Do-it-yourself competition: create a loft-style interior and save $7.5 thousand equivalent on repairs. Brick wall

  • 29.08.2019

We asked architect Alexander Kravtsov about how you can turn an ordinary interior into a loft with steampunk elements, and also learned how he made decor and lamps with his own hands.

Quartblog is constantly expanding the boundaries of its reporting: we go to exhibitions, visits, workshops, quests, and now the first trip to a restaurant for interior impressions is next in line. A tip on the Bromley Brothers restaurant and architect Alexander Kravtsov was given to us by Dasha Geyler, a wood and paint master.

Very often, when we come to a cafe or restaurant, we enjoy communication, food and the atmosphere in general, without noticing the details that set the right mood. And in vain, because all the most interesting lies in the details! The Bromley Brothers Restaurant was recently opened and was undergoing renovations as soon as possible before opening. The complete modification of the premises took only two weeks. The concept of the loft-style interior with steampunk elements was inspired by the story of real brothers, after whom the place is named. The Bromley brothers in the middle of the 19th century owned first a workshop for making tools, and then "Society of Mechanical Plants of the Bromley Brothers", which produced machine tools, engines and steam engines, which glorified the brothers far beyond the borders of Russia. The brothers led an active lifestyle: they traveled a lot, painted, photographed, engaged in scientific development, did something with their own hands. Alexander wanted to give this place the atmosphere of a workshop, not without the comfort of a living room.

Architect Alexander Kravtsov, who was in charge of decorating the restaurant, told me that there used to be another establishment here, from which all the furniture remained. Having an interior basis, Alexander was faced with the task of completely changing the style.

I believe that the interior of any restaurant begins with the front door. Each guest who comes, takes the handle to enter, and from that moment must tune in a certain way. The door can be absolutely simple, as in our case, but one bright accent changes everything. Also, instead of banal urns, we put pipes from the air duct.

Alexander, together with the workers, modified almost all the furniture. The leitmotif that can be traced throughout the restaurant and even on the facade of the building is the bolts. They can be seen on the walls and on the bar counter. They emphasize geometry and tie the whole space together. The element is very simple and is suitable for a loft-style interior.

Absolutely all wooden furniture and panels decorating a whole corner of the restaurant were repainted with Dasha Geyler's paints. Alexander recalls that when painting the panels, the workers deliberately left smudges so that the wood looked like a workshop, in which imperfections are possible.

Deliberate negligence takes place in the loft style. The main thing to remember is that there should be only a few careless elements, otherwise the whole effect is lost, and guests may get the feeling that they just came to a poorly renovated room.

The history of the bar counter and the suspension with lamps above it is curious. Machine filters were used as shades for lamps. They are also used in sconces on the walls.

With the help of light, we wanted to create a festive mood. It seems to me that the lighting above the bar is vaguely reminiscent of garlands or retro signs, while everything is designed in the same style. Initially, we wanted to make retro bulbs all over the suspension, like everywhere else, but to save the budget, we put in the most ordinary Soviet ones, with adjustable power levels. Now we set them to a minimum so that the spiral inside glows. As a result, this light does not hit the eyes and looks no worse than an expensive alternative.

Loft and steampunk decor is not always easy to find, plus it can be very expensive if you buy it in stores. Alexander shared with Quartblog several interesting ideas, which he implemented in the restaurant. So, ordinary gears and water pipes became part of the installation on the wall, and also turned into lamps near the windows. Flower pots are made from ordinary buckets, sawn in half and varnished on top.

Since finances and time were limited, ingenuity was used: many things were literally made by hand. The decor that is presented on the shelves was collected from everywhere: from flea markets, industrial dumps and from small shops. Many details former cars turned into independent art objects.

As far as I know, when houses are being renovated, builders throw away a lot of things that can be recycled and turned into something interesting, as in our case. We put everything that we managed to collect in one place, and based on the things available, we made the decor that you see.

Alexander shared an interesting life hack on aging posters. The themed posters that hang on the walls were printed on watercolor paper, and they got the effect of antiquity thanks to tea bags.

Tea is a well-known dye, and with its help, Alexander manually added color to the posters, as soon as he walked over the paper with a brush and a sponge.

On the windows on one side of the restaurant, we see unusual curtains, over which a mesh is stretched. This was done not just for the sake of decor, but from a functional point of view.

As you can see, there are very few walls in the restaurant that can be used. But some exhibitions and events may be held here in the future. You can hang some photo works, paintings and illustrations, as well as garlands or flower arrangements on the grid. This plane has yet to reveal its full potential.

It is curious that the colorful loft-style decor here plays in contrast with the feminine details in the Provence style (jars of lavender, shabby trays of flowers, lanterns, elegant dishes). It is also worth noting the floral print cushions and velor upholstery on some of the chairs. This contrast allows the interior to be playful and cozy.

Lamps that look like spiders, Alexander made himself. Retro cables, conventional sockets and decorative incandescent lamps (Edison bulbs) were used. The beauty of this lamp is that it can be transformed: the bulbs can be lifted and fixed on additional ceiling hooks, changing the lighting scheme.

The restaurant has a separate lounge area, which is especially conducive to cozy gatherings in the evening. Alexander is sure that this corner has yet to acquire interesting wall decor and new details.

The appearance of the Brothers Bromley restaurant is still at the stage of development and formation. It will be filled with decor, details and become more refined over time, but already now there are many guests who appreciate not only delicious food, but also the atmosphere, which is created largely due to the interior.

We want the interior to be filled with non-random things, so we still have something to work on here. In general, I believe that a restaurant should live its own dynamic life and develop, as well as adapt to the various events that will be held here. I hope we managed to create the transforming interior that we were striving for.

Finishing materials and colors - choose the right colors!

In understanding the style, there are no strict rules when choosing materials for finishing or observing the general colors. For finishing it is not necessary to choose elite materials - the idea of style lies in the design natural elements: the purchase of several inexpensive sheets of metal or bricks will help beat a couple of walls in the room and save a lot of money on repairs. You can also decorate the room yourself - structures made of metal cables or rods, antennas and wires, with the right approach, will skillfully complement the main idea of the loft interior.

The loft is an original design concept that allows both strict boundaries and paradoxical designs. All decor elements may differ or even contradict each other's color texture, however, the general range of style must be strictly adhered to.

The main characteristics of the loft style: what is worth knowing?

The loft is a striking example of a successful interweaving of minimalism and industrialism, where elements of both antique and modern decorations are successfully combined. The distinctive components of the loft are:

  • Large free space;
  • The presence of various industrial elements;
  • High ceilings with hinged structures;
  • Light decoration of walls and decorations;
  • Large window areas that let in light;

Also in the loft there is often a combination of room space and the use of various screens and partitions.

Light redevelopment, where the living room is combined with the dining room, and from long corridor another room is created, often allowing to solve the territorial shortage of free space. Loft-style renovation provides a solution to several problems at once, namely:

  • Visually increases the living space in the premises;
  • Thanks to redevelopment, the number of rooms is expanding;
  • The rooms are visually transformed and decorated.

If you are interested in combining living rooms or do not know how to properly beat industrial elements and areas with equipment in the dining room, bathroom or kitchen, then it is recommended to seek the help of designers. Self repair without ignorance of the characteristics of the loft is fraught with spoiled materials and time.

Benefits of a loft style for a small studio apartment

Initially, before reaching the peak of popularity, the style was intended just for small studio spaces, so despite the small amount of space, there is where to roam. Even if there are no ideas, you can view do-it-yourself loft-style renovation photos on the Internet, where there are many options for decoration.

In order to visually increase the space of the room, it is recommended to stick to natural natural shades. Painting the walls in white or metallic color will play up any room well, and in the presence of high ceilings, the upper space is required to be decorated with suspended structures of any design made of sheet metal or pipes.

When overhaul rooms, it is recommended to increase the area of windows - an abundant amount of natural light against the background of decoration from natural materials and metal decor elements will turn a studio apartment into a work of art.

It is worth remembering that repairs in the loft style can be done with your own hands, however, for a competent design, it is recommended to sketch out a preliminary work plan. Despite a certain style framework, you can create entire themed loft projects.

For example, the design of a fishing hut or junk shop is the best option for a studio apartment - a combination of antique or themed decor elements will greatly complement the overall style direction.

Loft style in the interior of city apartments and country houses

The loft is relevant not only in small studio apartments, but is also perfect for implementation in the premises of an ordinary apartment or a country cottage. The industrial format of the loft will look beautiful like in stalinkas or large-scale mansions - the main thing is to correctly beat the overall composition and style in the rooms, depending on their purpose:

  • In bedrooms and dressing rooms, it is recommended to use light colors and flood lighting, as well as hanging metal structures made in a common theme.
  • In the kitchen, the loft style requires the allocation of wall space for brick patterns and the emphasis on industrial elements and communications from the general plan;
  • In the living rooms, high chandeliers and frontal cladding with natural materials look good: brick or stone.

Repairing a loft-style room in a modern apartment is not a difficult task, it is important to correctly position the decorative elements, observing the overall color scheme.

Distinctive features loft-style decors competently emphasize the industrial elements of the structures in the apartment and retain a minimalist direction - the style is an excellent solution to decorate all the structural and architectural errors of the apartment without resorting to expensive redevelopment.

A lot of design ideas will allow you to choose the right option for yourself and properly decorate your apartment, revealing your creative potential. Correct all the shortcomings of the premises, giving the home a touch of modern art!

This is interesting!

Due to the play with light and a large number metal structures it turns out to hide the irregularities of the walls and ceiling - loft-style finishes are in a simple way make room repairs.

For which rooms is the loft style suitable?

This style is a unique combination of different design directions, which allows you to use the loft literally everywhere: from small apartments to large-scale mansions.

It was our boldest idea to create an inexpensive repair. We did not choose the "Loft" style, it turned out by itself, because. we decided to minimize the number construction works, as well as use the simplest building materials. In the end, I will definitely write why we did not regret ...

It was the most ordinary apartment built by the SU-155 company, and as they are good at it, made in best traditions Soviet society...

... (worse than anywhere, IMHO). In our case, a double room with two bathrooms

First, we decided to leave everything as it is to the maximum, not to level the walls and ceiling, we didn’t do anything with them at all, but only varnished them. Installed Soviet radiators.

The main material is a brick from which we made all the partitions and walls (where they were not) and part of the furniture. The simplest brick was bought on the construction market.

Part of the wiring was done outside.

Fixtures (fitting), before painting.

Many elements were made by hand from scraps and the rest of the material, curtain rods were made from water pipes.

The furniture in the bathroom, in the kitchen and in the corridor is also made of brick.

The painting on the wall in the hallway is carved out of concrete. The floor throughout the apartment is a modern, self-leveling microcement-based floor that is made in DBSG.

From the remains of microcement, we made almost all horizontal surfaces, such as: the countertop in the kitchen, the bedside table in the corridor, all the shelves, the work table in the hallway and the toilet set in the bathroom. The desktop can be used as a cosmetic one because of the mirror integrated into it.

More space and light due to the open top of the bathrooms.

Closets in the bedroom are hung with curtains, the bed is in the center. All furniture and ideas for the implementation of the laboratory archpole .

And here is the result:

And this is the process:

This project on Style TV (the clip consists of two parts after the repair and before):

The apartment is already in operation and quite successfully. More recently, an accident occurred in this house at night, due to constant interruptions in hot water(house is new). On the last technical floor, a hot water pipe burst and flooded the entire entrance, and 5 floors were very badly damaged. Lamps in this apartment were damaged, they were flooded with water and textiles. While the neighbors will have to start all over again. That is why we did not regret such a bold experiment.

First big update:

I would like to more accurately emphasize that we tried to make inexpensive repairs that could serve as an analogue of all inexpensive standard approaches.
As in the old joke: ""... - and what about money? ... I don't need you with money, with money I can do it myself..."

We could easily find not the cheapest brick, but find the old one during the analysis of the Soviet or tsarist period (this is not uncommon today), but very expensive. We took the cheapest and substandard from the market.

We could use modern PANDOMO floors, they are the best fit for the loft style, but we used a little-known Russian analogue, because of its low cost. PANDOMO walls are also often used in expensive interiors.

We have the simplest and cheapest doors, cornices, lamps, sinks, bathrooms, toilets... and much more, all the while being reliable. We didn't change the windows, we just painted the existing ones.

It is very important that the apartment is located in the Moscow region, Odintsovo. The cost of such an apartment at the time of its purchase is 2,900,000 rubles (according to the owner), the market value today without repair is 4,500,000 rubles. Investing a lot of money in repairs and decoration is not rational.

This is not our only experiment, in parallel with this project we made the simplest and most common option, hired an economy team, chose the most popular finishing materials among the people, not the cheapest, but not expensive either. And that's what happened.

Modern trends in the design sphere use a wide variety of approaches to interior design, one of which is the loft style. This trend in design has its own characteristics, which can be organically integrated into the overall interior, which gives atmosphere and zest to the atmosphere.

Features of repairing an apartment in a loft style

Loft is a style of architecture typical for rooms designed in the 20th and 21st centuries, that is, it is a very young trend in the field of design. Main Feature loft is the use of industrial elements in the design. A refurbishment of a loft-style apartment may have a ceiling with beams that are used to install ceilings in factories, the walls may be finished with red or gray bricks without cladding, and the lighting system, for example, may consist of light bulbs without shades. Renovation of an apartment in a loft style is distinguished by originality and originality, which is very much appreciated these days. In addition, this interior design can be described as "severe comfort", but despite all the rudeness of some elements, they very naturally fit into the overall picture, creating a unique atmosphere.

Design solutions for the renovation of a loft-style apartment

When developing a loft-style apartment renovation project, photo examples of which can be easily found on the Internet, they are presented in in large numbers, it is worth considering not only the style of design, but also the comfort and practicality of operating individual zones. For example, a loft-style studio apartment is perfect for a single and independent man who does not currently plan to become a family man.

Such housing reflects his personality and is saturated with masculinity. And if you are a member of a large friendly family, then you already need a bigger apartment, since the renovation one-room apartment in the loft style will not be able to meet the needs of your friendly "team". At the same time, you should not think that the elements in the nursery, decorated in this style, will be harsh and gloomy - no one has canceled the use of colors, and your kids will be delighted with the drawing boards hung on the walls.

The cost of renovating an apartment in a loft style

There is no guarantee that loft-style repairs will be very cheap. Given the popularity this style and the use of a wide variety of materials to bring design fantasies to life, decorating an apartment in a loft style can cost a pretty penny. At the same time, this indicator is individual - it all depends on the choice of a contractor, consumables, unplanned expenses, sudden ideas and the complexity of their implementation.

The loft style has been firmly holding the leading position in popularity over the past five years. After all, the loft successfully combines interior details that at first glance seem incongruous. The result of such a bizarre combination of objects is a space reminiscent of an industrial, but at the same time modern and comfortable.

Loft style: history of occurrence

The urban loft style in the interior arose as a direction that combines the features of the underground and bohemianism. Translated from English loft means "non-residential premises": from a small attic to industrial building. The second meaning was assigned to the term to a greater extent, which determined the main features of this style in the future.

The loft interior style began to take shape in the middle of the last century in American cities. The historical prerequisite for this was a sharp rise in the price of land within the city. Construction companies began to actively build industrial enterprises in the suburbs. But supply exceeded demand. As a result, many industrial premises, for which there was no worthy buyer, the developers decided to convert them into residential ones. Since housing prices within the metropolis were high, there were many who wanted to live in former industrial premises.

The first dwellings in industrial premises appeared in the 1920s in New York (in Queens and Manhattan). During this period, there was an economic crisis, and many enterprises were ruined, and their buildings were rented out as housing for the poor. But rather quickly, this kind of apartment became popular among people of creative professions: it was possible to live and work there in one room. In the early 60s of the twentieth century, Andy Warhol became one of the fans of loft-style housing.

Initially, the industrial interior in the loft style of the middle of the last century is housing for the poor. Partitions between the rooms did not exist, in place standard ceiling there were beams and roof slopes. Kitchen and bathroom - this was the end of the minimal improvement of the industrial premises.

The interior of the loft would not have left a mark on the history of architecture and design if its originality had not been noticed by artists and other bohemian public. Industrial premises began to be used as studios: for work, exhibitions, social events. And huge windows, brick walls, metal pipes, floors and ceilings with a rough finish have become unusual decorations for art objects.

Gradually, loft design in the interior began to acquire modern features. Against the background of brick walls, various antique items, extravagant furniture, luxurious velvet and genuine leather appeared. But overfilling the former industrial space with everyday objects in a bohemian environment was considered a sign of bad taste. Gradually, the loft ceases to be a "decoration for the poor" and begins to be perceived as an elite trend.

Modern loft in the interior of the apartment: reasons for popularity

Nowadays, an apartment, the interior of which is designed in the aesthetics of a loft, has become familiar to most. In many ways, the loft is popular due to its versatility.

Ordinary large apartment private house is the right space to implement the industrial style of loft interior design in its purest form. If the room is small, then we recommend using only certain features of this style. For example, free planning, brick walls, modern equipment Against the background of antique objects, they are also appropriate if the room has a modest size.

Loft interior is open for any experiments. Rough metal furniture or an antique set on carved legs - a loft apartment will accept everything! Therefore, everyone can create an unpredictable design that is within the boundaries of style and at the same time individual. Each interior of a loft-style apartment is unique. Modern eclecticism and minimalism also borrowed many features of the industrial loft style.

In addition to artists, actors and musicians, successful businessmen and representatives of the "golden youth" liked this style. The special aura of spacious, industrial premises attracted people with non-standard thinking. The loft combined the old and the new, perfectly smooth and rough surfaces, completeness and incompleteness, the warmth of wood and the coldness of stone.

Fans of minimalism often choose a loft, but unlike it, a loft strives not for simplicity, but for exquisite conciseness. If there is one single chair or sofa in the center of the room, then they will be really bright and worthy of attention, thanks to their unique design and shapes, like art objects.

For whom is the loft style in the interior of the apartment suitable?

Many people like loft interiors, but they will feel most comfortable in it:

  • representatives of creative professions, for whom an apartment is not only a living space, but also an office, workshop or exhibition hall;
  • tenants with a minimum budget for the arrangement of the premises: brick walls, concrete floors and ceilings are left in their original form, which saves on finishing;
  • fans of the minimalist style: laconic furnishings in the spirit of minimalism are an integral feature of the loft space;
  • owners of large premises without internal partitions and walls, who prefer the apartment to remain spacious and free;
  • lovers of extravagant combinations who believe that the interior must be modern and unusual;
  • single people or married couples without children who do not need a personal isolated space.

Loft is diverse in its manifestations. Therefore, if the characteristics listed above do not suit you, do not get upset and forget about the loft style. Professional designer will find original way bring loft features to the design of the room. For instance, scandinavian interior with loft style elements - an affordable and aesthetic solution.

A white loft in the interior is an idea that will appeal to those who consider this style too brutal. Pastel colors soften the excessive expressiveness of the situation, and it becomes light and airy.

Loft style: main varieties

Most often, this style is divided into two main varieties:

  • Hard (hard loft): when an interior is created from the space of an existing building.
  • Soft (soft loft): when the atmosphere of the loft is recreated from scratch.

Sometimes there are two more directions of the loft:

  • Commercial, which occupies industrial spaces with high (more than 3 m) ceilings. Such premises are used mainly for offices and businesses.
  • Residential, entirely focused on creating living space.

The modern loft style is presented in three main directions:

  • boho: the interior combines diverse things - from kitsch, bought on the market, to antique, having antique value;
  • glamorous: the furnishings consist of exquisite antiques or fashion items; the use of pastel colors contrasting with brick or concrete walls is encouraged;
  • industrial: the design of the room is “industrial” and rough; the atmosphere is replete with minimalist furniture, the latest appliances and equipment.

Use the loft style that best suits your tastes!

Basic characteristics of the loft style

Interior design in the loft style implies a number of mandatory characteristics:

  • free layout with a minimum number of walls and partitions;
  • careful zoning: to separate functional areas from each other, they use means that do not violate the principle of free planning: the wall and partitions are replaced with screens, tall furniture, and a change in types of finishes;
  • minimalism in the setting: only things that are used daily for work and leisure remain in sight, and household utensils and equipment are made as invisible as possible;
  • contrasting combinations of old and new: for example, dilapidated brick wall decoration is adjacent to a shiny metal pipe, transparent glass surfaces, chrome wall tiles;
  • industrial design: high ceiling, under which communications and pipes pass, brick wall decoration, concrete ceiling, rough wood details;

  • rough floor coverings: reclaimed floorboards or concrete surface, which can be softened with a fluffy rug, fur or clear varnish;
  • modern household appliances: the interior, as a rule, is complemented by the most advanced technology with a stylish, up-to-date design;
  • the concept of space is emphasized with furniture: very spacious armchairs, comfortable chairs, huge sofas are selected;
  • "open access" and mobility: all items in the interior are as functional as possible, and it is convenient to approach them from different angles. Particularly popular are double-sided shelving, massive wall-to-wall shelves and furniture on wheels.

Interior furniture in loft style

Loft style implies the use of furniture not only for its intended purpose, but also to separate one functional area from another. For example, the reception area is separated from the dining area with a high-back sofa located perpendicular to the wall. Therefore, it is recommended to place furniture not along the walls, but at a certain distance from them.

The design of furniture used within the loft style is not limited by strict requirements. But most often these are vintage or ultra-modern products with laconic forms. A high-tech metal interior element can be located next to an elegant designer item.

The interior of the loft-style room also allows for the presence of plastic furniture. But any furniture that the loft interior style allows should be expressive and eye-catching. A leather sofa is considered a kind of classic furniture in loft aesthetics.

It is not customary to flaunt cabinets and storage systems, but placing a metal rack or a floor hanger in front of everyone is acceptable. The most popular loft-style furniture materials are aluminum, leather, stainless steel, plastic, copper, and brass. Loft style does not imply the use of furniture sets, especially cabinet furniture. Definitely not suitable and furniture in country or ethnic style - the apartment will look tasteless.

Loft style: finishing options

The decoration characteristic of the loft style is deliberately primitive and rough, looking casual. Walls, ceiling and floor can be aged using special technologies. All surfaces have an expressive rough texture.

If initially the walls, ceiling and floor are smooth, then decorative “concrete-like” plaster or brick imitating tiles are used. Another option to achieve a casual look of surfaces is to clean them from layers of finishing materials to concrete or brick.

  • An indispensable element of style - visible metal pipes. The metal surface is not treated with colored paints. Acceptable Solution there will be only painting "under the metal" in order to enhance the metallic sheen of the pipes. Often to reinforce decorative effect pipes are replaced by more massive ones.
  • Ceiling decorated wooden beams - one more salient feature loft style. The beams are left in their original form, without painting or varnishing. In the absence of beams, their false counterparts are mounted.

  • Brick-lined walls recognizable sign loft style. But each of the walls can have a special, different finish from the others. So the apartment will be further divided into functional areas. For example, a plastered wall with a sofa next to it will become a guest area. And in the kitchen area, the wall can be concrete. As for the color range of coloring, the dark wall is a rare occurrence for the loft style. The decoration of the walls is kept in light or silvery tones.
  • Floor as part of the style, the loft is covered with tiles that imitate stone, or wooden flooring with an aged effect.

  • Palette includes predominantly natural shades (gray, brown, silver, metallic, white, black, beige, terracotta, etc.), without overly bright combinations.
  • materials, imitating natural wood, stone, rusty metal, rough concrete, brickwork will fit perfectly into this style.

Loft style lighting

The loft-style interior implies the presence of sufficient natural light. After all, this style cannot be imagined without large windows through which sunlight freely penetrates. Textile curtains are used extremely rarely. If necessary, they are replaced with blinds.

In order for an apartment or room to acquire a truly loft design, we recommend using lamps on busbar systems. Such lighting devices, resembling small spotlights, create a stream of directional light. As a result, the situation in the living room will approach the atmosphere of the production workshop.

Many designers specializing in loft style advise that there are a lot of lamps, but at the same time, the light should not hurt the eyes and be too bright. Multi-level lamps and even sophisticated antique chandeliers look spectacular. However, apart from artificial lighting daylight should pass well into the room, so the size of the windows, if possible, should be increased and thick dark curtains should be abandoned.

Loft style: characteristic decor

When creating a do-it-yourself loft-style interior, limit the use of decor. Small figurines and sentimental trinkets are out of place. A suitable decorative element is a large-sized artistic photo, a large vase, designer armchair. The picture for the interior of the loft is suitable abstract or in the style of pop art.

It is not necessary to post photos or paintings in the traditional way. It looks interesting to look like a similar decor in large frames, standing on the floor and attached to the wall. Homemade collages from photos and magazine clippings would be appropriate.

The loft style allows the use of all items included in the urban culture as decors. The interior will be decorated with road signs, advertising posters, posters and even graffiti.

Loft-style dining area and kitchen

The kitchen is a secondary room in the loft space, so its design fades into the background. It is customary for the kitchen to be small and located in the depths of the living space. It can be stylized "antique". For example, finding a retro refrigerator is not difficult. Thematic design of the kitchen will be complemented by old photos and wooden furniture.

The interior of the loft-style kitchen can also be designed in the spirit of high-tech. Its characteristics are the latest equipment, an abundance of metal, glass and chrome. built-in Appliances takes up a minimum of space, so a high-tech kitchen will fit perfectly into the loft concept.

The idea for the kitchen is to stylize it as a catering establishment of the middle of the last century: for example, a small street cafe. Mandatory pieces of furniture for such a kitchen are a bar counter with high-backed chairs. If a bar counter in the kitchen seems unattractive, then try using a small island table instead.

The atmosphere of the kitchen will be complemented by a professional coffee machine, a lot of original utensils. Loft kitchen allows decor in the form of hanging flower pots with flower plants. So the kitchen will become more comfortable. The placement of photos and posters on the "kitchen" theme is welcome.

The loft kitchen can be equipped with a table and chairs made of any material: wood, metal or plastic. Chairs of different styles will look interesting in the kitchen - for example, an old model with a leather back and a trendy one made of glass and metal.

One wall can traditionally be supplemented with bare brickwork or concrete, and on the floor it is better to emphasize rough wood flooring. For example, you can choose a laminate that mimics wide, unfinished wood planks. It is perfectly acceptable to leave the ceiling unfinished, even if it is ordinary concrete slabs. Against the background of a brick wall, modern plasma, an abstract panel or a graphite board will look contrasting and spectacular.

The palette emphasizes cold shades (white, pale brown, black, gray, terracotta). If you still want to paint one of the walls in a rich color, then it should also be present in several other interior items: for example, a table of the same bright shade can harmonize well with a red wall.

All kinds of chrome-plated fittings (handles, holders, roof rails, hangers) will help to add a characteristic hi-tech shine. At the same time, the kitchen apron should not be flashy and colorful: it is enough to use a plain stainless steel sheet. Warm and soft accents can be made with a few textiles in light colors.

Loft style living room

Complex textures become a real decoration of a loft-style living room: genuine leather and velvet upholstery, a long pile of a fluffy carpet, an exotic skin on the floor. The interior of a loft-style living room cannot be imagined without a home theater or a powerful stereo system.

The loft living room is a space where there is always a large sofa that can accommodate numerous groups of friends. The living room is complemented by a small coffee table. An antique model or a table made of pallets is decided taking into account the style in which the living room is decorated.

The living room is a suitable place to place a real fireplace or its imitation. This interior element will make the brutal loft style home-style warm and cozy. The loft living room is decorated with original candlesticks, photos or posters in large frames, standing on the floor, and designer figurines.

Wall, ceiling and floor coverings are best left in their original form. Or apply this approach to one thing - only to the walls or only to the ceiling. The easiest option is to stick photo wallpapers with the image on the walls. brickwork or concrete. If there are communication pipes along the ceiling, it is better to leave them in plain sight.

Loft style bedroom design

The bedroom should be separated from the rest of the space, for example, with a high partition or a mobile screen. After all, the loft free layout does not contribute to the privacy necessary for a good rest. Also, the bedroom can be separated by a small chest of drawers.

A bright detail of the bedroom can be a high bed with wrought iron legs and headboard. When choosing bedside tables for the bedroom, try to play on the contrast. For example, if the headboard in the bedroom has a sophisticated design, then you should choose bedside tables of primitive geometric shapes, artificially aged. In the bedroom, a miniature reading nook will be useful, consisting of a miniature table, a trendy rocking chair and a wall lamp.

The loft style allows the bedroom to be decorated according to minimalist trends. Then the bed and bedside tables are chosen laconic, of small height. The loft bedroom looks harmonious with snow-white or light bed linen. Such textiles favorably emphasize the overall brutality of the bedroom space.

It should not be colorful and too defiant. It is better to stick to plain, natural fabrics. To emphasize the spaciousness and air of the loft, it is advisable to choose curtains that are light, light, almost transparent. Instead of classic curtains, Roman blinds or blinds are also suitable.

The decor of the bedroom is the original lamps standing on the bedside tables, a plaid or carpet with a large ornament. Do not forget that a bedroom in any style should maintain an overall atmosphere of peace and relaxation. Therefore, excessively bright accents in the bedroom should be avoided. For example, instead of a flashy abstract painting, choose a discreet black and white photo as your bedroom decor.

It would be nice to organize a niche in the bedroom. This approach is especially appropriate when the house has a second floor, and the niche can be located under the stairs. For a contrast of styles that is acceptable when decorating a loft, you can simultaneously use different-sized interior items: a grandmother's chest, a modern bed, a chrome-plated wardrobe and leather furniture. But all of them should be simple concise forms and contain a minimum of details. If you plan to place a mirror, then it is better to take a large mirror sheet in an ordinary wooden frame and put it on the floor or attach it to the wall.

Bath and bathroom in loft style

The loft bath "antique" looks interesting. The extravagant loft style is effectively emphasized by gilded details - furniture legs, taps, communications. Do-it-yourself loft interior allows for independent, slightly careless, coloring of these details. The functional decor of the loft-style bath will be a mirror in a silver or gold frame.

As an additional finishing material, try using mosaic tiles. Often the bath, even in new buildings, has a partial brickwork. It should be treated with a moisture-proof composition, and the resulting surface will withstand temperature fluctuations in humidity in the bath. Another option to recreate the loft style in the bathroom is ceramic tiles imitating brick.

If desired, the bath is decorated in high-tech style. Then a jacuzzi, an ultramodern shower with many options, and lamps that change the color of the light flux become mandatory attributes of the interior of such a bath. The gleam of chrome and steel in the bathtub contrasts with the loft's rough textures. The bath is decorated with designer toothbrush holders and original soap dishes.

If the bathroom space allows, then you can occupy it with spectacular furniture that immediately attracts attention. And it is not necessary to choose only modern models: both vintage and antique quirky things will successfully fit into such a room. For example, an ordinary wooden bench from a Russian bath or an old chest can become a bold statement and a practical piece of furniture.

According to the canons of style, storage systems should be open and accessible. Therefore, instead of closed drawers, it is better to use racks, baskets and shelves. A stylish contrast with raw brick or concrete surfaces will be created by modern, laconic hi-tech plumbing. If the plan is to make a vintage bath the key center, then it is better to choose the most relevant faucet on the market for it.

Let the decor of the bathroom be minimal without cute vases and bottles. Interior items should be as practical as possible. Remove useless accessories. In the design of the loft style, urban things and modern art objects are welcome.
