If you plan to use the unit in everyday life, it is better to choose an entry-level pneumatic model. Such equipment allows targeted activities with small hardware. If you plan to work with textiles, such tool but it will be sufficient.

Plywood requires a pneumatic nailer.

How to choose staples for a furniture stapler

For right choice refer to the instructions that come with tool y. It is worth considering certain parameters in order to choose the appropriate option. The following parameters are important.

Types of staples of a construction stapler.

Attention! Some sellers may advise you to replace one type of staple with a similar one. These recommendations should not be followed. The depth of the models may be the same. However, the geometry, which is difficult to see with the normal eye, may differ. Ultimately, this will cause a breakdown.

Charging the mechanical stapler

With mechanical stapler it's pretty easy to work. You need to know how the charging process goes. It includes several steps.

  • The unit must be on fuse.
  • On the back of the equipment, the sash should be folded down. Behind it is a groove for staples.
  • From this area, you need to pull the rod with the spring.
  • Staple block should be turned back to the handle and inserted into the groove.
  • Return the rod to its original position. It is necessary to carry out the clamp staples inside the tool.
  • The sash must be slammed until you hear a characteristic click.

The charging process is completed, you can use the equipment.

Charging the pneumatic furniture stapler

The pneumatic device differs from other models by good impact force, high reliability and fast operation. To use it, you need to take an additional compressor.

The compressor helps to create the required pressure.

For standard household chores, this type is not suitable. It's better to use a simpler model.

If you decide to open a construction or furniture company, then such a stapler is quite suitable.

To charge the pneumatic, you must do the following.

  • The unit is blocked. This will help to avoid accidentally turning it on, so press the button that opens the tray where the staples s. Depending on the model, the lid of the tray may open or pop out of the handle by itself.
  • Re-check that stapler continues to be on safety.

During operation upholstered furniture upholstery wears out over time. This manifests itself in the form of scuffs, stains that cannot be washed and other defects. In order not to spend money on new pieces of furniture, it will be enough to reupholster them. For this, a furniture stapler is used, which helps to update the appearance on their own in a short time.

The principle of operation of the device is to use staples that are loaded into the mechanism and, by pressing the trigger, fix the fabric on the case. The product is able to work with soft materials fixed on a wooden structure. The product allows you to quickly provide excellent bonding of soft materials on wood. A quality tool has the following positive characteristics:

  • it takes less time to reupholster furniture than when working with a hammer;
  • you can use the gun with one hand, and the second to help yourself at work;
  • the tool can be used even in hard-to-reach places.

The listed advantages are only a small part of all the advantages of working with the device. Today, the range of staplers for furniture is represented by a variety of types that differ from each other in the internal design:

  • mechanical staplers - such models have the simplest mechanism of operation that does not require the use of special skills. The device of the tool consists of a spring, which, when the trigger is pressed, shoots staples at the furniture. The simplicity of the product is the key to its durability. Models are used for home furniture upholstery, they are ergonomic and do not need a network connection or additional accessories;
  • the electrical counterpart is a sophisticated version of the manual stapler. The mechanism of such a device is based on the principle of operation of the motor, with the help of which the impact force of the bracket increases many times over. With the help of the model, the hauling is faster, the stapler is also used around the house and household. The tool is powered by electricity, which limits its mobility, but this nuance is solved through the use of batteries;
  • pneumatic tool - is considered the most powerful option for a stapler for furniture. The model works from compressed air, there are no springs in the design, instead of them, manufacturers equip the tool with a pneumatic cylinder. When you press the pedal, air is supplied, and the distributor sends it to the cylinder. Products have big weight, however, are the most durable. This is best choice for furniture factories, when work is carried out at a fast pace.

To choose a good version of a tool, you need to clearly define its purpose: if you plan to use it infrequently, then it is better to opt for a mechanical version. For continuous work, choose a pneumatic or electric stapler.

Pneumatic

Mechanical

Impact force and other characteristics

The defining technical indicator of this device is the impact force. It depends on it the speed of the tool, as well as the quality of the work performed. Obviously, pneumatic models have the highest characteristic, followed by electric options, and mechanical furniture staplers have the least impact force.

The stapler is capable of hammering staples of different lengths. To calculate the force of his blow, it is enough to study technical certificate models. It should indicate the recommended staple lengths. The longer the maximum length of the brace used, the higher the impact force will be.

But before choosing a stapler, you need to understand what it will be used for. If there is no regular use of the tool in the plans, then high strength impact is not a determining factor. In addition, different lengths of staples can fit differently into different types of wood.

In addition to the main characteristics in the operation of the product, it is also worth paying attention to the available additions that greatly facilitate the use of the device:

  • narrow tip - used to improve accuracy and sight;
  • adjusting screw to change the impact force is convenient for working with different surfaces;
  • it is better that the handle is equipped with rubberized inserts so that the tool does not slip out of the hands during operation;
  • if the staple store is equipped with a transparent window, it will be easier to use such a stapler;
  • the stopper of the handle is also important for the safety of use: it will not allow accidental pressing.

When choosing a stapler, hold it in your hands to understand whether it is convenient to use. It often happens that even quality tool does not fit in the hand.

Choice of staples

The first thing you need to pay attention to when choosing a tool is the type of staples with which it is used. A gun for home use today starts with the most common staple size - type 53. This type is optimal for simple work on fixing fabric or film to wood. The thickness of such staples is 0.7 mm, and the width is 11.4 mm. In addition, another type of filling for household tools is used - type 140. Such staples are 1.2 mm thick and 10.6 mm wide.

The technical specifications of the models indicate what types of staples it works with. The most common sizes for mechanical options are 53, 140, 300, 500. It is necessary to use only those types of filling that are recommended by the manufacturer. If you load staples of the wrong size into the stapler, the tool will not work properly.

When choosing staples for a pistol, pay attention to the following features:

  • staple depth - this indicator ranges from 4 to 14 mm. It is necessary to choose the depth taking into account the material used for the work. When covering furniture with a tapestry, the furniture stapler for the home is charged with 8 mm staples, and when working with soft material, for example with felt, a depth of 10-12 mm is suitable;
  • staple type - as already noted, this criterion should be indicated on the product packaging. If the type of staples is incorrectly selected, there is a risk of jamming the device and its distortion. In addition, if a smaller filling is selected, the tool will shoot two staples at once.

If there are problems when choosing, contact consultants for help, they should suggest which type of staples is most suitable for different types models.

Charging the stapler according to its type

You need to charge the tool magazine depending on its type, which is horizontal and vertical. In addition, there are some features in charging different types of staplers:

  • It's fairly easy to fill a mechanical stapler with staples. To do this, select the fuse mode, then flip the flap on the back of the tool to gain access to the store. We take out the rod with the spring block and insert the required number of brackets. Return the rod back and install the block into the slots. Close the sash until it clicks, using furniture staplers, instructions for use will help you understand its work if it is done for the first time;
  • working with a pneumatic stapler is much easier and faster, however, such a tool requires a compressor, therefore it is used only on a large scale. Charging the product occurs by analogy with the mechanical version. First, set the mechanism to the mode of protection against accidental shots. Open the hatch with brackets by pressing the button. The empty tray will pop out of the machine and must be filled with staples. It is necessary to invest the filling with a wide part to the design of the device. Check the evenness of the laying of products and close the block to the end. Turn the device over and remove it from protection, now it functions.

As you can see, there is nothing difficult in charging a furniture stapler, if you have questions and problems, you can always watch a detailed video.

Nuances of choice

Before choosing a product, it is worth deciding on its purpose. As already noted, it is important to decide: for what purposes the tool will be used - large-scale or domestic. For household needs, manual models are suitable, for permanent work - pneumatic ones.

In addition, it is necessary to understand where the device will be used: on the street or in the house? When choosing an electric option for working outside the home, a problem may arise: how to use a furniture stapler without a network? In this case, you will have to additionally purchase battery packs, which significantly affect the weight of the tool.

When choosing a device for everyday work in the domestic plan, use the following recommendations:

  • pay attention to the mobility of the product - it should not depend on extraneous factors, free access to the device should be carried out at any time;
  • when choosing a tool, study the information on how to use a stapler so that there are no difficulties during independent work;
  • if you plan to use the device for a long time, discard the mechanical analogue in favor of electrical options. Long-term use of a manual stapler leads to inconvenience. A product with a motor will do the work for the master.

When it comes to production turnover, pay attention to a professional stapler for furniture.

When choosing it, follow these tips:

  • any workshop has a compressor, so choose the pneumatic version of the tool - it works much faster than its counterparts and allows you to hammer thousands of staples in a short period of time;
  • in production, they often work with various materials: plywood, chipboard, beams, so before choosing a furniture stapler, study the types of staples used.

If there is such an opportunity, then in the store ask the consultant to test the product by hammering a few staples into a piece of thick plywood.

Safety precautions for use

When working with any type of stapler, you must follow safety rules that will help avoid accidents. This is especially true when using the tool at home when there are children in the family. Heed the following tips.

Construction stapler gradually gained worthy popularity as a tool for carrying out finishing works. This simple device became indispensable for fastening roll materials , proving its effectiveness and versatility.

Currently, a wide range of staplers is offered in stores, and therefore it is necessary to choose the right one, taking into account the actual conditions of its operation.

Construction stapler (furniture stapler, stapler) is a hand tool for fastening various elements. According to the principle of operation, it differs little from a conventional clerical stapler, because. in both cases, the fastened elements are connected by brackets (usually U-shaped).

However, if a stationery tool pierces through the materials to be joined and bends the ends of the bracket, fixing the fastening, then its construction counterpart drives the ends of the bracket into the base according to the principle of nails.

What is it needed for?

A construction stapler can be used when carrying out such work:

  • furniture upholstery - any kind of fabric, leather, suede, microfiber, etc.;
  • fixing, vapor and waterproofing during the installation of floors, walls, ceilings;
  • fastening posters and photo wallpaper to the wall and shields;
  • fixing in cabinets rear walls made of fiberboard, hardboard, plywood and other cast materials;
  • assembly of packaging structures, corrugated cardboard stitching;
  • installation of glazing beads on window frames;
  • installation of grooved boards on the floor and fastening;
  • installation and greenhouses;
  • fastening of cables and wires;
  • facing with polymeric plates and drapery with fabric;
  • other installation and finishing works.

In fact, the stapler is designed to replace attachment methods such as driving small nails and gluing.

It has these advantages:

  • a large pressing area compared to nails, which increases the reliability of the connection;
  • simplicity and accuracy of fastening, less likelihood of displacement of elements relative to each other when connected;
  • acceleration of the process and mechanization of labor;
  • possibility of use in hard-to-reach places;
  • fastening of various elements, regardless of the material, which compares favorably with the adhesive that must be selected;
  • versatility.

Which to choose?

Construction staplers are divided into several types according to some parameters. For example, according to the principle of action– mechanical, electrical and pneumatic tools.

By appointment
:

  1. Typical (classic) stapler. It usually uses U-shaped staples, but special nails can also be installed. It has a universal purpose.
  2. cable stapler is able to fix cables and wires with a diameter of up to 8-10 mm, for which rounded brackets are used. Such fastening can be carried out in electrical networks with a voltage of not more than 50 V. It cannot be used at high voltages due to the risk of a short circuit. The main purpose is telephone, computer, communication lines.
  3. Packing tool designed to work with cardboard (including corrugated cardboard) and various film materials. It resembles a stationery, because. bends the ends of the staples, but has a much greater power and size.
  4. window option able to fasten glazing beads and other elements with metal studs. The length of these fasteners can be from 10 to 50 mm, depending on the principle of operation of the stapler.
  5. tacker uses V-brackets. This fastener design allows you to connect workpieces located at an angle to each other. An example of use is the assembly of frames for photographs or paintings.
  6. The rivet stapler (riveter) is capable of installing aluminum, copper and steel rivets.
  7. staple hammer uses the inertial principle, i.e. it is used like a hammer, but the force of impact is increased by special mechanism. The main purpose is the installation of roofing and flooring.

According to specifications:

  1. Impact strength. This is important criterion tool selection, because it determines the depth of clogging of the fastener (bracket, nail). For domestic building given parameter is in the range of 3-16 mm. The weak power tool works with staples up to 8 mm high, and the more powerful ones with staples exceeding 10 mm.
  2. Clamp width. The area of pressing the elements during their fastening, which means the speed of the operation and the reliability of the connection, depends on this indicator.

Mechanical

The most widespread is a mechanical stapler, the principle of operation of which based on increasing physical strength with a spring mechanism. During operation, the user presses with his hand on the handle, which bends the spring.

At the maximum bending point, the spring is released and all of its accumulated energy is directed to hit the fastener (bracket, stud or nail). This effort is enough to drive it into the base.

The spring in a mechanical stapler can be twisted or lamellar(spring) type. When choosing a tool, it is better to give preference to the second option, because. it provides significant impact force with almost no recoil. AT modern designs The impact force is adjustable, which makes it possible to adjust the tool to work with materials of different hardness.

Main flaw- the need to apply significant effort when breaking through a solid base and physical fatigue during prolonged work.

Electric

An electric stapler differs from a mechanical tool in that the bending of the spring is provided by electricity. When you turn on the device, it immediately enters the ready state, and to hit the bracket, just press the start button. Such a stapler can work from a network or a built-in battery.

Usually, battery power is preferred, because. attachment to the outlet is eliminated and there is no cord that interferes with work. The most commonly used batteries are the nickel-metal hydride type (2 cells at 14.5 V) and the lithium-ion type at 18 V. The second type of battery is the most reliable.

Main Benefits electric stapler- elimination of physical effort, which is important with a large amount of work; work acceleration; convenience and practicality. disadvantages- higher cost, lower reliability and a large mass of the tool.

Pneumatic

In a pneumatic stapler impact load provided by compressed air. Such a tool can be produced in a stationary and manual version.

In the first case, the air supply is regulated by a pedal, and in the second - by a start button.

For pneumatic tools it is necessary to have air compressor , which creates the main drawback - the bulkiness of the equipment.

Among positive aspects This stapler is distinguished by a locking system from accidental inclusions, preventing jamming of staples, and shock load adjustment. The most important plus is the highest speed of operation and a huge penetrating ability.

note

The pneumatic tool can work with nails and hairpins of the maximum length.

Staples: types and sizes

When working with a construction stapler, it is important to choose the right brackets for fastening specific elements. When choosing the most common consumables recommendations should be followed:

  1. For fastening thin fabric, paper sheets, cardboard, U-shaped paper clips with a thickness of 0.7-0.75 mm, a width of 11.3 mm, and a height in the range of 4-14 mm are suitable.
  2. For fiberboard, plastic, dense fabric - U-shaped brackets 1.2 mm thick, 10.7 mm wide, 6 to 14 mm high.
  3. For mounting cables and wires - semicircular brackets model S 1.2 mm thick, 4.5 mm wide, 8-10 mm high or model L of the same thickness, 6 mm wide, 10-15 mm high.

In addition, when choosing brackets, one must take into account that they differ in such characteristics:

  • sharpened and unsharpened;
  • in shape - with a narrow (for an inconspicuous connection) and a wide (increased reliability) back, as well as a flat shape for connecting non-woven films;

  • Simple and accessible on how to insert staples into a stapler or properly fill for independent work:

    A construction stapler becomes a tool that, if necessary, is equated to an electric drill or a screwdriver. It is often needed at home to repair an apartment or furniture. It is important to choose the right tool and then it will serve for a long time and with benefit, solving many everyday problems.

It has a second name - a furniture stapler. The name is due to the scope of the tool. A construction stapler is used to connect two or more elements of a product together. The construction stapler finds the most frequent use in the woodworking industry and in the manufacture of furniture. In domestic use, a stapler is also necessary, it helps to quickly connect parts without wasting time hammering nails. How to choose a construction stapler, and how to use it correctly, read the article below.

How to choose a construction stapler

Specifications construction stapler depend on the selected type. Staplers are classified according to the type of driving force. There are three types of construction staplers:

  • Mechanical construction stapler. Works due to mechanical force. By pulling the trigger, the spring inside the stapler is triggered, hammering the staple into the material with great effort. The disadvantage of a mechanical stapler is its low efficiency when working with hard materials, however, it is compact, has light weight, it is easy to carry around in a standard tool box.

  • Electric construction stapler. The spring is set in motion by the same trigger, but this tool no longer requires mechanical force, the power source is electricity. Staplers are available in two types: mains-operated and battery-powered. Each stapler has its own advantages and disadvantages: the network stapler is more powerful and will not sit down at the right time, but the electric wire gets in the way at hand; the battery model eliminates the risk of cable penetration, but the battery makes the tool heavy and bulky.

  • Pneumatic construction stapler. Works at the expense of the high pressure created by pneumatics in a stapler. They have high performance, but due to the heavy compressor, they are stationary, and are more often purchased for industrial purposes than for home use.

In addition to the type of driving force, it is customary to distinguish between professional and household tools. Household staplers are short-lived, made mostly of plastic. Professional staplers are aimed at long work and long service life. For home and domestic needs, I recommend purchasing a semi-professional hand tool, it is assembled from quality materials, will last for many years, but will cost several times less than a professional tool.

How to fill a construction stapler

Many novice builders have a question about how to fill the construction stapler correctly. There is nothing difficult in this work, but it is necessary to follow the sequence of actions in order to eliminate the risk of a sudden shot of the tool.

  • The first step is to lock the tool with a button or safety lever, depending on the model.
  • With reverse side open the groove of the stapler magazine. Depending on the specific model, mechanical force or pressing a button may be required.
  • Remove the inner retaining rod, pushing the spring, install the construction stapler staples on the rod, pointing the tip away from the handle.
  • Return the rod to its place, close the store.
  • Take the safety off the tool, fire a few shots at the block of wood for a test run.

How to use a construction stapler

The rules for using a construction stapler are simple: before use, check the operability of the tool on a separate piece of material, adjust the spring tension if necessary, firmly attach the tool head to the material, press the trigger and do not move the tool until a shot is made. It is much more important to know and use safety precautions when working with a construction stapler. The tool is considered potentially dangerous, do not neglect the rules during the work.

  • When work is completed, always secure the handle with a safety lock against accidental operation.
  • Never point the tool at your hand, other people or animals.
  • Postpone stapler work if you are not sober or not feeling well.

  • Keep your work area clean. Lighting should be bright, no one should distract from work. Do not forget about a stable body position and safety glasses for your eyes.
  • Connect the electric stapler to the mains only after making sure that the tool is turned off and that there is a fuse on the handle.
  • Do not use power tools in damp or rainy environments. Watch the position of the wire during operation.

There is nothing difficult or dangerous in working with a construction stapler if you follow the rules for working with the tool and do not neglect safety precautions. The key to quality work is attention and accuracy.

We continue with you to choose professionally. Many tools have already revealed their secrets to us, but so far the conversation has not turned on the stapler. For quite a long time, a construction stapler has become an indispensable and indispensable component of the master's arsenal, regardless of the type of activity. Today we will consider the features of this tool.

Today I would like to talk about a very simple, but extremely interesting tool. He has a narrow specialization, but performs a thousand and one operations. It is durable and functional, but is relatively inexpensive. Striking - he creates. So, we meet - a construction stapler.

The stapler has been leading its history since the eighteenth century. They say that for the first time the device for hammering staples was used in France, naturally, at the royal court. In the nineteenth century, in connection with the development of printing and printing, the stapler received a new round of development. In 1866, a mechanism was patented for connecting sheets of paper using metal staples, a year later - for thin brass sheets. However, the taker, stapler, stapler, nailer, stapler, stapler received real recognition quite recently, especially when it comes to its construction application.

As soon as the first staplers appeared in our country, they made a splash in the circle of domestic European-quality repairers. With this tool they shot literally everything that the bracket could break through, there were even attempts to fasten drywall to a wooden frame.

One day it was just an anecdotal situation. Our guys were gluing cork wallpapers, which did not want to join in any way, so they decided to temporarily grab them with staples until the glue sets. It was at this time that the customer (a very influential person in our country) came to the facility and saw how we were operating the stapler. He silently took cellular telephone and said into the phone: “Ivan Ivanovich (an even more famous person), did these builders whom you advised put a cork on glue for you? Yes? And they shoved me with a stapler ... ". It turned out he was just joking.

How a stapler works

The main work in the stapler is performed by a simple percussion mechanism. Mechanical and electric tackers have a twisted or flat leaf spring in their design, which is cocked using a motor or muscle force (a pneumatically driven stapler functions a little differently, but we'll talk about that later).

So, pressing the trigger, or moving the lever to the extreme position, we release the striker. The latter, obeying elementary physical laws, pulls out a separate bracket from the clip and drives it into the material. Staples are loaded into the pistol magazine like a clerical stapler, they are also (using a spring pusher) fed into the exit channel area. It is believed that, unlike the office counterpart, this tool simply drives the snap into the base, but in fact there are models with a reciprocal “anvil”, due to which the staple legs are bent.

In essence, a equipped tacker replaces a hammer and nails, only it takes one press to complete the task, instead of several separate blows. Note that if earlier staplers shot the material only with staples, now they can hammer nails and even various kinds of mounting studs - pins.

Thanks to its unique design, the tacker has become a very popular instrument with many advantages:

  • nailing materials to each other does not take much physical strength;
  • compared to using a hammer, installation takes several times less time;
  • in most cases, only one hand is involved, the second we can help ourselves;
  • as a rule, there is no need to press on the tool, which is very convenient when working in an unstable position, for example, on a stepladder;
  • the spring part is easily nailed;
  • you can "crawl" into a squeezed place;
  • the kinetic energy is transferred very precisely, there is no danger of damaging the base workpiece (e.g. when glazing). No vibration, chips, scratches;
  • true versatility due to the variety of consumables;
  • a small number of moving parts - reliability, durability, ease of operation and maintenance;
  • consumables are not subject to corrosion;
  • high degree of safety - sharp equipment is closed inside the case, a fuse system is used for non-mechanical devices. You don't have to worry about getting hit on your fingers.

What is a stapler capable of?

A modern stapler performs two main types of tasks. The first is nailing one material to another. As a rule, plastic, wood or its derivatives (chipboard, OSB, plywood) act as the basis, but everything that the tacker can pierce is attached to it. The second task is the stitching of equivalent parts with a staple bend. In any case, the connection is very reliable, especially if you use equipment with asymmetrical sharpening or melting coating.

The stapler of furniture cases was very fond of craftsmen and decorators. This tool is widely used in construction and manufacturing. Almost everyone home master such a machine is in the arsenal. Here are just some of the operations that are performed using the taker:

  • fastening various furniture upholstery and structural elements;
  • drapery;
  • fixing canvases, posters, reproductions on frames;
  • nailing sheet materials to frames (fiberboard, chipboard, OSB, plywood, foil, tin);
  • production of modules, subsystems and crates;
  • installation of roofing material and bituminous tiles;
  • installation of insulating materials, films, membranes and heaters;
  • cladding surfaces of plastic and wooden clapboard, siding;
  • assembly of floors from grooved boards;
  • fixing carpets;
  • laying of power and low-current electric cables;

Of course, not every mechanical stapler can do all the work listed here. But electric and pneumatic takers are much more productive, they are capable of anything. Let's figure out how takers differ, and what is intended for what.

Stapler mechanical

The modern mechanical stapler is beautiful in its own way, like a medieval crossbow or AK-47. You pick up this elegant little thing and understand: here it is - perfection. There is nothing superfluous in it, it is simple and infinitely reliable.

Mechanical models of staplers are distinguished by the least complex design, which does not require special skills from the user. They have almost no wearing parts, in fact, they are only springs. Maintenance of mechanical tackers requires lubrication general purpose just use them from time to time. The main advantage of such devices, of course, lies in the absolute autonomy, independence from electrical and air networks, they are always ready to work. Such models are the lightest and most compact, their ergonomics are positively affected by the absence of power cables, hoses and batteries.

Mechanical staplers are driven solely by muscle power. However, it is not always a manual machine. In workshop production, stationary staplers are often used, in which (by means of a system of rods and levers) the drive is carried out by the operator's foot. Unfortunately, it is difficult to perform large volumes of work with a mechanical staple gun, and not every material is subject to them, for each device there is an insurmountable limitation on the length of the equipment.

The main parts of the stapler are made of alloyed or structural steel. The case of ultra-light hobby models can be made of shockproof ABS plastic (Rapid-R53 ERGONOMIC). In this case, it is preferable if the lever is metal, since the main effort is applied to it. It is believed that the best option is when the casing is collapsible, assembled with screws, and not with rivets, which makes it possible to get to the “insides” and make cleaning and necessary repairs. The strong stable case provides to a stapler durability and high quality of the performed operations. Cast light alloy cases have excellent strength/weight ratios. All steel casings are protected by a special coating - powder coating or nickel / chrome plating.

When choosing a stapler, you should pay attention to the type of percussion mechanism. The torsion (twisted) spring requires a lot of effort, respectively, and the impact of the tool is quite noticeable. Spring (leaf) spring is used in professional models. It is much easier to “cock” and provides less return, however, a machine with this design will cost more. In general, the problem of recoil for a stapler is very serious. To neutralize recoil, all kinds of shock-absorbing, damping pads on the handles, special Constructive decisions cases, when the energy is distributed evenly over the entire palm. low return and low level noise directly indicate the quality and manufacturability of the tool.

It is not clear how manufacturers do this, but in some models, the force on the operating lever must be applied unevenly. AT extreme point when the compression work is carried out with an open hand, the lever goes relatively easily, and when we press it closer to the body, the spring “resists” much more, but the hand’s capabilities also increase. Thanks to this load distribution, you can work for a long time without fatigue. By the way, it would not be out of place to take a look at the so-called “grip angle” - how much the lever is removed from the body in the initial position (the smaller this distance, the more convenient the tool, especially for working “on weight”).

The most important element of a mechanical taker is the penetrating force adjustment mechanism. By means of a knurled wheel (STAYER 31510) or a switch, it is possible to adapt to the material of a certain hardness. For example, pine requires minimal force, while chipboard or plastic will require the full potential of the spring. This option allows you to drive a staple or a nail exactly flush with the plane, without “undershooting” and without excessive immersion, which breaks the target material, or leaves dents from the striker.

A very useful feature is the possibility of a double strike (repeated shot), when you can make an additional impulse on the unfinished bracket. In this case, the consumable feed mechanism is disabled.

All kinds of distance stops, guide elements or hooks (BOSCH HT8) are used to drive in the tooling at a given distance from the edge of the part.

To crawl the tool into hard-to-reach place, the spout of the output channel is sometimes made protruding.

To exclude involuntary triggering of the cocked stapler during storage and transportation, use the "impactless descent" function. In a certain position, the lever without interaction with the spring folds to the body and is fixed with a latch or ring (HAMMER SET8). There is no need to "shoot in the air" or completely empty the store.

About Shop. It is important that it closes securely when loaded. Loading operations are much easier to perform if the stocks are inserted into the gun (similar to a stationery), and do not slide through a slotted hole. It is very convenient to be able to control the number of remaining staples in the store without disassembling it - through the viewing window. A plus is the presence of a safety system that requires, when disassembling the feed unit, to turn the gun upside down (Novus J-19 EADHG).

The most important aspect of choosing a mechanical stapler is the size of standard equipment. The classic option is to complete the device with a U-shaped bracket of a certain thickness, width, with different lengths of legs. There are “cable” staplers that have a round groove in the working part, which allows you to put the tool on a low-current cable (4-8 mm in diameter, up to 50 volts) and mount it with a U-shaped bracket. By the way, in nature there are special brackets that work with an insulating gasket for fastening rather large power wires (Novus J 19 OKY).

Universal tackers have become very popular, capable of simultaneously working with straight and rounded staples, as well as small nails and pins that are loaded to the right or left of the striker. One way or another, but pay attention to the maximum allowable length of the recommended consumables and the width of the equipment (brackets with a large plane hold thin materials better, for example, polyethylene film). For stitching cardboard, folding staples are used - a stapler is required with a reciprocal anvil.

separate view mechanical staplers are staple hammers (hammer tackers), which have a longitudinal layout. Work in such machines is done under the action of inertia - we just hit the tool on the plane. A hammer stapler cannot provide jewelry fastening accuracy, but it is indispensable for large areas when you need to quickly shoot some thin-sheet material (for example, a strip of roofing material or a diffusion membrane). The length of the bracket for such a tool is usually limited to 10 millimeters. Here again, Novus and Stayer succeeded.

Electric stapler

tackers with electric drive much more functional and stronger than mechanical models, since the motor does all the hard work for us. Here, manufacturers can use more stubborn springs, which means they can get a greater impact force at the output, and, accordingly, complete the tool with large consumables. An electric stapler has all the useful options of a simple stapler, except perhaps for mobility (requires an outlet). The problem, of course, is solved by using a battery, but the question of mass and capacity arises.

The power of electric staplers can reach 1500 W (BLACK & DECKER KX418E), which allows you to hammer equipment to a very decent depth. For example, the Rapid EN50 gun is capable of working with 50mm studs. On average, the “ceiling” along the length of the bracket is 25 mm, while for “muscular” machines it is about 10-15 mm.

To protect against electric shock, the developers used plastic casings and rubberized pads on the handle. The power cord and motor windings are double insulated. By the way, a solid length of the power cable (5 meters or more) is considered a good form rule - it seriously improves the ergonomics of the product.

The main components of the taker, and the sole in particular, are made of metal, which affects the durability and functionality of the tool. However, the weight of the electric stapler (let's add the mass of the engine here) often exceeds the mark of 2 kilograms.

Naturally, a stapler with a motor has a number of interesting systems: smooth (Metabo Ta M 3034) or stepped (Sparky T 14) adjustment of the impact force, protection against accidental start, safety locks, pulse frequency control, depth sensors, automatic multiple impact (Novus J -155 A), fastener remover, impact with two staples, pressure shot on the tip (Bosch PTK 14 E).

Many craftsmen have complaints about the low rate of fire of electric staplers, so you should pay attention to such a characteristic of the tool as the maximum number of pulses in a certain time. For average models, this figure is in the range of 20-30 shots per minute.

In the case of battery electric tackers, take a look at the capacity of the battery, the rate at which it is fully charged. It's great if there is a second power unit, or if it is interchangeable with a battery from another tool from the same manufacturer. For example, the Makita BST220RFE model is equipped with two 14.4-volt 3 Ah units that charge in just 20 minutes. And the Makita BST 221 Z is sold “in its pure form” - without a charger and battery at all, but such a device is half the price of an equipped analog. In general, an 18-volt BL1830 slider-type lithium block is installed on this machine.

As for the performance of battery-powered machines, it is currently simply impressive. Staples and nails up to 30 mm long, thousands of shots per charge, rate of fire up to 30 beats per minute (BOSCH PTK 3.6 V). And this is with a stapler weighing 1.7-2.5 kg (Makita T221DW - 1.7 kg, RYOBI CNS1801M - 2 kg).

Pneumatic stapler

The compressed air tacker is the most powerful tool among all staplers. Not surprisingly, they are direct relatives of monsters that hammer mounting pins into concrete and steel (similar to a powder gun) or huge nails into wood - up to a hundredth size. There is no main spring in their mechanism, and the main performer of the work is a pneumatic cylinder, to which air is supplied from a pneumatic distributor controlled by a pedal (for stationary models) or a trigger (for hand tool). The design of such machines is quite simple, they are durable and easy to maintain, you only need to clean the tool occasionally. Inexpensive o-rings are considered wear parts for pneumatic staplers.

However, pneumatics require compressed air (compressor), and for some industrial units, a separate power supply line is also required. It is believed that this tool is mainly used in medium and large-scale production. The most important characteristics of pneumatic staplers are the operating pressure and, to some extent, the air flow per stroke. There are models that operate at a pressure of 4 bar, and there are those that require 6-8 bar. There is usually no problem with a lack of air (flow), because this is not an airbrush. It turns out that an average portable compressor with a 25-liter receiver, which costs about $200, will quite pull such equipment. That is why pneumatic staplers have become increasingly used in small workshops and on construction sites.

What pneumatics are especially valued for is their rate of fire. A gun that clogs one staple per second (SENCO SFT 10) is considered the norm, which is twice as fast as any electric equivalent.

Interestingly, with an abundance metal parts, the average pneumatic tacker weighs almost the same as its mechanical counterpart - about a kilogram. In addition, it is quite compact.

Naturally, such staplers have all the useful properties of electric staplers, as well as a set of their own features. These are locking systems, contact and separate start (BOSCH GTK 40 Professional), shock adjustment, staple anti-jamming mechanism, removable filter (Makita AT2550A), multiple shock ...

Makita AT2550A

Many pneumatic staplers can easily handle long and wide staples (up to 50 mm), medium nails. They are the most productive.

We emphasize once again, no matter what type of stapler you choose - pay attention to the equipment with which it works. It is its size that can say the most about the true purpose of the tool. Use exclusively "branded" consumables, the only way you can count on the long life of the taker.
