How to make doorways of interior doors from drywall. How to sheathe a doorway with drywall

  • 20.06.2020

As soon as repairs begin in secondary housing, the owners think about redevelopment of the premises. Often you have to demolish one or more partitions, and in another place. And here the question arises, how to make a drywall doorway? Is it possible to do this work yourself, or will you have to hire a team.

Drywall door installation

There are a lot of materials for it, but the most popular and popular is drywall. This material is universal. Firstly, it is inexpensive, secondly, you can make a doorway from drywall with your own hands, and thirdly, it is easy to finish. But do not think that it is easy to use drywall for mounting a doorway, as it has its own characteristics, and they should not be neglected.

Despite the fact that the GVL, when constructing a drywall doorway, is attached to, the structure under horizontal loads may lose strength and begin to loosen. Especially if the door leaf is heavy.

An example of finishing a plasterboard doorway

Important! When constructing a partition with a doorway, the structure must be strengthened even at the installation stage. Main positive moment when arranging drywall structures - the ability to do everything yourself.

Installation of a partition with a doorway

If you want to sew up the doorway with drywall with your own hands, then step-by-step instruction below will help make this a reality.

This method may be needed not only in the repair old apartment, but also in a new one, since they are often rented out in one room, in which the layout must be done independently.

But it is worth noting that all redevelopment work must be coordinated. Before starting work, you need to plan a partition, since it will not be possible to first build a structure, and only then equip an opening - everything must be done in accordance with a specific work plan.

Scheme with dimensions for installing a partition with a doorway

And in this case, it does not matter whether you want a full-fledged doorway. The main task is to build a solid and stable structure.

Planning and layout

Installation is carried out in stages. It is important to follow a strict sequence. Start with planning:

Note! If it is possible to borrow a laser level from professionals, then you can use this device for marking - it is much more convenient and faster.

Tool

For installation, you need the following set of tools:

  • perforator for punching holes in surfaces. If the house is wooden, then it will not be needed;
  • screwdriver - the most right tool, since there will be a lot of screws to tighten;
  • sharp scissors for metal, for profiles;
  • level, pencil and tape measure, for measurements and marking;
  • a construction knife and a metal ruler, for fast and accurate cutting of drywall.

Frame installation

Frame - important construction in the construction of a partition with a doorway, it must be performed according to the instructions:

Doorway

How to lay a doorway with drywall? Let's consider in more detail. It is easy to make this design:

Plasterboard sheathing and soundproofing

  • How to sheathe? First, one side with GKL plates. For this you need to use black, the step of which should not exceed 20 cm;
  • Install mineral wool between the profiles, trying not to have large gaps between the material;
  • Once the soundproofing is installed, the structure can be completely sewn up. If doors are installed, then inside there is no need to sheathe the opening. When arranging an empty opening, on sides strips of material are installed.

The video shows step-by-step instructions for installing a drywall doorway.

Finishing

How is the doorway trimmed? During the subsequent installation of the door leaf, you can simply stick a sickle on the seams and putty the partition on both sides. Facing material is selected based on the overall design of the room. With an empty opening, additionally installed. You can finish the doorways of drywall with any materials.

Leveling the opening with drywall

by the most simple solution to align the contours of the doorway is the use of GKL. The work is simple, but has its own characteristics. We need to prepare:

The process of leveling the opening

This process must be done in stages:

This is an inexpensive and simple option, sealing the doorway with drywall, which allows you to make the opening perfectly even, but it has one big disadvantage - it is impossible to install a door on such a structure.

Installation of a doorway using a metal profile

Mounted frame of a plasterboard partition with a doorway made of a metal profile

If the doorway is in poor condition or needs to be reduced, then the metal frame will be the most right decision. Firstly, this will make it even, and secondly, the design will be rigid and durable. This method combines the above, as it will be constructed that will be attached to a concrete base.

Technology for arranging a doorway

Before you build a structure, you need to decide how you will reduce the opening, on one side or on two.

Plasterboard arch on a metal frame

The above methods involve the installation of a straight doorway. But if a decision is made to make a drywall arch in doorway, then the upper part must be made arched. The technology for arranging a direct opening is the same in all cases, so we will consider the arrangement of only an arched element.

Arch Arrangement Technology

You need to do the following:

For the manufacture of doorways can be used various materials, and the most popular material is drywall. The main advantages of drywall are low price, ease of installation, and ease of finishing. You can make such an opening alone, without resorting to help. experienced builders. But how to make a drywall opening? Does the frame need to be reinforced? What should be remembered when installing drywall? Below you will find the answers to these questions.

How to make a drywall opening

For manufacturing, you need to install special vertical racks. After that, it is necessary to strengthen the door frame to increase the strength of the structure. Then you need to install the door frame. At the final stage, finishing should be done. Let's look at each stage of installing a drywall opening in more detail.

1. Frame formation

First, at the chosen place, it is necessary to put special racks that will limit the opening. You need to install the racks like this:

  • Racks should be level, and you can check their location using a building or laser level. Checking the position of the racks is very important - if the racks are crooked, then you will get a crooked skewed door.
  • Vertical partitions must be attached from above and below to the horizontal rails of the frame. To increase the strength of the structure, you can also attach partitions to the floor as well as to the ceiling.
  • At the height of the doorway, connect the racks with a horizontal jumper. You can fasten metal parts to each other using shortened metal screws.
  • 2. Frame reinforcement

    To make drywall more stable, it is necessary to strengthen the supporting structure:

    • To improve strength, ordinary wooden blocks are usually used.
    • The thickness of the bar should be 3-5 mm less than the thickness metal frame.
    • The length of the beam should be equal to the height of the racks.
    • The bars are mounted as follows: a wooden bar is inserted inside and fixed with wood screws. The optimal thread pitch for secure fixation is 1.5 - 2 centimeters.
    • The length of the screws should be less than a few millimeters of half the thickness of the timber.
    • If you are planning to install a massive heavy wooden door, then you also need to reinforce the horizontal lintel at the top with wooden blocks.
    • 3. Mounting the box

      Let's find out what the installation of the door frame looks like:

      • Usually, a standard factory-made box is used as a door frame, which is sold complete with a door.
      • If you did everything correctly, then there should be a gap between the box and the vertical posts, the size of which is 3-5 mm. With this gap, it is much easier to mount the box.
      • Mounting the box usually looks like this - first you need to buy special anchors; then small holes are drilled in the uprights and in the box, the diameter of which should be equal to the thickness of the anchors; after that, countersunk screws are screwed into the anchors; the resulting gaps between should be filled mounting foam.
      • It should also be remembered that a large number of mounting foam can warp door frame, which will lead to the skew of the door itself. To prevent this from happening, after pouring the mounting foam, you should install a couple of spacers in several places. When the foam hardens, you should remove the spacers, and also remove the excess foam with a clerical knife.
      • After that, it is necessary to carry out the installation of drywall. To do this, you need to carefully cut the drywall according to the dimensions of the structure, and then attach it to the frame using long self-tapping screws or anchors.
      • 4. Finishing work

        Learn how to do the finishing touches:

        • Primer. A special primer is applied to the joint between the drywall and the protruding structure.
        • Defect removal. When the primer is completely dry, it is necessary to seal the seams with a sickle. It is also necessary to cover the places where the anchors are screwed in with putty and primer to hide the transition from the wall to the structure.
        • Alignment and final putty. Now you need to wipe sandpaper applied primer. Then another layer of putty should be applied over the entire area of \u200b\u200bthe structure.
        • Mashing. Now you need to grind again so that the resulting design is even.

        Let's find out what experienced builders advise regarding the manufacture of drywall door reception:

        • Many builders recommend doing this, since the metal transmits sound quite well. Mineral wool can be used as an insulating material, which suppresses sound vibrations well. Another good soundproofing material is polyurethane tape. Soundproofing material should be attached to the metal frame using a special adhesive. It is recommended to fasten mineral wool or polyurethane tape around the entire perimeter in order to achieve complete soundproofing of the room.
        • From drywall, you can make not only standard rectangular openings, but also arched openings, ellipsoidal, rounded, and so on. In order to do this, you need to give the materials the shape you need. installed according to the standard procedure, but at the same time the profiles are gently bent, and the profile itself can be cut with metal scissors.

          You will also need to bend drywall - for this, you first need to cut a rectangular sheet in the way you need; then you should walk with a needle roller; now you need to wet and attach the drywall to metal structure. Drywall should be wetted carefully - if there is too much water, the drywall will begin to crumble, which will make the resulting structure fragile and unstable.

        • Installation of a door into a drywall wall is carried out according to the standard scheme, but there are several important differences. First, the bolting must be done carefully. Secondly, do not forget to strengthen the frame; if the door is too heavy, then the metal frame will quickly deform, which can lead to a distortion of the door and even to the collapse of the structure.

During repairs, it often becomes necessary to construct a drywall doorway. Even a beginner can do this work correctly with his own hands, but only on condition that he is well versed in the essence of the issue. To do this, it is necessary to carefully study the features of each type of structure and the building material itself.

Drywall allows you to quickly and easily make a doorway

Material Features

First of all, you should familiarize yourself with the properties of drywall. GKL is a fairly popular building material, it is used in almost any field, it allows you to build both small decorative extensions and quite massive elements. With the help of drywall, you can quickly level the surface of the wall or build partitions, both solid and curly, including a doorway.

Advantages of drywall:

  • Ease. The plates vary in thickness, but in general their weight is negligible. There are lightweight options for finishing the ceiling, which has a positive effect on the condition of the supporting structures.
  • Availability. You can buy GKL in any construction department at a price that is quite affordable for most of the population.
  • Wide scope. It is used almost everywhere, and not only in the field of rough construction, but also for decoration.
  • Strength. Despite its visual fragility and small thickness, drywall is able to withstand a huge load. With proper finishing and operation, it does not collapse and retains its properties for decades.
  • Ease of processing. The material is quite malleable and very easy to work with. With your own hands, you can give it almost any shape.
  • Fast installation. The plates are attached to the frame with glue or self-tapping screws; this can be done even alone in the shortest possible time.
  • Additional properties. Some types of drywall have additional distinctive characteristics. For example, blue GKL is moisture resistant, red is fireproof. There are also plasterboard sandwich panels with insulation.

The main advantages of drywall are ease and quick installation.

Change the dimensions of the opening

In order to make a solid doorway from a drywall sheet with your own hands, it is necessary to distinguish several types of structures. Most often, it becomes necessary to change the dimensions of the opening, namely, to reduce its height or width.

In order to complete this task, you will need an additional metal profile of two types: starting and rack. They differ, first of all, in the specifics of placement and the functions performed.

For the construction of the frame will require two types of aluminum profile

In order to increase the rigidity of the drywall construction in the rack profile, it is necessary to additionally lay wooden beams.

First you need to determine the required dimensions. If you decide to slightly move the doorway, the wall is cut out with a grinder. Next, fix the profile at the top and bottom. It is also recommended to install an additional rack on the side of the wall. A vertical element is fixed along the edges and twisted with self-tapping screws. For greater rigidity, several more crossbars are attached.

If you need to reduce the height, wall profiles will serve as the main supports. After their installation, drywall is cut into sheets so that its edges are in the middle of the profile. They are also fastened with self-tapping screws.

Reducing the height of the doorway with plasterboard

Straight frame construction

More time-consuming is the construction of a partition from scratch. Such a wall of drywall sheets with a doorway must be pre-designed. The plan outlines the exact position of the door and the necessary parameters for the opening. At the same time, it is important to take into account the fact that it is necessary to build a structure that is somewhat smaller in size, since after finishing part of the area is hidden.

In order to do everything with your own hands, you will need more profiles than for the previous type of work. First of all, mark up directly on the floor and walls. Here you need to outline the position of the vertical racks and.

Scheme of the frame device for an aluminum profile partition

After that, you need to install horizontal profiles on the floor and ceiling, rack-mount strips will be driven into them. Additionally, the structure can be strengthened with horizontal profiles in places where it is planned to hang a cabinet, TV or other interior items. Sheets are screwed in the way already described earlier. Insulation is laid inside the partition. A protective corner is additionally put on the corners.

Drywall sheets are attached to the frame with self-tapping screws.

Arch

You can make not only standard drywall doorways, but also more decorative designs. It's about arches. In order to make them with your own hands, you need to give building materials specific shape.

With the help of drywall, you can create an arched structure of almost any configuration:

  • direct portal;
  • ellipse;
  • round expanded;
  • non-standard asymmetric;
  • etc.

Interesting options for arched openings

The frame is erected in a standard way with one difference: the profiles are bent to a given project. To do this, they are cut with scissors for metal. In order to bend the drywall, you need to walk on it with a spiked roller, then lightly wet it with water to make it more pliable and fix it in the desired position. Make sure that the cardboard does not soften, otherwise the gypsum will crumble and crumble in the future.

Drywall finishing

Sometimes it is only necessary to slightly correct the contours of the doorway. In this case, the wall is often covered with a layer of plaster. Some irregularities require a significant consumption of materials, and therefore it would be more appropriate to use GKL to correct irregularities.

To do this with your own hands, you need to measure the required dimensions for drywall and fix it on the slopes and inside the opening itself. Minor defects and seams will later be hidden by plaster. The corners are aligned with a special profile made of aluminum or plastic.

Drywall can be glued to special compound Or use regular putty.

Finishing door slope drywall

Final finishing

After the wall is displayed along with the doorway, you can proceed to the final stage of finishing. For this purpose, putty and paint mesh are used. If you plan to do everything yourself, you can break the work into several stages:

  1. Padding. A primer is applied to the entire surface and completely dried.
  2. Defect removal. The seams are sealed with sickle, it is also necessary to process the places where the screws are screwed in and the corners, it is important to hide the transition from the wall to the plasterboard structure.
  3. Alignment. The putty applied locally, after complete drying, is rubbed off, a new layer is applied on top, this time over the entire area of the material.
  4. Mashing. The surface is polished again, if there are no irregularities, you can proceed to decorative trim otherwise, repeat the previous procedure and wipe the surface again.

It is possible to hide the seams of drywall with putty

Subject to the design standards and rules, a doorway made of gypsum plasterboard will be able to withstand a significant load. At the same time, it will look even better than the standard options.

A drywall doorway will allow you to quickly and economically align curved walls Drywall is durable and available material, which absolutely everyone can learn to work with, even without building experience. From drywall, today, they make decorative elements, all kinds of shelves and niches. With its help, walls are leveled, multi-level floors and ceilings are created. Therefore, it is not surprising that drywall began to be used for the construction of interior partitions. How to independently make a partition from GKL with a doorway - read below.

How to make an opening for a drywall door: the preparatory stage

The manufacture of an interior partition with a doorway may be necessary in case of uneven walls in the room. In addition, a plasterboard frame with an opening allows you to quite cost-effectively and efficiently make one big room two are small. With the help of a drywall construction, you can easily change the dimensions (for example, make it already) and the location of the doorway in panel house, make a round or asymmetrical arch instead of a standard passage.

Before construction works, without fail, a drawing of the future design should be made, taking into account GOSTs and SNiP.

This will allow you to correctly calculate the volume of material and outline the front of the upcoming work. When drawing up a plan-drawing, one should take into account standard sizes drywall sheets and metal profiles. So, a standard GKL is made in the size of 250x120 cm, and a standard metal profile has a length of 300-400 cm.

Before carrying out construction work, a drawing of the future structure should be made

If you plan to make any changes to the load-bearing walls, you need to contact the relevant authorities (BTI, Ministry of Emergency Situations, SES, architecture department, housing inspection, operating organizations), and obtain permission for redevelopment.

If you are working with drywall for the first time, then you should study the types and purposes of metal profiles. It is on them that the durability of the structure depends.

We make a doorway from drywall with our own hands

In order to assemble a frame with an opening based on an interior wall and sheathe it with drywall, you will need: metal profiles (guide and rack-mount partition), sheathing material, basalt mineral wool, scissors or Circular Saw for metal, a puncher and a screwdriver, an electric jigsaw, an edge planer, 8 mm dowels, metal screws 25-35 mm in size and self-tapping screws with a press washer.

A drywall doorway is made in several stages

The manufacture of a frame with a doorway includes the following steps:

  • Removing the interior door and dismantling the door frame;
  • Expansion of the opening (if necessary);
  • Wall marking;
  • Installation of the lower and upper guide profiles using dowels 6x40 with a distance of 40 cm;
  • Installation of wall profiles along the entire length of the wall with a distance of 60 cm;
  • Installation of vertical rack profiles;
  • Installation of a horizontal lintel of the opening;
  • Installation of vertical guides opposite wall profiles;
  • Filling the frame with insulation (for example, mineral wool);
  • Sheathing the frame with drywall; To increase the strength of the structure, you can sheathe the frame in several layers, in a checkerboard pattern;
  • Applying putty to the joints of the sheets and the places where the plasterboard is attached to the frame;
  • Putty grouting, priming sheets for further finishing.

Subject to the norms and design rules, a plasterboard doorway will last for many years. A correctly assembled structure will be able to withstand a sufficiently large load: it will be possible to finish the opening even with a decorative artificial stone, brick.

We assemble the drywall door frame correctly: advice from builders

In addition to observing the doorway installation technology, some nuances should be taken into account that will help extend the life of the structure.

When assembling a drywall door frame, you must adhere to the installation technology

So that the structure comes out strong and even, Experienced drywallers advise:

  1. Use wooden blocks to reinforce the uprights. The bars, at the same time, are laid directly into the profile.
  2. Mount the support posts using the nozzle method, in which the shelves of one of the profiles lead inside the second. The ends of the double profiles can be attached to the rails using self-tapping screws or slots.
  3. Arrange drywall sheets so that their joint falls on the profile.
  4. Mount the sheets so that the screws go deep into the material by 1-2 mm, and into the rack - by at least 1 cm. At the same time, the fasteners should enter at a right angle.
  5. Always install at least four rack profiles. At the same time, their height should correspond to the height of the future door.
  6. Minus half a cm when cutting the profile so that under the influence of high temperatures it does not rest against the walls.
  7. Reinforce the outer corners of the structure with a special profile in order to reduce their fragility.
  8. Increase the thickness of the partition in proportion to the increase in its length: load bearing capacity drywall construction depends on the size of the section.

To bend a sheet of drywall for an arch, it should be walked over with a spiked roller and lightly moistened with water. After the fox becomes pliable, you can fix it in the desired position. The main thing is to ensure that the sheet does not soften, otherwise it will crumble and crumble in the future.

How to align a doorway in a panel house

Alignment of the doorway may be necessary if it is moved or expanded. In addition, doorways are often located at the junction of two panels, and can be skewed due to a mismatch between the two lengths of the vertical sides. The choice of the method of finishing the opening is influenced by the degree of its curvature, the repair budget.

Align the doorway without the involvement of professional builders, with your own hands using plaster.

The doorway can be leveled with your own hands

Today, openings can be finished with both wet and dry plaster. In the first option, the opening is finished with gypsum, cement and polymer mixtures. In the second - sheets of the Civil Code.

The easiest way to apply a moisture-resistant polymer mixture, which is characterized by high performance.

Drywall can be mounted both without profiles and with a frame. The first case should be chosen if the relief differences in the opening are insignificant. In addition, you can combine methods to achieve a better decorative effect.

Do-it-yourself drywall doorway (video)

The scope of drywall is extremely wide. One of the options for using the material is the creation of artificial interior partitions and the design of doorways. It is quite simple to make and align the doorway with the help of GKL on your own. To do this, you just need to make the markup correctly, perform the work in the right sequence, observe building regulations, and take into account the recommendations of experienced builders. And then you get a solid and beautiful design!

Changing the layout, or dividing an existing room into separate rooms is not difficult. To do this, you can call a team of repair specialists or do everything yourself, subject to the availability of certain knowledge and skills. Most often, plasterboard doorways are used for interior partitions. The installation process of such a design should be thought out to the smallest detail, since its quality and stability depend on it.

The quality and practicality of drywall in use have been proven for a long time. It is used not only as a material for wall decoration, but also as the basis of structures and partitions that divide a room into several rooms. Each such wall must have a hole for the door, which greatly complicates the installation process. It is important to remember that the doorway must have a certain rigidity in order to be able to place a door frame in it, facing materials, slopes. If the presence of a door is not initially planned, in the future such a need may arise. A well-installed doorway will allow you to mount the door without much hassle at any time.

Drywall wall installation process:

  • Frame layout;
  • Frame installation;
  • Wall cladding with plasterboard.

At the beginning of work, you need to draw a plan of the walls in order to avoid shortcomings and further redoing. Future doorways and the width of the partitions should be marked on the drawing. The first step in installing the wall is to transfer all the elements from the plan to the floor and ceiling of the room.

The presence and location of electrical wiring and electrical appliances should also be considered in advance.

To install the frame, a guide metal profile is installed, which serves as the contour of the partition. Fastening is carried out with a perforator or dowel-nails. Next, vertical rack profiles are mounted, after which the frame is filled with soundproofing material and stitched with drywall sheets.

How to install sliding drywall doors in an interior partition

Sliding doors in a plasterboard partition take up little space and are ideal option for small spaces.

To install such a door, you will need to carry out the following work:

  • Calculate the mounting height of the guide and the size of the opening;
  • Mount the partition frame;
  • Install the door guide;
  • Install stroke limiters;
  • Finish the frame with plasterboard;
  • Laying a clean floor;
  • Hang the door leaf;
  • Install platbands.

When installing a metal frame, jumpers are used that connect the walls of the structure to increase rigidity. Double vertical racks are also installed, because it is impossible to put jumpers in the space where the door will hide.

We install a doorway from drywall with our own hands

Doorways are made using guide profiles according to a pre-marked marking. The size of the door block significantly affects the final width and height of the opening. Before calculating the height of the opening, you should pay attention to the absence or presence of flooring.

The process of installing a plasterboard partition with a doorway includes the following steps:

  • Installation of guides and rack profiles;
  • Marking and forming the design of the doorway itself;
  • Fixing drywall sheets on the finished structure of the doorway;
  • Installation of a drywall box for an air duct.

Before the beginning finishing works you need to check the wiring. To improve sound insulation, it is necessary to foam the gaps between the profile and the boards.

Racks along the edges of the doorway are reinforced with wooden bars that match the profile in size. The presence of a wooden bar significantly improves the quality of mounting a door into a partition from drywall with your own hands, and also improves the rigidity of the structure. Self-tapping screws are used to fasten the bars to the profile.

How to make drywall doors with your own hands

The process of manufacturing and installing drywall doors is not complicated, but the final result largely depends on the planning of the structure.

In the process of manufacturing drywall doors, the following work must be done:

  • Install the door frame;
  • Sheathe the crate of the door;
  • Repair cracks;
  • Carry out ground and putty work;
  • Carry out the final finishing of the wall.

For the frame, a cut profile is used, on which jumpers are attached to increase the strength of the product. The frame is sheathed with drywall of any size and even with remnants, since the finished canvas is eventually amenable to primer and putty. All cracks and chips that appear as a result of the skin must be repaired with high quality. After that, painting or pasting the doors with photo wallpaper, tiles is carried out.

In some cases, the door structure is insulated with foam, glass wool, polyurethane foam, isolon, or polystyrene, while the material is laid in an empty space and fixed with glue.

In what order is a drywall wall with a door installed

To isolate the passage room, you can use interior partitions for which material with different characteristics A: Moisture resistance and fire resistance.

Since the material is very fragile, it should be handled carefully and carefully to avoid damage.

Stages of installation of an interior partition:

  • Preparatory- measurements, preparation of materials and tools;
  • Mounting- the process of installing the profile, forming an opening under the door and installing drywall;
  • Finishing- treatment of the wall surface with various impregnations, application of paint, tiles, wallpaper.

Immediately before installing the door, it is necessary to divide the material into separate elements according to the preliminary marking of the boundaries. The cut line should be leveled with an edge planer. The frame is sheathed on both sides with drywall using self-tapping screws.

How to sheathe a doorway with drywall correctly

Before sheathing a wall, it is necessary to properly cut drywall sheets with a construction knife. To obtain even borders, place the sheet on a horizontal hard surface and mark with a marker the line along which you want to separate part of the material. Upper layer drywall needs to be slightly incised. After that, the sheet is shifted to the edge of the support and breaks. At the end, you need to turn it over and repeat the above steps again, as a result of which it will be possible to separate the desired piece of drywall from the sheet.

The sheet and frame are connected with self-tapping screws. Initially, it is necessary to fix the edges of the sheet, and only after that the middle. Between the fasteners, a distance of 10 to 25 cm must be maintained.

It is important to screw the screws completely into the drywall so that the hats do not stick out above the wall level.

The work is carried out in the following order:

  • The first sheet is fixed;
  • The distance to the ceiling is measured and a piece of drywall of the appropriate size is cut;
  • In places where it is necessary to fasten the sheet to another piece of drywall or ceiling, you need to form a chamfer;
  • After the first row, whole sheets are installed under the ceiling, and the missing part is attached to the bottom.

How to install a drywall doorway

During the redevelopment of the apartment, the solution of finishing the doorway with drywall is very popular. However, it does not have to be rectangular. Now unusual and curved doorways are in fashion, and with the help of drywall it has become possible to bring any design idea to life.

At the beginning of work it is necessary to dismantle old door: remove from the hinges and remove the architraves, jambs on the floor.

Installation of a drywall doorway is carried out in several stages:

  • Installation of a rigid frame for attaching sheathing sheets;
  • Installation of the upper transverse bar to fix the upper dimensions of the opening;
  • Measuring the parameters of the box along the width and height of the doorway;
  • Preparation of materials for the installation of a doorway and sound insulation;
  • Plasterboard marking;
  • Fixing drywall sheets on self-tapping screws;
  • Pasting seams with serpentine tape;
  • Putty and primer of the doorway;
  • Final decorative finish.
