When you need to close the flaws of the walls or just update the interior, you may encounter the problem of choosing a closet. This is a multifunctional design that not only plays the role of a niche for storing things, but also helps to hide a visually unfavorable corner or part of the wall covered with scratches, cracks, etc. If you do not know how to choose a closet, the tips and tricks presented in our article will help with this.

How to choose the right material

Most often, sliding wardrobes are made from fine fractions and compressed wood chips. Both types of raw materials are in the middle price segment and are characterized by increased strength. Chipboard and MDF are considered budget materials from which cabinet furniture is assembled. On sale there are cabinets made of solid wood, but more often they are made to order.

Basic materials for the manufacture of doors

Chipboard

Chipboard is conditionally divided into several varieties. Main differences:

  1. Strength. For the manufacture of furniture, chipboard of group P2 (category 2) is used, and P1 (category 1) is used as a building material.
  2. Structure. There are 2 types: fine-structured (M) and conventional (O) plates. In the furniture industry, M is used, it can be laminated.
  3. processing method. Cabinets are made from polished (W) chipboard sheets. They, in comparison with unpolished (NSh), are more amenable to lamination.
  4. Security. In residential premises, it is permissible to install cabinet furniture made of plates of class E0.5 and E1. They allow the permitted rate of formaldehyde, which can be released into the air.

The raw materials used for the manufacture of chipboard are completely natural. Sawdust, shavings fall under the press. Resin and temperature effects allow you to convert a crumbly mass into dense sheet. Chipboard lends itself to any machining(cutting, grinding, milling and laminating).

MDF

Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) for furniture facades is not inferior in quality to chipboard. The material is moisture and heat resistant: it does not swell when liquid gets on it and can withstand temperatures up to 240 °C. MDF boards are immune to fungal bacteria and mold.

The production of the material is carried out in the following sequence:

  • wood shavings are dried;
  • impregnated with resin or other bonding compound;
  • let under pressure.

MDF is more expensive wood- particle boards, thanks to the use of modernized manufacturing technologies and the environmental friendliness of the finished material. The surface of the plate is not laminated, it is subjected to staining.

Physical characteristics of MDF:

  • withstands any load;
  • not affected by mold;
  • moisture resistant.

On the surface of the plate, a pattern similar to natural wood is visible.

Dimensions

Cabinet parameters are selected individually. In height, furniture happens:

  • large (up to 2.65 m);
  • standard (up to 2.5 m);
  • small (up to 2 m).
:
  • height - 2–2.65 m;
  • the distance between the shelves is 15–20 cm;
  • base (height) - 8–10 cm;
  • width - 2.5–3 m;
  • shelf width - 65–80 cm;
  • rod length - up to 1 m.

The optimal depth is about 60 cm. Retractable rods will provide you with additional space, convenient for storing clothes. The door width of the classic model is 140–145 cm.

Which doors are best

Only installed on cabinet and built-in cabinets, the presence of side-sliding doors saves space. They are divided according to the type of material:

  • from plastic;
  • from natural wood;
  • glass, mirror

Doors for cabinets made of plastic are lightweight and move apart without much effort. They do not let in sunlight and foreign smell. Solid wood models are considered the most environmentally friendly and durable - a wardrobe with such doors can even stand in a nursery.

The fully mirrored surface of the door will visually enlarge the room. When decorating with glass and mirrors, one should not forget about elementary security measures - they must be covered protective film, which, with a strong blow, will protect against abrasions and cuts.

Profile selection

Door opening systems fall into 4 main categories:

  1. Framework. The profile is made of aluminum or steel, it has a trough shape. There are dividers on the doors.
  2. Frameless. A budget option no profile. Wheels are attached to door panel, so the service life is short.
  3. Roller. The suspension is fixed on the door. On the "rails" the roller glides silently.
  4. Radius. Profile of non-standard shape with a semicircular bend. Requires individual development depending on the model.

The hinged extension system must have strong fasteners that can withstand big weight doors. The framework is responsible for this. The floor mount does not give an additional load on the roof, but "takes" 10 cm of depth from the cabinet. It is preferable to choose a closer fully automated.

Internal structure

Depending on the future placement of the wardrobe and personal needs, it is necessary to determine the components of the "stuffing". According to the internal structure of the shelves, the filling of the wardrobe is selected. It includes:

  • rods;
  • hangers;
  • drawers (lower and upper);
  • shelves.

It is preferable to store bulky things on the mezzanine, clothes and bedding - on the middle shelves. Drawers in most cases are located at the bottom, it is convenient to store shoes and small accessories in them.

Bars with coat hangers for jackets and fur coats should be placed at an accessible height in order to easily get clothes. You can install them manually required size. Compartments for shirts, T-shirts should be separate from coat hangers.

Choose a color

Choose the design of wardrobes to match the shade of the rest of the furniture. The decoration of walls, ceiling, floor plays an important role in choosing the color of the proposed model. Transitions from one tone to another can be smooth and concise or contrast sharply with each other.

For the hallway

The closet in the hallway will allow you to store shoes, casual and seasonal clothes, as well as various little things in one place. The corner model will accommodate shoe care products, umbrellas, bags, accessories (sunglasses, neckerchiefs). To visually expand the room, doors can be decorated with mirror panels.

For the living room

Before buying a wardrobe in the living room, be sure to measure the height to the ceiling. If it is stretched indoors, then the distance between it and the cabinet should be 10–15 cm. Modern tendencies furniture fashion offer the installation of models with partially open shelves and a niche for the TV-zone. Behind the doors you can remove towels and pajamas for guests.

For the bedroom

The wardrobe in the bedroom can be built-in or cabinet. The design should be roomy, but not bulky. This can be achieved by increasing the depth of the internal space. To visually expand the room, there should be mirror non-volume inserts on the cabinet doors. In the bedroom it is better to buy furniture in non-aggressive tones.

Find out how to choose a wardrobe and not lose money. At the end, a nice bonus awaits you - a free checklist that will help you make the right choice.

1. What material to choose a cabinet

The head can ache not only from the choice of the cabinet, but also from it. We are talking about chipboard products. An important indicator of this material is the degree of formaldehyde emission. Simply put, the amount of harmful substances in the stove. According to their content, chipboard is divided into classes: E0, E1, E2. The lower the number, the less chemistry. In Russia, GOST 16371-93 is in force, according to which the use of E2 class plates in household furniture is not allowed. Formaldehyde is very volatile and can be felt at low concentrations. So that your head does not hurt at least because of the furniture, avoid products with a smell.

When choosing, look at the edge

The edge prevents the spread of formaldehyde. It should cover all the ends of the plate. It does not matter what class of chipboard is used. The edge is of two types: PVC (PVC) and melamine. PVC edge is better. It protects well from moisture and is resistant to mechanical stress. Manufacturers use thicknesses from 0.4 to 2 mm. The edge of the edge is visible and there is no decor on it. Therefore, a two millimeter edge may be too noticeable in the product. But the thickness of 1 mm represents a balance between aesthetics and practicality. Smaller thicknesses at visible ends are not used.

This is what it looks like PVC edge- select it.

Melamine film is more capricious in operation. Therefore, conscientious manufacturers allow its use only on invisible ends. Whether you choose a wardrobe for a bedroom or for a children's room, remember that no matter what edge should be on all elements and on all sides of the plate. This is really important.

The plate can be covered with laminate, veneer, acrylic film or plastic, glossy or matt varnish. Laminate and veneer should not flake off the board. Evaluate the quality of their fit at the corners and make sure there are no bubbles on the surface. We have already talked in detail about materials that give the effect of a glossy surface in our article.

The coating of the slab must fit snugly to the base of any shape.

Sidewalls - a guarantee of strength

When choosing a wardrobe in the bedroom, pay attention to the sidewalls. They provide strength to the entire cabinet. Everything is simple here: a thickness of 16 mm is bad, 18 mm is good, 25 mm is excellent. In addition, European fashion now gravitates towards greater thicknesses. The structure of chipboard also affects the strength of the material. There should be three layers. Two outer ones made of small chips and an inner one made of large chips. The outer layers are denser. Their task is to cope with mechanical influences. The inner layer is looser. It is needed to hold the fittings. Everything said about the material of the sidewalls applies to any element of chipboard: a shelf, a partition or a facade.

We choose the right chipboard: two dense outer layers and a looser inner one are visible at the end.

Legs are installed in the lower end of the sidewalls. If you are not 100% sure that your floors are even, then the legs should be adjustable in height. From the outside there should be no fastening elements or technological holes. Modern fittings allow not to spoil the appearance of the product. Attention to such trifles will allow you to choose a beautiful wardrobe.

Modern fittings are not visible from the outside. The photo is an example from the past.

Rear walls: subtle, but important

The rear walls differ from each other in materials and methods of fastening. A hardboard wall nailed or bolted to the back is a cheap option. Over time, it may go away. Dust will seep into the resulting gap. To fix this problem, you will have to make a lot of effort: get all the contents and move the cabinet away from the wall.

The second option is fiberboard, which is inserted into the groove. This option is slightly more expensive than the previous one, but much better because the back wall will not fall out. Behind it there is a space in which manufacturers place stiffeners to strengthen the structure.

The last option is the back wall of chipboard. With fittings, it is tightly pulled together with the sidewalls. This option is the most durable, but also the most expensive.

1) the back wall of fiberboard is nailed, 2) the back wall of fiberboard is inserted into the groove, 3) the back wall of chipboard is fastened with fittings.

If the back walls consist of two parts, then they are often fastened plastic profile, and often not in the color of the back wall. There is a connection with reinforced tape on the back side. Sounds unreliable, but in reality this way is better. The adhesive tape fastens the parts of the wall well and is not visible. When choosing any furniture, remember that the fewer fasteners you see, the better.

2. Choosing a wardrobe means choosing the interior

Durability and beauty are important, but we must not forget about the main function - the storage of clothes. In a good closet, it does not wrinkle, any item is easy to get and hang in place. According to the materials, we distinguish two groups of filling: 1) shelves and partitions made of chipboard, 2) metal baskets, rods and holders.

The simplest - shelves

There is no closet without shelves. They differ in thickness and method of attachment. A shelf with a greater thickness is, of course, stronger. However, this thickness will be of little use if the shelf rests on unreliable shelf supports. Another thing is when it is pulled together by fittings with a sidewall and becomes an internal stiffener.

The fastening of the shelf pulls it together with the sidewall, the cabinet receives additional strength.

Inner drawers

Have you seen the chest of drawers in the closet? Of course, no one will put it there. So figuratively called the block of internal boxes. They are increasingly being used to organize closet space. By choosing this solution, make sure that the soft close function is available. She will get rid of unnecessary noise when the husband takes his socks in the morning and pushes the drawer.

The internal block of drawers is a chest of drawers hidden behind the facade of the cabinet.

More about filling

In addition to the usual bars for hangers, you can install lifts (pantographs), baskets for shoes and linen, ties and trousers. When choosing these options, pay attention to the quality of materials and their processing, the strength of the connections, the smoothness and evenness of the movement of moving parts.

To prevent things from wrinkling, use specialized internal filling.

Let there be light!

It is difficult to find the right thing in the dark - you need a backlight. Now it is increasingly represented by LEDs. Their low power consumption saves you money. There are two options for interior light: surface-mounted lamps and recessed lamps in a shelf or sidewall. In a good cabinet, it turns on automatically when the facade is opened. The quality of the LEDs, the reliability of switching and other technical details are unlikely to be evaluated in the store. Look at the appearance of the fixtures and the quality of installation, check the on and off when the facade is opened. This is probably all that can be done.

Built-in LED lighting is a good choice.

3. Which is better to choose cabinet doors

The frame and internal filling are responsible for the functionality of the cabinet, and the facades are responsible for the beauty. They are made from laminated chipboard or MDF, which is painted and varnished, veneered or covered with fabric. MDF gives more options for decorating the facade: using inserts and milling handles, for example. To do this in a material thinner than 22 millimeters will not work, and a plate of this thickness is quite heavy. But weight is not a problem if at least five hinges are installed. The soft close feature is standard for a modern closet, but it's best to make sure it's there before buying.

When choosing, pay attention to the gaps between the facades. High-quality hinges allow you to achieve a distance between the doors of 2-3 millimeters. If the width is more than 6 millimeters, then the manufacturer cheated. Large gaps look ugly and let a lot of dust into the cabinet. To combat dust, a flashing is also used - a strip of soft plastic. It is installed on one of the doors of a double-leaf cabinet and closes the gap between the facades.

The flashing closes the gap between the facades and protects from dust.

4. How to choose cabinet color

Buy only blue cabinets. This is a joke, of course. The choice of a particular color depends only on your preferences. Therefore, it makes no sense to advise a specific color for all cases. The color of the cabinet installed in a niche is determined by the facades. If the cabinet is against the wall, then do not forget about the color of the outer sidewalls. Time is the same brown furniture passed: some manufacturers offer a wide palette of colors, others are ready to paint in any shade of your choice. In general, there should be no problem with matching the color of the cabinet to the interior.

For modern cabinets, manufacturers choose a neutral color for the interior. It does not depend on how the cabinet looks from the outside, and is always the same. Pay attention to the correspondence of the shade of the edge and the surface of the chipboard. Due to the fact that the edge and laminate are made by different manufacturers, their colors may not match. On shelves and partitions, this is especially annoying, because they are always in front of your eyes. It is bad when the back wall has a different color. The finished look of the cabinet can only be obtained if all the elements of the internal filling do not have noticeable differences in color.

Internal filling in one decor is now fashionable.

5. If one cabinet is not enough, choose a group

When one cabinet for all things is not enough, the buyer selects cabinet groups - compositions of several products installed together. There are two principles of their construction: the combination of individual modules and the principle of "endless cabinet". In the first case, you choose ready-made cabinets and the order in which they will stand in the room. To give the structure strength, they are fastened to each other with special ties, for the installation of which it is necessary to additionally drill the sides of the cabinets. This method is slowly becoming obsolete. Now the principle of "infinite closet" is in vogue. Its essence is to attach one internal set to another through a common sidewall. And you can do this ad infinitum.

The principle of the "endless cabinet" is very simple: elements are attached through the inner sidewalls until the space runs out.

From the outer sides of such a set of kits, outer sidewalls with a finish finish are installed, and the inner sidewalls have the same finish as the rest of the internal filling.

1) cabinets are attached to each other and fastened with ties, 2) connection through one sidewall creates a solid cabinet.

In fact, the principle of an endless cabinet is going to be one cabinet, and not a composite cabinet group. Its design is much stronger than bonded modules. In addition, the use of one sidewall allows you to reduce the gap between the facades.

6. How to choose a cabinet by size

The dimensions of the closet are closely related to its placement in the room. Often it occupies the entire width of the wall or is installed in a niche. The depth of all manufacturers will be approximately the same - about 60 centimeters. It has to do with ease of use. The height varies from 2 meters 10 centimeters to 2 meters 40 centimeters. A mezzanine is often placed on low cabinets to increase storage space; in high cabinets, this place is already rationally involved. The standard width of a single-door cabinet is about half a meter, a double-wing cabinet is about a meter. When you need to pick up a large closet in the bedroom, it will not be possible to optimally fill the free space with meter and half-meter cabinets. So good producers offer larger and smaller modules, not just standard widths. And very good ones can also shorten a serial product by the desired amount. In this case, choosing a cabinet by size is not difficult.

7. Choose functional cabinets

Modern cabinets are no longer a set of rectangles. In pursuit of beauty and convenience, manufacturers develop modules that are different in form and functionality. Attached shelf is useful for storing small things. The TV module solves the problem of accommodating this family friend in the bedroom. Radius elements soften the severity of cabinet lines. They look spectacular along the edges of the cabinet group. When there is not enough space, a closet combined with a bedside table is useful - a niche for magazines, books and a telephone is obtained; you can put cosmetics in the drawer; the rest is a regular closet.

The side shelf keeps small items within easy reach.

There is not enough space, you need a closet and you want to watch TV. So we need to put it all together. The rotating TV panel makes viewing comfortable.

Another way to save space is to embed a nightstand in a closet.

Bonus: the promised checklist is your assistant in choosing a cabinet

In order not to remember in the store what to look for and what to ask the manager, we have prepared a checklist. It lists the selection criteria and their possible options: from left to right from worst to best. At the first stage, we collect data: we go shopping and make marks in the checklists. We will analyze later.

Data collection:

  • Print out several copies of the checklist.
  • Go to the store, don't forget a brighter marker.
  • At the top, write down the data by which you can return for the selected product (name shopping center, store, brand section).
  • If necessary, make notes that will help you remember the appearance of the cabinet or take a picture of it on your phone.
  • Evaluate according to the given criteria - circle the option that matches the most.
  • If it is possible to write down the cost, then do it.
  • After filling out one checklist, go ahead and fill out the next for the next cabinet. At this stage, you can not waste time analyzing the results.

The checklist helps to fix the characteristics of the cabinet.

When you are happy, go to a place that is pleasant for you. We have finished the mechanical work, then we will choose a cabinet.

The design of the bedroom should be approached in a special way, since the flaws and shortcomings of this room will hit the quality of your rest. In order to get rid of clutter, it is recommended to install a spacious and stylish sliding wardrobe in the bedroom.

Sliding wardrobe for the bedroom - features and benefits

Why is it better to choose a compartment system for a bedroom:

  • Noiselessness. This is a very important indicator in a room designed for sleeping;
  • Possibility to plan the internal content yourself. Another plus that qualitatively affects the capacity and functionality;
  • Plenty of decor choices. Add photo printing with an amazing panorama of nature on the doors. This will help you relax.
  • Space saving. With other models, you will have to install a lot more furniture, and no one has canceled the meter limit. You can plan inside a place for a TV.

The device and types of sliding mechanisms for compartment doors

Thinking about how to choose a sliding wardrobe in the bedroom, decide on the advantages of this door system.

It consists of:

  • Top and bottom frames. Needed to securely fix the rollers in one plane. During installation, they are attached to the side panels and are always hidden behind the guides;
  • 2 guides (top, bottom). Needed not only to support roller carriages. The upper one limits the vibrations of the doors when they move. It is supplied with deep U-shaped grooves, into which the upper edge of the wings enters. Most often, the load on the top rail does not fall. The bottom has a rounded relief. The sashes move along it and she gets the lion's share of their severity;
  • Rollers (upper, lower). The main task of the roller at the top is to keep the sashes in a vertical state. There is practically no load on the carriage. But the bottom is supplied with bearings that provide better mobility and reliability. Must be very durable. Usually larger than the top ones. Antennae stoppers are added to the design;
  • asymmetrical profile. They border the vertical part of the door. Replaces external handles and other fittings.

The type of mechanism is also important:

  • Mounted. The only option with the top stop. Noisy and often falls. Very bad not only for the bedroom, but in and of itself. Requires considerable effort to move the valves. There is only an upper rail, ceiling mount;
  • Suspension. Somewhat better, but no problems either. The load is divided approximately in half, which also causes distortions of the doors. Both rails are attached to the frame from the inside;
  • With side profile. The door becomes stiffer, which certainly facilitates its smooth and smooth running. The system is afraid of collisions with obstacles. Jamming much less often;
  • Framework. The profile is superimposed on the sash along the entire perimeter, fixing it to the deflection. Adds weight, so the rollers need extra strong (Teflon). The most reliable method is with the bottom stop.

Types of designs of sliding wardrobes in the bedroom

Embedded

Among the large number of types of sliding wardrobes in the bedroom, built-in ones occupy a special place. They completely lack a frame frame, which, as necessary, is replaced by false planks. The option requires custom-made production with careful measurements of all parameters.

There are several types:

  • In a niche. Perfect appearance, but will require a number construction works niche design. Only after that do measurements of all parameters outside and inside the cavity;
  • Into the corner The most economical method in terms of space. Will lose a little in terms of capacity. It is more difficult to design the doors correctly;
  • All over the wall. The room must be large enough. All performance indicators are top notch. It is possible to mount the facade on both sides. So you will not only facilitate access to things, but also be able to create an original partition. Relevant for studios.

Frame

If you are too lazy to bother with independent planning of a built-in wardrobe or it seems that it is too expensive, then choose a frame sliding wardrobe in the bedroom. them in in large numbers offered ready-made. It remains only to assemble and place along any desired wall. The body is assembled from the upper and lower horizon, sidewalls and rear wall. The last step is to install the intended filling option.

The standard thickness for all parts is 16 mm. If you plan to store heavy things, then you can pick up materials with a thickness of up to 22 mm. This will eliminate subsidence and deformation of the shelves and frame. Since all the details are most often cut from various types wood boards (chipboard, fiberboard, MDF, chipboard), then you should take care of the cut. The porous structure of the material is prone to moisture absorption. This can cause breakage and swelling of parts.

A timely glued furniture edge will save you from such troubles:

  • Melamine coated paper. The method is cheap but unreliable. It is easy to stick it yourself. It is enough to warm up with an iron and press it to the saw cut. But, she will not cope with the main task, because she herself is afraid of water. In addition, it quickly pricks, exfoliates and rubs. Requires varnishing after application. So you can extend her life;
  • PVC. Very strong, durable. It burns badly. Rather rigid, which makes it difficult to install. For these purposes, you need special equipment or melting adhesives;
  • ABS. Safe for humans, soft plastic made from a mixture of several polymers at once. It cuts well, serves for a long time, does not emit toxins even when heated. Of the minuses - an impressive price tag per linear meter;
  • profiles. Made from plastic. If this is a P-shaped contour, then it is simply put on the edge. For mounting a T - shaped, cutting a special groove is required. great way with a long service life;
  • Acrylic. A transparent convex tape is pasted over with a patterned film from below. The result is the effect of the volume of the image. Rigid and durable. Not afraid of water, household chemicals and shocks. Pretty expensive.

What forms are wardrobes for the bedroom

The appearance of the facade of the wardrobe for the bedroom not least depends on its variety:

  • Wall mounted or straight. It has a standard rectangular shape;
  • Angular. Diagonal (triangle), trapezoidal (truncated honeycomb), five-walled and with contours in the form of letters G or L are distinguished;
  • Radius. It can be semicircular (outer radius) or sunken (inner). Looks good in the interior and separately. But a special chic is obtained by combining them. This is how you can design the facade in the form of a smooth wave.

Internal filling of sliding wardrobes in the bedroom - types of storage systems

The efficiency of filling the wardrobe in the bedroom depends on the competent combination of all its elements:

  • Crossbars. These are retractable bars for placing hangers. The more of them in the closet, the less you will encounter ironing. For jackets or shirts, a height of 1.4 m is enough. For dresses and long jackets, it is better to increase the parameter to 1.7 m. If there is enough space, then equip your wardrobe with a special lift. Such a bar allows you to move it in height with fixation at the desired level;
  • Boxes. They can be of any size and are also preferred with rollers. If desired, they can be replaced with mesh baskets;
  • Shelves. Straight lines are suitable for things and clothes. For shoes, inclined ones are preferable. It is better to make them more often. Sections that are too large cause things to pile up;
  • Trouser. Many hangers in one frame;
  • Office for small things. Allows you to store belts, ties and jewelry in order;
  • Hooks. Suitable for robes.

The less empty space inside, the more optimal the filling.

The device and options for decorating facades

There are several features of the facade style:

  • Whole sashes. The door is cut with the given parameters from a single sheet;
  • Slotted. Provide for the insertion of a small decorative element(openwork mesh, forging, glass);
  • Framework. The sash of reduced dimensions is bordered on all sides with a profile made of another material. Textured plastic or polished aluminum profiles are quite capable of becoming an independent decoration. The design looks like a photo frame;
  • Composite. They can be assembled from materials with different textures. Fragments of the desired shapes are combined into a panel using a thin fixing profile.

The following rules will help you correctly calculate the number of doors. It is better not to make the door already 50 cm. Also, do not swing with a width of more than 1 meter. Anything that goes beyond the limits complicates the process of the system. In addition to traditional particle boards, the facade can be decorated with:

  • Mirror. Instead of the usual silver, choose a tint with shades of bronze, graphite, greens. This will bring originality to the design. You can also apply a matte or colored pattern on it. If money permits, you can opt for a complex mirror mosaic;
  • Glass. This fragile material has spawned a number of original ways decoration. The stained glass window looks great. True glass is needed for this special. Next, a film pattern is applied to it with the selection of each segment with a thin contour. But, you can choose a simpler option. Milky (acid-etched), colored, frosted or patterned. All variations are able to add zest to the situation;
  • Aerography. The original modern way of painting, which has become cramped on cars. You will need special equipment. Looks amazingly natural
  • Perforation. Part of the sash or its entire surface is covered with through slots according to the template. It looks airy and original, but gives access to dust in the inside of the cabinet;
  • Polymerization. The surface of the material is covered with a layer of hardened durable polymer. Especially relevant for loose and fibrous boards such as chipboard. Allows you to immediately process the edge. There are postforming (monotone) and softforming (two-color).

Styling wardrobes in the bedroom

A sliding wardrobe is a very versatile and convenient piece of furniture that will find its place in any room - even in the bedroom, even in the hallway. However, here a natural question arises: how to choose the right wardrobe for your room? In order not to make a mistake with the purchase, consider the little secrets of choosing such furniture.

1. The form. Consider which wardrobe suits you best - a separate cabinet wardrobe or a built-in wardrobe.

A free-standing wall cabinet has its own shape - a frame: walls, ceiling and bottom; such furniture is not built into any niches. This cabinet cabinet is more aesthetic from the inside, it can be moved to another place. A significant disadvantage of this type of cabinet is that it occupies a rather large area and requires indentation from the walls during installation, which is not very suitable for small rooms. In addition, cabinet cabinets are somewhat more expensive than built-in cabinets.

On the other hand, a built-in closet is more economical in terms of space occupied. It can be placed in separate niches of the room. Often, the walls of the room and the flooring serve as a frame for it, while the built-in wardrobe can be “fitted” to almost any room. Among the minuses is the relative fragility of the structure and the impossibility of moving from place to place. In addition, the built-in closet should not be placed right next to the wall, which is finished with drywall.

2. Door opening mechanism. Pay attention to the mechanism of opening the sliding doors of your wardrobe. In this aspect, two types are traditionally distinguished.

  • Roller. The sliding wardrobe door is built into a special metal frame and moves along the groove on standard roller guides. This method is more common, cheaper, but, accordingly, it is less reliable. Due to the ingress of a foreign object or a careless strong blow, the rollers of the cabinet may slip out of the grooves, the door will break.

  • Monorail. The rollers in the cabinet move along a special monorail. Such cabinets are more expensive, but the grooves are not clogged with dust or foreign objects. The door is anti-slip. The monorail mechanism is much more reliable, although more expensive.

3. Roller material. Be sure to specify the material from which the roller system is made. This greatly affects the life of your cabinet. The best choice is metal wheels. The “medium” option is plastic rollers with a special PTFE coating (Teflon). Finally, the worst is the wheels with plain plastic(these won't even last a year).

4. Spaciousness. If you are already buying a closet, then consider the needs of your family - if there are a lot of things, then it is better to purchase a more spacious closet with a view to the future. If a lot of things are not planned, then it makes no sense to install too large a closet.

5. Sliding compartment profile. By it they mean the design of the cabinet - a metal frame, a system of guides, grooves, etc. This design can be made from different metals. Today, sliding systems are usually divided into steel (stainless steel) and aluminum profiles.

  • Steel profile. These systems are more common and cheaper. Steel profiles are very durable, reliable and strong. But they produce more noise and somewhat "pull" the cabinet door, creating a decent load on the fittings. In addition, not all materials for finishing cabinet doors are suitable for steel profiles.

  • Aluminum profile. Aluminum structures are more expensive, but they look more elegant, neat and non-standard. These systems are thinner than steel profiles, thanks to which you will have much more opportunities when decorating the door facade. In addition, aluminum profiles are silent. True, there is one significant minus here - aluminum structures under heavy load will last less - 5-8 years, while steel frames are almost for life.

6. Door front material. Finishing materials, from which cabinet doors are made - a large variety, so here it is already to your taste. Doors can be made of chipboard, veneer, rattan, various types of mirrors, patterned and frosted glass, bamboo, etc. The same goes for the wide variety colors. Here you can advise you to sit well over the catalogs and choose the most suitable option for you.

7. Location. This detail, as well as finishing options, is also desirable to think over in advance. For example, decide for yourself whether these will be solid doors or with a mirror, as they will also look different for different rooms. Specify in which room the wardrobe will stand.

  • So, the “mirror” built-in wardrobe looks best in the hallway, visually expanding the space of the room (just don’t put it in front of the front door). Also for the hallway are good wardrobes with many internal departments- shelves, drawers, etc.

  • For the kitchen, the so-called modular sliding wardrobes are very good (moreover, both built-in and wall-mounted). Modular furniture is a kind of constructor from individual elements of furniture, which will allow you, if necessary, to easily change the interior of the kitchen. If you are planning mirror decor, it is better to choose frosted glass.

  • For the living room best choice- This is a closet, which consists of a system of shelving. Some of the shelves can be open, others can be covered with opaque doors or decorated with frosted or transparent glass.

  • For the bedroom, wardrobes with mirrored doors are suitable. They visually expand the space of the room. But, as in the case of the hallway, it is not advisable to put them with a mirror to the bed. In general, the decor of the closet doors in your favorite bedroom can be different, up to self-painting or pasting with photographs. This question is up to you.

  • In children's rooms, the best option is modular built-in wardrobes, especially the so-called transforming wardrobes, which allow you to easily change the location of the shelves.

8. Door leafs. When choosing furniture, evaluate the width of the sliding cabinet doors. Remember that it is best if they do not exceed 100-120 cm, otherwise it will be very inconvenient to use the closet.

9. Evaluation of internal drawers, shelves, rails, etc. Analyze the "inner world" of the cabinet - its convenience and functionality. For example, drawers may not be simple, but the so-called "full extension", when they can be pulled out completely. Think about it, maybe you need a pantograph, thanks to which clothes are located in the closet in two levels with the option of lowering the upper “floor”. Specify the distance between the shelves - it usually should not be less than somewhere around 30-35 cm, otherwise it will be too narrow. The depth of the shelves traditionally reaches a maximum of 60-70 cm, more is inconvenient. Think, maybe you need special nets for shoes or very convenient retractable baskets for clothes. As for the rods for clothes, traditionally they are “under a raincoat” (long - up to 150-160 cm) and for a “t-shirt” - up to 100-120 centimeters. This, like other “additional options” for internal content, can also be checked with the seller.

10. Manufacturer. When choosing a seller, you need to follow certain "rules of caution":

  • Find out how long the company is on the market (better - at least 5 years);

  • Analyze reviews about the company on the Internet, if possible - check with friends who have already ordered a wardrobe;

  • Look at the prices on the market for similar wardrobe models from various sellers, prices can vary greatly;

  • Check if the company has its own central office;

  • Be sure to specify the cost of the so-called additional services (installation, delivery, assembly, etc.) - they can reach up to 20-25% of the final amount;

  • Buy furniture only "with a guarantee";

  • Find out if the company has its own machine tool production - sometimes the size of the company can say a lot;

  • If it's just a store-warehouse of finished furniture - check for sales volumes;

  • When purchasing a cabinet to order - ask for the staff of the company. If the company employs at least 4-8 measurers, this is normal, but if 1-2 people are “both a loader, and a driver, and a consultant, and a measurer, and a carpenter” - this is not for you.

That's all! As you can see, there is nothing difficult in choosing a wardrobe! Good luck with your purchase!

Sliding wardrobes have long won the recognition of customers: a well-designed storage system easily accommodates the wardrobe of the whole family, and sliding doors save space. The design transforms the interior, visually expands the space and can hide the curvature of walls, pipes and niches.

Configuration

Sliding wardrobes can be divided into built-in and freestanding. Built-in structures are used if you need to use the niche provided for by the layout, literally merging with the wall and without burdening the situation.

A free-standing straight closet is a classic solution for a room of any shape and size. Located along the wall, a direct storage system unloads the interior from bulky furniture, leaving the center of the room free.

Functionally, a free corner in the room can be used L-shaped wardrobe. This design consists of two straight modules interconnected by an end element.

A corner triangular or trapezoidal wardrobe will help organize a mini-dressing room. It takes up more space than the classic corner, but holds a lot more things. The design may not have side walls: in this case, the filling elements are attached directly to the wall, and the door guides are fixed on the ceiling and on the floor.

Relatively recently, radius wardrobes with rounded facades and guides appeared on the furniture market. Doors in them can be wavy, concave or convex. Streamlined shapes visually correct the space, smoothing the corners.

Dimensions

The width of the closet is limited only by the capacity of the room and the volume of the wardrobe. The minimum suggested by the manufacturers is 80 cm.

The optimal width of one door leaf is 50 - 80 cm. Sliding doors with a width of more than 100 cm are too heavy, over time they deform the metal rail system and can break them. The most convenient option is when an independent vertical compartment is hidden behind each door. So at any time you can access a specific shelf.

Height budget wardrobe from chipboard is limited to 270 cm - this is the length of the standard wood board. If you need a model with large dimensions, the manufacturer can visually "build up" it with the help of decorative false panels. The height of wooden cabinets can be any.

The minimum possible depth of the wardrobe is 40 cm. Models with a depth of 40 - 60 cm are equipped with retractable or stationary transverse brackets. Hangers with clothes are hung on them parallel to the back wall. When choosing, you need to make sure that the width of the opening where the bracket will be located is 50 - 55 cm or more. The internal filling of any model, regardless of the guide system, will be recessed 10 cm inward. This place will be occupied by metal rails and doors.

The classic bar-crossbar is installed at a wardrobe depth of 60 cm or more. If you plan to hang outerwear on hangers, the remaining 50 cm of space may not be enough for a bulky coat or jacket, so the recommended depth of the wardrobe with a bar is from 65 cm.

Filling

The classic filling of the closet in the hallway is a rod / bracket and horizontal shelves. It is recommended to provide a mezzanine - off-season clothes and shoes are removed there, freeing hangers. At the bottom of the cabinet are placed baskets and shelves for shoes, located at an angle.

Use of drawers and baskets on roller guides in narrow room, for example, in a corridor, can be difficult. Before buying, you need to make sure that with the drawer extended to the stop, there will be at least 60 cm of free space for passage. If there is an excess of space, it is recommended to use retractable structures in the internal filling. It is convenient to put small items and accessories in them: belts, umbrellas, gloves, hats and scarves.

Design and lighting

The body of the cabinet is made of laminated chipboard or wood. There are many more variations of facades. They can be made of the same material as the cabinet body, in color or contrast with them, can be decorated with rattan, artificial or natural leather, colored film, sandblasted pattern, glass.

If the main light in the room is not enough, several additional lamps can be installed in the closet. Halogen or LED lights may be mortise or overhead. Mortise sources are built into the visor of the cabinet. Overhead do not require complex installation and are attached with clips. Doors can be illuminated led strip around the entire perimeter, or only along the edges, from below or from above.
