Plywood table drawing

As for the table drawing, everything is simple. We make: 2 legs measuring 76 cm high, 46 cm wide, a table top measuring 100 cm long, 60 cm wide and a stiffening bar measuring 77 cm long, 52 cm wide.

Making a countertop

To make a tabletop, we need to cut a sheet of plywood in half into two parts. As you remember, we took a sheet of plywood measuring 152x152 cm.
Dividing the sheet in half, we got two rectangles measuring 152x76 cm. Here, one of the squares will go on the tabletop, measure 100 cm in length and 60 cm in width, draw lines with a pencil or pen.

By the way, many people wonder how to cut plywood without tearing it. We answer this question, if you remember, then in the list of materials we mentioned molar tape. So, take this tape and glue it tightly, then rub it against the line that we drew, look at the photo:

If you still have questions, you can watch a video on this topic at the bottom of the page. There we show in detail how to prevent plywood from tearing when cutting.

We take a jigsaw and cut along the lines that we drew. Peel off the remaining masking tape from all sawed sides. Now, take a round shape, we took a metal bowl, you can use whatever you like. And we put it on the corners of the tabletop, so that we form a semicircle, that is, we round off the sharp corners, something like this:

We make curves on all four corners and also tape along the lines. Carefully saw off with a jigsaw.

After sawing and removing the remaining masking tape, you need to take a sander, put a sanding belt with a grit size of No. 100 on it and sand the rounded corners.

The tabletop is almost ready, all that remains is to sand down all the unevenness on the surface of the plywood. Taking into account the fact that the plywood is more or less even, it won’t take much time, this is how the tabletop will ultimately look like:

Let's start making the table stiffener

Stiffening bar or otherwise called lateral stability. It plays the role of a support for the table, thanks to this strip we will fix the legs of the table and the table top, thus eliminating the instability and the structure will become stable.

We take the second half of the sheet and mark the rectangle - 77x52 cm. We also cover the lines with tape and cut them with a jigsaw.

As for the pattern of the cross bar, you can watch from the video how to make markings in the shape of a wave. After the markings have been applied and sawed off, you should end up with a table rigidity bar like this:

Making two table legs

It is difficult to make a plywood table with four legs, so we will make two wide, beautiful and voluminous legs. The remainder of the sheet is just enough for two pieces. We mark two rectangles, each measuring 76x46 cm, where 76 cm is the height of the legs, and 46 cm is the width.

Cover with tape and saw off with a jigsaw. You will also find information on how to make markings for a beautiful shape on the sides of the legs in the video clip. We got this drawing:

We cut according to the same pattern. We transfer the finished leg template to the second rectangle, mark it and saw it off again. Now we sand all the blanks, except for the tabletop, and this is the set of finished blanks we got:

Assembling the table frame

Let's start assembling the frame of the dining table. We take the lateral stability and put marks where the furniture bolts will be tightened. Be careful here, because it is very easy to make a mistake at this step.

Let's get down to business, take the stiffness bar and divide it into three equal parts. If you did according to our instructions, then you should have marks for drilling holes: the first mark is 7 cm, the second is 26.5 cm and the third is 45 cm. The first mark should be made from the top of the plank, where the tabletop lies .

Take a wood drill with a diameter of 5 mm. and make holes in the ends of the stability bar. The drilling depth should be 5.5-6 cm, since the length of a standard furniture bolt is 5 cm. We transfer the same dimensions that we made on the stiffener bar to the table legs.

We also begin to place marks on top of the legs, where the table top will go. Divide the legs in half widthwise from top to bottom, draw a thin line with a pencil and put marks on it at 7 cm, 26.5 cm and 45 cm and make through holes with the same wood drill.

After all the holes are made, take one leg and attach all three furniture bolts. We attach the stability bar and tighten all the bolts with a screwdriver. On the other side we place the second leg and also screw it on.
You will get this table frame:

Now, take the tabletop and place the table frame on top. We measure the same distance over the entire area of the tabletop and screw it in using furniture corners with wood screws.

Since the thickness of the plywood is 18 mm. Wood screws should be 15 mm. The product is ready, all that remains is to process the table (carry out paint and varnish work), here, if desired, you can paint, stain, varnish the product or in any other way.

DIY plywood table

What you need to know when working with plywood

  1. It is important to cut the material correctly. Any cuts are best made using a professional tool - an electric jigsaw for wood. Moreover, you should choose a model with the smallest teeth so that the cutting quality is as good as possible.
  2. No less important point- strong fastening. To do this, you need to purchase screws designed for wood. In order to prevent cracks in the material, you initially need to make holes a couple of millimeters smaller than the self-tapping screw.
  3. Additional gluing. To make a plywood table more durable and reliable, its elements are glued together with special wood glue. Before gluing the parts, they need to be prepared (grind the surface and then get rid of dust).
  4. The elements must be bent correctly. So, if the material needs to be bent, it should be moistened with plenty of water. After this, you need to bend it and leave it for 12 hours to consolidate the result.

DIY plywood desktop

  • First you need to make a drawing of the future table. The main dimensions must be marked on it. So, you will know what to start from and make furniture the right size. Below you can see an example of such a drawing. Substitute your own dimensions or use ready-made ones.
  • Now you need to cut out all the elements (1 cover, 1 inner wall and 2 end walls), and this must be done carefully, and the ends must be processed immediately.
  • You need to drill two holes in each rack as shown in the diagram. It is important to use special furniture ties and a drill for them (as in the next photo).
  • Next you need to place the tabletop and attach it using furniture corners. Please note that the screws you use should be a few millimeters smaller than the thickness of the plywood (so they will not be visible).
  • The final stage is inspecting the plywood desktop, sanding the ends and gluing tape that will cover the visible areas (it needs to be specially heated with an iron or hairdryer).

DIY plywood dining table

  1. Prepare all the parts that are in the photo for work. Use sanding to make the surface smooth.
  2. Take electric jigsaw and make grooves in the planks, as in the photo below.
  3. Apply glue to the joints and insert the groove into the groove.
  4. Assemble the slats and legs using euroscrews as shown in the drawing.
  5. Now you need to connect the table legs to the binding ring using confirmats and glue.
  6. The underframe is secured to the tabletop using 35-40 mm self-tapping screws.
  7. We inspect the round plywood table and, if necessary, correct unevenness and other imperfections.
  8. Finally, we coat the finished furniture with wood varnish.

DIY children's table made of plywood

  • Mark where the frame will be. Draw a rectangle, all sides of which will be 5 cm larger than the frame.
  • Place the leg where it will later be attached and trace it. This should be done with all the legs.
  • Make sure that the frame does not reach the edge by the width of the table leg plus the 5 cm that we retreated.
  • Now the frame bars need to be screwed to the tabletop.
  • Screw the legs to the frame itself.
  • Sand the plywood children's table until it is smooth and even.
  • Finish with wood varnish if desired.

DIY plywood table: drawings, video

Surely everyone at school made various crafts or even furniture from plywood. Back then, we often found this activity interesting, but useless. And now the time has come to make something very useful - a do-it-yourself plywood table.

From time immemorial, not a single house can do without this element of furniture. It is used for studying, for work, for cooking and eating, and in many other cases. But the current pricing policy and its relationship with the quality of finished tables leave much to be desired.

What is the way out of this situation? It's very simple: you can make a table out of plywood with your own hands.

Preparing the tools

Let's start by selecting the tools necessary for the job. So, we will need:

  • jigsaw;
  • screwdriver;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • glue;
  • construction square;
  • roulette;
  • sandpaper;
  • pencil;
  • drill;
  • furniture plugs;
  • plywood.

First let's make it simple universal table made of plywood that can be used anywhere. It will look something like this:

Step-by-step instructions: from cutting parts to assembly

Step 1. Making the lid.

Take a sheet waterproof plywood and using a pencil and tape measure, we measure out the size of the rectangle we need (everyone decides for themselves what size table they need).

When the markings on the sheet are ready, carefully cut them out with a jigsaw (or hand circular saw, if the plywood is thick) covers. It is better to use a jigsaw file with a fine tooth so that the cut is neat. Afterwards we process the cut edges (and not only the edges), removing any burrs that have arisen in this way. A sanding machine is suitable for this, but if you don’t have one, we’ll make do with regular sandpaper.

Step 2. We make the end walls of the table (aka “legs”) and the inner wall.

Here our actions are not much different from the previous step: we measure, mark, cut and sand the edges.

To make the table even more stable (or the plywood seems not thick enough), you can cut not two, but four leg blanks, which are twisted in pairs during installation. This way we get two thick end walls.

Step 3. Putting the elements together.

The final stage of work is assembly. First of all, it is necessary to connect the end walls with the inner one. The figure above shows exactly where to screw in the screws. We measure with a tape measure and mark these points on our parts with a pencil. Next, drill holes at the marked points with a drill. The diameter of the drill should be slightly smaller than the screws we use. This is done to prevent the plywood sheets from bursting during assembly. Drilled holes countersink under the heads of the screws so that they do not stick out. We screw the screws into the finished holes.

Now we place the table cover on top and align it with the end walls and screw it to them in the manner described above. Then we put furniture plugs on the heads of the screws or putty them.

For greater strength, the parts can not only be twisted, but also glued together. You can also use furniture corners.

Final processing of the product

We will need varnish, paint or self-adhesive film to look like wood. Some details of coating the product with varnish are described in another article. After this, leave the table for 1.5 - 2 days until completely dry.

You can also use a varnish application method that eliminates brush marks. To do this, move the table to a well-ventilated room with an air temperature of 19-20 C. It is better to choose a brush made of natural bristle with split ends. This brush will allow you to make long strokes.

1. Thin the varnish. Before application, the varnish must be diluted with white spirit in a 1:1 ratio, while stirring slowly. This will help it dry out faster and it will spread better over the surface.

2. Apply the first layer. So, coat the product with a layer of varnish along the grain, without pressing hard on the brush and holding it at a slight angle. After the first coat of varnish has dried (approximately 24 hours), you need to remove any lint (if any remains). We do this using fine-grained sandpaper 220-230K. Having finished the procedure, wipe the surface with a damp (soaked in white spirit) rag. If there are still brush marks on the surface of the product, carefully sand these areas with fine-grained sandpaper.

3. Apply the second layer, keeping the ratio 3:1 (mix the same as the previous time). Let it dry and sand again using 320K sandpaper.

4. Apply several layers of undiluted varnish. To get the maximum effect, treat the surface with sandpaper (600K) and polish with a felt wheel.

So we finished our debut cutting with a jigsaw and as a result we got a plywood table with our own hands. Usually all this work takes no more than 1 day or even no more than 5 hours (it all depends on the skill of the designer).

In the era of minimalism, natural motifs and naturalness, plywood could not have come at a better time. More recently, this material was considered faceless, unsightly and too cheap in appearance. When making furniture, plywood was often masked with wood veneer. Only recently have designers finally paid attention to the elegant, unobtrusive pattern inherent in its surface. And today, along with the naked brick walls and not covered with anything concrete floors, in fashion - decoration and furniture made of natural plywood, without decoration or embellishment.

How to make a simple one desk laminated plywood

There are very few furniture projects on which you can “hone” your initial knowledge in carpentry and, at the same time as the learning process, be rewarded with a finished product of quite decent quality. Today we offer you just such a “training” option - you will receive a decent desk as a reward. The table has only four parts; there are no pull-out bedside tables or cabinets. This is not a problem, don't be upset. Once you gain experience, you can always add to it all the additional elements necessary to increase comfort. Although we like it anyway, simplicity is the key to genius.

Preparation of materials and tools

Now it’s worth telling what you need to have to make our table. To your pleasant surprise - quite a bit. First, you will need a sheet of laminated plywood. You can work with ordinary plywood, but after completing the preparation work on the parts, you will have to varnish them in two or three layers. Not everyone likes this work, and not everyone can do it with the required level of quality. The thickness of the plywood is from 12 millimeters; to connect the parts together, use confirmats or minifixes. Working with minifixes is quite difficult; therefore, we do not insist on using these hardware even for fastening the tabletop.

We understand that such recommendations somewhat violate the generally accepted rules of the furniture industry, but all this is done for the sake of beginners. There is no point in risking their initial enthusiasm; let them gain “work experience” and begin to receive satisfaction from the results of their work, and only after that can you gradually complicate the technological operations.

You can cut the workpieces with a hand-held circular saw. When handled skillfully, this tool produces such an even cut that it is indistinguishable from a machine cut. You can also cut with an electric jigsaw, but it takes a long time and the quality is significantly worse. Use an electric jigsaw when cutting curved profiles, but our desk does not have such parts.

It is better to finish the edges with U-profile plastic tape. This tape is quite technologically advanced to use, but this is not its main advantage. The main advantage can be considered that, due to its features, the tape can hide quite large uneven edges, and beginners always “sin” with this. Especially when working with laminated plywood. Cutting it without chipping is not so easy; we’ll tell you how to do it below. But not only advice can always help; you also need good practice in performing such work.

Preparation of parts

You shouldn’t stop at transferring drawings from paper to plywood; we hope that you will be able to draw several parallel lines. Just remember to make gaps on the cut map for the saw to pass through. But it’s worth looking at the process of cutting laminated plywood in more detail.

  • If possible, make several test cuts on the plywood. The fact is that each sheet of laminated plywood has its own characteristics depending on the manufacturer, production technology, thickness of the laminate layer, number and thickness of veneer sheets, wood type, etc. We cannot give universal recommendations without knowing all these characteristics, We give you only a general algorithm of actions that must be followed in all cases. A trial cut will give you the opportunity to choose the optimal cutting mode; you can select the cutting speed, type of saw, and blade angle. In addition, practically check how the laminate “behaves” during cutting.
  • The saw teeth should always hit the laminate from above, rather than undermining it from below. This is a mandatory condition; laminated plywood cannot be cut immediately; you need to make several passes, each time increasing the cutting depth. The number of passes must be at least three. Perfect option- a field of two passes on one side of the plywood, it needs to be turned over and continued cutting with reverse side. Thus, the likelihood of chipping is minimized.

There are cases that, despite all attempts, the laminate continues to chip and the edge takes on a very unsightly appearance. This may be due to the low quality of the laminate coating or to violations of the manufacturing technology of laminated plywood. The situation is quite unpleasant, but not tragic. You can solve the problem with a sharp shoe knife. Using it, cut through the laminate manually, the thickness of the cuts should be equal to the thickness of the laminate, this is ideal. If it is difficult for you to follow this recommendation, then make the cut depth to at least half the thickness of the sheet. We understand that the cutting time will increase significantly, but we cannot recommend any other way out of the difficult situation.

Preparing table elements for assembly

All visible cut edges must be sanded and covered with a decorative plastic edge of the U-profile. We have already told you about the advantages of such decoration. By price plastic tape somewhat more expensive than usual, but these are small things compared to its advantages. Place the profile on liquid nails or special glue, immediately remove all excess, do not let it dry out. Those places that will be used to fasten individual parts into a single structure must be as level as possible, the cutting angle must be exactly 90°. In order for the assembly of parts to go “without a hitch”, you need to carefully mark seats hardware.

Table assembly

To begin, secure the legs to the sides. In the drawing you offer ordinary plastic stops, but you can choose wheels for yourself - a very convenient option. You need to start assembling the table from the sides and spacers, this way you will have a stable frame for attaching the tabletop. Drill the holes carefully, keep in mind that it is impossible to correct the mistake made; you will have to change the mounting location. But this is not always possible and always undesirable. During assembly, constantly check the corners of the table, do not tighten the fasteners immediately, first “fasten” all the components.

    The plywood kitchen table is ready!

    Homemade furniture is all the rage right now. It has a lot of advantages over the factory one - House master he knows exactly what he made his cabinets and chairs from, and usually tries to ensure that his creations not only decorate the interior, but also last long enough. If you decide to do this and you still have some materials left after the renovation, first you can try to make a table out of plywood with your own hands. Some models will be discussed in our article.

    What would you like?

    Plywood is an excellent material from which, in principle, you can make any furniture, and it is even more suitable for a table than the currently popular chipboard. But before you make a table from plywood, think about what your product should be like:

    • compact;
    • convenient;
    • beautiful.

    Otherwise, there’s simply no point in getting down to business. In stores you will find a wide variety of tables made from the most unexpected materials. Among them there will probably be tables made of plywood. There are many options that you can do yourself:

    • magazine;
    • children's;
    • writing;
    • kitchen;
    • workbench;
    • any other model, up to secretary tables and models combined with cabinets.

    Much depends on what exactly made you take up the matter. Do you want to get serious about making furniture, completely furnish your apartment, or do you just have pieces of plywood left that need to be used somewhere? But in any case, it’s better to start with something small.

    Important! The first plywood table can be a coffee table - it will use the remnants of what you used during the renovation. By the way, it doesn’t have to be plywood - it can be laminate or chipboard.

    Coffee table

    To do small table from plywood with your own hands, drawings are not required, but a template will be very useful. The table, which is described below, is attached to the wall.

    Important! Your future product may be of different heights, in this case it is not at all necessary to comply sanitary standards, prescribing how to sit at the table and how your feet should be positioned. There is a magazine on it, some kind of figurine and a table lamp.

    Rummage through your bins and see if you have:

    • a piece of plywood for the tabletop;
    • a small but whole sheet of plywood or thick cardboard - it is needed for the template;
    • carpentry or other moisture-resistant glue;
    • jigsaw;
    • a circular saw;
    • pencil;
    • vice;
    • sanding machine (you can just use sandpaper, but it will take more time);
    • fasteners;
    • remnants of wallpaper, a sheet of Whatman paper or graph paper;
    • long line;
    • varnish, wax or oil.

    Assembling the legs and preparing the parts

    We start making the table with a sketch:

    1. Think of the shape of the tabletop - it can be rectangular, square, round, oval, with a recess, or even a weird shape.
    2. Think about the shape of the legs - you can make them straight or curved.
    3. Draw it all on a piece of paper.
    4. Estimate the dimensions. The table is small, so the main parameter you should focus on is the size of the plywood sheet, unless, of course, you plan to make a stacked tabletop from pieces.
    5. Draw full size legs on a large sheet of paper.
    6. Transfer the drawing onto thick cardboard.
    7. Cut out the legs according to the template - if the shape is complex, you can use a regular hand jigsaw rather than an electric one.
    8. If the plywood is not thick enough, make the legs two-layer.
    9. Glue the layers together.
    10. Remove excess glue and let the pieces dry.
    11. Place your feet on flat surface.
    12. Align them according to the template.

    Important! The model that is attached to the wall has only two legs.

    Tabletop

    If the countertop is simple and made from a single piece, there is no problem. It's simply cut out. It's a different matter if you only have pieces of plywood or if you want to make a typesetting drawing from different types wood In this case, the fragments are cut at an angle so that they can be formed into a flat surface and the seams are not noticeable. First you need to glue the pieces into a single whole, and only then cut the tabletop according to the template. After the blanks appear, do the following:

    1. We sand the surfaces of the legs and table top - we get rid of splinters, sharp corners, etc.
    2. On the underside of the tabletop we mark places for screws.
    3. We screw the legs using furniture corners.
    4. We mark a straight line on the wall for fastening.
    5. We fix the table on corners or on a metal profile.

    Important! The corners need to be attached from below under the tabletop so that they are not visible from the outside.

    Which plywood to choose?

    You don’t have to attach your own plywood table to the wall. You can make a very ordinary table, with one or four legs. And its size can be much larger. But in such cases you can’t get away with leftover materials; plywood must be chosen specifically, and the question arises, which one.

    Important! Plywood is a glued veneer, and the number of layers is always odd, and most often divided by 3.

    This material has many advantages, and the main ones are strength and abrasion resistance. They are determined by the location of the fibers. For the manufacture of plywood the following are used:

    • birch;
    • coniferous trees.

    Important! There are also types when the veneer is made from birch, and the inner layers are made from coniferous trees. These are fairly cheap varieties. There is also material made entirely from deciduous trees, but it is more expensive.

    On the price tags in the store you may come across some not entirely clear symbols:

    • brand;
    • variety;
    • grinding.

    Brand

    The brand designates such qualities of plywood as:

    • moisture resistance;
    • application area.

    You may come across the following designations:

    Here's what you need to remember:

    • FC means that urea resin glue was used, this grade is used for furniture and internal works indoors.
    • For outdoor work, FSF is used - it is a moisture-resistant material, but it contains formaldehyde; this option is not suitable for furniture.
    • Melamine resins are used for FKM plywood, which makes it possible to use the material for all work.
    • FBA means that plywood is not resistant to moisture; it can be used for living room furniture, but it is not suitable for kitchens and bathrooms.
    • An excellent option is FOF. Plywood covered protective film. It is expensive, but high quality, and the film can be colored.

    Variety

    This indicator is determined appearance surfaces. It is designated by the letter E - this is the highest quality. This is followed by reduction factors, they are designated by Roman numerals from I to IV or ordinary Arabic. In this case, the same sheet can be of two grades - separately for the face and the back.

    Grinding

    Unpolished material is designated as NS. There may be other options:

    • Ш1 – one side is polished;
    • Ш2 – the sheet is sanded on both sides.

    Important! On some sheets you can see the letter F with different indices - this is how the amount of formaldehyde is indicated.

    Some basic principles of working with plywood

    Before you make a table from plywood with your own hands, as well as any other furniture, try to master the main principles of working with this material. This applies to tools. It is better to use a jigsaw, and for some particularly delicate work, a hand jigsaw. Any of them allows you to make high-quality cuts, and not necessarily straight ones. Sawing with a jigsaw is a separate genre; a manual jigsaw allows you to cut fancy lines that require high precision, and an electric jigsaw speeds up the process where ultra-precision is not needed.

    Important! Pay attention to the files. The smaller their teeth, the more accurate the cut will be.

    Fasteners

    A do-it-yourself plywood table, as well as a cabinet, stool or hanging shelves, only need to be fastened with special screws. They are designed to be attached wooden parts and they hold up perfectly even in chipboard, not to mention plywood and solid wood.

    To work with self-tapping screws, you will need a drill - manual or electric, and a set of drills.

    Important! A hole is made in advance for the screws, and it should be slightly smaller than the diameter of the fastener - about 2 mm.

    DIY plywood dining table

    Now you know how to choose plywood, how to work with it, and even tried to make small table. You can move on to further achievements. For example, make a dining table out of plywood with your own hands. It won’t be much more difficult than a magazine project if you choose the right materials, and the process is already familiar to you:

    1. Just like when making a DIY coffee table, sketch and draw templates for the legs and table top.
    2. The templates can be sent to a printing house to be printed on a special self-adhesive film - then they can be glued directly onto the plywood and cut according to them.
    3. Prepare the plywood - if it is too thin, glue 2-3 sheets together, the table should not sag.
    4. Sand cuts and surfaces if necessary.
    5. On the underside of the tabletop, mark the locations for the holes for the legs.
    6. Drill them out, but not all the way through.
    7. Manual milling machine grind the upper parts of the legs so that they fit into the prepared grooves.
    8. Glue in the legs.
    9. Place the table the way it will stand.
    10. Align the legs.

    Round plywood table

    How to make a table from plywood with your own hands, if you prefer a round or oval shape? Yes, just like anyone else. You just need a template for the tabletop. If you need a coffee table small size, you can use a round tire. You just need to wash it very well.

    Important! There are options when the tire becomes part of the table - the tabletop is attached directly to it, so that you get not only a table, but also a cavity for various small things. But you can also just make a tabletop with legs.

    So, trace the tire onto the plywood:

    1. Trim the tabletop.
    2. Sand it down.
    3. Turn it over backwards.
    4. Mark a place for the leg.
    5. Drill it out.

    Leg

    The leg of such a small table is a wooden round stick on a cross - this is the simplest option. You can make a table with four legs, but you need to position them correctly:

    1. Place the tabletop blank front side down.
    2. Find the center (this must be done very accurately).
    3. Draw 2 diameters at an angle of 90° to each other.
    4. On these diameters, drill holes for the legs, retreating 5-10 cm from the edge.
    5. Glue the legs or secure with corners.

    DIY children's table made of plywood

    If you have already tried to make a dining table or coffee table from plywood, children's furniture will not be a problem for you. The main thing here is to make the table the right size, and that the product is durable and safe. Therefore, we make it on a frame.

    You will need:

    • a piece of thick plywood for the tabletop (can be glued together from several sheets);
    • strips of plywood for the frame and legs;
    • carpentry tools;
    • fastener

    The operating procedure will be as follows:

    1. Cut out the blanks for the legs according to the templates; if necessary, glue the legs from several layers.
    2. Prepare the tabletop (glue together several layers, sand).
    3. Cut strips for the frame - their width is 10-15 cm, their length is 10 cm shorter than the sides of the tabletop.

    Start assembly with the frame, which is placed under the tabletop:

    1. Check how straight the angles are.
    2. Secure the sides of the frame with furniture corners.
    3. Screw the legs in the corners so that their upper parts are inside the frame.
    4. The tabletop can be glued or secured with self-tapping screws.
    5. Be sure to chamfer the corners.
    6. Cover the tabletop with edge tape.
    7. The legs can be connected with crossbars at the bottom for greater stability of the entire structure.

    How to decorate a table?

    It depends on what it is intended for, what technology you used to assemble it and what furniture you already have. The only thing you shouldn't do is paint. But there are many other options:

    • varnish;
    • In a word, making a table from plywood is a process accessible even to a novice craftsman. The most important thing in this story is to find suitable materials and buy good tools. Try it, and maybe you will end up with a real masterpiece worthy of a palace, because even the most famous masters started somewhere.

    Homemade furniture is a cheap and original solution that can make the interior of your home more attractive and comfortable. Of course, to design something truly complex, you need the appropriate skills. However, a plywood table is a fairly simple piece of furniture that does not require high costs time and effort. Having understood the issue, even a novice master will be able to create it.

    We'll tell you how to make a table out of plywood with your own hands.

    Materials and tools for work

    An important stage of work is the preparation stage. Stock up on everything necessary tools and materials, make sure you have a good understanding of the process at all stages.

    How to choose plywood for a table

    The main component is, of course, plywood. To create a table, sheets consisting of at least 5 layers of veneer are suitable. The thickness of such panels varies from 16 to 30 mm. The length and width of the plywood are not critical; the choice depends on the size of the tabletop you want to achieve as a result.

    Important! The quality of a plywood sheet can be judged by examining its surface. Samples suitable for such work are smooth, have a uniform color, and do not contain knots, cracks or other defects.

    What tools and materials to prepare

    For the manufacture of

    As you work, you will need the following.

    • A jigsaw or circular saw for cutting plywood.
    • Furniture glue.
    • Thick cardboard or other similar material for creating life-size templates.
    • Pencil and long ruler.
    • Fastening elements - bolts, furniture corners or wood screws.

    For processing

    A separate line is worth highlighting the materials needed at the stage of final processing of table surfaces. This is usually sandpaper or grinder for initial processing. AND wax, varnish or paint to finalize a piece of furniture.

    Important! Texture natural wood, which is obtained by treating surfaces with transparent varnish, will fit well into interiors in loft, minimalism, and country styles.

    However, a strict classical room, as well as ultra-modern high-tech, harmonize better with painted products.

    Table drawing

    Creating an accurate drawing is the next part of the preparation process. Draw out the tabletop and legs with dimensions on paper. The more complex the shape of the product that is planned to be assembled, the more detailed the diagram should be.

    After completing the drawings, transfer the elements depicted on it in real sizes onto cardboard. Cut out the resulting fragments - they will serve as templates for working with plywood.

    How to make a table from plywood

    After the tools, materials, drawing, and templates are prepared, it’s time to begin the process of creating the table. To do this, follow the instructions.

    Part marking

    Take a cardboard template, secure it to a plywood board with masking tape, and trace it with a pencil. Thus it is necessary to outline all the components of the table, starting with the tabletop and ending with the legs or side stands that replace them.

    Cutting out parts

    For this use a jigsaw or circular saw. It is easier to cut a triangular or square shape than a curved one. But the latter can also be dealt with using patterns.

    Surface treatment

    We are talking about grinding elements using sandpaper or another grinding tool.

    Important! The joints are subjected to the most careful processing. They must be absolutely smooth so that the parts fit together as well as possible.

    Connection of product components

    Mark with a pencil the location of the fasteners. Drill holes in these places using a drill with a diameter slightly smaller than the screws. Then process the top of the resulting holes with a drill with a large diameter - this process is called countersinking.

    Then connect all the components. Make sure that the joints are tight - then the table will last a long time. Place caps on the heads of the self-tapping screws.

    Varnish or paint coating

    Varnish will allow you to show off the wood texture, paint will add a little color to the interior. Both options have their own advantages.

    Important! Interesting solution is painting the legs and table top in different shades.

    • The most important thing when designing your own table is to make it fairly stable. To do this, you can additionally connect the vertical legs with horizontal elements, even creating an entire frame.
    • Sometimes it is recommended to try to glue together, respecting the proportions, a small mock-up of a future piece of furniture made of paper or cardboard. This is usually enough to understand whether the invented model will hold up or not. You also need to somehow strengthen its supporting elements.

    Creating a table with your own hands is somewhat reminiscent of playing with a construction set in childhood. Only the result is significantly more useful and durable.
