banquette, so that you can undress and take off your shoes at the door. There is a hanger for bags, scarves and other things. Almost opposite the closet there is a dressing room, so its mirrored facades are doubly functional.

The storage room (by the way, the supporting column is hidden there) is a cube that separates the residential and non-residential areas. You can get into it directly from the hallway, and this is convenient if you need to bring a bike or skis there.

In the living area, the bedroom is separated from the rest of the space by glass partitions and light sheer curtains that do not weigh down the interior, even when drawn.

“When the guys approached us for a design project, they wanted, despite the modest footage of housing, a full-fledged isolated bedroom with a large double bed. The idea to create a glass cube was born from their proposal to separate the bedroom with glass partitions,” the designers say about how the bold decision was made.

“Partitions hold ceiling fixtures hidden in an L-shaped niche made in the plasterboard ceiling. The floor is almost not involved: only point guides will be needed here. ”

“Choosing glass for partitions, we settled on triplex. This is tempered glass, which is usually used for display cases in shopping malls and even floors, it is very durable,” the designers specify. Partitions made of such glass can be made solid, without frames, to create a feeling of absolute transparency. There are sliding and fixed panels on each side, so the bedroom can be opened almost completely, or conversely, turned into a more intimate space by sliding the partitions and drawing the curtains.

Finishing: hidden doors and a kaleidoscope of textures

Designers had to use several different tricks to disguise the pile of doors in the hallway. The door to the dressing room - a floor-to-ceiling glass sheet - was turned into a picture, applying an image to it using photo printing. The doors to the bathroom and pantry were hidden, painted in the color of the walls. Closet doors were hidden behind mirrored facades. But front door deliberately singled out, making it bright yellow, focusing on itself.

“Our apartment turned out to be very textured,” the designers admit. – There is no simple surface. Brickwork, vertical slatted panels, wood paneling in the bedroom, rack ceiling, fairly active floor, bright tiles in the kitchen, graphic design balcony door. With all this variety of finishing techniques, the interior looks holistic and harmonious.

The floor in the hallway, living room and bedroom is covered with the same high-quality laminate, but the kitchen, on the contrary, is visually separated by bright cement tiles.
