1. Material- galvanized steel. High-quality products are covered with a multi-layer anti-corrosion coating, due to which they practically do not rust.
2. Dimensions- approximately 150 mm long (there are also longer ones, for installation in deep openings) and 25 mm wide.

1. metal thickness- from 1 to 2.5 mm. Standard products are made of 1.5 mm steel, and this is quite enough to securely fix typical windows in the opening. Mounting plates from 2 mm are used when fixing heavy structures from a multi-chamber profile, large-sized frames and for high-altitude installation.

Thickened modifications have two drawbacks - the high price and the complexity of bending. If 1.5 mm bends perfectly with your fingers, then 2.5 mm will have to be bent with a hammer on a template, which will also damage the galvanization.

Plates for fastening window structures are of two types:

1. Universal. They are just perforated strips of metal. They are used for wooden windows, and for PVC products, and for other purposes.
2. Specialized. They are usually equipped with latches, the configuration of which corresponds to the configuration of the protrusions on the PVC profile. At the same time, they are fixed not only through the use of fasteners, but also due to the hook on the profile.

The second variety is more reliable, so if possible, try to use it.

Terms of use

The fixing plate for PVC window blocks provides less fixation rigidity compared to the anchor. On deaf structures, this is not so noticeable, but in windows with large and heavy sashes, the difference will be quite obvious. To compensate for it, you must strictly follow the rules for using plate fasteners:

1. Fixation of plates on the profile. The part must not only be snapped onto the frame, but also additionally secured with a self-tapping screw with a diameter of at least 4 mm and a length of 25 mm or more (with a drill). The self-tapping screw is twisted so that the drill enters the reinforcing profile.

When installed on wooden frame each element is attached to the array with at least two self-tapping screws.

1. Correct placement. On the sides, the plates are installed from above and below, at a distance of about 200 mm from the corners. In the upper part, fasteners should be placed either strictly in the center or opposite the impost. The optimal step for installing the plates is 500–700 mm.
2. Bending angle. To ensure contact with the opening, the plate is not bent at a straight line, but at an acute angle. Due to this, the transverse displacement of the frame is minimized, and the rigidity of the fixation is increased.

1. Fastening to the opening. Fixation of each plate in the opening is carried out using one or two plastic dowels with a diameter of 6–8 mm. The dowel is driven into a pre-drilled hole, and its wide neck should press the metal part against the plane of the opening. Final fastening is done with a locking screw with a conical point.

For installation according to all the rules for each attachment point, it is necessary to choose a bed with a depth of about 2 mm with a chisel so that the plate is flush with the opening plane. So, of course, no one does: all the same, the fasteners will be hidden by plaster or slope sheathing.

Plate mounting technology

The instruction for the installation of window structures involves working according to the following scheme:

	Design preparation. We unpack the frame, remove the sashes from the hinges, install the connecting and expansion profiles. We glue mounting tapes on the frame: vapor barrier on the inside, vapor-permeable on the outside.
	Plate installation. In the selected places, we install the plates, snapping their fasteners into the grooves of the profile. We bend the plates at an angle so that when the frame is installed in the opening, they are pressed against the slopes.
	Plate fixation. We fix each plate with a self-tapping screw with a drill. Screwing it through a plastic profile into a metal armour.
	Drilling for fasteners. We install the frame in the opening and align it in three planes using mounting wedges. We correct the position of the mounting plates, pressing them tightly to the edges of the opening. We drill sockets for fasteners through the holes with a drill. The depth of the nest must be at least 10 mm greater than the length of the dowel used.
	Structure fixation. We hammer plastic dowels into the holes, pressing the plate to the base. We fix each dowel with a locking screw.

Working according to this scheme, we get the opportunity to quickly fix the frame without violating its integrity and without removing the double-glazed window. The fastener itself will subsequently be masked by the finishing of window slopes.

This method of fastening the window system is as simple as possible and accessible to everyone.

Compared to the unpacking method, the method is considered absolutely safe for the window system, but the only drawback is that some fastening-plate elements will remain visible after installation. However, they can also be properly disguised, hidden under the slopes during their fine finishing.

Inserting a plastic window with plates is easier and safer than bolting

There is one more recommendation from experts: if the window has an opening sash, which will be used very often, then the window may fail. This fastening is recommended for moderate opening or fixed windows.

An alternative is the combined method of fastening: the upper part of the structure is mounted on plates, and the lower part is fixed with anchor bolts.

After that, you need to try to measure the depth of the window opening, for this, you may need to beat off part of the plaster or remove the wooden plank from the side parts of the window.

When you have purchased a window and the weather is good outside, we start work. There are two options for fixing PVC windows during their installation: on anchors and on plates. It is impossible to say specifically and unequivocally which of these two types of fastening is the best, since each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages. In view of the fact that fastening is the most important component of installing a plastic window, and the fact that beginners who want to install plastic windows with their own hands are interested in this issue, we will consider this issue in more detail with your permission.

So, first of all, when choosing the type of fastening of plastic windows, it is necessary to focus on the type of walls. That is, if you have a panel or brick house, then you are not limited in choosing the type of window fastening, but if you want to install plastic windows in a new building or in country house, which are built from foam blocks or gas blocks, then the windows must be fixed exclusively on mounting plates.

The biggest disadvantage of fastening windows to anchors is the so-called depressurization of the profile. As you know, there are several cameras inside the profile, which are separated from each other. Thanks to these chambers, the profile “holds” the temperature, since, for example, in winter the coldest chamber is located on the outside of the window, and in each subsequent chamber the temperature is slightly higher. In the outermost chamber, which is located with inside, the temperature is several degrees higher in winter than in the first chamber, so there is no temperature difference in the profile. In principle, the meaning is clear that due to such a structure and tightness of the chambers, they retain heat in the profile.

When the profile is fastened with anchors, it is drilled through, resulting in depressurization of the chambers. Also, fastening plastic windows to anchors requires more time, accuracy and skill, so this is not the most the best way bindings for beginners. If the profile is not pinned correctly, it may lead, and if this happens, then the window by and large will be damaged, as this is fraught with gaps both between the double-glazed window and the profile, as well as loose closing casement. The advantage of fixing plastic windows with anchors is that the structure will be more durable, that is strong winds will not cause the profile to vibrate, and the likelihood that the structure will sag heavily after installation is also reduced.

As for attaching plastic windows to mounting plates, it is much easier, and it also saves a large number of time and cameras in the profile will not be depressurized, and this is very important. The disadvantage of mounting windows on mounting plates is the lack of structural strength, that is, the window may tremble slightly, but this will not be significant. However, mounting plates are the easiest way for beginners to fix a plastic window.

Some installers, when installing plastic windows, simultaneously use both of these types of fasteners. What type of window fastening to use is up to you. If you decide to fasten the profile to the mounting plates, then we fasten them to the profile with self-tapping screws, but if it is decided to fasten the profile with anchors - with a drill or a puncher, then first make holes in the profile.

From each corner at a distance of 120-150mm, the first fastener is made, then subsequent fasteners are made in increments of 700mm. There must be at least 3 fasteners on each side.

Profile fixing

Before placing the profile in the window opening, check the planes of all sides of the opening with a level. After that, with the help of wooden blocks made of hardwood or linings made of polymer materials we raise the profile and adjust it vertically. Vertical adjustment is made from the upper part of the window opening, that is, from the bottom you need to raise the profile using the named materials. Then align the profile horizontally. Preliminary fixation of the profile in the window opening on the sides and top is carried out using wooden blades. When the profile is leveled on all sides, inspect it - is everything correct, and proceed to fix it.

To fix the profile to the mounting plates, first use one hollow nail. Then once again check the evenness of the profile with a level and after that fix each mounting plate with a second dowel-nail. If you fix the window on the anchor, then through the holes made in advance, using a perforator, make holes in the wall, screw in the anchor, but do not tighten them, firstly, you need to check the evenness of the window with a level, and secondly, you need to tighten the anchor slowly so that do not disturb the profile geometry. When the profile is fixed, we take out the wooden blades from the sides and the top, the lower ones remain - they are the basis of the profile.

Low tide

The next stage of work is the installation of the ebb. We measure the ebb and with the help of scissors for metal we adjust it according to the right size. Then a vapor barrier tape is glued from the bottom of the frame, which will protect the seam between the wall and the bottom of the window, under the ebb. When the tape is glued, we apply a layer of mounting foam on top of it, and another layer on the edge of the plate to ensure sealing and soundproofing of the ebb. The ebb enters the grooves of the profile and is fixed with special self-tapping screws.

Next, using a special mounting foam for installing windows, we blow out the mounting seam between the wall and the profile: first on the left side, then on the right, then at the top. A feature of this mounting foam is the lack of expansion, which is very convenient for installation - the foam fills the gaps, but does not swell excessively. The surface of the wall can be slightly moistened beforehand. After a few minutes, when the foam dries a little and expands, we glue the second part of the insulation tape on top of it on the wall.

Installation of shutters and double-glazed windows

First, remove the protective tape from the inside of the window. When installing a double-glazed window, use special linings so that it evenly closes the opening. Next, use the slats to fix the double-glazed window, you can hammer the fixing slats into the grooves using a rubberized hammer. After installing the sash and fixing it in the canopies, fix the handle and adjust the sash itself vertically and horizontally. At the very end, a mosquito net is installed.

Windowsill

Then we move on to the final part - the installation of the window sill. We foam the bottom mounting seam well and stick a vapor barrier tape on top of it. The next thing to do is to install wooden blocks on which the window sill will be laid. The pads must be at least 10cm in length. The level of the pads should be such that the window sill is firmly pressed against the bottom of the profile. Another nuance - the window sill should have a slope towards the room of no more than 5 degrees. Please note that the window sill should not cover the battery, otherwise the heat from it will not spread to the window. It is unnecessary to fasten the window sill to the mounting plates, as well as to special clips: the method proposed by us will provide a strong and reliable fastening window sill. Check if the window sill is tightly held, then sing it from below, preferably with mounting foam that expands. At the end of this stage of work, place 5-liter bottles of water on the windowsill to fix it.

Important! In accordance with GOST (30971-02), one cannot count on mounting foam as on fasteners (its function is exclusively sealing). Horizontal loads on the fastening are also unacceptable - the block is fixed in the opening with the help of gasket materials (wedged). In fact, the fasteners must hold the structure perpendicular to its plane (to prevent the window from falling out).

What determines the choice of fasteners?

When choosing a mount, first of all, they look at what the opening is made of, in which it is planned to install a plastic window. The openings are made of brick, concrete, decorative stone, wood, metal, cinder block, shell rock or light porous materials (foam concrete, aerated concrete and others).

The second important factor is the type of structure and technical features installation. PVC profiles are used for mounting balconies, loggias, entrance doors, hallways and windows.

Fasteners for PVC structures

Plastic structures are installed using anchors, self-tapping screws (in some cases with dowels) or anchor plates.

This type of fastening is presented in two versions: a classic anchor and an anchor for hollow materials.

The length of the dowels varies from 70 mm to 202 mm. The size suitable for installation is selected based on the thickness of the window profile (60mm), the mounting gap between the frame and the opening (standard 2 cm), and the material from which the opening is made. Installation in frame structures should also be performed on the plate. In some cases, the sidewalls of the structure are fastened with self-tapping screws through the profile.
