For right choice heating radiators need to know about their main technical parameters. Otherwise, the result may not meet expectations. There are not so many really important parameters for radiators, so even a non-professional can easily understand them.

Features of the choice of heating devices

Now people no longer need to hide or, because modern appliances can become a worthy decoration for any interior. Radiators sold today may vary in color, size, material of manufacture and general style execution, so it will not be difficult to choose the most suitable option.

Attention! Despite the fact that we are accustomed to light-colored batteries, the heat dissipation of black devices is approximately ¼ higher due to color alone. Although when choosing a color it is better to focus on the design of the home and personal preferences.

With regards to the form, it must be streamlined. For security reasons, it is advisable to refuse sharp corners altogether, especially if children live in the house. Please read the strong and weaknesses each of existing species radiators to determine which is more suitable for a particular room. The first thing you should pay attention to is the working pressure of the devices.

Depending on the material, radiators are divided into:

The pressure mentioned above, the heat transfer coefficient, heat capacity, resistance to mechanical and chemical damage, as well as the service life depend on the material.

Radiators in the interior

Also pay attention to the method of connection to the heating line. The connection can be side, bottom and universal. It is characteristic that in modern radiators all these connection methods are provided.

Attention! The environmental friendliness of the material used in the manufacture of heating devices is also very important. There should be no formaldehyde in the internal elements, and high-quality polymer spraying on the surface is also welcome.

Now in more detail about each material.

Characteristics of aluminum radiators

Heating appliances made of are considered one of the most popular types of radiators. Aluminum is a light and ductile metal, therefore, batteries made from it weigh a little and are characterized by increased heat dissipation.

The devices consist of sections, each of which is a set of interconnected plates. Thanks to this, heat saving is also at a fairly high level here.

Advantages such units are as follows:

At the same time, after turning off the heating, such radiators cool down quite quickly. Among the others shortcomings worth highlighting:

  • instability to chemical influences (the problem can be solved by polymer spraying on the inner surface);
  • low strength;
  • poor quality threaded connection in the top valve to bleed air from the system.

In view of this, before buying, it is imperative to inquire about the operating pressure of the heating system. The maximum pressure of a particular product must be viewed in the data sheet, since it is different for different models.

But still, according to its characteristics, aluminum is excellent for the manufacture of radiators, and its fusibility has made it possible to significantly expand the lineup. Today you can choose exactly the battery that fits perfectly into the interior of your home.

Characteristics of bimetallic batteries

The main difference between bimetallic radiators is the use of two different metals in the manufacturing process - steel to create the core and aluminum to assemble the case. Thanks to this, the rod is very durable. Another advantage of such products is the high working pressure, which can reach 50 (!) Atmospheres. Moreover, steel perfectly "cooperates" even with the water in which there are various impurities, while aluminum heats up quickly and gives off maximum heat.

In a word, the use of two metals at once made it possible to obtain radiators that have the advantages of each of them. Therefore, it is quite obvious that the cost of these devices is the highest among all possible options.

Attention! are used mainly for heating industrial and public facilities. In residential buildings, they are rare due to the high cost.

The service life is 20-25 years, which is quite normal.

Characteristics of cast iron radiators

Such batteries are the most common and known to every option, since they are installed in most of the typical apartments. Agree, old cast iron appliances can hardly be considered stylish and attractive. New models look better, but in terms of aesthetic indicators they are still significantly inferior to devices made of other materials.

As you know, cast iron is very heavy. Batteries made from it weigh a lot, which cannot but affect the complexity of transportation and installation.

Consider their main Benefits.

But cast iron has limitations, among which:

  • significant weight;
  • slow heating;
  • unaesthetic.

Attention! Despite the abundance of more modern analogues, many prefer to install exactly cast iron batteries trusting what has been tested for decades.

Cast iron radiators

In the manufacture of these devices using low-carbon steel. In order to protect the surface is coated with a special enamel. If good quality, then they have excellent operating parameters, among which:

  • strength;
  • reliability;
  • resistance to corrosion;
  • durability;
  • resistance to various kinds of aggressive substances.

Such batteries can be tubular and panel.

Tubular appliances

They are used to assemble steel pipes with high quality polymer coating. The maximum load that the devices can handle depends solely on the thickness of the pipe walls. It is desirable that the pipes are made of stainless steel.

The service life of tubular devices significantly exceeds that of panel devices and is about 30 years. It is possible to connect in all the ways described above. The working pressure is 10-16 atmospheres, more detailed data should be clarified in the product data sheet.

Prominent representatives of tubular radiators are models manufactured by Loten:

  • Loten Gray V;
  • horizontal LotenGrey Z.

These radiators are made of steel profile pipe having a rectangular cross section. In addition to providing comfortable heating, the presented radiators demonstrate the latest trends in the design of heating devices, perfectly fitting into the interior of any home.

When creating Loten tubular radiators, there were two main ideas:

  • to create high-quality heating equipment: for the manufacture of radiators, high-strength metal with a wall thickness of 2.5 mm is used, due to which these heaters have a working pressure of 16 atm. Radiators withstand a test pressure of 25 atm;
  • at the same time turn the battery into a stylish element of the interior of a home, office space, location common use etc.

The presented models of heaters can have a different number of sections, from 4 to 12. The length of the sections varies from 750 to 2000 mm. The price of each heating element is directly dependent on the following parameters:

  • number and length of sections;
  • connection type (side/bottom).

Without extra charge, you can purchase radiator models painted in colors that are at the peak of popularity regarding interior design:

  • matte black;
  • classic white;
  • soft beige;
  • concrete grey.

However, lovers of a bright environment can order any other colors and shades.

The presented models of radiators are suitable for connection to a central as well as an autonomous system. The size range is really wide, you can equip the presented radiators as a cozy small one-room apartment, and a spacious country mansion.

Each model can be with side or bottom connection. Heating systems that are suitable for this battery can be:

  • single-pipe;
  • two-pipe.

The high quality of the material and the laconic style of the products will allow them to take place for many years not only in the apartment, but also in the list of your preferred interior items. Their peculiarity is that they have a long service life (warranty - 5 years, service life - 30 years), so you will not have to think about changing batteries soon. So, you can confidently trust the manufacturer, and make a choice in favor of the considered devices.

Panel devices

As the name suggests, such radiators are made in the form of panels. To do this, a certain number of steel plates are connected to each other. Thanks to this assembly, a high heat capacity is achieved, while the thickness of each individual plate is negligible. In addition, they weigh a little and provide the ability to connect in all available ways.

Attention! Before buying new heaters, look at how your old ones are connected. It is advisable to have new batteries as well.

The cost of panel radiators is slightly higher than the average, the operating pressure is 10 atmospheres. According to experts, such units are best used in autonomous heating systems Oh. As for city apartments, the use of such batteries is unacceptable here due to too high pressure in the central system.

Steel radiators

As a conclusion

It should be noted that any of the described types of batteries can be used for residential heating systems. Although the purchase of bimetallic devices is often impractical, because their advantages are almost the same as those of aluminum, and the cost is several times higher. Therefore, it is better that they continue to remain in industrial and public facilities.

It is undesirable to install aluminum appliances in apartments due to pressure drops in the system that negatively affect the metal. The optimal and proven option for apartments for years is cast-iron batteries. One way or another, you need to focus on financial capabilities and personal wishes.

For those who don't want to dive into independent calculations, we recommend using a special calculator for calculations, which takes into account almost all the nuances that affect the efficiency of space heating.

Bimetallic radiators are the same batteries from the times of the USSR, only they have a different look, materials and characteristics. Here the sections are more tightly pressed against each other, they have a flat surface. There is no cast iron here, the main material is steel. They conduct heat well, perfectly maintain the temperature in the room and are highly energy efficient. But even among them there are lower-quality designs, so we analyzed 30 models and included in this rating the best bimetallic radiators for heating apartments and private houses from popular companies. Expert opinion

The best bimetallic radiator for an apartment and a house makes this model a good heat dissipation, which allows you to comfortably stay in the house even in the coldest season. Such an indicator became possible as a result of the large surface of the product and due to the use of aluminum.

The design is highly durable, due to which it can be mounted both with autonomous heating systems and with centralized ones. But still, there is a strict limitation of the working pressure - up to 35 atm. The manufacturer made it sectional, and this facilitates the installation process, since you can reduce or increase the number of sections at your discretion.

Advantages:

  • Good build quality;
  • Simple design that easily fits into any interiors;
  • Does not corrode;
  • Neat size and shape;
  • Creates a directed air-heat flow.

Disadvantages:

  • Do not use abrasive cleaners on the radiator.
  • Need automatic air valves.

This bimetal heating radiator was selected from the top 10 contenders who could not match it in terms of economy and efficiency of use. Being made of steel and aluminum, it gives off a lot of heat and does not allow freezing even in cool rooms. True, for rooms from 20 sq. m. you need at least 5 sections, although there are no problems with this, since you can always order the required number of them, but at the same time it cannot exceed 20 pcs. According to reviews, the design heats up quickly due to the small volume of water (0.2 l per 1 section). Hang it on the wall and it fits easily under the window.

Advantages:

  • High quality workmanship;
  • The maximum operating overpressure is 40 atmospheres;
  • Large margin of safety;
  • Good resistance to hydraulic and any other loads;
  • Beautiful painting, without yellowness;
  • High degree of tightness.

Disadvantages:

  • Sometimes they crackle a little.

In reviews of the Sira RS Bimetal 500 models, they indicate accurate dimensions, due to which it can be installed even in small rooms with low window sills.

Rifar Base 500×14 is a budget bimetal radiator designed for wall mounting. Because of this, it remains almost invisible to guests. The manufacturer offers 3 versions in different sizes, which allows you to choose the most suitable design, taking into account the quadrature of the room. At the same time, here the standard structure, which includes 14 sections, is not offered by the company to supplement or remove them.

The product weighs almost 27 kg, which can create some difficulties during installation and require assistance from outside. Despite the thin fins, the design has an excellent margin of safety and retains heat well. The reviews include a neutral attitude towards the bright white color of the frame, which quickly becomes dirty. At the same time, it is impossible to clean the surface with anything.

Advantages:

  • Good heat dissipation;
  • Beautiful design;
  • Fast heating;
  • Withstands pressure surges;
  • Resistant to aggressive coolants.

Disadvantages:

  • Factory, standard.

The reviews speak positively about the quality of the Rifar Base 500 × 14 joints, so there can be no talk of breakthroughs and floods, and time has practically no effect on the strength of products.

This bimetal radiator is the best representative classic products. He has optimal height at 415 mm and can be easily placed even in small spaces. Due to its average thickness, heat enters the room faster and is maintained at the proper level. Its use is safe, but you should not exceed the pressure of 36 bar. The pipes are made of steel, which is famous for its excellent heat-conducting properties, but at the same time, in order to avoid corrosion, it is better not to leave water inside during the off-season.

Advantages:

  • Quick connection, lateral;
  • Wide range of options for completing sections;
  • Manufacturer's warranty;
  • Withstands the impact of even not very high-quality water;
  • High strength;
  • Good coverage.

Disadvantages:

  • Better to use with domestic heating systems.

Model Rommer Profi Bm 350 fits easily into any interior and does not distract attention from it due to the standard design and small size.

The peculiarity of this model lies in the possibility of its use in heating systems with both low and high quality coolant. The radiator performs well even where it has high pressure, up to 40 bar. This is somewhat more than some analogues from the rating.

It should also be noted the decent quality of painting, which has been preserved for many years. Unfortunately, it is impossible to choose the required number of sections here, they are offered 1, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12. The walls of the product are quite strong and withstand high pressure, and the steel from which the pipes are made does not deform.

Advantages:

  • Two-stage painting technology;
  • A small volume of water in the section - 0.2 l;
  • Large serviced area;
  • Light weight at 12 kg;
  • Warms up well.

Disadvantages:

  • One height in 55.7 cm.

The best bimetal radiators with bottom connection

This method of connecting to the heating system is quite rare. Basically, it is used in private houses in which radiators are installed one after the other. In this case, the coolant moves along the chain, but is not always distributed evenly. Because of this, some pipes can be warmer, others colder. For this, here we apply circulation pump, which creates a coolant current inside. We have studied the available options and selected the best bimetal radiators.

Rifar Monolith Ventil

This bimetal radiator was included in the rating due to the optimal price-quality ratio. It is very "hardy" in relation to heat carriers, its sections can withstand water impacts up to 150 bar. Reviews show that leaks are not detected due to well-designed joints. The heat dissipation here is almost perfect, so the temperature in the apartment or house is maintained at good level even with prolonged use. But to count on the fact that one such design will heat an area of more than 30 square meters. m. is no longer necessary.

The Rifar Monolit Ventil radiator has a beautiful white color and quality coating which withstands moisture and other negative factors. This option is also advantageous because it is suitable for both new and old heating systems. For efficient space heating, it needs 0.21 liters per section, which indicates a high efficiency.

Advantages:

  • Factory warranty for 25 years;
  • Pleasant design;
  • Withstands temperatures up to 135 °C;
  • Smooth surface;
  • The optimal height is 57.7 cm;
  • Cools down slowly;
  • Weight in 12 kg.

Disadvantages:

  • There is no way to complete the sections at your discretion.

The delivery set contains everything you need to connect the radiator - flow distributors, a Mayevsky tap, plugs and valves.

This is another design that has an original design due to the vertical arrangement of sections. The standard set includes 18 of them, which provides high heat capacity and allows you to quickly raise the air temperature even in large rooms. Such characteristics can be explained by the good, according to reviews, power of the bimetallic radiator of 2142 W and the small volume of the required coolant of 3.78 liters of water for the entire structure. It is connected at the bottom and the elements of connection with the heating system from the side are almost imperceptible.

Advantages:

  • Withstands temperatures up to 110 °C;
  • The walls warm up quickly;
  • Beautiful design;
  • A simple way of eyeliner;
  • Warms up well.

Disadvantages:

  • Requires a lot of wall space due to the height of 1440 mm;
  • Not low price.

First of all, this bimetallic radiator differs from other models in the rating by its appearance. It has rather wide sections, due to which it was possible to reduce the cost of the structure and not lose it in heat transfer. It hangs on the wall and, with an average height of 55.2 cm, fits easily into any space, including under windows. One section holds 0.22 liters of water, and its quality is not particularly important here. Due to the fact that it is less in the heating system and it heats up almost instantly, the room becomes warmer much faster than at high rates.

Advantages:

  • Maximum operating temperature - 110 ° C;
  • High quality parts;
  • Good build;
  • High-quality surface painting;
  • Low sensitivity to a sharp change in pressure in the system.

Disadvantages:

  • Sold in at least 3 units.

Which bimetallic radiators are better to buy

Models with resistance to the chemical composition of the coolant in the range of 6.5-9 pH are considered a good choice. The weight of one section is usually 1.5-2 kg. The average heat transfer rate is 100-185 watts. For effective work the design must withstand a pressure of at least 25 atmospheres. In a quality product, both collectors and vertical tubes are made of steel. With the standard placement of window sills, you can choose a radiator with a height of about 0.5 m, but in the case of a lower location, you will need models up to 0.35 cm.

Here is which bimetallic radiator is better to buy, depending on the purpose:

  • For use in old-style systems, Global Style 500 will be relevant.
  • In small rooms, you can get by with the Sira RS Bimetal 500 heater.
  • In houses where low-quality coolant is supplied to the pipes, you can use the Rifar Base 500 x
  • If there are often pressure surges in heating systems, then you should pay special attention to Rommer Profi Bm 350.
  • If you need a radiator with very fast heating, then the Lammin Eco BM-500-80 has proven itself well here.
  • For heating areas of about 20 sq. m. the Rifar Monolit Ventil 500 x5 model will be useful.
  • With autonomous heating, you should consider choosing the Royal Thermo PianoForte Tower x 18.
  • IN small rooms you can put Radena VC 500.

By choosing the best bimetal radiator, very soon you will notice how the house will become warmer. The rating includes only those models that received a lot of positive feedback customers and have been successfully tested in practice. There is also budget options, and premium models, we hope everyone will find a suitable offer!

Differences between bimetallic and semi-bimetallic radiators, sectional and monolithic

Bimetallic
. The outer casing of the heater is made of aluminum, and the inside is made of steel or copper (models with a copper core are used on autonomous systems heating with coolant in the form of antifreeze).

Due to this, the bimetallic radiator is able to work in extreme conditions at high temperature and high pressure. Guaranteed safe use in any type of room.

semi-bimetallic
. The inner core is made of various metals (vertical pipes are made of stainless steel, and horizontal pipes are made of aluminum).

Therefore, such radiators not suitable for central heating systems, since aluminum corrodes when in contact with the coolant.

These radiators attract buyers with low cost. Shouldn't be forgotten about which heating systems they are suitable for in order to avoid accidents and leaks. Even an autonomous heating system does not guarantee the safety of using a semi-bimetallic unit.

Sectional. Each section has a thread with which any subsequent part of the radiator is attached.

In these radiators frequent leaks due to a loose connection or a damaged gasket.

Joints can be damaged by the coolant, which leads to an accident and early failure of the heater.

Important: if one section fails, there is no need to change the entire radiator, it is enough to replace the damaged sector.

To increase power heat supply, you can build up new sections. Sectional models are best used in autonomous heating systems, they do not withstand water hammer.

Monolithic. A solid copper or steel manifold is cast into an aluminum mold to form a monolithic block.

Leaks in these types of radiators are lethal, monoliths not being repaired, only complete replacement. At the same time, they are able to withstand pressure up to 100 bar, which is 4-5 times higher than that of sectional units.

Possess longer service life- up to 50 years, but are more expensive. Before buying a monolithic bimetallic radiator, you need to calculate how much power is needed to heat the room.

A matter of choice one or another bimetallic unit for the room can be preliminarily decided based on the ratings the best manufacturers and models and thus avoid purchasing a low-quality product.
