How to choose a faucet hose?

How to change the hose on the mixer - step by step instructions

Suppose we are faced with the task of changing a Grohe faucet in the kitchen or bathroom, all the necessary plumbing equipment has already been purchased. Of the tools for this purpose, you will need a gas key (you may need two pieces) and a fum tape.

We tell you how to replace the Grohe mixer, this is done according to the following algorithm:

Shut off the water supply. If this is not done, repairs may be required, both for you and for the neighbors below.
The old device is carefully pulled out; for this, it is necessary to unscrew the eyeliner from the kitchen faucet. Don't use too much pressure to avoid damaging the thread.
If a sink faucet is mounted, we fix it on it (for a bath, it is mounted on special racks). Please note that some branded faucets have a special nozzle on the inlet with a mesh that acts as a filter, do not forget to install it before twisting the inlet.
We wind the fum tape on the thread, after which the underwater hoses should be tightened.
If a bath faucet or a kitchen faucet with a pull-out watering can is installed, then we wind the adapter onto the spout and connect the supplied hose (for the watering can) to it. Wherever there is a thread, we use fum tape.

And in the bathroom, given that the services of plumbers are expensive, and this operation is technically simple and does not require any skills. When installing a new plumbing fixture, you usually have to throw away the old kitchen faucet hose, which often loses its tightness over time or after dismantling.

In addition to ordinary rubber, high-quality eyeliners use tubes made of modern EPDM elastic material - produced by by chemical means elastomer, which is a peroxidally cross-linked ethylene-propylene-diene-rubber. Due to its high physical and chemical parameters (resistance to a wide temperature range and neutrality to most aggressive chemicals), the EPDM tube ensures a long service life of the entire product.

The outer shell of the sleeve is made up of thin woven threads, the main material of which is aluminum or more expensive stainless steel, and cheap galvanized steel is much less common.

The main advantage of flexible hoses with metal reinforcement is affordability, they are classified as budget goods.
The disadvantages of braided liners include the satisfactory reliability of their inner rubber tube - over time, it loses its elasticity, becomes brittle, cracks appear on the shell and the sleeve begins to leak.

Polymer

Water pipes from polymer materials(cross-linked polyethylene, silicone, polyvinyl chloride) are often used in shower systems for attaching watering cans, unlike analogues in a metal corrugated pipe, they do not scratch the surface of plumbing equipment -,. To increase the strength inside the polymer tubes, a metal spiral or a hard cord made of synthetic threads is often located.

To connect mixing devices, polymer hoses are used much less frequently and usually in kitchen models from foreign European manufacturers. A bellows liner is a corrugated (transversely compressed) thin-walled 0.3 mm stainless steel pipe (AISI 304 grade) with connecting fittings at the edges. However, the latter has a completely different design - its outer shell is made of spirally wound stainless steel (a similar design for shower heads), inside which is an elastic tube made of rubber or silicone.
