It may seem to you that it is impossible to surprise someone with such a completely ordinary piece of furniture as an ottoman, but this is not so! The advantage of an upholstered chair is that it is not only easy to manufacture, but also multifunctional. On a homemade chair, you can read or lie down, arrange a cozy corner for a pet, or even store some little things.

You can combine business with pleasure - get rid of trash and get an unusual chair

Many years ago, when ordinary chairs had not yet come into use on a permanent basis, and things needed to be put somewhere, ottomans were invented in the eastern part of Europe. This piece of furniture was used as an addition to the bed, a soft stool on which you could change clothes and fold things. Before the advent of ottomans, this function was performed by ordinary boxes. Over time, storage furniture changed, became smaller and more mobile, and then completely became a full-fledged interior detail and sometimes even a luxury item.

The base is the most important thing in a good ottoman. You can save money and make this piece of furniture yourself using anything: a piece of board, cardboard, a tire from a car wheel, or even the most ordinary box.

Important! As the main material and frame for the future ottoman, it is best to use a reliable, strong base that will not fall apart if an adult sits on it.

It may seem that there is no need to bother so much if you can buy ready-made furniture in the store. However, often, after the repair has already been done and the turn has come to buy furniture, people find that the ottoman that is in the store does not match the color of the curtains or bedspread.

You can make furniture of any shape and color on your own, and in order not to be mistaken, you should first study the photos and find the perfect option that can be repeated.

Ideas for making your own pouffe from improvised means

Can be used perfectly different materials, for example, something that should have gone to the trash for a long time - old jeans, pieces of fabric and everything that is lying under your feet.

The basis for a bedside soft chair can be made even from old pillowcases.

Making your own ottoman from plastic bottles step by step

Plastic bottles are stored in abundance in many apartments, but instead of throwing them away, you can make simple furniture. People have long learned to make frames for sofas and beds out of plastic, not to mention such a simple thing as an ottoman. To get furniture suitable for use, you should study the technology and follow the instructions.

Advice! In order for the future ottoman to get a beautiful shape, it is necessary to prepare all materials and bottles in advance. Plastic is laid out in the cold, if it is winter outside, or in the refrigerator. The bottle is closed in cold air, held for several minutes, and then the temperature is changed sharply, laying it on hot battery. Thanks to this processing method, the bottle acquires an ideal shape and becomes denser.

Prepared bottles are pulled together in one pile and tied with tape or twine, you should get a dense, not crumbling cylinder.
The workpiece is placed on a cardboard or board, circled, after which the base is cut out strictly according to the workpiece, right size. Cotton wool or foam rubber and fabric are stretched onto one such circle, the bottom of the ottoman should be obtained.

The whole structure is fastened with adhesive tape or glue-moment. In order to securely fasten the ottoman, it is recommended to additionally use twine and wrap the bottles with it several times.

The whole structure is wrapped in foam rubber. Using a thread and an awl, you need to flash the foam rubber and fix it on the workpiece.
The seat is made of thick cardboard or board.
A cover is put on the finished ottoman, which can be sewn from anything.

The finished empty bottle must also be covered with foam rubber, after which pillowcases or sewn covers are put on the ottoman and sewn up.

How to make a do-it-yourself ottoman from a tire

The process of creating puffs for a room from a tire can be called the simplest, since you only need to prepare the surface and fit it with improvised means.

Stages of work:

  1. The outlines of the future pouffe are outlined with a pencil on plywood.
  2. Using a jigsaw, you need to cut out a circle and use nails to nail the workpiece to the tire.
  3. A string is twisted on a wooden base, for this you need to glue the end of the thread to the very center, and wind the rope, gradually gluing it.
  4. If the cord suddenly runs out, you can attach a new twine with glue.
  5. When the entire tire is glued, you need to attach either the same piece or legs from below.
  6. You can paint the finished pouf with acrylic paint.

Stages of work

We make an ottoman from an old bucket

If a leaky bucket is lying around in a shed or on a balcony, you can not rush to throw it away, but use it to create furniture for the home.

To get a beautiful pouf, you need to follow the instructions:

IllustrationAction Description
The handle is separated from the bucket, then it is worth preparing all the materials that are available at home: glue gun, synthetic winterizer, fabric, strong rope.
Large twine or rope can be pre-painted with paint.
From the top, the bucket is smeared with glue, after which a rope is wound around it.
You need to prepare soft covers in advance. One circle should repeat the shape of the bottom, and the other - the shape of the wide part of the bucket and walls.
Any edges of the twine that remain sticking out can be hidden under the fabric.
Instead of a bucket lid, thick cardboard lined with fabric is applied. The upper part of the bucket should be made soft with a padding polyester. It is recommended to make indents, leaving room so that the seat does not fall into the bucket.
For beauty, you can glue a button in the center of the seat, as is done on decorative pillows.
A small piece of fabric is glued to the bottom of the lid. Now we glue the soft cover to the standard one so that the side is on top.
With the help of a rope, you can complete the work and make a beautiful edging.

Home library can fit perfectly under the seat

It is very easy to make a spool pouffe, since the base is almost ready. It remains only to make a soft seat and attach it. The main thing is to make sure that the design is stable, especially if it will stand in the children's room.

Options for making do-it-yourself ottomans for the bedroom

Initially, furniture such as a pouffe was invented exclusively for. Representatives of the aristocracy folded clothes for the day on a bedside pouffe and changed into clothes for sleeping.

The pouf was also used in a different way, an aristocrat tired during the day fell on the bed and put his feet on the pouf, and the servant took off his shoes. Today, poufs are not only in bedrooms, but also in living rooms, as well as in children's rooms and are multifunctional furniture.

Soft square ottoman

The most common and classic version in Europe is a square-shaped pouffe, lined with soft material. For the base, you can choose a regular box or a dense wooden box.

An alternative, which can also be made at home, is a multifunctional pouffe with a fold-down lid, under which shoes or other things are stored.

Today, soft square chairs are not used to take off shoes on them. The owners of the house put clothes or books on the pouffe, use them instead of a bedside table, or let their pets - dogs and cats - relax on a soft pouffe.

Crocheted round pouffe

A common option today is a round-shaped crocheted pouffe. You can also use large plastic bottles or cardboard as a base. A soft chair stuffed with old rags, synthetic winterizer or any other materials, but it is important to take into account the strength of the thread.

Pouffe bag: you can buy, but it's easy to sew with your own hands

Before you sew a bag yourself, you should make sure that there are enough extra rags in the house, since they will need a lot. In addition, you need to prepare the filler in large quantities.

To make things easier, you can buy a bag of cheap Styrofoam. These are light and non-creasing balls that fill the pouffe. They easily take the shape of the human body, providing a comfortable seat.

The process of sewing a cover and stuffing a pouffe is not difficult, but in order not to make a mistake, you should familiarize yourself with the video instruction in advance:

Most often, pouffes in the hallway have special device in the form of a "tongue" so that you can quickly open the lid and hide something in the chair

Ottoman on wheels with a drawer for small items

Multifunctionality is a trend today, so an ordinary seating pouffe can be turned into a great storage area or even a bedside table, especially if you attach wheels to it.

The process is surprisingly simple, and the result exceeds all expectations. The main task is to make a strong and reliable frame. Best to use wooden blanks or parcel boxes made of plywood.

Pouffe from an old stool

If there are several old stools in the house, you can not rush to get a new one, but use a blank and make a chic pouffe out of it. Cut out the base of the fabric, which is stuffed with padding polyester. You can use a knitted pillowcase, denim, or any other fabric you have in the house.

To make a comfortable and beautiful pouffe, it is not necessary to build a frame, you can simply use chair seats, fill them with padding polyester and sew a beautiful cover.

Ottomans on a wooden frame: video

One of the most simple options- prepare several boards of the same size, build a cross and connect them with a piece of wood. The base is ready.

More than a decade ago, ottomans were very popular. Today, these elements of the interior are back in fashion. On the market, this multifunctional product is presented in large assortment. But, if desired, the ottoman can be made with your own hands. To do this, you just need to select the type of construction and prepare necessary materials and tools. So, how to make an ottoman with your own hands? What will be needed for this?

Puffs made of chipboard are very popular. Such designs can withstand heavy loads and can be used as a full-fledged stool. They may also have different design features. This may be a hinged lid design or other options. In any case, to build a simple ottoman from chipboard, you will need:

  • Chipboard sheet. Its size should be 240x175x1.6 cm. You can also use plywood. Its thickness should not be less than 1.3 cm. This will be enough for adults to use the ottoman.
  • A beam with a section of 4x4 cm and a length of 150 cm.
  • If desired, the product can be made on wheels. In this case, you need 4 rollers.
  • If the ottoman is made with a hinged lid, then 2 more loops will be needed.
  • Foam rubber or synthetic winterizer is used as a filler.
  • Tapestry or other dense fabric is suitable for upholstery.

As for the tools, to make an ottoman with your own hands you will need:

  • a hacksaw with fine teeth or a jigsaw, which will allow you to cut chipboard or plywood with high quality;
  • a hammer;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • construction stapler or furniture studs with wide hats;
  • wood glue.

To simplify and speed up the process, you can use a box with legs. It is made from bars, which are interconnected by self-tapping screws. But what could be better than a handmade square ottoman on wheels with a hinged lid. Thus, the design will be used not only for sitting, but also for storing various small things or toys. A step-by-step master class will show how easy it is to organize the production of such furniture at home.

Manufacturing

So, do-it-yourself ottoman in your house is done step by step, with the exact observance of each item. So, we make a pouffe:

  1. First of all, markup is applied to the chipboard sheet. For the construction of the frame, you will need 5 identical squares, 40x40 cm in size. The result will be 4 walls and the bottom of the box. Here it is worth remembering that a rather thick material is used for the manufacture of the structure, which will ensure its resistance to various loads.

  1. As for the lid, it can be round, square or oval. A simplified version involves the manufacture of a square cover. In size, it will be slightly larger than the box. So, a blank with a size of 43x43 cm will be enough. As a result of all the work, a pouffe will be obtained, the height of which will be 53 cm. All dimensions are taken into account here, starting with the height of the box and ending with the thickness of the skin.

  1. When the markup is applied, you can safely proceed to cutting the material. Do not worry if this process results in somewhat uneven workpieces. All defects as a result will be hidden under the skin. It is also worth cutting the bar into 4 equal parts. As a result, the length of one segment will be 40 cm.
  2. Next, you need to make a box, for which ready-made blanks are used. A wooden cube is formed from plywood, in the corners of which bars are installed. Initially, they are fixed with glue. When it dries, the plywood is screwed to the bars with self-tapping screws. This will give the structure rigidity and reliability. The hats go deep into the plywood, which in the future will prevent damage to the upholstery. Also, metal corners are widely used to strengthen the structure. The bottom of the box is attached using the same technology.
  3. At the next stage, a cover for the pouffe is made. On the inside four bars are attached around the perimeter. This will prevent the cover from moving while sitting. Before fixing the bars, you need to make sure that the lid closes easily.

  1. At the final stage, the wheels are attached to the structure. For greater reliability, they should be fixed in the corners of the box, directly into the bars.

Thus, a do-it-yourself pouffe according to the given master class can be considered ready. It remains only to test it for strength and carry out the skin. At this stage, it will still be possible to eliminate the shortcomings.

Upholstery

First of all, you need to cut a piece of foam rubber. It must match the dimensions of the lid. It is fixed to it with wood glue. The next step is to cut out the fabric for the upholstery of the seat. In size, it is made somewhat larger so that it is possible to completely cover the seat and wrap the material for fastening a little. Fix the fabric with furniture nails or a construction stapler.

When the cover is ready, you can start upholstery on the sides of the pouffe. To do this, you need to take the fabric and cut a piece out of it, the length of which will be the size of the box. Since the sides are 40 cm high, the length of the workpiece should be 160 cm. In this case, you need to make a margin of several centimeters, which will allow you to bend the material for fastening. After that, you can fix the upholstery fabric on the product.

A few ideas for creating ottomans

At home, a pouffe can be made with your own hands from improvised materials. So, many are wondering how to do round ottoman with your own hands. It is very easy to make such furniture. As a base, plastic bottles are used, which are interconnected with ordinary adhesive tape.

Round blanks are attached above and below. The material used is thick cardboard or plywood. Fastening is carried out using glue or self-tapping screws. At the final stage, it remains only to wrap the structure with foam rubber and sheathe it with a cloth. In this case, you need to form the appropriate shape of the pouffe. Also for the manufacture of such furniture, you can use 20-liter plastic bottles.

A good option would be a pouffe bench with a back. It can consist of several puffs or a one-piece design. Often, ready-made stools are used to make such furniture, which will somewhat simplify the process. If desired, a pouffe bench can be made of wood yourself. It can be equipped with a folding side, which will open access to the interior space. It can be used to store shoes and other small items.

In fact, there are quite a few options for making such furniture in the hallway. As a material for the frame, improvised materials are used, such as a cardboard barrel, pipe sections, and even plastic boxes. If desired, you can make an ottoman without a frame. As a filler, scraps of foam rubber and fabrics, foam rubber granules and other fillers are used.

When there is a desire to bring something new to the interior or update the style, additional furniture attributes will help you. For example, anyone can make an ottoman with their own hands - both an experienced craftsman and a beginner in this field.

Several master classes on creating pouffes from improvised raw materials

  1. Pouffe from plastic bottles.

Everyone can make it, for this, take:

  • plastic bottles, 1.5-2 liters;
  • thick cardboard (packaging from under the equipment is suitable);
  • foam rubber;
  • upholstery fabric;
  • scissors;
  • thread, needle;
  • scotch;
  • glue.

When the ottoman is ready, the hole can be sewn up tightly or a zipper can be sewn in its place.

Note: The cap on each bottle must be tightly screwed on. Secure the container with each other with adhesive tape, place it on the first circle so that it completely occupies its space. Place the second circle on top, make sure that the elements are securely, evenly fixed.

In any case, the main thing is to patiently, slowly follow each step.

Next, start finishing the product - cut out two round and one rectangular parts from foam rubber, be sure to leave a margin for seam allowances. Connect them together with strong stitches. Instead of foam rubber, you can use a synthetic winterizer, insulation or a dense fabric folded in several layers.

Anyone can make an ottoman with their own hands - both an experienced craftsman and a beginner in this field.

Some of the available models will be made from plastic bottles or tires.

  1. Do-it-yourself ottoman from an old bucket.

To create it, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • jute rope;
  • construction glue gun;
  • cardboard;
  • upholstery fabric;
  • microfiber;
  • stapler;
  • large button.

Remove the handle from the bucket, put it upside down and wind the rope tightly in a circle. In order for it to hold well, each stitch must be planted on glue.

Instead of foam rubber, you can use a synthetic winterizer, insulation or a dense fabric folded in several layers.

When the entire bucket is wrapped with rope, proceed to the manufacture of the pouffe seat. From thick cardboard, make a circle corresponding to the diameter of the bucket. From the fabric, also prepare a circle, but 10 centimeters larger. Connect the fabric and cardboard with a button in the center. Shape the microfiber into a tube, wind it around the button between the fabric and cardboard, fixing it with a glue gun. Fill the cardboard base with tubes to the brim. The top fabric should be stapled to reverse side cardboard boxes. Now glue the part to the base and the work on the ottoman is completed.

First you need to cut out two equal round parts (or squares if you want to get a square ottoman) of a suitable size - this will be the top and bottom of the ottoman.

  1. A tire pouffe is a great idea for a summer house or a living room.

Prepare the following materials and tools:

  • old tire;
  • twine (at least 20 meters long);
  • self-tapping screws;
  • glue gun;
  • a sheet of plywood 3-5 millimeters thick;
  • jigsaw;
  • electric drill.

To begin with, you need to measure inner diameter tires until it thickens, divide this value in half and add one and a half centimeters to the result - you get the radius of the desired circle.

You can also add a strap, thanks to which it will be possible to easily move the product.

Draw it on a sheet of plywood, cut it out with a jigsaw. You should make two circles - on the seat and the bottom of the ottoman. Then drill holes in the tire and plywood, fasten the parts together with self-tapping screws.

Now you can glue the rope to the tire. To give the product an unusual pattern, start from the center of the seat, laying the twine with a snail.

The top fabric should be stapled to the back of the cardboard.

Use a clear, fast drying, high strength adhesive.

When the top of the pouf is completely pasted over, proceed to the sides of the tire. To make it easier to attach the twine, turn the product upside down. After the first circle, let the glue dry well to avoid the rope moving.

Make a case for an ottoman according to the above scheme.

Note: do not rush, apply a lot of glue, process the future pouf circle by circle. It is better if you work together - one will check that the rope lies without gaps, and the other will continue to stick. Working on such a pouffe on your own, you can easily allow the formation of gaps, it is possible to displace the twine from the surface of the tire.

When the glue dries well, cover the finished pouffe with clear varnish.

You can decorate the product with legs or wheels.

Attach buttons, rhinestones or a border to the seams as a decoration.

  1. How to make an ottoman quickly without patterns.

Prepare for work:

  • the cloth;
  • stuffing material;
  • scissors;
  • needle, thread;
  • measuring tape.

From the fabric, prepare two identical round elements, the parameters of which are equal to the top and bottom of the product. Set aside a few extra centimeters for the seams.

First you need to measure the inner diameter of the tire to its thickening.

Then cut out two equal rectangles - their width is the height of the ottoman, their length is half the circumference of the upper and lower zones.

Seams can be decorated with ribbons, border.

On the resulting rectangular elements, sew the seams from one edge so that they form a long ribbon.

Then you need to sweep the first circle to it, stitch along the seam. Then do the same with the next circle. Seams can be decorated with ribbons, border.

You should not rush, apply a lot of glue, process the future pouf circle by circle.

So, without wasting time on patterns, you can make a cover for a pouffe. The filler can be a variety of materials. Place the stuffing opening at the bottom of the product so that the stuffing opening is not conspicuous. When the ottoman is ready, the hole can be sewn up tightly or a zipper can be sewn in its place.

Following this description, you can build an ottoman cube.

Following this description, you can build an ottoman cube. The only difference is that all parts should be made square, and there are four of them in the side parts. In order for the product to keep its shape better, use dense fabrics, and choose synthetic winterizer or foam rubber as a filler.

Stages of work

Most importantly, do everything with pleasure. Only then you are guaranteed an excellent result and achievement of your goal. AT bad mood it is better not to start work, but to postpone it until better times.

But if you are serious and have already stocked up with everything you need, then let's start.

We make blanks

From the prepared chipboard sheet, it is necessary to cut 6 pieces measuring 400 by 400 mm for the bottom, top and side walls of the ottoman. We take a timber from a tree and cut it into 4 parts. From foam rubber we cut out the soft part of the ottoman measuring 400 by 400 mm.

Side walls

Assembling the frame

Chipboard sheets are fastened together with metal corners. To enhance rigidity and reliability in all internal corners need to glue four wooden beams. With front side we screw the structures into the bars with self-tapping screws, while the caps should be slightly drowned in chipboard sheets in order to avoid tearing the upholstery in the future.

Self-tapping screws

Bottom fixing

To soften the sharp corners of the box, which ultimately can contribute to the rapid wiping of the fabric, we wrap the outer walls of the ottoman with padding polyester, gluing it to them.

Along the perimeter of the lower part of the resulting frame, it is necessary to walk with glue and attach the bottom of the ottoman.

Glue treatment of the inner surface

Screw self-tapping screws into the ends of the bars. Let the glue dry a little, and then use the screws to attach the furniture rollers to the bottom.

seat manufacturing

In our case, the seat will act as a cover for the interior space of the ottoman. But at the same time, it should be soft and comfortable. To do this, take a piece of synthetic winterizer and glue it to one side of the chipboard blank. Glue a sheet of foam rubber on top and upholster with a cloth.

Cover cloth wrap

Usage upholstery fabric to hide staples

In order for our seat to be folding, it is necessary to attach two butt loops on both sides of its inner part. The same loops are attached to the inside of the two sides of the box.

Additional features

To improve the functionality of your pouf, you can add an additional box to its interior space. This will keep in order all the small items that you plan to store in the ottoman.

It is necessary to measure and cut out two strips from a chipboard sheet 16 mm thick, which, using self-tapping screws, are attached on two opposite sides inside the pouffe structure.

Limiter for inner box

Inner puff box made of plywood

Next, from plywood or chipboard sheets with a thickness of 12-16 mm, you need to cut blanks and assemble a box with internal partition. To make it easier to get the container, you can attach handles to it. Thus, you got two additional drawers that can be easily removed from the box to gain access to the rest of the things stored in the ottoman.

Here you can watch a video review self-manufacturing puff from chipboard. The option we have proposed is one of the simplest and most inexpensive, which even a novice home master can easily handle.

An ottoman on wheels is a pretty handy thing, especially if it has a lid, under which something else can be put away. After going shopping and even studying Avito, I realized that there was no suitable pouf anywhere. In stores, either there are no wheels, or the colors are not the same, but on Avito the price tags are almost higher than the store ones, and there are a lot of second-hand frank ones. Therefore, it naturally emerged that you need to do the pouf yourself. A fairly easy and quick creation process loomed in my head, but in reality it turned out not quite so, mainly due to inexperience. The creation process is described below.

First you need to decide on the size. In height, taking into account the volumetric cover and wheels, the ottoman should not be higher than a standard chair, or it may be lower (depending on what purpose). To understand what sizes are needed, the easiest way is to take a regular chair on which you are comfortable and measure it. Our pouffe turned out to be 42x42 cm and 55 cm in height. Such a height is inconvenient and should be 45-50 cm, but it just so happened, because I invented the production technology right during the process of creating the pouffe. To make your pouf lower, then parts 2 and 3 (see drawing) will not be 380, but 330 mm high.

We will make a pouffe from chipboard and upholster it with dermantine with foam rubber filler. Below is a drawing. On it, the numbers 6 and 7 indicate the holes for confirmation 7x50 at the end of the part and on the plane, respectively. Such designations are accepted in the chipboard sawing office in order to indicate them schematically on the drawings. True, they require a distance of a multiple of 32 mm between the holes, but you can put up with this. How to make holes yourself.

Assembly

Finally, the parts are made, we begin the assembly. Do not forget to set the correct moment on the screwdriver, otherwise it will drive the confirmation too deep (

Stuffing

We agreed that the pouffe would be filled with foam rubber (polyurethane foam). To do this, we need a sheet of foam rubber (usually sheets are 2x1 meter) with a density of EL3040 and a thickness of 20 mm. The walls of the pouffe will be stuffed in one layer, and the lid will be voluminous and filled with three layers glued together. It is advisable, of course, to use a solid one with a thickness of 40-60 mm, but in order to save ...

You can mark the foam rubber or cut it directly on the workpiece, placing something under the foam rubber so as not to cut the floor.

Having cut out the foam rubber for two opposite walls (calculated size 38x39.6), we glue them to the box using PVA or glue for ceiling plinths. Here it is best to apply glue and then poke around with foam rubber on the chipboard so that the glue spreads over the surface as best as possible and does not freeze with sausages.

Having glued two sides, cut out the other two (estimated size 42x39.6), so that the foam rubber covers not only the box, but also the ends of the foam rubber on perpendicular walls. It will be clearer if you look at the photo.

Cut out the foam for the lid. Everything is simple here - cut out 3 pieces exactly 38x38 or use the blank as a template and glue them one on top of the other to the lid. Then you need to cut out the sidewalls, which, taking into account the thickness of the chipboard (16 mm) and three layers of foam rubber 20 mm each, will turn out to be 38x7.6 cm. The other two sidewalls will turn out to be 42x7.6 cm.

cover upholstery

The upholstery will consist of three pieces: 1 for the cover 67x67 cm, and two 86x52 cm for the base.

Let's start with the lid. It is the opening of the lid that is shown on the left. I'll try to explain:
42 is the width of the pouffe, taking into account 2 cm of foam rubber on both sides;
7.5 cm are small flaps 1 cm wide for stitching and forming the volume of the lid

To simplify the bending of the corners, we cut off one of the sides at an angle and bend the second obliquely.

In general, for this case, I specifically bought a stapler I had long wanted and cheap staples for it No. 53 12 mm high. Either because of the cheapness (it seems 20-30 rubles), or because of the excessive height, but they had to be beaten with a hammer. They did not want to fit in completely, like those that were included in the kit by 8 mm. It was possible to pull it correctly with carnations, but it’s still more convenient with a stapler, even taking into account finishing with a hammer))

Well, the lid is ready. You should probably pull as hard as you can. In my case, after sitting, creases remain on this cover. But it is quite difficult to calculate the tension, it seems that you are pulling too hard all the time. This seems to come with experience.

base upholstery

Let's take care of the upholstery of the base. Dimensions 86x52 are made up of: 86 \u003d 2 sides of 42 cm each, plus 1 centimeter for two seams and 52 \u003d 39.5 (box height, taking into account the bottom thickness) + 2 (foam rubber on top) + 1.5 (chipboard thickness) + 3.5 (for hem) + 2 (foam rubber thickness from below) + 3.5 (for hem). Probably, I didn’t explain it clearly, but that’s how these dimensions were set))

We sew two pieces along the short side on both sides and put the resulting cylinder through the top onto the base, bending it inward from above and below. Please note that on top the upholstery is bent directly onto the ends of the chipboard on three sides, except for one, where the hinges are attached. That's exactly (like where the loops are) I wanted to do initially, but then I decided to simplify the process, because. staples enter the end of the chipboard much easier. Thus, the hem turned out to be quite large that it had to be bent inward. I advise you to calculate in advance how you will do this so that you do not waste extra material.

loops

I took the usual loops, although you can use special lifts. It is easier to fasten first to the lid, then to the base, but it is more difficult to attach them in the right place on the lid, so that later the holes on the hinges fall into the plane of the base. I first fixed it on the base, but I had to suffer so that after attaching the hinges to the lid, it would stand evenly in the closed position.

wheels

I bought the simplest wheels for 13 rubles with a mounting platform. I attached the first wheel by placing the platform parallel to the sides of the pouffe, but I decided to place the rest at 45 degrees. I found it more reliable

Well, this is how he turned out. It was also possible to make a limiter for opening and a handle from a piece of upholstery, but this threatened with additional tangible costs for a seamstress and I decided that we would do it ourselves over time))

Price

One of the reasons for the appearance of a do-it-yourself pouffe was the price. I must say that the savings turned out to be scanty. But I just like doing things myself, it's my hobby, if you like. So:
820 - chipboard with an additive;
315 - foam rubber 2x1;
660 - leatherette 138x120 cm;
300 - seamstress services;
45 - loops;
52 - wheels;
38 - euro screws;
2230 - Total.
However, here it was possible to save money firstly on chipboard, because. I used laminated, but it was possible to cut out from any. Secondly, if you have a typewriter, then another 300 rubles of savings. I also took Dermantin good quality 550 per linear meter, there was an option to take 450 and even 350

P.S. I got a lot of useful information from
