The compartment of a "Luxe" class car is 1.5 times larger than the standard one in a car with six compartments and 2 times larger than the standard one in a car with four. The compartment has 2 beds: a sofa that transforms into a single bed 120 cm wide, and an upper shelf 90 cm wide. The compartment has an armchair and a folding table.

Each compartment has an individual bathroom with a washbasin, a vacuum toilet that functions even during stops, and a shower (in a car with four compartments - a shower cabin). The floor in the bathroom is heated.

Seating carriages

These are carriages equipped with comfortable seats.

Cars are subdivided into cars with a standard layout of seats (50-70), with an improved (up to 50) saloon type and cars based on a compartment car. There are 2 toilets with washbasins in the carriages.

Also, the trains run double-decker compartment cars, SV cars and with seats.

The concept of even and odd trains

In general, trains traveling from south to north and from west to east have even numbers, and trains traveling from north to south and from east to west have odd numbers. If it is impossible to accurately determine the direction of the train, this rule works partially for some section of the track. Sometimes on the way the train changes the number from even to odd or vice versa. Exceptions to the rule of even / odd numbering of trains - St. Petersburg. Most trains departing from St. Petersburg have odd numbers. Although St. Petersburg has recently been transferred under common system(trains 72, 74 to Yekaterinburg and Tyumen, 40 to Astana, etc.)

What does the letter in the train number mean?

In general, the letter in the train number is just the fourth character, making the train number unique. If only three-digit numbers were used on the railway, only 999 trains could be designated with them, and there are many more. Therefore, a fourth character is added - a letter. At the same time, they try to give letter designations in such a way that trains with the same numerical designations do not meet. For example, long-distance train No. 001a St. Petersburg - Moscow (Leningradsky railway station) and train No. 001b Moscow (Belorussky railway station) - Minsk do not meet each other anywhere. Therefore, only the numerical number of the train can be announced to passengers to avoid confusion.

There are also some other patterns with letters in train numbers. Firstly, sometimes it happens that one train includes several different numbers. For example, 001a and 001v (St. Petersburg - Moscow, "Red Arrow"). In this case, different letters denote different organizations that form the cars of this part of the train. If the train contains branded and non-branded cars, then they are also assigned different letters. If a train runs on some days as branded, and on others as non-branded, then it also receives different letters, although its schedule is the same. Another letter can denote different service teams. And also sometimes the letter indicates the direction of the train (for example, 104m Moscow - Adler and 104s Adler - Moscow). And, finally, there is a pattern between the train formation road and the letter, but it is not one hundred percent.

This summer we had our first train trip to the Krasnodar Territory with a one-year-old child. Therefore, I began to prepare for it in advance and thoroughly)) When it came time to order tickets (by the way, I do this only through the Russian Railways website, I see no reason to stand in lines), I accidentally stumbled upon information about the carrier company TransClassService. I was very surprised, because I thought that only Russian Railways existed in Russia)) I began to study information about them. And here's what I found out.

1. TKS is engaged in the transportation of passengers in branded long-distance trains, attaching its cars to Russian Railways trains. That is, here we were on train 004 Moscow-Kislovodsk, and 5 cars from the entire train were from the TKS company. TCS has a lot of directions, you can learn more about it on their website.

2. You can buy tickets for such cars at ordinary ticket offices, but you need to ask for them) That is, the cashiers themselves do not offer them, or they probably offer them last, until all tickets from Russian Railways are sold out.

3. You can buy such tickets on the Russian Railways website. But you need to look at the carrier column when choosing a wagon. Russian Railways cars are marked with FPK, and TKS cars are marked with FPK / T.

4. You can also buy tickets on the website of the TCS itself. [link]

6. I compared the prices of Russian Railways and TKS - they are the same!

And now let's talk about what we get in TKS for the same money:

1. The cars are in perfect condition. Clean and new. There is a path in the corridor that does not bunch up. The toilet is cleaned regularly throughout the journey. The paper is attached. There is paper for hands, and things that are put on the toilet. BIO toilets! You don't have to put your feet on them!

2. In the compartment, the shelves are upholstered with velvet fabric. The top shelves are already covered with bedding. For the lower shelves, the linen is in the bag. Mattresses with pillows are hidden in special covers.

3. There is a TV in the compartment!!!) It broadcasts three channels. They show cartoons and movies. They give out a remote control, a program and a folder with a menu of what you can order from food and other things.

4. There is a special stand for four glasses on the table, they can be used. There is also a bottle of water for a fee.

5. The conductor issues dry rations. Each box contains water, a cake, a couple of chocolates, pate, biscuits. Napkins, salt, pepper, fork, knife, spoon. They also serve dinner. We had buckwheat with beef. Not wow, but you can eat. All this is free!) That is, you can not take food with you, in principle)

6. An amenity kit is also issued. There is a toothbrush, paste, all sorts of wet wipes.

7. Another huge plus - in every compartment, every shelf at the head has a socket !!!) That is, you can forget about saving battery charge on your phone and enjoy the trip) There is also a headphone jack. Headphones are issued by the conductor. That is, you can watch TV and not interfere with fellow travelers)

5. There is no classic boiler with boiling water. There is a cooler with hot/cold water and a kettle. The conductor has a microwave, I asked them to warm up baby food.

6. For a separate inexpensive fee, you can order all sorts of sweets. For example, real brewed coffee - 90 rubles. All sorts of chocolate cookies are like in a store. Also on sale there are all sorts of souvenirs, perfume)

7. Yes, about air conditioning! He worked while the train was moving, turned off at the stations. It was chilly at night! On the top shelf, my husband slept under a warm blanket! This is 30 degrees in the summer heat) And so the temperature was about 23 degrees. At the stations, they went out onto the platform and died from the heat))

8. By the way, on both sides of the corridor above the doors there is a scoreboard where the time, temperature and whether the toilet is busy / free are written. Very comfortably)

9. There are 4 safes in the compartment! We did not use)

10. There is also a full-length mirror) All kinds of hangers)

Of the minuses:

1. There was an obsessive conductor on the way back. She offered to buy all sorts of souvenirs, then toilet water. It was stressful.)

2. And I also strained one moment. There are special playpens for trains. There is information on the TCS website that they can be booked, which I did by writing to them by mail. I was told that everything is ok. And when we got on the train and asked about the arena, the conductor at first said that they didn’t exist at all, and this service does not exist, and then she came and said that we could buy an arena in the next car for 2500 thousand) Thank you, no need)))

Photos taken from two trips.

Thank you for your attention!)

Good afternoon. I would like to express my gratitude to the conductors of train No. 22 Moscow - Labytnangi of the Moscow Branch, Andreeva Ekaterina and Yakubovich Anna. For the quality service to passengers, I felt at home. The carriage was clean, cozy and comfortable. I was lucky to have such good, responsive and pleasant conductors. Thanks to the girls for a good trip, it was very nice to travel with such wonderful people, there would be more such good guides. Everything was super for the entire trip. And I wish you girls female happiness and health, your not easy work.

We would like to sincerely thank the employees of the Russian Railways station in the city of Adler for the measures taken to organize temporary accommodation in the Alexander Garden of the Olympic Village and further send us home in connection with the emergency in the Krasnodar Territory. Also many thanks to the head of train No. 88 Adler-Nizhny Novgorod Trukhina E .G. And to the conductor of car No. 4 Maya for professionalism, ability to navigate in a critical situation and sensitive attitude towards passengers. There would be more such employees on the railway and in general, on our life path! Nina Vasilievna and Oksana Yastrebovs, who left Adler on October 27, 2018.

Hello! In October 2018, I was on vacation and treatment at the Cote d'Azur sanatorium (Sochi). Returned on October 24 from Art. LOO to st. ROSSOSH by train No. 36 Adler - St. Petersburg. I would like to thank all the staff of this train for their highly professional work, for quality service, catering and drinking water, in the current difficult conditions (ES) emergency which nature presented to all of us in the area of Tuapse station. Unfortunately, on the 26th, due to the impossibility of further train movement due to the emergency state of the railway. Cloths, I, along with other passengers, were transported by buses to the station. Hot key. At this station best qualities railroad workers only intensified. We were fed, placed in the carriages of train No. 84 (train chief SAFARYAN Ruslan Valerievich), I was in carriage No. 9 (conductor PILIPENKO Galina Tofikovna, employee of LVCHD-24 reserve conductors). The train followed the route Goryachiy Klyuch - St. Petersburg through the station. Moscow. I was pleasantly struck by the courtesy, cordiality, goodwill and attention that all the employees of this train showed to all of us, passengers of train No. 84. And on the way and upon arrival at our station ROSSOSH, we were surrounded by attention and care. I would like to express my special gratitude to Ruslan V. SAFARYAN, the head of the train, and Galina Tofikovna, the conductor of car No. 9, PILIPENKO. I ask you to encourage these wonderful people! Thank you for such employees!

Hello! I was extremely outraged by the technical condition of car No. 02 of train No. 115/116 Adler - St. Petersburg On September 26, I got into the indicated car at Loo station and drove for two days to my station and suffered from unbearable stuffiness, like all the passengers of this car. For two days, the train started did not see, According to the conductor, ventilation does not work, although when buying a ticket for 90 days, the cashier asked if air conditioning and a bio-toilet were needed in the car, in fact the car was (all rusty and soldered). I would like to know when this lawlessness for the sake of commerce will stop, who should be responsible for this, and how to return the money for the ruined fare, because at night we hardly slept ... There are no complaints about the conductor, he did his job well in the same "terrible" conditions .

JSC "Russian Railways" (RZD) is a state-owned company, a monopoly in the field of railways. It has many different divisions, passenger transportation in long-distance trains is carried out by DOSS and JSC FPC. In addition, there are suburban companies ("PPK"), organizations in the regions (for example, " Railways Yakutia), Aeroexpress (comfortable train from the airport to the railway station) and others.

In the mid-90s, rail transportation in Russia became unprofitable, the Ministry of Railways was mired in bureaucracy. This led to reforms and in 2003 Russian Railways was established. The state owns 100% of the company's shares. For 2016, Russian Railways has about 520 passenger trains in 120 directions, which carry passengers to 21 countries of the world.

JSC Federal Passenger Company (JSC FPC) is a subsidiary of Russian Railways, it owns the majority of passenger traffic on long-distance trains. All new passenger cars meet high comfort requirements, but many old cars still run from the times of the USSR. Let's consider several types of trains owned by JSC FPC.

Unbranded trains

They are more distinguished low level service and "Soviet" cars. The shelves are upholstered in burgundy faux leather. Toilets are closed at stations. Very few outlets. Often there is no air conditioning. Once they could run as part of branded trains, but now, due to long operation, something may not work in them or be dirty. There are no additional services. The main advantage of such trains is the cheapness of tickets.

branded trains

These are trains with new carriages and a wide range of services. They go faster than other trains, they are assigned convenient time departures and arrivals. Tickets on a branded train are always more expensive than on a non-branded one. Features of such compositions:

  • new cars - there is air conditioning, two dry closets, electronic displays explaining, a microwave and a refrigerator at the conductor;
  • in each compartment (in suite and compartment car) soft back at the bottom shelf electronic lock on the door, conductor call button, socket, individual night lamp;
  • there are free services: food, press, travel kit, etc.

The first branded train in the USSR appeared in 1931. It was called the "Red Arrow" and ran from St. Petersburg to Moscow. Today there are already 92 branded trains.

"Premium" trains

"Premium" are positioned as luxury trains. They differ from other branded trains in higher speed (which means less time on the road) and the presence of additional services (for example, there is a TV in the compartment car).

Premium lineups appeared in 2009. They followed several directions, but later some of the trains were canceled due to low traffic or renamed. Now Premium trains run from Moscow in three directions: Adler, Kazan, Novorossiysk.

double decker trains

These are trains with double-decker compartment and luxury (SV) cars. The restaurant car is also two-story: there is a bar on the first floor, and a dining room on the second.

A double-decker train can carry twice as many passengers, so the ticket price is usually lower than a similar single-decker one. They provide the comfort of a compartment car at the price of a reserved seat. But such carriages are also cramped: you can’t sit on the top shelf, less space for luggage. It is planned to replace all second-class carriages with double-decker carriages in 10 years.

Russia's first double-decker train began running on the Moscow-Sochi route in 2013. In 2016, there were already several such trains, they follow to St. Petersburg, Samara, Voronezh, Kazan. More about double-decker trains

"DOSS"

The Directorate of High-Speed Communications (“DOSS”) deals with new generation high-speed trains. The first was, which in 2009 connected Moscow, St. Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod. It accelerates to 250 km / h and travels the distance between the two capitals in 4 hours, which takes more than 8 hours for an ordinary train. And already in 2010, the second electric train was launched - plying from the northern capital to Helsinki (Finland). In 2015, on the Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod route, the Sapsan changed the high-speed train, reducing travel time by 20 minutes. Tickets for many high-speed trains are more expensive than others on the same route.

The seated train speeds up to 160 km/h. It is used as a high-speed train on flights lasting up to 5.5 hours. "Lastochka" runs on many routes in the European part of Russia. Depending on the flight, part of the trains belongs to the carrier DOSS, and part belongs to JSC FPC. Tickets for Lastochka are inexpensive, cheaper than all other trains on these routes.

Most high-speed trains run only with comfortable seated cars. Each train has its own set of additional services: wi-fi, leather seats with a footrest, seats that can be rotated in the direction of travel, a dining car, and so on.
