If at the moment you are doing what you don’t like, if you are at a crossroads, want to change jobs, or are just looking for an occupation, then these tips will help you look at the situation more unfocused.

1. First you need to think it over well. And when you're trying to make a decision, try moving. For example: beat a pear, run or just walk around the room. During the movement, the psychophysical mood changes. The question, accordingly, becomes easier to consider from different angles.

2. Look at the situation from the outside, not as a participant. Another option: imagine how your idol or authoritative person would act in your place.

3. Visualize your dream. Imagine what sound, aroma, sensations it makes. Use all 5 senses to dive into the target.

4. Get all the information you can find on your subject. Ask for advice, consult online, meet those who already have what you only dream of.

5. Decide what meaning the concepts “success”, “glory”, “dignity” have for you. At what cost are you willing to pursue your dreams.

6. Meditate on how you start doing what you want. Imagine that you have already reached your goal. How will your behavior change? This is how you behave in everyday life.

7. Stop looking at the world gloomy and brutal. Rejoice more, read jokes, watch funny shows or funny videos:

8. Try to describe all your feelings and states in simple terms. For example: imagine how a 5-year-old child would talk about his dream?

9. Write down all your plans beautifully on a poster and hang them on front door. Such a constant reminder will help not to be distracted from what was planned.

10. On a sheet of paper, write down in two columns what you will get when you reach your goal. Also write about what you will lose if you do not do what you like.

11. Learn stratagems (cunning plan, original way to achieve the goal). Based on this knowledge, develop your own. This will help you creatively achieve what you dream about.

12. Now imagine that you are watching yourself from the side, but having already reached the goal. What would you advise this person? This view will help you find additional opportunities to become what you want.

13. In continuation of the previous advice, do the following. Imagine writing to yourself email, only on behalf of myself, who has lived for a year. What advice would you give your real self? This will help you make decisions without relying on the baggage of past experience.

14. Always write down all the ideas that come to mind. Once a week, brainstorm for yourself, when for 45 minutes you write down all the thoughts that somehow relate to your dream.

For one of these articles, I received a comment in the spirit of “self-discipline is plugging holes and is not needed at all if the matter is properly set up, but forcing yourself to do something is wrong and ineffective.”

Although, in my opinion, in the first article it is quite enough said that self-discipline is in human nature and it is thanks to it that a person became a person, nevertheless, this issue should be considered in more detail and considered from a practical point of view.

Why do people think that self-discipline is an unnecessary and harmful phenomenon?

There are several reasons:

- forcing yourself to do or not to do something, you experience discomfort and inconvenience.

- theoretically defined actions are easily performed without any self-discipline. If something is really important to you, if you really want something, then you will certainly do everything to achieve it. Roughly speaking: to get away from a crocodile that clicks its mouth two steps behind, self-discipline is not needed.
Man wants to survive - and runs. And the fact that he can’t force himself to go for a run in the morning - well, he doesn’t really want to, apparently.

- doing what you love, a person often experiences such enthusiasm that he needs to force himself NOT to work - so is there any point in self-discipline if you can simply find such a thing and do it?
The objections are serious and at first glance there is nothing to counter them.

I'll start from afar.

One of my friends is a fantastically hardworking person. She manages to redo a bunch of things around the house, not forgetting to give a fair chunk of the day to work and new projects. To make her rest - you need to make a thorough effort. In terms of work and career, she does not need absolutely any self-discipline - everything turns out as if by itself. But... but at the same time, she has a few not-so-healthy habits that, at first glance, are easy to get rid of. They do not require such an outstanding will as quitting smoking or a long diet. But she cannot cope with them - the struggle goes on with varying success.
Why does this situation arise?

Everything is simple.

Work and household chores for her are one of the most important centers of life, this is very, very important for her. But the rest is out of the field of attention and therefore is perceived as unimportant.

Now it is clear why self-discipline is still necessary? Why is it necessary to force yourself to do something, it will be difficult to do without it?
