Second hand "Paradox" takes small room in the basement on Novoslobodskaya. Two people are engaged in purchases at the English ruins, they are also sellers and consultants. In the center is the pride of the saleswoman Masha - Aquascutum dresses, Moschino trousers and half a dozen more or less well-known brands. In the sales department, prices start at 20 rubles, the most expensive item in the store is a jacket for 2,700. In the farthest corner there are several hangers with children's things, the most touching of which is a woolen scarf with ducks for 100 rubles. At the exit there is a stand with non-trivial frames, which, as the owners promise, will soon be on sale. You need to go to Paradox for green and purple windbreakers from the 90s, bomber jackets, motorcycle jackets and unisex shirts with very nice prints.

"FACTORY"

The Factory project is run by four people. It all started with Irina and her VKontakte group, where she sold things sent by her uncle from America. Now the "Factory" has its own 85 sq. m on the territory of the Electrozavod, which has not been working for a long time and rents premises to various organizations, from a bakery to a design bureau. The guys themselves made repairs in a bright two-level room and, with the help of an artist friend who recently presented his exhibition right there, decorated the walls.

In antique cabinets and on the rails hang things of unknown brands from distant American life. US flag shorts “just like last year's Topshop”, ordinary cardigans with unusual embroideries, steamboat neckerchiefs, skirts with the smallest flower - cute post-war things with a lot of history. Here you can also find jewelry and shoes - huge cowboy boots or dusty loafers. Men's clothing is still scarce, but the guys promise to fix it. In the near future there are also group English classes, academic drawing lessons, film screenings and friendly parties.

Freak Frak vintage store was opened in 1997 by fashion historian Irina Getmanova. Now her son has become the director, but Irina herself can occasionally be found in a small room behind rows of velvet jackets. Freak Fraka employs 12 professional buyers, 11 of whom live in different countries Europe and one more in the USA. All of them are responsible for finding, buying, processing and sending things to Russia, where customs-cleared clothes are taken to a warehouse and then to a store. There are so many clothes in the basement itself that it is not possible to put your hand between two hangers with dresses.

It seems that it is simply impossible to remember where and what is hanging, given that a quarter of the assortment can go away in a day, which means that new things will appear in the place of these things tomorrow. But salespeople who also double as stylists are quick to find “that 70s-style polka-dot skirt” and “the same blouse with a different collar.” The hostess Irina accurately determines the age of a thing by one sleeve and complains, looking at a beautiful dress, that it is good for everyone, except for the darts made under the underwear of those years. However, he immediately says that this can be easily fixed, and leads to a locker at the entrance, where behind an unlocked flimsy door lies a luxurious Dior hat almost from the time of Dior himself.

Prices here are an order of magnitude higher than in second-hand stores, but having learned what path a thing goes from European collapse to these hangers, you are already preparing to give much more than they ask. And very soon things from the store can be bought online.

BEYOND RETRO

Beyond Retro is a vintage shop with a worldwide reputation and several branches in the UK and Sweden. Recently, the owner of Trends Brands, Nastya Sartan, brought Beyond Retro to Moscow - a corner that looks more like a market collapse than like neighboring stores opened on the first floor of Tsvetnoy. Beyond Retro has all the clothes in a single copy, and part of the collection can be ordered on the Trends Brands website, and other things can be viewed in the offline store - those that need to be tried on more.

The assortment is replenished once a month, and now in Tsvetnoy you can already buy something for the summer: long skirts in earthy shades, denim shirts with beautiful embroidery, accessories with gold fittings or combined leather dresses, which Versace made for H&M, only cheaper and without rivets.

The Dobro Space project Sveta and Ira have just launched. After purchases in Berlin, Amsterdam and Paris, the girls decided to create their own space, but until a place for the store is found, all sales go online. Lookbook items are sold on Facebook, and the fitting takes place at the home of one of the hostesses of Dobro Space, over tea and heart-to-heart conversations. Basically, prices do not exceed 1,500–2,500 rubles, so sweaters, shirts and tweed jackets are quite affordable for everyone. Soon the girls go to Berlin for new things, and upon arrival they promise to start accepting things for a commission.

"NOTHING LIKE THIS "

Going down to the basement of this second-hand store, you only think about how, with the help of such a remarkable name, “Nothing Like It,” furnished all the other stores, at least on this street. Inside, the rail with T-shirts hung out exactly according to the colors of the spectrum immediately catches the eye. However, there is no way for them to linger, because good-quality English raincoats and men's shirts of such pleasant colors are hanging opposite, that you no longer want to look at the rest. To find a familiar brand, you need to rummage through more than one hundred things, but this is not the main thing here. All clothes are conveniently divided into shirts, knitwear, jackets, dresses, and the latter are named very conditionally. Among the puffy mesh skirts and pinned to everything that is possible, huge purple flowers there are monophonic minimalist synthetic dresses that can be forgiven for everything else in this section.

In the first hall there is also a rail with camouflage and camouflage jackets. There are many interesting specimens in the hall to the left of the entrance: there are classic windbreakers, fashionable baseball jackets, and leather jackets - everything is hung with amazing care in terms of textures and colors. The vague impression of the women's knitwear department is compensated by a large number of bright and beautiful neckerchiefs and stoles.

And it turns out that, although “Nothing like this” is the most common second-hand store, of which there are hundreds, there is nothing like it in any of them. And it's not about things at all, but about cleanliness, order and a special museum atmosphere, when no one interferes and the exhibits are allowed to be touched.

Before Feelosophy finally settled in Kitai-Gorod, on the site of the former No Wave Store, the store moved countless times. Now the mostly male second-hand store has its own basement, where the guys sell things from closed stores, young brands and their own purchases. There is also a printing machine on which you can make color prints on T-shirts or sweatshirts.

Men's assortment - tight shirts with interesting patterns, plain T-shirts, funny sports jackets with stripes. About the Only Members brand, little known to us, but evoking a million associations in the memory of an American teenager of the 80s, five interesting facts can even be told here. Among the women's items, there are a lot of fussy knitted oversize sweaters with asymmetrical patterns and a few more sophisticated items with neat embroidery. The cheapest in the store are Czechoslovak and Polish badges for 30 rubles each, the most expensive is a warm jacket for 3,600 rubles. In addition to clothes, you can find multi-colored plastic watches and metal jewelry from Russian brands.

The commission Second Friend Store, which opened a year ago, is the best alternative to Mechta, because they sell stamps that, at the mention of which in Mechta, wrinkle their foreheads incomprehensibly. These are Rick Owens, Acne, Helmut Lang, Martin Margiela, Ann Demeulemeester and much more. The store sells things online, although in August it also opened a showroom, where you can come by appointment and during sales. SFS has a 40% markup, but you can still buy things here for half the price of a regular store. To sell your item, you need to take a picture of it, send a detailed description to the site and only after that bring it to the store and conclude an agreement. You can also order things by mail to any city in Russia - it’s not a fact that it’s suitable, but why can’t you do it for the sake of, for example, Alexander Wang shoes with fur tails?

The elite clothing store "Dream" opened 11 years ago and since then, it seems, has not changed at all. All the same taciturn merchandisers, revering clothes for a maximum of thirty brands and wincing in surprise at the mention of unfamiliar names; the same women in fur coats and stilettos with huge branded bags, waiting in line to receive the goods and not even looking in the direction of the almost perfect Michael Kors and Louis Vuitton bags displayed in the center of the hall.

The store takes 35% commission and keeps the goods from 45 days to three months, depending on whether they are interested in the thing or not. Judging by the fact that it is almost impossible to find a price tag of less than 10,000 rubles in the main hall, it becomes clear how the commission shop has existed with this name for 11 years. Clothing collectors say that occasionally they bring items from Russian designers to Mechta, but after a half-hour search, none of them can be found. Instead, a men's hall of 5 square meters is found. m, where rumpled jackets in various stripes, packed pink shirts and raspberry leather jackets hang.

In another room, with simpler stamps, there are two racks with shoes of all colors and mostly small sizes. You can also find an almost complete assortment of the Bosco store and an obscenely huge amount of Dolce & Gabbana items. Directly opposite - the unearthly beauty of Max Mara and Valentino coats, which, apparently, no one has yet reached. "Second Wind" is the closest commission shop to the Kremlin and, moreover, the very first one in Moscow that started accepting clothes of famous brands. The store opened 17 years ago, but even today it looks like it was on its first day: the interior has never changed and over time has acquired a resemblance to a junk shop somewhere near Paris. Furla and Jimmy Choo bags are hung on studs on the walls, lacquered Christian Louboutins peep out of a chest standing on the floor - judging by their appearance, they have survived a lot; next to them are brand new DKNY sandals and a dozen more pairs of shoes for all occasions. Then the shoes are found in general everywhere: for front door, under the rails, near a large antique wardrobe, on which stands the most expensive thing today - a quilted Chanel bag for 57,000 rubles, for the fate of which there is nothing to worry about: such things are bought here the very next day.

The store takes 30% of the cost and stores the clothes for 45 days, but a rare thing manages to lie for so long. Of the two rows of women's clothing (there are no men's in principle) on both sides of the hall, two-thirds are occupied by items with the labels Yves Saint Laurent, Versace, Max Mara, Jean Paul Gaultier, Marni, Jil Sander, Diane Von Furstenberg, Dolce & Gabbana (located as and in "Dream", in the obvious majority) and many others. Suddenly, among the podium brands come across Gap, H&M or Asos, and with such unjustified price tags that you want to look at the tag again and make sure that this is not a hoax. Despite the fact that some of the items here are brand new (mainly Asos and H&M), you should carefully inspect the clothes before buying. Actually, like everywhere else.
