Plastic windows position winter summer. Self-adjustment of plastic windows

  • 27.06.2020

Received in our time quite widespread, metal-plastic windows, without exaggeration, have a direct impact on the "weather in the house." In the face of constantly rising energy prices and, accordingly, the cost of utility bills (in particular heating), it is very important that the products are not only correctly selected and installed. Timely and high-quality adjustment of windows for the winter is also necessary. Otherwise, during the cold period, precious heat will escape through the resulting leaks to the outside, heating the street.

In the warm season, the quality of ventilation in residential premises comes to the fore. This will also be easily achieved by your plastic windows, which have undergone proper adjustment.

In this article, we will present instructions for preparing windows for the winter and summer periods. In addition, we will give tips on fixing minor problems, such as sagging and rubbing of the leaves, which is also part of the preparation for the respective temperature seasons.

Preparation for adjustment

As a rule, preparation for adjusting a metal-plastic window in each case comes down to selecting a suitable tool and identifying problem areas that require the intervention of an adjuster. Let's consider each of the stages in more detail.

Tool selection

To adjust window fittings, an ordinary hex key “four” is most often required. Sometimes you may need an asterisk key, a special mounting key with an oval-shaped notch (for oval locking pins). Rare species fittings can be adjusted with a regular screwdriver or pliers.

Identification of places in need of adjustment

The places that need adjustment are usually determined in the following way:

  1. First, find out whether it is necessary to adjust the clamping of the window (sash). To do this, set the position of the locking pins located on the edge of the sash next to the window handle. The position of the trunnions with the shape of a circular cross section is determined using the risks or points applied to them (hereinafter referred to as the risks). Pin risks “looking” upwards mean that the sash is in the middle position. So most often they are set by default by the installer. Pivots with a risk in the direction of the room indicate that the sash is set to the winter position, while the opposite position of the risks will mean orientation to the summer. This knowledge will allow you to find out if window adjustment is necessary in your case.
  1. In addition, the sash should be checked for sagging. Usually this has been around for a long time installed windows. Sagging most often causes friction of the sash against the frame during opening and closing. Friction, as a rule, is accompanied by a characteristic sound, and it is determined by ear.

Adjustment plastic windows for the winter is not limited to just changing the position of the trunnions, as is commonly thought. The density of pressing the sash to the frame can be additionally changed using the adjusting elements on the hinges. However, not all models of fittings have similar elements.

DIY Adjustment Instructions

Eliminate sagging (friction)

If during the inspection of the window a sagging sash was found, it must be eliminated. Do it like this:

  1. Open the sash 90 degrees relative to the frame.
  2. Find a screw located on the adjusting mechanism at the top hinge.
  3. Insert a key (usually a hexagon) into the screw hole and rotate until the desired result is obtained.

Clockwise rotation of the screw will raise the diagonally opposite corner of the sash (the lower one farthest from the hinges), counterclockwise will lower it.

With a lack of experience in this work, you should check the result after each turn of the screw. It is necessary to achieve the complete disappearance of friction.

In rare cases, these actions may not work. Then you need to return the screw at the top hinge to its original position, find the adjusting screw on the bottom hinge of the sash (under the plastic trim on top of the hinge) and slightly raise the entire sash also with a key.

Adjusting the sash pressure

As mentioned earlier, the main way to adjust the pressure of window sashes is to change the position of the pins (eccentrics) on the vertical edge of the sash, opposite to the location of the hinges.

Because eccentrics can be various types- round with a risk or oval, we will separately consider how to perform adjustment work in each case.

If round trunnions with existing risks proceed as follows:

  1. To change the degree of pressure from summer to winter position, use the key to turn the trunnion 180 degrees so that the risk, turned towards the street, begins to “look” towards the room.
  2. When transferring the sash from the winter to the summer position, the trunnion is scrolled 180 degrees so that, as a result of the risk, it “looks” towards the street.
  1. From the middle position (when the risk is directed up or down), it is enough to scroll the eccentric 90 degrees in the desired direction, as described above.

Adjustment of the sashes of plastic windows with oval pins is carried out according to the following rules:

The video below will help you understand the adjustment rules more clearly.

So, as you can see, preparing windows for the summer or winter season is not at all laborious and is quite within the power of even a simple layman. Remember that this type of work should be carried out twice a year, and also do not forget that tightly closed doors and windows can Negative influence on the freshness of the air in the room, unless, of course, additional ventilation is provided in it. This is especially true for residential premises.

Reading time ≈ 8 minutes

Modern plastic windows are installed everywhere and everywhere, because they are superior in many respects wooden crafts. However, for full functioning, it is necessary to adjust the position of winter-summer plastic windows, which can be done independently in accordance with the instructions.

Why adjustment is required

You need to set one or another window mode according to the season. Due to the increase and decrease in temperature indicators, the windows must be closed more and less tightly. Thus, it is possible to improve the flow fresh air inside the room in summer, and reduce heat loss in winter period. If the PVC window is always in the “winter” position, then the sealing gum will become unusable due to strong and prolonged pressure.

If you leave the window in the winter with a weak pressure, then drafts and high heat losses will occur inside the room. Often, when installing a window, the adjustment is set to the middle position, which corresponds to the "spring-autumn" mode.

When the season changes, it is advisable to make appropriate adjustments.

When to Adjust

Setting the required position is required in several cases:

  • there is a strong draft through the frame;
  • the window does not close and open well;
  • sashes sag;
  • the window fogs up when the humidity in the room is high.

It should be borne in mind that some manufacturers (usually in the budget segment), in order to save money, install components that do not allow adjustment.

Varieties of adjusting elements

The force with which the opening part of the window leans against the frame is adjusted by special elements called trunnions. They are located on the side parts and on top of the valves.

The quantity, appearance and location of these elements may differ both from the cost of windows and from the manufacturer. The most common are:

PVC window adjustment sequence

To adjust plastic windows with your own hands and set the winter-summer mode, you need to familiarize yourself with step by step this process.

Instrument preparation

To carry out adjustment work, you will need the following list of tools:

  • hex key;
  • a set of nozzles in the form of stars;
  • minus and Phillips screwdrivers;
  • pliers.

Preparatory activities

Selecting the desired window mode is a matter of minutes, which every owner can do. However, windows should first be prepared for operation during the cold period. To do this, perform the following steps:

Door clamp

Let's figure out how to transfer plastic windows to the winter position:

The eccentrics turn by 180°: from the initial position by 90° to the right and to the left, which corresponds to the "winter-summer" mode.

Top loop

Hinge adjustment is resorted to in case of loose or uneven fit of the opening part of the window to the frame. So, in order to more lean the upper corner of the sash with the possibility of turning and tilting against the frame, you will need to tighten the screw on the scissors.

In case of sagging of the sash and touching the impost, by changing its position, you can get rid of the engagement. The screw itself is in a hinge, and to access it you will need to open a window.

Turning the key clockwise raises the lower opposite corner of the sash, in reverse side- its lowering. In the process of adjusting work, you need to ensure that the trunnions do not rest against the reciprocal bar. If the desired result could not be achieved, it will be necessary to tighten the screw on the scissors, for which the sash is opened so that it is held only by the lower hinge.

One of the plates has a hex wrench baud bolt. By turning it clockwise, they achieve greater pressure on the opening part of the window to the frame. Reverse rotation will weaken the fit of the corner to the frame.

bottom loop

The bottom hinge has 2 adjustment screws. One of them allows you to set the sash horizontally, i.e. raise or lower its upper opposite corner.

The second adjustment is at the top of the hinge. To get to the adjusting element, you will need to open and fold the sash, and then dismantle the plastic lining. By tightening the screw, the sash can be raised and, accordingly, vice versa.

If, during horizontal adjustment, it was not possible to get rid of the engagement of the lower corner of the sash with the profile, then by raising the opening part, this problem can be eliminated.

Setting up windows from different manufacturers

Each brand that produces PVC windows has its own characteristics, and adjustment is no exception:

Possible problems

When operating PVC windows or making adjustments, it may turn out that the fittings do not function properly. The reasons may be different, so some of them are worth dwelling on in more detail.

Loose handle

Most often, the handle begins to dangle due to loose fasteners. The nuance is eliminated by shifting the plastic lining and tightening the handle fasteners with a Phillips screwdriver. As a rule, this is enough for the fittings to fit snugly against the window.

sticky handle

Such a malfunction may have the following reasons:

Locked handle

If the handle is blocked, do not rush to change it. Typically, this problem is caused by a malfunction of the locking mechanism, which prevents the leaf from changing state when it is open. You will need to turn the lever responsible for the lock so that the handle has free play.

broken handle

If the handle is broken, then the only solution to the problem is to replace the part. This is done quite simply: just turn the cover and unscrew the fasteners from two screws, and then remove the handle. Installation new part carried out in reverse order.

Checking the tightness of the window

After adjustment work, a sheet of paper is placed between the opening part and the frame and the sash is closed. Then they pull on the sheet, controlling its tension. If the paper comes out easily, by adjusting it, you need to press the opening part against the window.

You can also use a lighter. If the flame deviates from the vertical, this will indicate insufficient tightness.

The most common type of glazing today are plastic windows. Their popularity is well-deserved, due to high quality, durability, the highest thermal insulation and sealing performance. Also, such windows have a fairly wide functionality, since their system uses advanced modern fittings, which are quite complex and consist of many mechanisms.

Since such a system is complex, it can fail, or it simply needs to be adapted to different weather conditions in order to increase quality. This whole process is called regulation, and that's what we'll talk about today.

How to properly adjust

In order for plastic windows to better retain heat and prevent the penetration of cold air flows into the room, they should be adjusted. This is done before the onset of significant cold weather, when the temperature is in the region of plus five to ten degrees Celsius.

Basically, they increase the pressing pressure of the window sash to the frame, thereby compressing the seal more strongly, which retains heat and protects against blowing and drafts.

Errors when adjusting windows for winter-summer

The most common mistake is to increase the clamping force too much. Thus, the quality of the sealing of double-glazed windows, of course, will be as high as possible, but the sealant will fail very quickly and will need to be replaced. Also, with too much pressure, the fittings will also wear out, it will lose its rigidity.

Too much down pressure is also bad for brand new windows. The sealant there has not yet had time to adapt to the operating conditions and a sharp pressure on it can completely ruin the material. Once loosened, the new seal will not return to its original shape.

The next common mistake when adjusting plastic windows for winter-summer is uneven pressure. After strengthening, it is necessary to check the entire perimeter of the window so that it fits evenly, if this is not done, there is a risk that the denser side will pull the opposite side and blowing will occur there.

Very often, after the passage of cold weather, when the winter is over, everyone forgets to loosen the tightened windows, which is absolutely impossible to do. Since with the onset of heat, plastic and rubber begin to warm up and expand accordingly.

Thus, the pressure increases significantly, due to which the window may become unusable if it is left in this state for too long. Be sure to loosen the double-glazed windows several times to allow air to circulate.

Stages of work

Do-it-yourself adjustment of plastic windows is quite simple, for this you do not need special knowledge, tools and special skill in this matter. Carry out all adaptation and adjustment measures pvc windows under the power of everyone, without much difficulty.

The most common adjustments are for malfunctions such as sagging of the sash, which can cause it to get stuck or rub against the window frame. The appearance of a draft or a deterioration in the tightness of the structure is associated with a change in the clamping pressure, which needs to be strengthened or weakened, depending on the nature of the malfunction.

Hardware fasteners can loosen and become loose, this should also be promptly eliminated in order to avoid their deformation and increase the quality of the window. Now let's look at how to fix each of the faults.

Eliminate sagging sash

This phenomenon manifests itself when one or more loops holding the entire leaf begin to weaken and give some vector deviation from the norm. Subsequently, the sash can get stuck with its lower corner; when interacting with it, it touches the bottom, top or middle of the frame. Thus, the design deteriorates very quickly and loses its properties.

To adjust the plastic windows, it is necessary to remove the protective caps from the hinge we need and tighten the largest bolt, which is responsible for the attraction of the sash. If friction occurs from above, you need to loosen the upper loop and tighten the lower one. When the double-glazed window sags too much during twisting, it must be slightly lifted.

If it is necessary to move the window door to one of the sides, the screws that are on the hinges in a vertical position should be adjusted. Depending on which direction the turns are made, the sash will move to the left or right side.

We eliminate blowing

To eliminate drafts and various blows, it is necessary to adjust the clamping force of the plastic window sash. This is done very simply, by acting on three trunnions, which are located on the end of the window.

They are adjusted with a hexagon, by wrapping. For tuning, two to six turns are made, as a rule, this amount is quite enough to create comfortable conditions.

You can check whether it is necessary to perform such an action using matches. Light one, and carry around the perimeter of the window, following the flame. To check the uniformity of the pressure, you should use a piece of paper that is clamped between the sash and the frame during closing. This procedure is repeated around the entire perimeter of the PVC double-glazed window.

Loose fittings

If any elements of the fittings have lost the rigidity of their fastening, they should be tightened. Since such looseness is fraught with a quick failure of a separate section or the entire system at once. As a rule, all fittings are bolted, which over time may lose their original rigidity.

It is very easy to solve such a problem by tightening the bolts more tightly. Experts advise to carry out such twisting once a year, to eliminate minor malfunctions and prevent the system.

It is very important to know how the fittings of plastic windows are adjusted and with what tools.

I’m not talking about the case that plastic windows were poorly installed and adjusted in my house, which not only didn’t open and close well, they also let in cold in winter and warm air in summer. Well, tell me, and then it makes sense in general from plastic windows. Most easy way check their airflow, this is to bring your hand to the slots. And also open the europack and see if it opens or closes on its own, then this is also considered a defect. In this story, you can see how you can independently adjust the European package. They also need to be adjusted to the seasons: summer and winter.

How to manually adjust the plastic windows?

Plastic windows of a modern design, thanks to the current characteristics of high quality and ease of use, easily brought coziness and comfort into our everyday life. This level is achieved not only due to high-level sound and heat insulation characteristics, but also due to a carefully thought-out system of different plans of mechanisms responsible for the quality of functioning.

During operation, the system of mechanisms, like any other mechanism, requires periodic maintenance and performance monitoring. In addition, sometimes minor or serious malfunctions can occur, which over time can make it difficult or even impossible to use the window frame. But a greater number of all the malfunctions that occur during the operation of windows can be eliminated without resorting to a professional service, since all this will really be done with one's own hand.

In a modern style window fittings There are quite convenient mechanisms by which you can regulate the European package. If you have the most minimal set of tools available, then within a couple of minutes you can bring your plastic window back into working condition, while saving a large amount of money.

Malfunctions in the operation of plastic windows

  1. when closing, the europack door touches the frame from the side or from below;
  2. the sash does not fit snugly against the frame;
  3. the europack does not want to close if the window is blocked when the handle is turned to the "closed" mode at the moment the shutter is open;
  4. window does not want to close when closed casement and the absence of turning the handle;
  5. breakage of the handle;
  6. the handle turns, but with difficulty;
  7. the opening of the sash occurs with great effort.

What tools are needed for repairs?

  • a set of "stars";
  • pliers;
  • hexagon 4 mm;
  • screwdrivers (flat and Phillips).

A greater number of modern-style windows have in their design the possibility of adjusting the window parts in three planes at once. This detail makes it possible to achieve the most right position of the window part in the frame, also ensuring the optimal level of pressure of the seals absolutely along the perimeter of the window sash.

Individual elements according to appearance may vary depending on the hardware manufacturer. This also applies to the adjustment methods and the tool used, but in general terms, the window sash adjustment scheme is as follows:

Let's look at what kind of actions you need to perform in order to troubleshoot in each of the specific cases:

The sash of the window, when closing, touches the frame from the side or from below.

Adjustment of plastic windows

Now we will move on to direct instructions for adjusting plastic windows. It is necessary to move the sash up or to the side of the upper hinge. You need to do the following for this:

  1. Open the sash
  2. Turn, using a hexagon, the adjusting screw, which is located near the top hinge at the very end of the sash, clockwise by three to five turns
  3. close
  4. Remove the cap from the bottom loop
  5. Insert the hexagon into the bottom loop and make three to five turns clockwise
  6. Check the free play, and if necessary, repeat the adjustment until the malfunction is eliminated.

Window frame does not fit snugly against the frame

You need to move the sash to the hinge locations. For this you should:

  1. In the case when the side of the window part only touches the frame from below, then it will be enough for you to take it to the side of the lower hinge. You can do this under the bottom hinge with the adjustment screw.
  2. If the frame touches the side of the sash along its entire height, then it should also be taken to the location of the upper hinge. The course of manipulation is described in the previous situation.

On the side of the window handle, on the side end of the sash, there is a system of eccentrics that regulates the pressure density against the sash frame. Outwardly, they may differ, depending on the manufacturer, but the principle of their work is identical.

With pliers or a hexagon, you can rotate the eccentrics, which can create exactly the degree of pressing the sash to the frame that you need.

Adjustment summer winter plastic windows

  • In case of an urgent need to adjust the degree of pressing the sash to the frame from the hinge side, then this should be done using the adjusting screw on the lower hinge.
  • In the case of a tilt-and-turn sash, additional regulation of the sash pressure by the top hinge is necessary.
  • In order to get to the adjustment bolt located on the scissors at the location of the upper hinge, you should open the window, then turn the handle to the ventilation mode, having previously pressed the blocker.
  • By rotating the blocker clockwise, you press against the frame, and if the blocker is rotated counterclockwise, on the contrary, you loosen the clamp.

Some types of fittings are regulated using specially designed otvetki, which are located on the window frame on the side of the handle.
The position of the otvetok can be adjusted using hexagons. To ensure a stronger pressing of the sash to the frame, you should move the answer closer to the street. On the frame from the side of the window hinges there are clamping mechanisms that are regulated by a hexagon. The sash will be stronger pressed against the frame when the tongue is pulled out more.

The window does not close in case of blocking when the handle is turned to the "closed" mode at the time of opening

In order to avoid damage to the hardware mechanisms, the window handle should only be turned when the sash is closed. To avoid accidental closures, a special kind of blockers are provided that do not allow turning the handle when the window is open. Such blockers are located under the handle at the end of the sash and are of different types, depending on the manufacturer of the fittings. To unlock the handle, you will need to press the aforementioned lock.

The window does not want to close when the sash itself is closed and the handle is not turned

If the window is closed, but when the handle itself does not turn, this indicates that the blocker clutch did not work with the counter element on the frame. There are two ways to fix this problem:

  1. Slightly move the sash to the side where the counterpart of the blocker is located, using the adjusting screw, which is located under the bottom hinge.
  2. Slightly loosen the mount and insert a thin plate and some hard material between the window frame and the most mating part of the window blocker.

In order to replace the handle, you should pull the handle cover slightly towards you and then rotate the cover perpendicularly. Then you should unscrew the screws and remove the old window handle. After installing a new handle, the pad should be returned to its original position. Window handles can be bought either from us, or in hardware or construction stores.

The window handle turns, but with difficulty

The most common cause is insufficient lubrication. It is recommended to lubricate the hardware mechanisms once a year or even more often. In such cases, machine oil or an aerosol lubricant, for example, WD-40, is used.

I would also like to remind you that even in the absence of obvious defects, lubricate the mechanisms and control technical condition of all systems of mechanisms of fittings should be done once a year and more often.
Despite all the elementary nature of the aforementioned troubleshooting and window adjustment methods, it is necessary to start these manipulations when you clearly understand what exactly and how to do it. Otherwise, it would be more appropriate to turn to specialists.

Adjusting windows for winter is a very important aspect. But often people do not know about it or simply forget. If you do not engage in the maintenance of windows, then even the most expensive of them can break or lose their properties. Windows must be handled with care, otherwise there may be consequences such as drafts, cold and noise coming from the street.

This manipulation should be carried out before the onset of frost, while the outside temperature is positive.

Why is it necessary?

Probably, many people know that plastic windows have two modes: summer and winter. Each of these modes plays an important role. When buying and installing windows, you should be instructed on how to properly set up and use plastic windows. Thanks to this, you can avoid many problems. However, most often no one knows how to properly configure, so they use the services of specialists. But to set up windows, you will not need much effort, because there is nothing complicated in this.

The initial adjustment is made immediately after the installation of the window. Of course, this makes life easier, but it will not help you in any way when the seasons change in the future.

Many craftsmen say that adjustment is very important for windows, this is the main test of how windows behave in cold weather. By adjusting the windows, the temperature in your room will remain within normal limits, you will be able to avoid drafts and significantly increase the tightness of the windows. If the adjustment is neglected or performed incorrectly, this may cause excessive moisture, and in very coldy frost may form on the windows. If your window is not the first year, then the tightness of the window is already much lower than at the beginning of its operation, there are quite a few reasons for this problem.

In order to avoid unforeseen breakdowns, windows should be adjusted before each change of seasons. If you do not change the modes from summer to winter, then you will allow cold air to enter your home. As a result, the air temperature in the house drops significantly and more energy is expended to keep warm. The first window adjustment must be made during the initial installation of the window. Try also to conduct technical inspections at least once every 2 years. Often during inspections, specialists find any deviations in the design. The wizard will help you sort out this problem.

When adjusting structures, do not forget that a weak pressure corresponds to the summer season, and a strong one, respectively, to the winter.

It is not difficult to independently adjust the PVC double-glazed window with your own hands for the winter period. Our guide will help you.

Tools

You may need special tools to adjust windows. Try to stock up on tools such as pliers, a hex wrench, Phillips and flathead screwdrivers, and it would be nice to have a set of screwdriver bits in stock.

To lubricate the structure, you can use ordinary machine oil or a special spray.

Identification of places in need of adjustment

In order to determine the places that need to be adjusted, you first need to find out if the sash pressure needs to be adjusted. To do this, you need to set the position of the pins, which are located near the handle, on the edge of the window. The clamp is determined using dots or small strips that are on the round section of the trunnions. If the strips point to the upper position, this means that the window clamp is currently in the middle or normal position. Usually this is the position that the specialist set for you when installing the window.

If you see that the stripes look inside the room, then this indicates that at the moment the design is set for the winter season. And if the stripes look in the opposite direction, then, respectively, for the summer season. In addition to the above, it is useful to determine the frame for sagging. More often, windows that have been installed for a long time are exposed to sagging.

The sagging of the frame (sash) can be determined even by sound. When the sash sags, it rubs against the bottom of the frame, of course, this is accompanied by a specific sound.

Common Problems

The most common plastic window problems are:

  • condensate;
  • mold;
  • depressurization;
  • equipment failure;
  • freezing in winter time years and other issues.

Condensation and mold- very unpleasant aspects plastic structures. In principle, the very presence of condensate is the norm, but it should be very small, and it is allowed only at the edges. If the window sweats completely, most likely this is due to high humidity indoors or due to a large temperature difference (outdoors and indoors).

The most economical and, of course, the simplest solution is the banal airing several times a day for 10-15 minutes.

But also a special shutter can be installed on the window, which makes it possible to micro-ventilate. However, this service costs little money. Can be done indoors ventilation system. However, this is not cheap, and it will take a lot of effort.

Mold is the result of condensation. Mold can be caused by improperly made slopes. They can be plastered or made from drywall. The problem with plastered slopes is that they freeze quickly, which leads to the appearance of fungus. Slopes finished with drywall are not such a bad option, especially if they are insulated mineral wool. In this case, they have excellent thermal insulation properties. But it is worth considering that such slopes can be done in rooms with low humidity.

Perfect option- these are plastic slopes. They are easy to clean, do not need to be painted, and when insulated with mineral wool, they retain heat well.

If the rubber (seal) deteriorates, this may cause poor sealing. The easiest way is to replace the rubber band. However, remember that the gum will last you longer when proper care. Twice a year, the seal must be lubricated with silicone grease. Dust and dirt can accumulate there over time, because of this, the gum loses its elasticity and cracks. To avoid this, simply clean the gum from dust and dirt before lubricating. Do this at least twice a year.

Another common problem is equipment breakdown. This can be caused by dirt, dust and improper maintenance. The first sign may be a clicking sound when turning the knob. Within a year, the mechanism is likely to be broken. To prolong the life of the window, lubricate and clean it at least 2 times a year.

Peculiarities

Before working with a window in the winter season, first you need to set the value to neutral (standard) and check for the fact that the window is blown through. Pressing the gum immediately after installing the window is not recommended, as they can shrink and deform in a new state.

If you have a high-quality seal, then most often, they give a guarantee for it, but this is subject to proper care. If you immediately set the pressure to strong, then it will quickly become unusable, as a result, when the next winter comes, it will be found out that it blows from the windows even when the modes are changed from summer to winter, and the gum has dried up and all cracked. In this case, the seal should be replaced.

There are times when even after adjusting the windows to the correct mode, in winter it still bleeds through the window, and even replacing with a new insulation did not help. Usually this happens if the house "sat down", then the window also sags. When you turn the window handle, the trunnion should go behind the plate and press the window firmly. If this does not happen, then the window setting should be different.

How to put?

  • Before starting work, you need to find out which of the pins do not reach the plate. To do this, inspect the window sash and remember all the protrusions. After that, you need to close the window.
  • Further grab the frame where the trunnions are installed, and pull towards you. If the trunnion has gone beyond the ledges, then the window will be immovable, if it has not gone, then, accordingly, the window can be moved. Thus, check all places where there are trunnions and determine where there is no tight pressing. Determine in which direction you want to move the sash. This can be done by adjusting the top and bottom loops.
  • If the window does not close well at the bottom, then you need to adjust the lower loop. At the very bottom of the hinge there is an adjustment hole, it can be for a hex key or for an asterisk. To adjust, turn the key clockwise or counterclockwise. Accordingly, along the way, the window moves towards the hinge, and against it moves away. If you have unscrewed everything to the stop, but there are no changes, return everything to its original position, most likely, the matter is different.

  • There is another adjustment screw at the bottom of the hinge, but to get to it, you need to put the window on the air and remove the protective cap. There will be no problems with the removal, it is done very easily. After that, you will see a recess, insert the hexagon there and twist it clockwise or counterclockwise. Turning it clockwise raises the sash, and turning it counterclockwise lowers it.
  • If such a problem occurs on the top of the window, open it 90 degrees. There is also a hinge at the top of the window, however it is not the same as the bottom one in terms of design. But there is also a hole for a hex screwdriver. Then make the adjustment by turning the key in the desired direction. However, do not forget that between the sash and the hinge you need to leave a distance of just a few centimeters. This is necessary so that the swing-out mechanism has the opportunity to go there. Each time you turn the key, check how your window closes and opens.

Usually, pressure adjustment means changing the mode for different seasons. In winter, the clamp must be strengthened, and in the summer - weakened.

First, make sure that you really need adjustment. The easiest way is to hold a match or a lighter near a closed window near the sash. The flame will show whether the window needs to be adjusted, whether it is blowing out of it or not. Open the window and take a close look at inner part sashes. There you will see three trunnions, they are the ones that regulate the window pressure. You can adjust the window with a hex screwdriver.
