Step-by-step production of a wooden box with your own hands:
1. First prepare the bottom and lid of the box. In this case, 2 planks 16 cm long and 7 cm wide are the side walls, the remaining 3 planks of similar sizes are vertical partitions, and 1 plank 18 cm long and 7 cm wide is a horizontal partition. All parts must be processed with a grinding machine.
4. You will also need a thin rail 36 cm long. It is best to use window glazing bead. The lid of your box will be attached to it. It also needs to be processed with a grinder.
5. Engage in assembling the frame of the box. Using thin nails, attach to the bottom first the short sides of the box, and then the long ones.
6. Next, prepare the partitions of the box. Do not touch two planks 7 cm long and 16 cm wide, but on a plank 7 cm long and 18 cm wide and a third plank 7 cm long and 16 cm wide, make small incisions in the center. Files are best done with a jigsaw. The length of each notch should be 3.5 cm, and the width should match the thickness of the partitions. Fasten 2 planks with the help of the made files.
7. Insert the partitions into the bottom of the box assembled earlier and secure them with nails. The cross is best carefully glued to the bottom using PVA glue.
8. Then, using thin nails and a hammer, nail a thin strip to the long side of the box where the lid will be attached. Using a screwdriver, screw the hinges to the bar, and then secure the lid of the box.

- We process the cut plywood strips with sandpaper. We pay special attention to cleaning the edges.
- We apply the templates printed on the printer to the blanks and transfer the drawings to the plywood base for cutting.
- For through cuts, we drill the starting holes with a drill, after which we cut out the pattern with a jigsaw.
- We additionally process the openwork parts with files and sandpaper, removing splinters and chamfering.
Note! These recommendations should be taken into account only if the drawings of plywood boxes used suggest the presence of openwork elements. If the walls and the lid remain intact, you can immediately proceed to the assembly.
When the preparatory processing is over, we begin to assemble the box:
- First we fasten the side walls together. The most reliable will be an adhesive bond reinforced with furniture nails or stapler staples.
- Then we attach the bottom to the frame.
- In the upper part, with the help of self-tapping screws, we fix metal loops. We hang a lid on them (flat or assembled in the form of a box).
Finishing
Before us is an almost finished box, which, however, needs to be slightly modified. Here the instruction largely depends on what we want to end up with:
- We re-process all surfaces and corners with sandpaper, removing all burrs formed during the installation process.
- We putty the joints of plywood sheets and the places of fasteners, hiding all the irregularities. We grind the dried putty, achieving perfect flat surface.
- We apply a primer layer on all external planes, which will ensure reliable adhesion of the wood to the varnish coating.
- We carry out varnishing, applying varnish in several layers. If a varnish mixture with pigments is used, then a darker varnish is laid on the base layers, and the surface is covered with an almost transparent one.
- An alternative to varnishing can be painting the box with special paints for wood.
Advice! For improvement appearance sometimes a decorative component is added to the paint - craquelure. Drying, it creates a network of microcracks on the painted layer, thereby simulating the effect of aging.
- Another way to traditionally decorate plywood boxes is decoupage. This technology consists in pasting the workpiece with decorative napkins, followed by varnishing.
