LED lamps for a bath waterproof. What lamps to choose for a bath in a steam room? Features of lighting in baths and saunas

  • 23.06.2020

It says there minimal degree of protection is IP44, but in reality it makes sense to make sure that it is IP56.(Recall that the first number means protection against dust, and the second - against water).

Waterproof, sealed

An important condition for the normal functioning of the lamp for the bath is dryness inside his body. To this end, manufacturers make the case sealed.

Matte shades baths are commonly used in steam room and washing. At the same time, quite often another one is made for them, additional lampshade made of wood, which performs the function of additional protection against mechanical damage and water ingress on the heated surface of the ceiling.

Those located in wet areas are subject to the requirement moisture protection. In the dressing room or rest room, you can put any models that are suitable for residential premises and suitable for design.

Chandeliers

Well, in our opinion it is too loudly said: "a chandelier for a bath." Still, the meaning of the word must be taken into account. Chandelier- this is when something hangs from the ceiling in the form of a bunch of lamps with shades. At least one lamp. It is difficult to combine the image in the mind wooden interior(and the majority chooses him) and more or less classical chandeliers. However, it is possible that people simply use this word instead of saying "lamp".

Okay, anyway, we wondered if it was possible to find suitable models for a break room, for example (other rooms are not at all in the subject). And you know, in principle, they are.

For example, it could be wooden wheel, like from an ancient cart, which is suspended from the ceiling on chains, and such pointed light bulbs in the form of lights are fixed along the rim. Such, it seems, were in taverns, and are quite in harmony with the wooden walls.

If you do not strive to imitate antiquity, you can buy or make this option yourself: a meter somewhere beam made of wood with light sources mounted in a row, suspended either on chains on either cables. Also more interesting complex structures from similar beams - for example, connecting them into a triangle or other figure.

Lanterns

A good option that will fit into the interior of the dressing room, and, if the size is suitable, then in small room recreation.

Depending on the interior, the type of lantern for a bath can be extremely utilitarian(mesh for a lamp with a visor on top) or even artsy, with rich forging and metal decorations.

Another point of choice - on sale you can find lanterns in the form sconce, which are attached to the wall chandeliers, which is attached to the ceiling, and in the form stand-alone lamp(there are desktop and floor versions).

Lamps: what can be put, which is better

In addition to choosing the shape of the lampshade, you also need to decide which lamps you will put in it.

In the bath, incandescent lamps are allowed in 60 watts LED lamps and strips, as well as halogen and fiber optic light sources.

Bath lamps: incandescent lamps

In the old days, there were simply no other options. However, this species is very fragile and sensitive not only to mechanical impact, but also to sudden change in temperature, for example, when water enters the flask. Therefore, they are dangerous by the very presence of glass and a hot spiral.

Another factor not in their favor is the amount of food they consume. voltage- 220 volts can kill a person if the unexpected happens. Although there are 36 volt bulbs, they can work through a transformer.

defend yourself from electric shock possible if you put RCD(more details in the articles on our website). In this case, the current will turn off so quickly that it will not have time to harm a person. BUT from mechanical destruction flasks must protect shade with mesh.

CONCLUSION: You can use such bulbs for a bath not only in dry rooms, but also in wet rooms, including a steam room. But taking into account the protection measures. In addition, this is the most budget type.

fiber optic

Optical fiber costs not cheap, but if this is not a question, then it can be used for lighting and a rest room, and a steam room, and a pool.

On sale you will find two types of cables - with lateral and end glow. The difference is clear: for the former, the light propagates from the entire surface of the cable, while for the latter, the cable itself does not glow, but bright light beats from the cut at its end. Side glow cable may have internal notches, which make the glow non-uniform, chaotic.

Both kinds fit for installation in bathrooms.

The device of the lamp includes projector and cables desired length.

ATTENTION! If you intend to use fiber optics in the steam room, then the projector must be located outside it, although not too far, literally behind the wall.

The projector can be equipped crystals and discs different colors.

LEDs

In principle, if there is interest in this topic, you can see a large one dedicated only to bath LEDs.

Here we will briefly describe them. LEDs can be tape or lamp. The latter is screwed into a conventional cartridge, the voltage in the network can be both 220 and 12 V.

For nutrition 12 volt LEDs are used either step-down transformer, or power unit. If a power supply is used, it must have galvanic isolation, which guarantees that even in the event of a malfunction, 220 V will not go to the current consumer.

LEDs are sensitive to two factors - to current fluctuations in the network and high temperature(above 65 degrees on the crystal). This shortens their service life.

Installing them in the steam room undesirable but beneficial– low voltage, low power consumption. Therefore, the trade-off with high temperature is usually solved by low-height installation of LEDs (where the temperature is lower). If this tapes, then they are laid under and behind the shelf.

IMPORTANT! Tapes used in wet areas must have a high degree of moisture protection - placed in a transparent sealed tube, as a minimum. As a maximum, transparent silicone is poured inside the tube.

DIY

First, let's find out exactly where it will be located. Because you can make your own sconce or chandelier made of wood, but for lighting the steam room and washing room you need hermetic models of glass sconces, which is better to buy, but come up with and make them cute shade. The difference is in the presence or absence of a base with a cartridge.

The choice of materials in the bath, where most people prefer wood trim, is not so great - most likely everything is the same wood, with less - glass and metal. And they don’t like plastic in the bath, and it doesn’t go well with wood in style. Therefore, below we will describe the stages of work for wooden lamps and accompany the text with several videos, which clearly show how exactly to implement the plan.

from wood

The essence of the process self-manufacturing can be represented schematically:

  1. If you are going to work with wood, it must be dry (humidity up to 15%).
  2. Think over the design and decide how the wires will pass - hidden, inside the tree, open on the surface, open with deepening into the grooves.
  3. Consider mounting the cartridge - it can also be hidden or visible, respectively, whether it needs a cavity or not, depends on the design.
  4. Consider attaching the fixture to a wall or ceiling - chains, brackets, hidden fasteners and many other options.
  5. Electricity is installed after all work with wood, including painting or impregnation, is completed.
  6. The number of twists and wires at the output depends on how many bulbs you put in and which switch you prefer.

Useful video for those who decide to do it yourself

The original lampshade design can be a source of inspiration for those who are going to do something similar for a lamp in the steam room. The ceiling chandelier from this video would look good in the rest room. But detailed instructions no, although it’s easy to guess how everything is done:

Another video for inspiration - numerous implemented chandelier options:

So, if you like the wheel idea, here is a video that shows all the steps in creating such a chandelier:

And here is an option that you can use either by literally reproducing what is shown, or to understand the technological points, despite the fact that you will have your own design:

The topic of baths has been raised more than once, and all because it is in such a place that a person can truly relax, relax and improve his health. Equipping your bath, you will need to take care of high-quality lighting. Below we will talk about how to make a lamp for a sauna and a bath with your own hands.

Baths are visited by many people, regardless of income, status and health status. Many of them dream of having their own steam room. Moreover, a skilled owner will not only invest in such a complex of funds, he will not hire expensive designers and craftsmen, but will be able to do most of the work himself. That is, we can say with confidence that such a structure as a bathhouse can be made and equipped with your own hands, and even hang bath lamps even more so, and it is not necessary to be an electrician.

Bath lamps

To begin with, before embarking on the work of creating lamps for a bath with your own hands, you should understand a number of nuances that in the future may affect the correctness of the work.

By by and large All of them can be described in three points:

  • You need to have experience connecting electric lamps, in particular lamps for baths and saunas.
  • You will need to choose fixtures with a sufficient level of security that will not be afraid of high temperatures and excessive humidity.
  • Next, you will need to make original lampshades, decorative screens and other decorations to create a design, for example, a ceiling lamp for a bath, and also combine them with the overall situation in the bath as a whole.

Due to the vastness of all topics, everyone can get information on the first point from the literature on the rules of working with electric shock in conditions of excessive humidity. The second point will be considered briefly below, and the third one will be considered in as much detail as possible.

Organization of lighting in the bath

During the creation of a technical project, it is worthwhile to devote enough time to development electrical circuit location of lamps for the Russian bath, switches and sockets (more details: ""). The priority, of course, is the location of the fixtures.

Almost all bath rooms are similar to rooms in a house or apartment, and everyone should know how the lighting will be organized in them. The lighting in the room or bathroom will match that in the washroom and rest room. Separately, it is only worth discussing the steam room - the principles of lighting in the bath in the steam room will be somewhat different.

The lighting system in a steam sauna or Russian bath must meet a number of criteria.

The main conditions are:

  • the lamp for the steam sauna of the bath should emit soft light so that a person in a relaxed state does not squint and feels comfortable;
  • the lighting in the steam room is chosen muted, leaving a slight twilight and allowing you to relax, since it is not customary to do any cosmetic procedures in the steam room;
  • in a steam room, it is better not to use overhead lighting, because Maximum temperature air is fixed exactly under the ceiling - it is optimal to place heat-resistant lamps for the sauna at the central or lower levels;
  • in order to avoid injury due to damage and failure of lighting fixtures, they must be protected with a protective screen or grate that will prevent direct contact with electricity in conditions of high humidity, and also will not allow them to be cut by fragments if the lamp accidentally breaks;
  • it would be useful to have lamps in a wooden bath, installed additionally near the font or barrel of water, at the doorway, and also above the shelves.

By adhering to these conditions, you can be sure that all people in the steam room are guaranteed to enjoy the steam room and not get any injuries in the process.

Moisture proof sauna lamps

To purchase really high-quality waterproof lamps for a bath, you should pay attention to a number of significant indicators.

It is very important to follow:

  • To ensure that the degree of protection of devices against moisture and coarse particles in accordance with international classification corresponded to values from IP 54 and more; such data, as a rule, indicate on the body or packaging of fixtures.
  • That the sauna lamp you have chosen is heat-resistant, that is, it can withstand high temperatures. As a rule, in various types saunas, the air temperature can range from 60 to 120 ºС, so it is better to choose the most protected electrical appliance. For example, in a Russian steam room, the temperature can reach 100 ºС, in Turkish baths, the heat resistance of the lamp should correspond to 150 ºС, and in the case of ceiling lamps, you need to pay attention to devices that can withstand 200-300 ºС. See also: "".

In addition, it is very important that the body of the heat-resistant sauna and bath lamp be securely sealed with silicone or rubber to prevent moisture from entering the device. It is optimal to choose equipment with LED or energy-saving lamps, which heat up much less than conventional incandescent bulbs.

Making a lamp with your own hands

In this section, we will consider, in fact, how to make a lamp for a sauna with your own hands. True, in this case, we are talking more about decorating an already finished industrial product than about assembling a complete circuit of an electrical appliance.

In particular, we will tell you how to make decorative grilles, protective screens or openwork lampshades. As for the lamps themselves, there may be various options– from fluorescent or LED to fiber optic. The choice depends only on the preferences and financial capabilities of the owner of the bath, however, if we talk about the price, then fiber optic devices are classified as the highest price category.

Decoration of the lamp with a wooden lattice

Considering the interior of any self-built bath, it is safe to say that they are very actively used various wooden elements, and not only the design of the walls or floor, but also the decor. In particular, if in the steam room all the walls, the ceiling and even the floor are made of some kind of wood, then it would be quite appropriate to place lighting decorated with wooden details in it.

By the way, the wooden lattice made by you will carry not only a decorative, but also a purely practical load - to protect the lamp from accidental damage. A wooden grate will make the lighting more subdued and diffused, will cast beautiful shadows and highlights on all surfaces, help you relax and turn away from the rest of the world. As a material for decoration, you can use the remains and trimmings after facing the walls and ceiling in the steam room, then all the elements of the interior will be in one color scheme and invoice.

However, if you want to complement the steam room with specific aromas, we recommend using larch or cedar wood for the manufacture of gratings. In addition, such a tree is also very durable.

Examples of the design of lamps with wooden gratings can be found in the photos attached to this material.

The structure of the lattice for the lamp implies the presence of such structural elements as a frame and small slats attached to it from above and below.

In the manufacture of parts, it is worth considering the following nuances:

  • the shape of the frame will be different depending on the placement and shape of the lamp itself; so, a wall lamp can be equipped with a semicircular or rectangular frame, and if the device is located in a corner, the base is made in the form of a triangle or trapezoid;
  • based on the size of the lamp, select the length of the rail for the lattice; all sharp corners are carefully ground and rounded to give the finished product a more perfect, finished look, as well as to ensure safe operation;
  • you can connect all the details of the structure to each other with metal screws, however, you need to fasten them with inside grilles so that nothing can be seen from the outside steel elements; this will ensure safety, since during the operation of the bath, the screws can get very hot and burn the skin.

In general, we can say that the slats are made based on what result you want to get. If you want to get a strict lattice, take rectangular planks of the required width and connect them in rows in parallel or cross with the letter "X". If you want to get a more elegant product, the slats can be made curly.

Simple convex or concave bends in the center (you can combine them by creating a kind of semicircular lattice) are able to make any person who has even the initial knowledge gained back in school. And if a person also has a sufficiently developed fantasy, then it’s a sin not to fulfill the bars of the lattices in the form of figures of living beings.

We make several of these gratings, and we can assume that the lamp in the steam room is ready with our own hands.

Diffusing screen as a decorative protection for the luminaire

The decorative grille refers to one of the types of finishing of the considered lighting fixtures.

For diffusing screens, as a rule, one of the following materials is used:

  • wood or bark;
  • strong and, at the same time, thin fabric (silk is suitable);
  • clay or ceramics;
  • plastic;
  • glass;
  • paper or cardboard.

In this case, however, the most acceptable material would be wood.

The choice fell on this material in view of the following requirements:

  • high hardness, because the screen should not only look beautiful, but also protect against shock;
  • the possession of a low heat capacity, that is, the material should not overheat, so as not to cause burns;
  • be easy to handle with your own hands.

A number of other materials can be used to compose elements of wooden gratings, or be part of lamps in other bath rooms, for example, rest rooms.

It is quite easy to build a screen for a lamp, the manipulations are not much different from those when creating a lattice. It is only necessary to attach a straight or curved wooden plate or bark plate with carved patterns to the base instead of slats.

Any hole shape can be made. Most often they are made in the form of African masks, images of the sun, fire, different colors and all sorts of silhouettes. Fortunately, on the Internet you can find a pattern for every taste, you just need to print it and transfer it to the template.

It is worth noting that the simplest type of screen can be a shelf or its back. Instead of a LED lamp, you can purchase a waterproof led strip and glue it behind the back board. The result is a gentle light directed in the right direction.

Above, we have considered two of the simplest options for hand-finishing bath lamps. They will definitely be enough to give a pair of uniqueness, so that friends and family will definitely be delighted with your talent. In any case, everyone will be able to relax to the fullest in such a pleasant atmosphere!

Choosing a lamp in the steam room

In order to correctly choose and buy a waterproof lamp for a bath, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with our specially prepared material. In this article, using the word bath, we will mean a certain collective image bath-sauna-hamam and dwell on their differences when necessary.

It is well known that LEDs that are so popular today require high-quality heat dissipation, so the use of conventional LED lamps in a steam room is impossible. The Center for New Technologies CNT-Group offers special models, both LED and light bulbs, with a sealed housing that can withstand temperatures up to 110 °.

However, even such LED lamps have their endurance limit, so if you buy lighting for public bath or any daily operated where lighting devices are exposed to heat every day for 8-10 hours a day, then only the option of a lamp made of ceramics or heat-resistant plastic with a ceiling and an E27 base for a conventional incandescent lamp or a similar halogen lamp is suitable for you. Such lamps are in our assortment and we will talk about them further.

If the purchase is intended for a private bath or sauna, then any of our products will suit you perfectly. However, it must be remembered that lighting fixtures should not be placed near the stove. Streams of excessively hot air will quickly render them unusable.

Why doesn't it make sense to spend a lot of money on buying lamps in the steam room? The answer is simple and it is based on the very specifics of such lighting - in a bath steam room or in a sauna, light should exist exclusively in the background! The luminaire must not be key element the interior and the light should not be hit in the eyes, no matter where you are and no matter how you turn around. It should shine as unobtrusively as possible, because you are completely immersed in hot air bath and all your thoughts and sensations are occupied only by this process.

Let's do a simple experiment. Can you remember at least one lamp that you have ever seen in a steam room? I guess the answer is no. Do you remember the chandelier in the theater you visited? Probably yes. And it is right! Because everything has its place and its priorities. The price of an LED waterproof lamp for a bath should always be reasonable. In which part there should be beautiful and, perhaps, memorable lamps, you will read further. After you have built a bath on the site, fill it with light.

Features of lighting in baths and saunas

The bath should be divided into four zones: three internal and one external. These will be a steam room, a shower room, a relaxation room and outdoor lighting for the bath. It is necessary to select lamps based on the characteristics of each of them. A separate approach to the choice of lighting in the bath will give the best result both in terms of comfort and convenience, and in terms of your safety.

Features of lighting baths and saunas completely depend on the characteristics of the places in which the lamps will be located. So...

Steam zone
Peculiarities:
The temperature regime is the highest.
Humidity is the highest.
Illumination is average.

shower area
Peculiarities:

Humidity is the highest.
Illumination is average.

Rest zone
Peculiarities:
The temperature regime is normal.
Humidity is average.
Illumination - medium, highest.

Outdoor lighting baths and saunas
Peculiarities:
The temperature regime is normal.
Humidity is the highest.
Illumination is average.

Consider the modes of temperature and humidity in various types of baths and saunas.

Russian sauna. For comfortable conditions steaming, the air temperature in the Russian bath should be about 70-80 degrees Celsius. At a humidity level of 70%, the temperature should not exceed 90°, but at a humidity of 30%, the heating of the air masses can reach 110°. These are difficult conditions not only for a person, but the lamp must also be ready for such an exposure regime.

Finnish sauna. Conditions in the sauna are characterized by low air humidity and high temperature. Use a heat-resistant light in the sauna. We will not dwell on who tolerates what conditions better, but we note that in a sauna a temperature of 80 to 110 degrees has a much longer effect on the room and its elements than in a bath. The humidity index will fluctuate within 10-20%.

Hamam or Turkish bath. Hamam differs fundamentally from the Russian bath in both temperature and humidity conditions. There will be no heat in the hammam above 50°C with humidity reaching almost 100% in the form of thick steam. Such conditions can be considered the most comfortable for a person. And not only for humans, but also for lamps, because it is not difficult to ensure moisture protection in modern lighting products, and the temperature regime here turns out to be quite standard.

Buy a lamp for a bath with delivery in Moscow

The maximum load on the bath lamp from the influence of the external environment is the steam room. Not every light source can withstand high temperatures, while maintaining all its properties. The degree of protection against moisture penetration should also be at the proper level, waterproof lamps for baths and saunas have an indicator of at least IP54. You can buy a lamp in the bath in our online store.

For the steam room the best light there will be light scattered by a special ceiling light, or reflected. wood finish walls will always help to make the light of any lamp as natural and pleasing to the eye as possible. Available models of corner lamps for the sauna and wall lamps for the steam room. Based on the foregoing, the most appropriate lamps for the steam room there will be the following options:

=> Special LED luminaire IP54 or IP65, temperature resistant up to +100°.

=> An incandescent lamp with a power of not more than 60 W or, better, a similar halogen lamp with a conventional base, placed in a special lamp with a frosted shade.

=> Combined variant of the two above, which, on the one hand, will make it possible to diversify the lighting scenario and obtain interchangeability, and on the other hand, if you want to reach the maximum temperature, it will make it possible to switch from LED lamps to halogen ones in order to save the resource of the former. You will need a two-button switch.

Note. It is impossible to use incandescent or halogen lamps with a power of more than 60 watts due to their strong heating. Such lamps also cannot be used without a protective cover, so as not to break, and if the lamp breaks, to avoid injury.

If, after purchasing a lamp for the sauna, you want to hide it behind a decorative wooden lattice, then you can make it yourself according to your own preliminary sketch, order it from a carpenter or buy it at the construction market or at the appropriate store. Buying an LED lamp for a steam room often means that there is no need for additional accessories.

Shower area characterized by high humidity. Modern lamps It is not difficult to protect yourself from this type of external influence. After the selected lamp meets the water resistance parameter, you will only have to decide on its design.

The shower room is the only place in the bath where you most likely should use cool white light with good enough illumination, for which you can also use two-gang switch. White light, along with running water, will allow you to tone up faster, as well as see yourself in the most appropriate lighting for this, admire a healthy glow and fix your hair.

The main choice here is also likely to be non-LED lighting. And the most important thing, before you buy a lamp for a bath, will be the correct and thoughtful arrangement of lighting fixtures.

The main requirements for lamps for steam rooms of baths and saunas are functionality and quality. But in the rest room and on the outdoor lighting of the bath building itself, you can fully give free rein to your fantasies. We definitely believe that lamps are excellent accessories for baths and saunas.

Rest zone is a place of complete comfort. How you feel during your vacation largely depends on your general impression from visiting the bath. Therefore, with the arrangement of the rest room, everything is a little more complicated. And we are talking not only about the location of the bar with soft drinks, although its illumination also needs to be taken care of.

In this room, light of different intensities, consisting of at least two lighting modes, can be very useful. When you just want to relax after a juniper or birch broom, it is advisable to turn on subdued diffused light, and if you want to read a book or chat with friends, the lighting should be brighter.

Given the fact that the rest room does not have critical modes, the choice of lighting fixtures can be based solely on your taste. However, compliance with basic safety requirements when placing lighting equipment is mandatory.

Due to the fact that most often the bath is visited in the evening, it is very important to complement the surroundings with the right outdoor lighting. Lighting the visor above the entrance, the very entrance to the bathhouse, as well as wall elements is not only an excellent design, style and atmospheric solution, but also important element safety and ease of movement. The choice of lamps for outdoor lighting of the house depends on the material from which it is built, the location of windows, height and other structural elements.

With the help of special lamps with a democratic price, installed from below and directed along the walls at a certain angle, you can very beautifully highlight and emphasize individual elements of the facade. Flood lighting can also be arranged with the appropriate selection of lighting fixtures and based on the canons of architectural design. And if paved paths lead to your free-standing bathhouse and it is possible to supply electricity, then it would be right to arrange the illumination of this path.

Equipping your own bath, sauna, you need to be very careful in choosing lamps for the bath, without which you can not do in the dark. For this type of premises, due to the special operating conditions, special lamps are produced.

In this article:

Types of lighting fixtures for the bath

  • Using incandescent bulbs
  • LED designs (LEDs)
  • Fiber optic lighting devices

The use of devices with incandescent bulbs

The case of such devices must be resistant to high temperatures, high humidity. To protect incandescent lamps from moisture, different types of sealing materials are used to ensure tightness between the device body and the ceiling. When purchasing lighting fixtures for a bath, it is recommended to pay attention to the safety class of the product, which must be at least IP56.

In lighting devices intended for a bath, incandescent bulbs are used, the power of which is not higher than 60 watts. With more power, they will heat up quite a lot, and the walls in the rooms, as a rule, are sheathed with wood materials that are prone to ignite at high temperatures. And in this case, they will already be significantly heated from the stove itself in the bath, so extra degrees can become critical.

LED lights

These are completely safe devices for a bath, which are highly reliable, economical, and also not afraid of moisture. The safety class of some LED models is IP65. This suggests that the product is not afraid of even a direct jet of water. The only drawback is the rather bright lighting, but with the right placement of such lamps, it automatically becomes a virtue.

Especially for saunas, LED devices (LEDs) are made with a control panel, with which you can change the color of the lighting, the brightness of the light flux.

Despite the fairly wide range of such products, you can’t call them cheap. But on the other hand, you can achieve the most unexpected effects, for example, beat colors, create a starry sky on the ceiling, etc.

Fiber Optic Lighting Systems

The use of optical type lighting devices is safe for any environment, since fiber optics do not conduct electricity, only light waves. Such devices for 12 volts can be mounted even at the bottom of the pool, while creating incredible effects.

The fiber can withstand temperatures up to 200 degrees. This makes it possible to install them in the bath directly on the ceiling. The soft light emanating from them contributes to the formation of a relaxed, cozy atmosphere in the room.

If we add ease of installation, long service life and economy to the list of advantages of such lighting fixtures, it becomes clear why they are in great demand among consumers today.

Requirements for lighting fixtures for baths

Since these devices have to work at elevated temperatures, special requirements are imposed on them during the production process. In this case, any lamp will not work, and the device itself must have moisture resistant characteristics.

When purchasing lamps for a bath, it is necessary to take into account:

  • According to current standards, lamps for baths and saunas are marked with IP symbols, which indicate the degree of moisture protection, dust penetration.
  • The symbols are followed by two digits: the first is from 0 (protection is completely absent) to 6 (the device is maximally protected from dust); the second is from 0 (no protection at all) to 8 (maximum protection of the device from moisture even after it has been immersed in water).

For rooms with high humidity, it is necessary to buy lighting fixtures with a degree of protection of at least IP44 (against splashes, drops). But the most effective option, guaranteeing protection against water, dust in full - a device marked IP65.

Table of degrees of protection of lighting devices by IP

Degree

protection

IPx0 IPx1 IPx2 IPx3 IPx4 IPx5 IPx6 IPx7 IPx8
No protection Falling drops Drops fall at an angle Spray Spray from all sides From all sides of the jet Strong water flow Immersion in water short term Fully immersed in water
IP0x No protection IP00
IP1x < 5 см IP10 IP11 IP12
IP2x < 1,25 см IP20 IP21 IP22 IP23
IP3x < 0,25 см IP30 IP31 IP32 IP33 IP34
IP4x Particles IP40 IP41 IP42 IP43 IP44
IP5x Dust partially IP50 IP54 IP55
IP6x No dust IP60 IP65 IP66 IP67 IP68

The luminaire must be resistant not only to moisture, but also necessarily to high temperatures. The device must function reliably in the temperature range - 20-130º. Today, 12-volt lighting devices have proven themselves well, having a ceramic case, which is characterized by increased resistance to high temperature conditions operation. This material also provides reliable protection from contact with electrical wires mounted inside the cartridge.

Layout of lighting devices

In the bath, lighting must be planned correctly. There should be no shaded areas so that the rest is as comfortable as possible for everyone present.

When purchasing lighting fixtures for a steam room, it is necessary to take into account the following points:

  • The arrangement of bath lighting involves the presence of special protective gratings (screens) on the lamps, which will not allow glass fragments to scatter if they break.
  • It must be remembered that the temperature in the steam room under the ceiling is quite high, and even specialized equipment will not work for a long time in such conditions.
  • Be sure to consider additional lighting for doors, locker rooms, shelves, etc.
  • There should not be a bright light flux directed at vacationers. It must dissipate.

For the organization scheme of the lighting system in the recreation room, similar requirements are imposed, as for other rooms in the house.

Rules for installing lighting fixtures in a steam room

The basic rule when arranging a lighting system for a steam room is not to install devices near the stove. In other areas it is possible, their location will depend only on the imagination of the owner. The most optimal option for mounting above the ceiling, but at the same time they should not interfere with bathing vacationers sitting on the top shelf.

Sometimes a waterproof lamp is installed in a corner due to rare use. This is also a good option. Horizontal lighting devices can be mounted on the border of the ceiling surface with the wall, a decorative corner screen can be formed, and an LED strip can be fixed to a non-combustible base.

In the Russian bath, you can mount any devices made of heat-resistant material, the base of which is made of heat-resistant plastic, aluminum or stainless steel.

In a Finnish sauna, it is better to install devices with a ceramic base, as others will fail much faster.

Lattices for lamps

If you want moisture-proof lamps for a bath not only to illuminate the room with high quality, but to be absolutely safe, ideally suited for design decision rooms, brought brightness to its interior, make lattices for them, for example, from wooden waste left over from building materials after finishing the sauna, bath. As a result, you will get a completely harmonious, solid picture.

If waste from finishing materials there is no left, you want to add pleasant aromas to the steam room, then it is better to make grates from cedar. larches. Pine can be used only if the contact of the skin of vacationers with the grate is excluded. The shape of the lattice will depend on the placement of the lighting device.

What should be considered when purchasing lamps in the sauna?

When choosing, mounting bath lamps, it is necessary to take into account the following points:

  • the possibility of installing electrical wiring;
  • room area, ceiling height;
  • the number of lamps, LEDs in the device;
  • light reflection coefficient;
  • maximum lamp power;
  • temperature of the light flux;
  • angle of direction of light from the lamp.

Therefore, you need to understand that not every lamp you like in terms of design can be bought when it comes to arranging a bath. First you need to carefully consider the layout of lighting devices in the premises, and only then select lamps with certain protection parameters for it.

The purchase of lighting devices that do not meet the operational requirements for saunas, baths, will lead to their rapid failure, according to the need for replacement.

The owner of a real Russian bath may think: does everything need to be done in it with a margin of thermal strength, as for a sauna? After all, in principle, it would be possible to save money if we take into account exclusively traditional bathing conditions for Russians ...

Russian bath: how does its condition affect the lamps?

But before we deal with the issue of savings, let's just go through the main characteristics of our national bath regime and see what requirements they put forward for steam room lamps.

An increase in air temperature automatically increases the perspiration of a person. This is ancient mechanism self-cooling of the body, which requires that the released moisture evaporate, taking with it the excess thermal energy. But In order for water to evaporate, the air needs to be dry enough.. The more water vapor is already in the air, the more difficult it is for water to evaporate from the skin (the air, as it were, is already clogged with other water molecules).

If water from superheated human body cannot evaporate, the body suffers from heat stroke. First of all, the cardiovascular system suffers.

So. Russian bath does not overheat a person, because the whole bath procedure is built on an excess of water vapor. Enough 40-60 degrees to steam with a light, that is, fine steam. We wrote a lot about this when we talked about stoves, if you are interested, read it.

Steam in a Russian bath is obtained from stones heated to several hundred degrees, therefore starting steam temperature above one hundred degrees. It rises to the ceiling where it forms a cloud, a steam cake. Here the temperature will be higher, but still not as high as in the sauna.

The characteristic vapor excess is quantified as 50-55% humidity.

It is clear that in such conditions, the electrician is more vulnerable to moisture than high temperature- 40-60 degrees are not critical for wire insulation, calculated, say, by 70 degrees, but high humidity makes higher demands on the moisture protection of electrical appliances, including lamps.

IMPORTANT! Yes, in fact, in the steam room, all electricity should be reduced exclusively to lamps, and switches, sockets, transformers, power supplies and wiring should be located exclusively outside!

In practice, the moisture protection of luminaires is reduced to ensuring their tightness. For this, they are used gaskets between the ceiling and the base.

ADVICE! The silicone gasket is considered the best for the duration of operation.

As for the influence of temperature, it can be reduced if the lighting is not on the ceiling, but on the walls, and better below the level of the steam cake, although this applies primarily to LED lamps or strips.

Varieties of designs

A large variety of designs in this case is not to be expected. This is due operating conditions. Read a lot of material about bath lighting, with an analysis of all the components.

All models that you find (or try to make yourself) will consist of a durable, moisture-resistant, heat-resistant base (the best in this regard is the base ceramic), inside which the cartridge is attached, as well as a cap that is screwed on from above, closes the lamp from splashes and scatters light through frosted (most often) glass.

Depending on whether how exactly is the cartridge fixed, the light bulb can either lie on one side of the base (this gives elongated oval or round, relatively flat shapes of shades, something like a cabochon, if you know this shape of cutting),

or be perpendicular to it (plafond - a protruding, elongated flask-cylinder),

or mounted at an angle, which repeats the previous form with one difference - the ceiling is tilted.

There is also an L-shaped design, in which the lamp is installed vertically in a cylindrical cap, some distance away from the wall due to the base.

The manufacturer can supply a standard cartridge E27, Suitable for incandescent, LED and halogen lamps. And can put non-standard, for example, E14- this moment must be controlled and, when buying, specify whether the lamps that you were going to put are suitable for this particular lamp.

The plafond can be transparent or matte, be made from glass or plastic. Plastic, of course, does not give such fragments as glass, but its use at high temperatures undesirable. This is where almost the only moment of choice for a Russian bath is concluded - at its temperatures, plastic is quite cost-effective to install.

IMPORTANT! In all other respects, the lamps for the steam room are sharpened for moisture protection, which is just essential for a Russian bath.

Why is it better to take heat-resistant ones for a Russian bath?

Once again, we list what makes the lamp heat-resistant:

  • ceramic base;
  • glass cover (borosilicate glass);
  • RKGM or PRKS wire in organosilicon insulation.

However glass and ceramics they also do not react to water in any way, they do not deteriorate from it. That is, the properties overlap, and you can take a heat-resistant lamp for a steam room without much thought. Is it to save on plastic, if it really will be cheaper, by the way. Well, on the wires, putting a wire with PVC insulation.

But we will give one argument that will make even this economy unnecessary. The fact is that there are not so many devout traditionalists in relation to the Russian bath, basically habit rules, who is accustomed to what by family, social circle ... And this can be very different from the above figures for temperature and humidity.

In addition, many opt for iron stove, which, without lining and other manipulations that reduce its heat transfer, is simply unable to create the conditions of a Russian bathhouse.

Therefore, the real heat in the steam room, which the owner sincerely considers Russian, can be like in a sauna. And this moment of conviction cannot be changed in any way. Therefore, there is no need to be smart, sharpening the electrician under impossible (for a steam room with an iron stove - iron impossible) conditions.

What can you buy in the store

On sale you can find the most different models from hundreds before several thousand rubles. Not always the base is made of ceramics, not always the ceiling is made of borosilicate glass. Some models are clearly not intended at all to put in a steam room, but they can fit on the porch or in the dressing room, some are good for washing.

We repeat - for a steam room you need a simple waterproof luminaire with a protection class of at least IP44. For tightness, it has a gasket made of rubber or silicone. The foundation won't be made neither wood nor plastic. A transparent or matte part, if it is made of plastic, then some temperature guarantees(check with the seller).

If you don’t want to deal with all the assortment that will be offered to you in the store, first decide on a budget - Russian lamps for a steam room in a bath are several times cheaper than foreign ones. Some of them are made as analogues of the most popular foreign models.

For those who decide that the margin of thermal resistance of lighting will not hurt him at all, you can read our review of sauna models made in.
