Angel rose floribunda description. Rose Angelica: amber favorite of flower growers

  • 16.06.2019

Rose Angelica (Angelique) was bred by foreign breeders and presented to flower growers in our country 30 years ago. The author of this hybrid tea variety and its description is the famous German rose grower Reimer Kordes.

The variety is widely used for forcing, and increased resistance to powdery mildew determines its popularity among domestic and foreign growers.

Varietal characteristic

Rose Angelica is one of the popular hybrid tea varieties with abundant flowering and a pleasant, persistent aroma. The bush is powerful, upright, up to 1 meter high, with dark green large leathery-type leaves. Flowers of a bright salmon-orange hue, 110-120 mm in diameter, Terry, consisting of about 45 petals, located singly on strong and rather long shoots. The fully blossomed flower has a very original shape and a twisted central part. The buds are large, aligned oval, 50–60 mm high. Rose Angelica belongs to the re-flowering varieties. Flowering is observed from the first decade of summer to late autumn.

For cultivation of the variety, it is recommended to allocate areas protected from cold winds, with slightly acidic and loose soils. The rose has an average resistance to powdery mildew and black spot and good winter hardiness, which makes it suitable for cultivation in most regions of our country.

How to plant a hybrid tea rose (video)

Features of irrigation activities

One of the most important conditions for the successful cultivation of Angelica roses are correct watering that promote multiple and abundant flowering. Insufficient irrigation often leads to poor development of rose bushes and shredding of flowers.

Watering must be done weekly. Newly planted or transplanted plants require more frequent and abundant irrigation to facilitate root engraftment. The frequency and volume of irrigation may vary depending on the soil and climatic conditions of the cultivation region. A good result is obtained by mulching the soil, which allows you to retain moisture at the roots of the plant.

When watering, you must adhere to the following recommendations:

  • at the stage of active growing season, roses of the hybrid tea group need to be provided with weekly irrigation (at the rate of a bucket of water for each plant);
  • in too hot and dry weather, the bushes need to be watered about 2 times a week;
  • with the onset autumn period and cold snaps, watering should first be reduced, and then stopped altogether;
  • at the stage of final preparation of the rose for winter, it is advisable to make one plentiful water-charging irrigation (25–30 liters of water per plant);
  • it is best to water the plants in the early morning or after sunset: this will allow the foliage to dry and minimize the risk of fungal infection;
  • for irrigation, it is necessary to use only warm and settled water;
  • after irrigation, it is recommended to carry out surface loosening of the soil, which prevents the formation of a soil crust, which blocks the access of air to the root system.

Feeding rules

Competent and timely is very important for its proper growth and development, as well as abundant and long flowering.

  • The best for feeding Angelica roses are complex mixtures of potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen (1: 2: 1).
  • As fertilizers, you can use organic matter in the form of bird droppings or manure, diluted with water and infused for several days.
  • It is best to apply compost for bushes in the fall: this will allow the fertilizer to decompose during the winter and enrich the soil with useful substances.
  • Composting also helps to increase the looseness of the soil.
  • The first feeding with complex fertilizers is carried out from mid to late April, a couple of weeks after the plant is covered with foliage. In this case, it is desirable to use "Cytovit" and "Zircon", containing all the substances necessary for the growth and development of roses.
  • The second top dressing is carried out from mid-May to the first decade of June and is designed to stimulate re-flowering.
  • The last feeding should be carried out in the last decade of August or early September (no later). It allows you to slow down the growth processes and facilitates the preparation of the aerial part and the root system of the plant for winter frosts.

It should be remembered that a lack of nutrients can lead to plant diseases, but excessive feeding can have a detrimental effect on it.

At different stages of the growing season, as well as depending on the age of the rose bush, growers can carry out several types of pruning to improve the appearance of the plant and ensure the optimal development of the ornamental culture:

  • Long pruning is used when planting the Angelica rose, as well as after removing the winter shelter in the spring.
  • Medium pruning is used after the plant has faded. It stimulates the growth of new shoots and promotes the formation of a bush.
  • A short cut is carried out during spring planting.
  • Combined pruning helps to improve the appearance of the bush and enhance its decorative effect.
  • Sanitary pruning is necessary for the prevention and control of diseases by removing all pathogenic microflora affected, weak, dry and too thin shoots.

Rose refers to continuously blooming roses. The flowers are pink with a crimson reverse, deeply cupped. On the stem there are 5-10 flowers, with a weak aroma. The size of the flower is 5-6 cm. The flowers do not open completely, they are in tight racemes. The height of the bush is 100-150 cm and the width is 100 cm. The bush is abundantly covered with shiny, green foliage. Very resistant to diseases: powdery mildew, black spot. The rose is also resistant to rain, flowers are not damaged. Great for growing in any climate, as single or group plantings. Hardiness Zone (USDA) - the fifth zone.

Park rose (grandiflora) ANGELA belongs to the group of park (grandiflora) roses, which are distinguished by abundant and long flowering, like floribunda roses, and have the shape and size of the flower. as hybrid tea, but at the same time they surpass both in terms of winter hardiness and strength of growth. Vigorous bushes 1.5-2.0 meters. Park (grandiflora) roses, like all roses, are demanding on the place of growth. Roses need rich, well-drained soil, as roses have a very deep root system. The location should be sunny, preferably sheltered from the winds. The roses of the plant are large enough, so it is not recommended to thicken the plantings. A rose is planted in May, before planting it is recommended to store the seedling in a cool place, preventing it from drying out, or immediately after the purchase, plant it in a deep pot and transfer it to open ground in May. Roses require shelter for the winter, which must be well ventilated in winter to keep the rose from drying out.

The seedlings are sold with a closed root system. The roots of the seedling are in the ground, which is wrapped in paper and packed in a plastic bag. The package, in turn, is placed in a cardboard tube with a plastic bottom. The tube contains a photo of a rose, a description of the variety and a scheme for planting a seedling. When planting, a tube and a plastic bag are removed from the root system, the paper should not be removed, since it protects the earthy ball from destruction and therefore reduces root injury. The seedlings have a well-formed stem, at least 0.5 cm in diameter at the grafting site, 2-3 main shoots and 2-3 main roots, at least 20 cm long. For seedlings, SMITH IDEAL and LAXA rootstocks are used. The shoots of the seedling are covered with wax, which does not need to be removed; the wax prevents the seedlings from drying out and does not interfere with the awakening of the buds. Careful and thoughtful packaging allows you to keep the seedlings in excellent condition until they are planted in the ground. It is important not to allow overdrying and excessive moistening of the seedling earthy clod.

Rose Angela, whose photo is in front of you, is very beautiful and unusual. Its popularity continues to grow. Rose Angela (Angela) is also called Angelica. This wonderful variety was bred in Germany, it belongs to the group of floribunda roses. "Abundant flowering" - this is how the name floribunda is translated, which is completely true, since roses belonging to this group are simply doused with flowers. This variety was obtained by crossing polyanthus and hybrid tea roses. It is because of this that this group of flowers has a very diverse color of buds and excellent resistance to disease and frost.

Rose Angela: description

Rose varieties Angela low bush. The height of a plant depends on what climate it is in. In the middle lane (4th climatic zone), the Angela rose reaches one meter in height, the branches of the bush are erect. In warmer climates, a rose bush can grow up to two meters.

Leaves are glossy, bright, green, medium-sized. Angela begins to bloom early, at the very beginning of summer, flowering is long, the last flowers are pleasing to the eye in September. The buds are beautiful, semi-double, bowl-shaped, up to 5-6 cm in diameter. The flowers are light pink at the base, closer to the edges, the petals are much darker, collected in lush inflorescences in several pieces.

Angela rose is appreciated not only for its beauty, besides this, it has many other advantages. The plant is highly resistant to diseases such as powdery mildew and black spot. Angela is not afraid of wind or rain. The buds do not fade in the sun, they have a faint delicate aroma, similar to that of apples. The flowering of the bush is abundant and long-lasting.

Planting and leaving

Rose Angela requires well-prepared soil with drainage when planting; the place for the rose bush must be selected so that there is no stagnation of air. Plant young bushes better in spring, it is recommended to deepen the budding site by 7-8 cm.

Rose loves the sun, so the "place of residence" must be determined, taking into account the wishes of the queen of flowers. It is advisable to plant rose bushes in a sunny place with permeable and fertile soil. As mentioned earlier, the air should not be stagnant, the place with a pink flower bed should be well ventilated.

Water the roses sparingly as the soil dries out. Twice a season, the bushes need feeding. The first time at the beginning of the growing season in spring, the second time before the flower buds bloom.

Before the first leaves appear, the plants are pruned. It is necessary to remove broken, frozen and old branches with a brown sheath. To prevent the bush from thickening, branches are cut that grow inward and intersect with each other. If the bush is tall, then, in addition to those listed, all other branches are cut off by one third. This rule does not apply to low bushes.

Angela looks beautiful both in group plantings and in singles. You can make a beautiful one out of the bushes hedge... Rose looks great next to evergreens conifers and against a background of purple, blue and white clematis.

Preparing for winter

Rose Angela is a relatively winter-hardy variety. In the southern regions (fifth zone), the plant does not need to be covered for the winter. In colder climates (the fourth zone) rose bushes must be piled up to a height of 20-30 cm before the onset of winter. It is better to make a heap not from the ground, but from compost. The top of the plant also needs to be wrapped with covering material or burlap; for this, you can also use spruce branches or brushwood.

Rose Angel Wings Reviews

I was flattered by the fact that the rose begins to bloom already in the first year with small roses, and in one bag both double and simple flowers, pink and white, can be caught !! I will definitely try again for a year!

planted this spring, after 2 months it has already given the first flowers, pink small, 5 petals. Out of 10, 5 ascended, but 3 died. There are 2 left, both are blooming. Potted houses. Advise, can you drop them out on the street? Or let it be at home for now? (region - Ural).

Rose bushes

with double flowers did not really grow, but this does not spoil the impression of the variety. bushes grown from seeds have been wintering without shelter for several years, do not get sick, bloom profusely.

      Rose scrub Claire Austin: planting and care

      White roses have always stood out prominently from other varieties of roses. They represent light, beauty and innocence. There are very few truly worthwhile varieties of white roses. This is due to the fact that, unlike their red counterparts, they are very difficult to breed. Even the world famous English roses of David Austin could not boast of a variety of white varieties. But that all changed in 2007, when David managed to bring out the pearl of all his collections - the white rose Claire Austin, which he named after his daughter.

      Description of the variety

      David Austin is a world famous English farmer who turned the flower world upside down. From his light hand the world saw new varieties of roses, which became known as "English roses".

      Crossing old varieties of English roses with hybrid tea roses, he brought out a large number of new varieties that are incredibly popular all over the world. He gave them different names, which fully reflected their character and beauty. But only one variety was honored to bear the name of the dearest person in his life - his daughter Claire.

      Claire Austin is rightfully one of the most beautiful varieties white roses. It belongs to the scrub roses, which are distinguished by the large size of the bushes and abundant flowering.

      The rose bush of this variety is distinguished by its spreading. Claire Austin is most commonly grown as a bush. Moreover, its height will be 1.5 meters, and its diameter will be about 2 meters. But it can also be grown as a climbing tree. In this case, due to the support, the bush can grow up to 3 meters in height. The photo below shows how beautiful Claire Austin looks when grown with support on an arch.

      As you can see in the photo, Claire Austin's bush is very leafy. But due to the slightly drooping arched shoots, it retains its elegant shape. Leaves of this variety english rose have a bright green color with a slight glossy sheen.

      During flowering, bright green bushes are diluted with large flowers of incredible beauty. On each stem of this wonderful rose, from 1 to 3 large flowers can form at the same time. At the beginning of its blooming, Claire Austin's flower looks like a regular rose with a bowl-shaped shape and tightly fitting petals. But when fully opened, the flower exposes numerous double petals and becomes more voluminous. Claire Austin's flower color varies depending on the flowering period:

      • at the very beginning of flowering, the roses have a soft lemon color;
      • in the middle of flowering, they fade to a snow-white color;
      • at the end of flowering, Claire Austin's roses become beige-pinkish.
      • The photo below shows the color of flowers from the beginning of flowering to its end.

        Like all of David Austin's creations, Claire Austin has a fairly strong and persistent scent. It harmoniously combines the rich aroma of tea rose and notes of myrrh, vanilla and heliotrope.

        Unfortunately, these flowers do not have very good rain resistance. During precipitation, they do not open, so they have to be helped manually. But this must be done with extreme caution, trying not to damage the delicate petals.

        This disadvantage can be offset by Claire Austin's re-blooming, which allows flowers to be admired throughout the summer.

        In addition, this variety has good immune characteristics. To get sick with such common diseases as powdery mildew or black spot, Claire Austin's rose can only in unfavorable years from the point of view of weather. This quality allows you to successfully grow a rose of this variety in the middle lane.

        Despite the fact that this rose belongs to unpretentious varieties, in the first year after disembarkation, she will need special attention. At this time, it will only settle down in a new place, therefore, without proper care, it can get sick and die. To prevent this from happening, we will tell you about the rules for planting it and further caring for it.

        Her landing begins with choosing a suitable place. Like other David Austin varieties, this variety tolerates partial shade. But its exceptional beauty can be seen only when disembarking in a sunny place.

        Claire Austin is very unpretentious. Of course, ideally it is worth providing it with light soil. But if this is not possible, then this rose will adapt to the soil that will be.

        Claire Austin is best planted in the fall, but no later than October, when the first frosts begin. Autumn planting good in that over the winter the bushes will build up a good root system, and not start up new shoots. It is also possible to plant in the spring months, but for this, the soil for the rose will need to be dug up and fertilized with humus in the fall.

        For a purchased seedling, a pit with dimensions of 50 * 50 * 50 cm will be enough.In order for the seedling to root better, before planting it must be soaked for a day in any root formation stimulator, for example, in Kornevin or Heterooxin. Main condition successful landing varieties are the deepening of its grafting. It should be submerged 10 cm in the ground. After the seedling is correctly placed in the prepared hole, you can fill in its roots. For this, the soil from the pit is used with the addition of compost or rotted manure. At the end of planting, the soil should be lightly tamped and watered.

        It is necessary to water the English rose Claire Austin only as the topsoil dries up. As a rule, under normal weather conditions, the watering frequency will not exceed once every 5 days. Watering should be done in the evening with settled water or rainwater. In hot weather, watering should be increased using water heated in the sun. If Claire Austin is grown as a bush, then 5 liters will be enough for one plant. If this rose is grown as a climbing rose, then more water will have to be spent on irrigation - up to 15 liters per bush.

        Rose watering is done all summer, until the end of August. If the summer is rainy, then it is worth stopping watering earlier than August - in the month of July.

        Pruning your bushes is an important step in caring for them. Moreover, it should start in the first year after disembarkation. In the spring, not earlier than April, when the buds have already woken up and swelled, and the first shoots have grown by 5 cm, the bush must be thinned out, leaving only 3 - 4 of the strongest shoots. Any broken, old or small shoots should be removed without regret. They will only draw strength from the plant, restraining its growth and flowering. Once every 5 years, it is necessary to cut out all the stiff shoots, allowing the young shoots to germinate.

        In addition, all sections are made 5 mm above the kidney and only at a 45 degree angle.

        In order to provide the Claire Austin variety with abundant and lush blooming with large roses, the shoots must be shortened by half their length. If you shorten the shoots by a third of the length, then the bush will literally sprinkle with buds. After wilting, the flowers must be removed. Otherwise, re-flowering may either not come, or come, but not soon.

        You need to fertilize the Claire Austin variety at least three times over the summer. Fertilizers for dressing are used depending on the needs of the bushes:

      • before flowering, Claire Austin can be fed with nitrogen-containing fertilizers;
      • before blooming rose buds, complex trace elements and organics are required;
      • before harvesting for the winter, the bushes should be fed with potassium and phosphorus.
      • If humus or organic matter was added to the planting hole when planting a rose, then feeding should start only from the second year of growth.

        Claire Austin's English rose hiding place is an important part of caring for her. In our climate, without this, the rose will simply freeze over the winter. Therefore, it is very important to pay increased attention to this aspect of care.

        It is worth starting to prepare roses for wintering in early October. To do this, the bushes are first huddled, and then tilted as close to the ground as possible. After the onset of the first frost, absolutely all leaves and buds must be removed from the shoots. This is done to prevent the development of fungal diseases during the wintering of the bushes. After that, the shoots are covered with spruce branches and non-woven fabric.

        In this form, the bushes hibernate until spring. Before hiding roses for the winter, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the video:

        To date, Claire Austin is the best white rose among all bred English varieties... Her planting and care will not require special knowledge and efforts from the gardener.

    Floribunda rose, which means "profusely blooming", is a real decoration of the garden, besides, it is not difficult to grow this species. There are many varieties bred today, and one of the most popular is the Angela variety. This flower boasts wonderful decorative appearance, docile at the same time. We will find out what the Angela rose is, in what conditions to grow it, how to care for it.

    Rose Angela is a short bush-shaped floribunda. But the milder and warmer the climate in which the shrub is grown, the higher it can grow: in a cool climate, only a meter, and in a warm climate, by two. The variety, like many other floribundas, was bred by German breeders.

    External description

    The rose boasts wonderful bright foliage in a delicate green hue. The size of the leaves is medium, but their number is quite large. There are few thorns on the shoots.

    Bloom

    The flowering period starts quite early and lasts a long time. Literally from the very beginning of summer until mid-September, the Angel rose pleases with its decorative buds.

    The flowers deserve a separate description: they have a regular bowl-like shape, semi-double structure, a delicate light pink shade. The diameter of one flower is only 5-6 cm, however, due to their huge number, the bush looks almost completely pink (see photo).

    The pink color of the buds is uneven: it is lightest at the base of the petals, but darkens as it approaches the edges. The buds are not located singly, but are collected in small inflorescences. The aroma of the plant is very pleasant, reminiscent of apple.

    Other features

    This plant boasts not only a surprisingly decorative appearance, but also a high resistance to diseases, including fungus. The rose is especially resistant to black spot and powdery mildew: the main enemies of flowering garden shrubs.

    In addition, the rose is not afraid of winds or rains. Even after a heavy downpour, bright buds will not lose their shape and color, and after the wind they will remain in their places.

    Application in design

    Floribunda Angela is ideal for growing both in group compositions and in monoplants. In addition, the plant is often used to form a graceful hedge in the area.

    As for the neighboring plants, Angela will look the most advantageous against the background of coniferous specimens. If we talk about undersized flowers, then blue, white and purple clematis will be the best neighbors for floribunda. The following plants will also be good partners: delphinium, aster, monarda, narrow-leaved lavender, willow loosestrife, catnip.

    Note that the rose can also be used for making bouquets: it stands in the cut for a long time and well.

    Growing conditions

    We will find out where it is best to plant this rose and what conditions it needs for a prosperous existence.

    Location and lighting

    This pink variety loves the sun, so you need to choose the right place for planting. In the shade, the plant, of course, will not die either, however, lush flowering in this case cannot be seen.

    But although sunlight is necessary in abundant quantities, the rose should not be in direct sunlight throughout the day. In this case, there is a high risk of rapid wilting of delicate buds, their burnout, and burns are possible. The best choice there will be an area where the sun shines brightly in the morning or evening, and at noon the plant is provided with light shading.

    Choose an open area and better - on a small hill. It is not worth planting a flower shrub in a lowland, since stagnant water in the soil is harmful to its roots.

    Temperature and humidity

    Rose Angela needs a moderate air temperature: well, however, it tolerates both a short-term drought and not very prolonged cold weather. For the winter, it requires shelter, and in case of intense heat in summer, it is recommended to spray the shrub.

    The plant tolerates light drafts without problems, it is not at all afraid of them. The gusty wind, however, is not needed by the plant. The rose should be protected from strong wind from the north side, and avoid planting it at the corners of buildings, in the aisles between buildings.

    Soil composition

    The soil in the flower bed should be well-drained and moderately fertile. The soil should contain both sand and clay, be moderately moist rather than dry. If the soil is poor or dense, clayey, add humus to it: this fertilizer will loosen the soil and make it more nutritious. Prepare a place for planting a rose in advance by digging up the soil and adding compost or manure to it.

    Sapling selection

    When buying a seedling of this rose, pay attention to the presence of at least 2-3 lignified shoots extending from the trunk. The bark of the plant should be free from damage and rot, have a greenish tint. The roots of the seedling should be ripe and developed, branched.

    How to care

    Let's find out what kind of care this rose needs for lush flowering and vigorous growth.

    Watering

    You need to moisturize the rose moderately: only after the top layer of the soil has dried. But during the period of active growth and development of water, the rose needs a lot: these periods fall on bud opening, flowering, the formation of new shoots and foliage. After the first phase of flowering, watering should also be especially abundant in order to stimulate the early onset of the second phase.

    Water the plant in the evening or morning: but not at noon. In the latter case, it is very likely that the shrub will get burns from the sun's rays hitting the water droplets.

    Loosening and mulching

    Floribunda will grow well only in soil that is sufficiently permeable and loose: therefore, a loosening procedure is necessary. However, one should not go deeply: the roots of the rose often lie close to the surface. Experienced gardeners loosen no more than 10 cm deep.

    When caring for a plant, mulching can be of great help. A layer of mulch will help keep the roots moist for a longer time, get rid of weeds and make loosening almost unnecessary. As mulch, you can use hay, decomposed dry manure, peat, fallen leaves.

    Top dressing

    The shrub needs additional nutrition for successful development. The optimal frequency of top dressing is twice a season. For the first time, fertilizers are applied in the spring, at the very beginning of the growing season, the second - before flowering.

    Pruning

    The bush needs both sanitary and formative pruning. The procedure is usually carried out in the spring, before the first leaves begin to appear. Sanitary pruning consists in removing branches that have been frozen over the winter, diseased, old and broken. In addition, the procedure should include the removal of crown-thickening shoots growing inward.

    With formative pruning, the branches are shortened by about a third of the length. However, if the bush is not tall, the shortening is proportional to the lesser extent.

    Shelter

    Angela is quite a winter-hardy variety, however, in our climate, winters are too frosty to allow the rose to spend them without shelter. In the south of the country, you do not need to cover if the plant is already mature.
