RZD refund for an electronic ticket. Can I return tickets purchased online?

  • 20.10.2019

Sometimes there are situations when you have to refuse to travel by train. The problem arises - what to do with unused tickets and whether they can be returned so as to compensate for their costs at least partially. Russian Railways, like most of the world's carriers, offer several solutions to this issue. In the article, we will consider all possible options for returning a ticket, and find out how to do it correctly.

So, there are two ways to return a Russian Railways ticket:

  • via the Internet - on the Russian Railways website;
  • by visiting the ticket office of the railway station in person.

How to return an electronic ticket of Russian Railways via the Internet?

Returning a ticket via the Internet is the fastest and easiest way to resolve the issue, but certain restrictions are imposed on it. They are related to the method of registration and the time of departure of the train. In addition, the rules are slightly different for domestic and international routes.

You can return a ticket via the Internet for a domestic train if:

  • the control coupon was not registered, that is, the ticket was not issued at the box office or terminal. In this case, the return is possible at any time before the departure of the train;
  • electronic registration has already been completed, but at least an hour is left before the train leaves the first station of the route;

For the return of tickets for international routes, the rules are as follows:

  • You can cancel an unregistered ticket at least 6 hours before the departure of the train;
  • if the e-ticket has been registered, then the cancellation of the trip is possible at least one hour before the departure of the train from the first station of the route.

By the way, one should not confuse the first station of the route with the landing one. You need to count the departure time, when returning the ticket, from the first station of the train route, and not the stop at which you were supposed to have a landing.

The ticket cancellation process itself looks something like this:

First of all, you need to go to Personal Area on the RZD website. It is not difficult to do this. In the upper right corner of the screen, click "login" and enter your credentials.

We go to your personal account and go to the "my orders" menu. Select the required ticket and click "request ticket status" under it. Its status will be displayed below, and to the right, the "Issue a refund" button. We click on it, thereby completing the return operation.

The money will be returned to the card with which the ticket was purchased.

This ticket refund option can be used if it became known in advance that you would have to cancel the trip. Otherwise, it is better to do this through the Russian Railways ticket office.

How to return an electronic ticket of Russian Railways through the ticket office of the station?

As an alternative to canceling a ticket on the Russian Railways website, there is the possibility of a refund directly through the ticket office of the railway station. It should be noted that this option is not available in all windows. You can always check the list of cash desks that return tickets on the carrier's website.

Returning a boarding pass through the ticket office of the station has its own advantages, for example:

  • you can exchange a ticket in case of delay, but no later than 12 hours from the moment of train departure;
  • in special cases, this period can be extended up to 5 days, if there is a document confirming the existence of a good reason (illness, accident, etc.).

In both cases, you will have to draw up a claim according to the model established by the Russian Railways administration.

In addition, if the electronic registration has been completed, and there is less than an hour left before the departure of the train, you will also need to write a claim. The term of its consideration is up to 1 month. Return Money from 7 to 30 days. Therefore, the refund, in case of delay, can be very long. This should always be remembered.

In order to return a ticket at the box office, you need to have a passport and a printed e-ticket with you.

If there is no printout of the ticket, you will need to tell the operator the number of this document, consisting of 14 digits. As a last resort, you can show an image of the ticket from your smartphone or tablet. The ticket office operator of the railway station will perform the return operation himself. You will only have to wait for the funds to be credited to the card with which you bought the tickets.

The amount that can be received in case of a ticket refund

The refund rules are much simpler than the refund operation itself. The amount that can be received depends on the period in which the return was made. But a commission fee is always withheld, which is 192 rubles 70 kopecks. The rest of the money is returned depending on the date of issue of the ticket. The ticket price is the sum of the ticket price (the amount received by the carrier) and the cost of the reserved seat (car maintenance fee). The ratio of these values is approximately 60/40. You can calculate the amount to be received according to the following scheme:

  • if there are 8 or more hours left before departure from the landing station, then the entire ticket price is refunded, minus the fee;
  • if between 8 and 2 hours remain before departure, a refund is possible equal to the price of the ticket and half the cost of the reserved seat;
  • if less than 2 hours are left before departure, then only the ticket price is returned without the cost of the reserved seat.

Directly the refund itself is carried out on the card with which the purchase was made. The duration of the operation is from 7 to 30 days. You should take into account the processing time of the application by the bank, it can take several days. When exchanging tickets, you need to remember that Russian Railways may establish special refund rules for international and some domestic flights. Also, the conditions may differ depending on the type of wagon. In order not to be in a difficult situation, you need to clarify this information in advance.

As you can see, it will not be difficult to return an electronic ticket if you familiarize yourself with the rules and the return procedure in advance. Unfortunately, this issue is often postponed to the very last moment. This should not be done, as this approach can result in a significant waste of time and money. Always plan in advance what to do in case of force majeure.

It is better to buy a train ticket in advance - everyone knows this. However, the planned trip may be unexpectedly disrupted due to illness or other force majeure. Does this mean that you lose the money you paid, and the purchased ticket cannot be returned to the box office? No, it doesn't. Let's look at the basic rules for returning RZD tickets.

Can I return a train ticket?

Many passengers who have purchased a ticket but cannot go on a trip are interested in: “Is it possible to return a train ticket back?”. The order of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation clearly states that the travel document is allowed to be returned to the railway operator before the departure of the train. The amount of the refund depends on the date of issue of the ticket. The fewer days left before the trip, the smaller the amount will be returned to you.

The amount of the refund depends on the date of issue of the ticket.

How to return an e-ticket for a train purchased via the Internet?

Issuing travel documents online is a relatively new option, so not all passengers know how to return a purchased railway ticket via the Internet. On our website you can not only book a trip and buy a train ticket, but also issue a refund. The money will be returned to the card with which you paid for the order.

Refunds can be made in two ways:

  1. Through personal account

The method is available if you have made an order, but have not been registered and authorized on the site.

  1. Through the railway ticket office

If registration is completed, you will have to go to the station to the point of departure of the train and return the ticket to the railway ticket office.

When buying multiple tickets, you can return them all or only part of them. After the procedure is completed, a message will be sent to the linked mobile number with the amount, method and date of receipt of funds.

If you need confirmation of the return of tickets, the system will generate all the documents necessary for accounting. All you have to do is download the receipt from the site and print it on the printer.

The maximum return period for a railway ticket after authorization is 1 hour before the departure of the train.

How to return Russian Railways tickets purchased at the box office?

You can return a paper ticket only through the ticket office at the station at the starting point of the route. You will need:

  • original ticket;
  • the ID you used to make the purchase (passport or birth certificate).

The money will be returned in the same way that you paid for the purchase. If you paid in cash, the cashier will issue the amount. If you paid by credit card, then the funds will be transferred to it. In the latter case, you will have to wait a few days until the money is credited to the account.

The money paid for the ticket is returned in the same way as you paid for it.

Refund for a Russian Railways ticket purchased by another person

Another question that passengers often ask is: “Is it possible to issue a refund of Russian Railways tickets for another person?”. Yes, it is possible, but only with a notarized power of attorney.

If your relative or friend made a purchase through the site, enter his personal account. In the corresponding window, enter the order number and registration data of the failed passenger (e-mail or mobile number specified when placing the order). After that, go to the station of the starting point of the route. For example, if the travel document is issued for the direction "Krasnoyarsk - Moscow", go to the ticket office of the Krasnoyarsk railway station. You must have with you:

  • original ticket;
  • a notarized power of attorney in your name, signed by the buyer;
  • Your passport.

If the ticket was purchased in paper form, immediately go to the box office of Russian Railways.

To return a ticket for another person, you will need a notarized power of attorney.

Return of railway tickets: how much do you lose?

As we have already said, if the trip is canceled, you can return the tickets to Russian Railways. How much you lose in this case depends on the date of delivery. When you return your ticket, you will receive less funds than originally paid. The amount is reduced in proportion to the time remaining before the departure of the composition. From it will be additionally subtracted:

  • obligatory fee of Russian Railways - 192 rubles. 70 kopecks;
  • percentage for pre-sale of the document;
  • service fee - the amount depends on the category of the wagon.

If you issue a refund to the card, you will have to pay a commission from your bank or electronic payment system.

Thus, answering the question: "In how many days can you return train tickets without loss?", we can say that in any case you will not be able to return the entire amount. The only way lose less money - exchange the ticket for a later date.

RZD e-ticket refund: refund deadlines

The refund for the purchase of an electronic ticket will be:

  • from 7 to 30 days - to a bank card;
  • from 10 to 60 days - to an electronic wallet.

If you paid for the trip in cash, you can get the money at the time of the ticket at the box office.

Rules for the return of Russian Railways tickets after the departure of the train

If you did not have time to return the travel documents before the departure of the train, you can still return it. Russian Railways rules establish a 12-hour period in which it is allowed to return an unused ticket.

You can return a ticket for a departed train only through the railway ticket office. However, in addition to the mandatory fees, you will be charged a fine. If more than 12 hours have passed since the departure of the train, you will not be able to return the train ticket.

You can return the travel document within 12 hours from the moment of train departure.

It was a long time ago, back in the USSR. Once I got lost in the endless underground passages of the Kursk railway station and got to the right platform only 20 minutes after the ambulance left. I was very worried. However, quite quickly at the box office of the same station, the ticket was changed for tomorrow, and almost for nothing. I was lucky - in those years it was not easy to buy a ticket to the south, and in the south I had to queue for a return ticket immediately, on the day of arrival. Wow rest!

Now everything is easier. It is still worth buying a ticket in advance, but this is no longer such a big problem. The country and the type of economy have changed, but remained practically the same real life ordinary person. You can still miss the train, get sick, change your plans, or even think about going to Ukraine, which has now become a foreign country. And of course, I want to return the money for the unused ticket. In this case, our native RZD presents wandering and traveling own rules this return. They are not as cruel as one might assume, given the monopoly position of Russian Railways in the railway services market.

So, you are not late, but simply decided not to go. And you head to the return office - they are always available at large stations, at simple stations, their function is performed by ordinary ticket offices. Naturally, you need to present the ticket itself and your documents, but even here Russian Railways nobly (I'm not being ironic!) Allows not necessarily a failed passenger to go to the ticket office, but his confidant - could you, in the end, just get sick or, on the orders of the boss, urgently to go to Tula for a samovar for a presentation? In this case, you only need to issue a power of attorney for your wife or anyone else, and it is not necessary to contact a notary. And where to? Yes, even to your boss, but this is a separate issue and we will not dwell on it now. It is only important to add that when returning tickets abroad, for example, in the same Ukraine, you should be given a receipt for the return, but you will receive money only at home.

It would seem, but why? Let's go back home and we'll do everything there. But no, it’s not worth it - you will return from Yalta only in a couple of weeks, and the amount of money returned is the greater, the sooner you start this procedure. This is perhaps the most important aspect of the problem. For example, if you are returning a Simferopol-Moscow ticket, then it makes sense to take a trolleybus in Yalta to the capital of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea so that you are at the ticket office no later than 8 hours before the train departs - then you will be refunded the ALL cost of the ticket, to the penny. In this sense, it is more profitable to relax in Sevastopol or Feodosia, where the train goes almost directly to the beach.

However, the so-called return fee will still be deducted (now it is a little more than 140 rubles). Let's clarify the terminology. What is usually called a ticket is actually a travel document consisting of the actual ticket and the so-called reserved seat. In cost ticket only costs for locomotive traction (operating an electric locomotive or steam locomotive) and infrastructure are included railways(rails, stations, communications, etc.).

And what kind of reserved seat is this, unprecedented in the countries of developed capitalism? Why was it invented to sell not just a single travel document - a beautifully designed ticket, as, for example, in any airline?

So here it is reserved seat- this is our national treasure, almost a national idea. Once, under Tsar Peas, a ticket was sold plus such a card indicating the place (reserved seat, from the German “card for a seat”), on which you had to lie / sit all the way. A ticket without a reserved seat, that is, without a seat, only allowed you to enter the car, and whether you have time to take a seat or not is your problem. Now this practice has been preserved only for electric trains and common carriages of long-distance trains, although in some places they can sell a ticket without a reserved seat (without a seat) and in a reserved seat car, in which the compartment has no door and there are monstrous side seats. In fact, such a practice is some kind of violation of the Consumer Rights Protection Law (ZZPP), but what kind of disputes can there be with Russian Railways at the Taiga sorting station?

So now a reserved seat is not a type of carriage (SV, soft, compartment, reserved seat, general, with seats). It is not at all the right / obligation to travel in a reserved seat car, although they often think so, and Russian Railways stubbornly continues to confuse passengers and sells a ticket with a reserved seat in cars of various types.

In fact, a reserved seat means a type of fare (God, why is this verbiage!) And the most interesting thing is that the cost of a reserved seat is devilishly secretly included in the cost of a travel document and you don’t always know how much a reserved seat costs. And its cost can be from 30 to 80% of the cost of a travel document, and this is not the limit, in branded trains this percentage is even higher! So think here, is it necessary to shake in a trolley bus from Yalta to return, because a ticket in a trolley bus is a normal ticket, with a seat! - to Simferopol also costs money, and not so little! Therefore, if you suspect that the travel document will have to be returned, try to find out in advance how much the reserved seat costs.

In principle, in this situation, one can also discern some violation of the STD. Article 32 of this law states:

Article 32

The consumer has the right to refuse to perform the contract ... on the provision of services Anytime subject to payment to the contractor of the expenses actually incurred by him related to the fulfillment of obligations under this agreement.

Well, the cost of the reserved seat can still be considered as the company’s actual expenses or lost benefits (the train travels with one empty seat), but the rest of the cost of the travel document could be returned, even if you return this document in a month. However, if the cost of a reserved seat is such a huge part of the cost of a travel document, then there is no need to bother. Although if someone, out of principle, decided to take up this dreary business and went to court, and won it, then one could demand that RZD change its return rules.

So, 8 hours or more before train departures - ALL the total cost of the travel document (ticket + reserved seat).

But already 2 - 8 hours before departures will deduct 50% of the cost of the reserved seat.

For less than 2 hours before departures, as well as during the first 12 hours after train departures - minus 100% of the cost of the reserved seat.

Later, it will not be possible to return the money at all, except in special cases. Namely, if you return the travel document within 5 days after departure due to an accident or illness, only the cost of the ticket will be returned without 100% reserved seat. And that's for reference.

Separate question - e-ticket refund that you ordered online. (In this case, the term "ticket" refers to the same travel document). In other words, you have nothing but an SMS with personal code, which the railway company should send you after ordering. You can pay for the ticket in special terminals or salons cellular communication, cards or cash, from a bank account or electronic money. You need to arrive at the station only on the day of departure, present this 14-digit code and your passport and receive a paper ticket (travel document).

If you want to return it, you will first have to do the same operation, that is, go to the station, get a paper ticket and go to the return office with it. The money will be returned in the same way and in the same amount as in the case of a regular travel document with a reserved seat hidden in it, but with one important exception. If you have already registered your e-ticket, then you must first cancel it (on the company's website or directly at the station), but no later than 1 hour before the train departs. You can’t later, and you won’t be able to return the ticket either.

They will refund the money in the same way that you used when paying for an electronic ticket (by card, in cash, etc.), but for some reason within 7 to 30 days after the return. It is difficult to say whether such a rule is a direct violation of the RFP (for example, Article 31), but 30 days is a clear absurdity for such a rich organization as Russian Railways. Not all the money will be returned, but they will also be deducted for some commissions and services, although in general buying tickets on the Internet makes the work of Russian Railways easier.

The rules of Russian Railways are spelled out quite clearly, so that if they are adequately executed, you will receive all the money that you are entitled to. Therefore, there should be no disputes and refusals on the part of the returning party. However, if you are sure that you strictly observe the rules approved by them, and conflict situation nevertheless arose (that is, they don’t want to give money), then you should immediately contact the head of the station, and in his absence, describe this situation in a statement, indicate the date and time, collect the signatures of a couple of witnesses (the cashier will probably refuse to sign, but at the station there are always people) and send one copy to the Reception Office of Russian Railways at Moscow, Novaya Basmannaya, 2. You can also apply via the Internet directly to the President of Russian Railways JSC Vladimir Yakunin on his blog http://v-yakunin.livejournal.com. But most likely it will not come to this, and the money will definitely be returned to you.

And now the conclusions. 1. Don't miss the train. 2. Return the unused travel document as soon as possible. 3. Find out in advance how much a reserved seat costs. 4. Try not to postpone your vacation plans. 5. In the end, don't get sick, don't stand under the boom, and don't cross the street at a red light to avoid an accident. And in the south, do not swim beyond the line of buoys!

If you have a paper ticket in your hands, you must return it at the box office. You must have with you:

  1. The ticket itself.
  2. Power of attorney certified by a notary to return the ticket and receive money.
  3. Passport (your, that is, the person who gives the ticket). The original document is required.

How money is returned for a ticket The term and method of refunding money for returned tickets depends on how you paid for the purchase. Method of payment for the order Where the money will be returned Payment term after processing the application Bank cards To the payer's card Up to 30 working days Terminals, communication salons, HandyBank If you donate via the Internet - by transfer in the CONTACT payment system. If at the box office at the station - cash in it.
