How does a water heater work? There is a tank inside the device, in which there is a heating element. The principle of operation of the EVN. Cold water enters the electric water heater from the central water supply. There are 2 pipes in the tank - one of which is designed for cold water supply, equipped with a divider for constant heating (located at the bottom). Second pipe for hot water intake (located at the top).

Full heating time depends on the volume of the tank (from one to five hours). The desired temperature is set individually, using a thermostat (it can be mechanical or electronic, the latter shows a more accurate temperature), the maximum temperature is 75 degrees.

After the EWH reaches the set temperature, the device turns off on its own, the temperature is constantly maintained as long as the device is connected to the mains, it does not matter if there was a water flow or it just cooled down. The water in the tank does not mix due to the fact that the incoming cold liquid displaces the hot one upward.

The mechanism responsible for heating water is called a heating element. Based on how many liters your water heater depends on the number of heating elements (there can be from one to six) and their capacity. If the device has two heating elements, then you can reduce the load and use the device in economy mode.

For example, for fifteen-liter devices, one heating element with a capacity of 1.2 kilowatts per hour is quite enough, in 80-liter ABS VLS EVO PW 80 models, two heating elements are installed, the power of which is 2.5 kilowatts per hour. The time it takes for an electric heating device to heat up depends on the power of the heating elements.

Why thermal insulation is needed

The Ariston electric water heater is a tank, it can be enameled or silver-coated (in expensive models), the case is closed. The service life of tanks made of enamelled steel is longer, besides, the formation and accumulation of scale is much less.

To maintain the heating temperature, there is a heat-insulating layer between the tank and the body. For thermal insulation, foamed polyurethane or foam rubber is most often used.

Heat loss in fifty-liter EVN is about 12 degrees in 24 hours. This is subject to good thermal insulation, if the outside of the tank is warm, this indicates that the thermal insulation is very weak, and heat loss occurs. When you open the hot water valve, it comes out of the device, in order to adjust the temperature, open cold water and equalize.
