Diversify the diet will allow an original and simple dish - squid with sour cream and carrots. This is prepared very quickly and easily. To begin with, it is worth preparing the main components. To prepare such a dish, you will need:

  • 600 g squid;
  • 2 large carrots;
  • 2 onion heads;
  • 3 large spoons of sour cream;
  • vegetable oil;
  • bunch of parsley and dill;
  • ground pepper, black is best;
  • salt;
  • a few cloves of garlic.

Squid preparation

To make squid stewed with onions and carrots tender, you need to properly prepare it. Do not defrost seafood in the microwave. It is best to get it out of the cold in advance. The product should thaw at room temperature. After this, the carcasses must be cleaned of the film. To do this, squid should be doused with boiling water, and then cooled in water. Cover the container with a lid and simmer its contents for 3 minutes. After that, sour cream must be added to the dish. Bring the contents of the pan to a boil and simmer for another 3 minutes. At the end, add chopped garlic and herbs to the dish. The components should be thoroughly mixed, and then remove the pan from the heat. If the finished dish seems a little dry, then during the stewing process, you can add a little water to it, preferably warm, or more sour cream.

How to serve

Squid stewed with onions and carrots should be served hot only. This dish goes well with neutral side dishes, such as rice or boiled potatoes, ground to a mushy state. It is recommended to pour each serving generously with sour cream sauce obtained in the process of preparing seafood with vegetables.

Step 1: prepare the squid.

I prefer to take unpeeled squids, because it is very easy to clean them yourself and you will be sure that this is not done by harmful chemical means. So, squid carcasses need to be thawed, for this, put them under a stream of cool running water. As soon as the ice glaze melts, feel for a thin chitinous plate with your fingers and pull it out. Remove the skin like a film, gradually pulling it off the squid carcass.
Lay the clean squids on a cutting board and cut them into thin rings with a knife.

Step 2: Prepare herbs and garlic.



Put parsley and dill in a colander and rinse several times with warm water, shake to remove excess moisture. Then lay clean, fresh herbs on a cutting board and chop with a knife. And you can do it with special kitchen scissors.

When you fry the vegetables enough, without ceasing to cook, pour the squid rings into the same place. Add black ground pepper and salt, simmer everything together for more 3-4 minutes. Don't forget to stir.


After the amount of time required for cooking, add sour cream to the squid with vegetables and mix the contents of the pan again properly. Bring the sour cream to a boil and cover with a lid, simmer the dish in this form for another 2-3 minutes.


After the specified time, add chopped greens and pieces of garlic to the pan. Stir, bring the sour cream to a boil again and remove from heat. Squids with sour cream and carrots are ready, you can start serving.

Step 5: Serve squid with sour cream and carrots.



Squids with sour cream and carrots are served only hot. It is best to add a neutral side dish to them, such as boiled potatoes or rice. Drizzle each serving liberally with the sour cream sauce that has gathered in the bottom of the pan.
