Not so long ago, upholstery work was performed exclusively using a hammer and nails. This mainly concerned the production of furniture. But recently it has been developed special device, which helps to fasten in a more convenient way - this is a construction stapler.

If the chair is upholstered or turn the sofa over, you can see that the upholstery is attached to special tightening elements, that is, brackets. Both hammer and nails are a thing of the past, upholstery can now be built without injuring fingers and much faster than before. The design is more convenient for work, but it can also fail, like any tool. Then the owner of the stapler faces the question of repairing the device.

How to start repairing a stapler

Before you start repairing a construction stapler, you should familiarize yourself with its design, the principle of operation. This will help you perform the necessary actions better and bring the stapler to working condition faster. In addition to staplers for fixing upholstery on furniture, there are other devices for a similar purpose.

Basically, you can find these types of staplers:

The manual stapler is easy to use and does not require careful maintenance - you only need to periodically lubricate it.

  1. Manual - this group includes mechanical devices with a manual drive. They, in turn, are divided into several varieties, which must be chosen depending on what the work task is.
  2. Staple hammers are staplers that hammer the staple with a strong blow. This model has a higher speed than manual counterparts, but the driving accuracy is not very high. Most often, hammers for driving staples are used in cases where roofing material is to be fixed or insulation is to be fixed during repairs. Here, special attention is paid not to the accuracy of the work, but to its speed.
  3. Cable staplers are designed for the installation of cables that must withstand a load of 50 V. The diameter of the cable to be worked with must not exceed 7.5 mm. When choosing a stapler to perform such a task, it is necessary to take into account the diameter of the wire with which to work. Such a device is most often used in cases where there is a large amount of work to be done and it is necessary to fix the cable in place or lay the electrical network. It can also be used during the installation or repair of communications.
  4. The usual stapler model, that is, the classic one, is equipped with a manual drive pressed against the surface of the tool. Staples are hammered into the material by pressing the trigger lever.
  5. Combined model - this device combines the ability to perform operations that are usually performed using different models staplers equipped with a manual type drive.

In addition to the models described, there are other varieties of such a tool. Staplers can be professional and household. Professional are distinguished by such characteristics as ergonomics, extensive resources, and the absence of parts made of plastic. But there are also disadvantages - such a wonderful device costs a lot.

For regular repair work it is better to purchase an electric stapler - its performance is much higher than that of a manual stapler.

Electric staplers - this variety is widespread for domestic needs, performing minor repairs. It is easy to work with it - just connect the electricity. But at a price such a device will cost a little more than a manual counterpart. If, for example, you just need to change the upholstery on furniture, it is not economically feasible to purchase such a stapler. It is much easier to do everything with a manual stapler - this will not require a significant application of forces, but the savings are obvious. If we are talking about using such a device regularly and often, it is better to purchase an electric version.

There are also professional pneumatic models. Staples are hammered using pneumatic impacts. They should not be used for domestic needs. Apply this method in production conditions, but if necessary, it is possible to install your own compressor. It is better to purchase a small compact model, which has approximately the dimensions of a not very large suitcase. To perform work, you will need to organize a connection to the mains. Such devices have a rather high price, therefore, this device is mainly used only by specialists involved in furniture repair on professional level. You can also find such a device from private manufacturers.

Stapler materials

Consumables for a stapler - staples. When talking about their size, most often they mean thickness. But the width is also different. The most commonly used sizes are 0.75mm (thickness) and 11.4mm (width). But there are many more varieties that have other sizes. It is necessary to choose consumables depending on what the work task is. In order to create a good load, in the event of a repair, for example, you should choose longer staples. To fix a material that is not particularly dense, such as polyethylene film, use staples with a good thickness. The choice of brackets when installing the cable is determined depending on what its diameter is.

The pneumatic stapler has a high price and is mainly used in furniture factories.

When working with a branded device, it is necessary to purchase consumables for it of the same brand. They are somewhat different from conventional ones with a similar size, have good working qualities, are made of stainless alloy and are not subject to corrosion. Their surface is galvanized.

They are well sharpened and correspond to all the necessary drawing data, they also have a warranty period. The presence of a guarantee confirms good quality and originality of the material.

Using a stapler is convenient and pleasant. Staples are installed in a special store, the device is pressed to the right place and the lever is pressed. Now the bracket is fixed. But sometimes trouble happens - the stapler breaks. The bracket does not fly out because of the charger, in the place where they tried to install it, only a dent from the drummer remains. This means that the stapler needs to be inspected, most often followed by repair. To carry out repairs, disassemble the device in a certain sequence:

  • remove the adjusting screw;
  • remove the spring;
  • remove the protective cover;
  • remove pins and lock washers.

To bring the stapler into working condition, you will need the following tools:

  • screwdriver;
  • pliers;
  • hammer;
  • file;
  • vise.

When all unnecessary is removed, you can see what happened to the drummer. Most often, the cause of the breakdown is the fact that the striker body has developed a thrust element. With its help, the interaction of the impact mechanism and the trigger lever is ensured.

The drummer is the main working part of this device. A special spring exerts powerful pressure on it, if necessary, its force can be adjusted using a special screw.

An element called a charging carabiner is fixed in relation to the percussion device at an angle of 90 degrees. It contains brackets, which are subject to the action of the spring. In the non-working state, the brackets are closed by a plate fixed to the body.

The correct operation of the loader, coupled with the percussion element, depends on the serviceability of the trigger system. It consists of the following parts:

  • lever cocking mechanism;
  • strong spring;
  • detail called "rocker".

In order to drive in the bracket, it is necessary to press the lever with force. The drummer will rise under the action of the rocker arm. The bracket goes into the mechanism of the striker, and the compression of the spring stops. The drummer hits the bracket with force, it goes into the base.

Considering carefully the workflow of a construction stapler, we can conclude that the main criterion for its good work will be several interacting operations: this is the cocking of the impactor and the unhindered exit of the staples.

The drummer must work with the rocker arm in synchronism mode. If this is not the case, the person working with the stapler will press the lever in vain. There is something akin to a blank shot. The trigger is cocked, then it fires, but the drummer does not grab the bracket. This is how the device works when the thrust element wears out at the protrusion of the striker.

Repairing the device is not particularly difficult and does not take much time. The drummer is clamped in a vise. Then, using a simple file, the protrusion is sharpened, it is given its original shape. Such actions help to significantly increase the operating time of the tool. Regular implementation of this operation will be required - it must be performed immediately, as soon as the gun starts to work out of place. It should be borne in mind that, since the striker plate will need to be constantly slightly undermined, it is gradually shortened.

Not sure how to properly refill a large stationery or mini stapler? Read the article, which describes this process in detail.

A stationery stapler is a stapler for paper and files. You can't do without it either at home or in the office.

  • To use it, you need staples, without which the stapler will not work.
  • Staples are divided into sizes: No. 10, 26/8, 26/6, 24/8, 24/6. Their numbers are indicated on the packaging.
  • On the packaging of the stapler itself, the numbers of the staples that fit it are indicated.
  • It seems that everything is simple - insert brackets right size into the stapler and you can start using.
  • But many people have problems in order to charge this device. How to do it right, read the article below.

So, you bought staples and want to charge your stapler. How to open and fill a large stationery stapler with staples? Description in the form of instructions:

  • Peel back the stapler's plastic cover that is held on by a spring. Opening the roof pulls the spring along with it. The freed space is the groove for the staples. Many large staplers have latches that need to be pushed back.
  • Take the braces- one section. Insert them into the groove, the ends should look down.
  • Close the stapler cover.
  • Click once with no paper. If a paperclip with bent darts falls out, then the stapler is working.

Advice: If the dropped staple is bent incorrectly or it does not fall out at all, then repeat the procedure or buy another stapler, it may be a malfunction.

You can watch the video to learn how to properly thread the stapler. A visual demonstration will help you cope with this process quickly and without problems. In addition, the video tells how to fix the stapler.

Mini staplers are easier to refill than larger similar devices. Lift the plastic cover up and back. Now you can insert the staples into the groove. After finishing the filling process, close the stapler and use.

Advice: Mini staplers have a very small compartment for staples. Therefore, if you want to get old staples or insert new ones, then you will need tweezers.

Often the mini stapler can jam during filling. To fix this, open the cover and adjust the staples in the groove. If this is not done, then the stapler may become unusable. Watch the video on how to properly fill the mini stapler.

Furniture stapler has successfully replaced the usual hammer and nails in many areas of activity. Its use allows you to connect materials of the same or different hardness to each other, for example, wood, plywood, plastic, polyethylene film, the cloth. With regular use, the tool may start to work poorly or even break down, but many breakdowns are easy to fix with your own hands. To do this, you need to familiarize yourself with the design of the staple gun, its frequent malfunctions with ways to eliminate them, and also stock up on plumbing tools. Only in quite rare cases, repairs will require the involvement of service center specialists.

According to the type of energy with which fasteners are hammered into the surface of the material, staple guns are divided into the following types:

  • mechanical;
  • pneumatic;
  • electrical.

In everyday life, mechanical and electrical models of tackers are mainly exploited. The pneumatic tool belongs to the professional category.

Mechanical Models

Any furniture stapler has in its design store for fasteners, inside which there is a clip with guides. Consumables are inserted into it when performing work operations.

Shops of some models have a transparent insert. This is convenient during operation, because it allows you to control the remaining amount of fasteners.

Staple gun device mechanical type shown in detail in the photo below.

Shock-return mechanism(Striker) is a plate. Its size matches geometric parameters used consumables. The striker is attached to the striker - its shape is determined by the design of the taker. In this case, the drummer on the other side comes into contact with the spring, the compression of which is regulated by a screw. Shock absorption is provided by a polyurethane shock absorber, which is located inside the case.

Manual staplers can be equipped with two types of springs:

  • twisted (shown in the photo above), installed on inexpensive models;
  • lamellar (spring type, photo below), more powerful and expensive compared to the first.

Mechanical staple gun lever operated(handle). He cocks the shock-return mechanism. During transport or storage, a safety clip protects against accidental operation.

Electric and pneumatic models

The device of an electric tacker connected to a 220 V network is shown in the photo below.

The following design elements are indicated by numbers:

  • trigger trigger;
  • fuse;
  • handle for holding the tool;
  • power cable;
  • on / off button;
  • mechanism for regulating the force of the shot;
  • magazine pusher;
  • store lock.

Inside the body of the tool are also:

  • an electric motor that cocks a spring;
  • electric motor operation control board;
  • impact mechanism.

Battery products do not have a power cord. The power tool is powered by batteries.

Individual structural elements of pneumatic staple guns are shown in the photo below.

Inside the pneumatic tool is cylinder with piston, as well as the air distribution unit. Compressed air for the operation of a construction stapler is supplied through a hose that can withstand high pressure from a compressor unit or a cylinder. Therefore, if there are problems with the operation of a pneumatic tacker, you must first check the serviceability of the compressor with the air line.

Common malfunctions of the construction stapler and their causes

A construction stapler of any kind can start to work poorly. At the same time, common malfunctions for the considered types of staple guns are the same. Only the reasons why a breakdown occurred can be very different - this is due to design differences different types takers. Consider what to do in each case.

The tool does not work - staples do not fly out

So, if an electric or mechanical staple gun does not shoot staples or nails, then the reasons may be the following:

  • the spring is broken;
  • drummer problems.

For mechanical devices, the cocking lever hook mechanism with the spring may also wear out.

At power tools there are some more possible reasons because of which the fasteners do not shoot:

  • the tool is not connected to the 220 V network;
  • cord with a defect (its integrity is broken);
  • the electric motor burned out;
  • the board that controls the operation of the electric motor is out of order.

Board electric stapler Novus J-165-EAD

Pneumotool the consumable does not shoot in such cases:

  • the compressor is broken or not connected to the mains;
  • broken hose;
  • the compressed air in the cylinder has run out;
  • problems with the cylinder, piston or air distribution system.

Fastener stuck

Consumables in all models get stuck for common reasons:

  • when it does not correspond in size to the exploited tacker;
  • fasteners or magazine are dirty from the inside;
  • used consumable with defects, for example, bent.

Staples are not fully clogged or, conversely, too deep

Any staple gun will not drive staples, nails, or pins completely unless Depth adjuster set incorrectly. In such cases, it is enough to properly adjust it. With manual and electric devices, the problem is also often associated with spring wear, and with pneumatic devices, with a clamping mechanism or insufficient operating pressure.

If the fasteners are driven in too deep, the cause may be pinched spring or high compressed air pressure.

Important! Compressed air pressure when using pneumatic tools can be increased no more than to the value specified in the operating instructions.

During the shot, 2 staples fly out

When a stapler knocks out two staples during a shot, the simplest cause of the problem is the use of dirty consumables or staples that do not match in size. For pneumatic staple guns, the problem may be due to a violation of the compressed air supply. For electrical and mechanical models, the problem is also often caused by wear of the striker or deformation of the striker (or its guides).

It also happens that the equipment bends the staples. This is also due to their poor quality or the inconsistency of the consumable in terms of strength with the material of the elements being connected.

Algorithm for disassembling the stapler and troubleshooting

To fix a broken stapler for mechanical type furniture yourself, you will need the following tools:

  • screwdrivers;
  • vise;
  • needle file or small file for metal;
  • hammer;
  • pliers.

In some cases, you may also need hand saw for metal or grinder, when repairing power tools - a multimeter and a soldering iron with a soldering kit.

To check the freedom of movement of consumables inside the magazine, simply open it or pull out the pusher.

Spring replacement or repair of worn impact mechanism perform in the following order:

  • take out the remaining consumable from the store;
  • unscrew the screw that regulates the force of impact;

  • take out the spring;

  • disassemble the body of the tool, for this they remove the washers and pull out the pins;

  • take out the percussion mechanism;

  • if the malfunction is related to the spring, then replace it;
  • when the drummer is worn out (there is a wear in the striker or in the place of contact with the rocker arm of the starting lever), it is clamped in a vice and the parts are given their original shape with a file or needle file;

  • the tool is assembled in the reverse order, while lubricating the percussion mechanism.

The spring stop may also be broken on the impact mechanism (photo below), and because of this, the staple gun does not work well. In this case, to fix the problem, you will need weld stop using welding.

Repair activities do not take much time and often do not require financial costs, but prolong the life of the staple gun.

How to disassemble and repair a pneumatic staple gun is shown in the video below.

Disassembly and preventive Maintenance electric model the staple gun is shown in the video below.

To maximize the service life, it is necessary to store the construction stapler under the following conditions:

  • the value of relative air humidity not exceeding 70%;
  • the temperature must be above +5 degrees Celsius;
  • the air of the storage place should not contain alkali or acid vapors, as well as dust-abrasive inclusions.

In order to repair the stapler, in many cases, you only need to correctly adjust the depth of the shots, setting it up for a specific material, and also use high-quality, suitable fasteners. When a staple gun does not work at all, more extensive repairs will need to be made, often accompanied by the replacement of broken or worn components. When performing repair operations, be sure to remember about personal safety: remove consumables, put the device on the fuse and de-energize electric and pneumatic models.

- with foot pedal

When choosing a stapler, you should consider the type and nature of the work.

stapler device

The main elements that ensure the operation of any stapler are a magazine and a shock-return device. The store has a holder with U-shaped guides, into which a cassette is inserted with consumable(staples, nails), The store is equipped with a mechanism for supplying consumables and is made in the form of a spring-loaded pusher, on the one hand, having a thrust plate, on the other - a latch for fixing in the store. The shock-return device is a striker made in the form of a plate with dimensions corresponding to the dimensions of the used staples or pin, the diameter and length of which correspond to the length and diameter of the nail head. The striker is fixed on a striker, which has a shape depending on the design of the stapler and, on the other hand, abuts against a spring, the force of which is regulated by a screw. To eliminate shock loads, the device is provided with a buffer (shock absorber), which is made in the form of a polyurethane gasket installed in the device case.

The device is controlled:

- in a mechanical stapler - with a lever hinged on the body of the stapler and on the other hand, having a movable rocker included in the groove of the drummer;

- v electric stapler- the function of the drummer is performed by the solenoid of the electromagnet. When the button is pressed, the contacts are closed. The current passes through the elements of the control unit, made in the form of a circuit board, to the electromagnet coil, as a result of which the device is triggered;

- in a pneumatic stapler - the function of the drummer is performed by the piston of the pneumatic cylinder. When the trigger is pressed, acting on the pneumatic distributor, compressed air enters the cavity of the pneumatic cylinder, resulting in a percussive action.

Types of malfunctions and repair

Lack of fastening element (bracket/nail) in fastened materials. Most often occurs when consumables leave the store. The stapler should be rendered inoperable. The consumable cassette is removed from the magazine. If possible, the pusher is removed. Clip reclines in side, as it is hinged. The jammed detail (bracket / nail) is removed with tweezers, a narrow flat screwdriver. Next, the stapler is prepared for further work in reverse order.

Slaughter of fastened materials with two or more elements (staple / nail). This can happen due to two reasons. The first - due to wear (bevel) in any direction of the end surface of the striker. Remove the casing of the percussion device. Disconnect and remove the firing pin. Bring the end surface of the striker to the correct shape with a small file or sandpaper. The main condition is that the end surface should not have a convex appearance. Otherwise, the edges of the staples will protrude during slaughter. In order to maintain the action distance of the striker, at the buffer / shock absorber (polyurethane gasket) grind off the supporting surface adjacent to the body of the percussion device to a size corresponding to the size of the striker being machined.

The second is the deformation of the guide surface of the body of the percussion device. For mechanical staplers, this is the deformation of the surface of the casing adjacent to the striker.

Removed with a hammer or pliers.

The work of the drummer "idle".

In mechanical staplers, it occurs as a result of early dismounting of the rocker from the bearing surface of the drummer groove. In this case, a bevel is produced in this place, which is removed strictly perpendicular to the surface of the striker with a file.

For other staplers, if the case is overheated, this indicates an unsatisfactory condition of the rubbing surfaces or a breakdown of individual elements (for example, springs). Bringing the stapler into working condition is possible when replacing faulty elements.

When you press the lever / button, the complete absence of the impact device.

For mechanical staplers, there are violations of the interaction between the drummer and the return spring (for example, breaking the base plate under the spring). In this case, instead of one upper rivet for fastening the striker to the striker, you can put a screw with two nuts and shorten the spring by the size from the screw to the base plate. For other staplers, there is no power supply to the electromagnet coil or compressed air into the cavity of the pneumatic cylinder.

Should be remembered . all repairs and maintenance to be carried out during a power outage

tool and bringing it to a non-working state.

Electronic scales Today they are used both for measuring body weight and for preparing a variety of dishes. kitchen scales are especially convenient for exact and captious housewives. But even the smartest electronics tend to break down.

  • - Replaceable batteries
  • - Paper towels
  • - a can of canned food

Try changing the batteries in your kitchen scale. Perhaps the cause of the malfunction is precisely that the charge in the previous batteries has run out.

Wipe scales paper towels. To do this, they can even be disassembled. True, you should not do this if you are not sure that you can return it later. scales v original state. It is possible that during operation, particles of food got into the mechanism of the kitchen scale and because of this a failure occurred. Incidentally, it should be noted that some scales may not show the exact weight if the dimensions of the product to be weighed are larger than the scales themselves.

Turn on the scale calibration button. Hold it down for at least 30 seconds until the word “CAL” appears on the scale display. The display will then show information about the weight to be placed on the scales for calibration. As a weight standard, you can use a can of canned food, or another container on which the weight is accurately indicated. After 3-5 seconds, the word "PASS" will appear on the display. Delete the received weight value and turn off scales- Calibration completed. If the calibration was not successful, you will see the inscription "FAIL".

If the scales break down immediately after purchase, then under the Consumer Protection Law, you have the right to exchange the defective product for a similar one, or return the money.

Be prepared to take your scale to a service center. Professionals will quickly and efficiently fix the damage.

Steeringmechanism(PM) of the car performs an important function - it provides movement in a given direction. This becomes possible when the driver, through the steering drive and the steering wheel located in the passenger compartment, transfers force to the RM. Due to the complex articulation, the mechanism often fails.

  • - set of tools;
  • - lubricant;
  • — spare bolts for hinges;
  • - RM details.

There are two types of steering mechanisms - worm and rack and pinion. The worm gear consists of a steering wheel. steering wheel shaft, worm gear pair (worm, roller), worm gear housing and steering arm. Rack is somewhat simpler. It has only two tie rods, which are designed to transfer the driver's effort to the swing arms.

To improve the efficiency of steering (RU), almost every car is equipped with a hydraulic booster. Unfortunately, in the RM of a car, as in any other, malfunctions can occur, which can be determined by characteristics. So, if a whistling noise occurs, its causes should be sought in the weakening of the connecting joints of the switchgear or in improper contact of the power steering hoses with other parts. To eliminate this malfunction, tighten the connecting hinges and correctly position the power steering hoses in the clamps.

Look for the causes of rattling noise in the RM in the weak contact of the hydraulic booster tubes with the body, lack of lubrication, loosened fastening of the mechanism or tie rod ends installed in violation. To solve these problems, fix the power steering tubes, lubricate the steering gear, tighten the bracket mounting bolts and tie rod joints, and if necessary, replace the tips.

There may be a situation where in order to return the wheels to the straight-line position, you have to apply too much effort to turn the steering wheel. Here, most likely, the connection of the steering wheel with the fastening of the turn switch is loosened or the switchgear connections are loose. This could also be caused by a stuck flow control valve, a loose tie rod/ball joint connection, or a misaligned PM. Depending on the cause of the failure. you may need to replace the intermediate shaft or power steering pump, tighten the tie rods and ball joints, and if necessary completely replace them. After completing the repair, be sure to check the neutral position.

Remember, proper operation is the key to long-term operation. Therefore, do not overload the stapler with staples and use only those that match this stapler model.

Most of the problems associated with the operation of the stapler arise as a result of careless handling of it. For example, sharp blows to the body, its frequent fall to the floor. In most cases, the stapler can be repaired right at the workplace, without resorting to the help of a master. And only in rare cases it is better to immediately replace it with a new one.

Probably, each of us in childhood was very interested in the internal structure of toys, especially mechanical ones. Adults often behave no better. They look everywhere: a car breaks down - we open the hood, although we know in advance that we cannot do without a car service; the computer went haywire - using the folk poke method, we are trying to return the capricious piece of iron to life. Curiosity is inherent in man, and therefore let's try to figure out together how far from complex devices are arranged - stationery staplers. At the same time, we will try to draw conclusions which of them can be called high-quality, and which should take their rightful place on your desktop.

Actually, nothing prevents you from looking inside your faithful assistant especially since you don't need any tools to do it. Stapler manufacturers do not seek to reinvent the wheel and are limited to two standard designs internal mechanism. Most of the internal space of the stapler is occupied by a “clip” of staples, which, as it is spent, moves towards the nose of the device under the influence of a spring or a metal plate.

Plate staplers are more durable and work more stable. Such a mechanism ensures smooth movement of the staples along the guides towards the “anvil”, which means that the quality of the filing will be consistently high. "Anvil" good staplers necessarily rotates, which allows you to use the device in two modes: standard and temporary bonding. In the first case, the legs of the paper clip are wrapped inwards - towards each other, and in the second, vice versa - outwards.

The quality of the staple that will be loaded into the breech of the stapler may well affect the operation of the entire device. Most manufacturers prudently orient their staplers to staples. standard sizes, which saves the end user from unnecessary searches for a suitable product. However, in expensive staplers from famous manufacturers, non-standard staples can also be used, which are designed to protect devices from the use of unnamed consumables in them.

The smallest brackets No. 21 have a size of 0.7 mm, and they differ little in appearance from the same ones, but at number 10. An attempt to replace bracket No. 21 with a ten will most likely end in failure: the difference is even 0.2 mm, although hardly noticeable to the eye, but in practice it can cause the stapler to jam. Staple No. 21 has an excellent quality - it is almost invisible on paper. If we talk about the quality of such a bracket, then it largely depends on the material from which the bracket is made. The wire used to make the staples must have smooth surface and uniform thickness.

The choice in favor of colored brackets is not without meaning. Such hardware will be easy to notice on the desktop, a special coating should be regarded as protection against corrosion, especially if documents with significant shelf life will be stapled with such clips. Metal brackets with galvanization or copper plated should have sharp ends, which ensures easy piercing even thick sheets paper. Sharpening can be done both with external and with inside. The brackets are fastened into clip-strips with a special adhesive, which is usually applied only on one side with a thin, inconspicuous layer.

Now about the body of the stapler. High-quality, durable, reliable products have a metal case. It's practical and stylish. Plastic also has its advantages: it is light and warm. Most stapler manufacturers like to combine metal, plastic, and rubber. We have already talked about the substrate - it protects the table from scratches, and the rubber inserts in the stapler body allow the user to securely hold this wonderful device in their hand. Products entirely made of stainless steel are rare, but they can be a very organic addition to the interior of a stylish clerk's desktop.

Modern staplers can not only have a frilly stylish appearance, but sometimes look a little frivolous or pretty. In the assortment of some manufacturers there are staplers with bodies in the form of animals, most of the products are combined into series with common stylistic and design features. These can be product lines aimed at schoolchildren, students, office workers, heads of firms and companies.

Staplers can be included in stationery sets in which all products are made in the same style. When studying the packaging of the stapler, you should pay attention to the depth of the firmware and the punching power. The depth of the firmware should be understood as the distance from the edge of the paper to the place where the paper clip will be located. Pocket staplers have a firmware depth of up to 40 mm, for a desktop copy this parameter is much higher.

Few people know that sticky notes owe their existence to a failed experiment. At the end of the 60s. in the 3M laboratory, where they worked to improve the quality of adhesive tape, they obtained a dense adhesive consistency that was not absorbed by the glued surfaces and turned out to be unnecessary. This kind of glue was remembered a few years later, when a laboratory employee needed to fix a lot of lost bookmarks in a church songbook without damaging the pages. And in 1980, Post-it Notes were first released for sale.

For the first time the world saw a stapler in the 18th century. The first of them was created by order of Louis XV. The device had a different form than the modern mechanism. Moreover, on the French brackets made by the hands of the masters, a coat of arms was placed. Only the United States was able to start mass production of staplers.

Species.

Pocket staplers. This is the simplest stationery with paper binding function. Its size is the size of a palm. The main part of the device is plastic. Productivity - a small number of A4 sheets. This mechanism is characterized by low price, ease of operation and storage, convenient transportation. You can buy such staplers in the online stationery store in Ukraine.

Desktop view. To fasten paper with such a mechanism, you need a table or any other surface that would be flat. Such a stapler is equipped with an anti-slip coating, which is why any movement from side to side is excluded. The mechanism includes a lever that must be pressed to fasten the sheets. Features of the type: adjustable binding depth, high power and performance (you can fasten up to 300 sheets!).

What types of paper binding exist?

Staplers are divided into types depending on the method of stapling paper sheets. The most common is the office type of fastening, known to employees of offices and organizations. This type is called closed. The main difference is that the staples are bent inward, as it were, making stitching better and more reliable. No wonder closed stitching is so common all over the world. Another type, as you might guess, is open, that is, with an external bend of the staples. This method is rarely used and mainly when temporary bonding is required. Sheets can be divided if necessary. The mount leaves almost no traces.

There is another method of fastening, which is called rare. It lies in the fact that the papers are stapled with staples that have a straight shape. Such a stapler is used for attaching ads to hard surfaces.

What do you need to know before purchasing?

Having decided to purchase a stapler, you need to clearly understand for what purposes it will be used: to fasten papers or to attach ads to country boards. For frequent office use, it is best to choose a high-quality desktop stapler, whose parts are made of metal. But plastic stationery is suitable for rare use - 1-2 times a day. It is also necessary to take into account the power of the devices. If the power of the stapler is low, then it is unlikely to be able to fasten 200 sheets at once - such a product can only handle 5-6 sheets.

It is equally important to pay attention to the manufacturer, including staples - they can wrinkle, break, and even get stuck, deforming the paper. Another important point concerns the additional functionality of the stationery. It is desirable that the purchase has rubberized legs that look like pieces of material. These feet help protect the surface on which the device stands from scratches and cracks. Arriving at the store, you should pay attention to the presence of a destapler, whose function is to unbend the staples if they stand up incorrectly.

How does a stapler work?

The main part of the device is called the chute. As a rule, it is made of metal - staples are inserted there that hold the paper together. Inside the chute is a plate that moves the staples. When you need to put the staples, the stapler opens. For the device to function foldably, you will need one plate of new staples - you can buy them at an office supply store. Modern models equipped with a front hole for mounting brackets. To open it, just press the button. If the buyer works with papers all the time, then it is best for him to pay attention to professional models stapler. Such mechanisms are suitable for loading several plates at once. In this case, you can control how deeply the sheets are attached.

The points described above will come in handy when choosing a stationery stapler and help you understand its device.

The first staplers appeared in France in the 18th century, they were specially invented for King Louis XV. But at that time this device was unique - each staple for it was made by hand, it had a coat of arms. It was only at the beginning of the 20th century in the States that the stapler was made accessible to most people.

Types of staplers

In stores specializing in the sale of stationery, you can find various devices for binding papers. There are so-called pocket options. This category includes any stationery stapler that can be safely placed in the palm of your hand. The body of such devices is usually made of plastic. They can stitch a small number of sheets at the same time. Their main advantage is low price. But it is worth remembering that they are not suitable for intensive work. With active use, they will very soon have to look for a replacement.

In offices, desktop staplers are most often bought. It is undesirable for them to fasten papers on weight. The devices are designed to operate on a hard, level surface. At the bottom, they usually have a special anti-slip coating that prevents them from moving around the table even under load.

A large stationery stapler differs even in its own way appearance. It is equipped with a special lever, which must be pressed in order to fasten sheets of paper. The most powerful models are capable of fastening up to 260 sheets at the same time. Often they are equipped with special tools designed to remove bent staples. Some devices have a special fixing bar. It is designed to adjust the bonding depth.

Stitching types

Not everyone knows that stationery staplers differ depending on how they fasten the sheets. Most office workers are familiar with the usual options closed type stitching. Such a stationery stapler bends the edges of the staples inward. This is considered the most reliable way to bind paper. It is also the most common.

There is also open type. In this case, the staples are bent outward. This method is preferable to use in cases where only temporary stitching of sheets is necessary. The papers fastened in this way are easy to separate, while the traces are practically invisible.

Sometimes offices use a special stationery stapler with straight staples. It is necessary in situations where it is necessary to attach paper (some kind of announcement or document) to a special board with a soft surface. It can be made, for example, from cork.

Important nuances

When purchasing a device for connecting papers, it is important to consider how actively you will use it. If you plan to use it often, then pay attention to the metal options. They are considered more reliable and will last longer. In other cases, ordinary plastic devices will do. The principle of their work is absolutely the same.

It is also important to consider that staplers vary in power. This indicator determines how many sheets your device can fasten at a time. By the way, it is also important to choose the right staples for a stationery stapler. It is desirable to know not only their size, but also the manufacturer. It should be noted that thicker brackets are required for more powerful devices. Otherwise, they will bend and break when trying to flash a stack of papers with them.

In addition, you need to know that there are devices that work only when you focus on a table or other flat surface. If with such a stapler you try to fasten the papers on weight, then the staples will fall out or deform.

Additional options

It seems to many that a stationery stapler is a fairly simple device that cannot be improved in any way. But manufacturers make it more convenient to use. So, when buying, pay attention to the fact that there is a plastic footboard or rubberized inserts at the bottom. They will protect your table from scratches.

Another important and convenient addition is the presence of a built-in destapler. This special device, with which you can quickly straighten the staples. It is useful in those situations when you need to separate previously fastened sheets. Opening the staples with scissors, and even more so with nails, is inconvenient, and it looks unsightly.

Principle of operation

If you are serious about choosing a paper binding tool, then you will be interested in the device of a stationery stapler. Staples are inserted into a special metal chute. They move forward with the help of a spring or a special plate.

It is worth noting that the second option is considered more practical. This is due to the fact that the springs tend to stretch over time, they can slip off the hooks on which they are attached. The plate is able to provide smoother operation of the moving tongue. It contributes to the fact that the clip of the staples is always fixed at the edge. The push tab can be made of metal or plastic. In the first case, it will be more reliable.

Loading the stapler

Staples are inserted into the internal mechanism, which, when the device is sharply pressed, shoot and fasten the sheets. When the clip ends, it simply needs to be replaced with a new one.

If you have a full-load stapler, then you need to insert 1 new staple clip plate into it. But there are other options - they put ½ of the clip. The usual pocket and office options are easy to deal with. To change the plate of staples, you do not need to look for what the clerical stapler looks like. Simply lift the top cover and insert the clip into the chute.

There are special models with front loading. They have a button on the body, by pressing which you release the spring of the mechanism. The chute moves forward.

A little harder to deal with professional devices. In some of them, even 7 types of staples can be loaded. At the same time, users have the opportunity to adjust the depth of attachment.

Device repair

If you had an ordinary pocket or small desktop stapler, then if it breaks, it is best to buy a new one. But there are some problems that everyone can fix on their own.

First of all, it is necessary to remove the body and remove the clip from the gutter. So you can see that the staples are stuck at the exit of it, which interfere with its normal functioning. This is usually the main cause of failure.

In order for the stapler to start working normally, it is necessary to remove all stuck staples. This can be done with tweezers or a thin screwdriver. The main thing in this case is not to damage the chute itself, the spring and the pusher. After that, you can remember how to assemble a stationery stapler. It is necessary to insert the spring into place, if you removed it, install the case and press the upper part to the lower one so that they lock into place.
