Psalm 50

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy, and according to the multitude of Thy mercies, cleanse my iniquity. Wash me most of all from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin; for I know my iniquity, and my sin before me is taken out. I have sinned against you alone and done evil before you, as if you were justified in your words, and conquered when you judge Thee. Behold, in iniquities I was conceived, and in sins my mother gave birth to me. Behold, thou hast loved the truth; the unknown and secret wisdom of Thy revealed to me. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Give joy and joy to my hearing; the bones of the humble will rejoice. Turn Your face away from my sins and cleanse all my iniquities. Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Reward me the joy of Your salvation and confirm me with the dominating Spirit. I will teach the wicked in Your way, and the wicked will turn to You. Deliver me from blood, O God, God of my salvation; my tongue rejoices in thy righteousness. Lord, open my mouth, and my mouth will proclaim your praise. As if you would have desired sacrifices, you would have given them: you do not favor burnt offerings. Sacrifice to God the spirit is broken; a contrite and humble heart God will not despise. Please, O Lord, with Thy favor Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built. Then be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness, an offering and a burnt offering; then they will offer bullocks on your altar.

Among the many amazing books by Bernard Werber, "The Tree of the Possible" occupies a special place.

...if a huge stinking meteorite falls into the center of Paris,

... if aliens breed us like pets,

... if it turns out that trees are intelligent, thinking creatures,

…if your own hand raises a rebellion against you…

It turns out that the future is a completely controllable element, subject to us, but we need to think about it in advance ...

Bernard Werber
The Tree of the Possible and Other Stories

Dedicated to Tiziana

Foreword

When I was little, my father always told me some story at night.

And then I saw her in my dream.

Every time the world seemed too complicated, I came up with a fairy tale that had a little bit of my troubles. This brought immediate relief.

At school, children asked me to write stories for them. Often these stories began with the words: "He opened the door and was numb."

Over time, the stories became more and more incredible. Then it turned into a game with the only rule - to find the problem and then its unusual solution.

When I wrote my first novel, in order not to forget how to quickly invent fairy tales, I spent one hour in the evening writing stories. So I took a break from the morning work devoted to the creation of "serious novels."

The plot for the novel was born from observations during a walk, from conversations with a friend, from dreams, from sorrows that I wanted to get rid of by moving them into a story.

The Mystery of Numbers was inspired by a conversation with my little nephew, who told me that in his class there was a hierarchy that divided students into those who could count up to ten, and those who could count beyond.

The idea for Blackness came to me when I saw an overprotective passer-by trying to get an old man across the road who didn't need it at all.

"The Last Riot" was written after visiting a nursing home.

"Silent friend" - after a conversation with Professor Gerard Amzallag, a biologist who studies various forms life. The scientific discovery described in the novel is little known, but completely real.

Some of the details from "Learn to Love Them" will be included in the play, which is called "Our Human Friends".

It has always been interesting for me, when speaking about us, people, to take the point of view of beings different from us. It is an inexhaustible source of thought. I have already used the "exotic view of humanity" technique in The Ants, where my character, number 103, tries to understand the behavior of people by watching the news on TV, and in Empire of Angels, where Michelle Panson watches mortals from paradise and with bitterness makes sure that they are trying to "reduce their misery, instead of building happiness."

Ants and angels: two points of view on a person - from infinitely "low" to infinitely "high". There will be an infinitely "other" point of view in this book.

The Tree of Possibility is an invention I've been dreaming about since I lost a game of chess to a computer. If a bunch of pieces of iron can anticipate any possible options development of the party, why not include in it the totality human knowledge, all hypotheses of the future, so that it gives out possible options for the development of our society for a short, medium and long period of time.

"School of Young Gods" - a draft of a future novel that continues the "Empire of Angels". His problem is the upbringing and daily life of one of the gods who govern us.

These short stories will help the reader understand how my novels are born.

Each story is a guess taken to its logical conclusion. What will happen if you launch a rocket on the Sun, if a meteorite falls into the Luxembourg Gardens, if a person's skin becomes transparent ...

I would like to tell these stories in your ear.

Learn to love them

In childhood, each of us had entertainment - domestic people. They sat in a cage, tirelessly spun in a wheel or lived in an aquarium with a beautiful artificial landscape.

However, in addition to tame people, there are also wild ones. They are nothing like the ones that live in our gutters and attics, multiplying rapidly and forcing us to use humanicides.

Not so long ago, a planet was discovered where wild people live, not even knowing about our existence. Is it strange place near the space road 33. Wild people live together. They have created large nests, they know how to use tools, they even have a communication system based on a characteristic squeak. There are many legends about this planet where wild creatures live. It is said that they have bombs that can destroy the entire planet and that they use pieces of paper instead of money. Some say that they eat each other and build cities at the bottom of the sea. In order to separate fact from fiction, our government, since 12008 (as part of the "Don't kill them without trying to understand" program), has sent researchers to this planet who study wild people, remaining invisible to them. We offer the results of these little-known researches in this article. Here is her plan:

Wild human beings in their natural habitat.

Their manners and mode of reproduction.

How to take care of them at home.

Wild human beings in their natural habitat

1. Where can you meet wild people?

Human beings are found almost everywhere in our galaxies, but the only place where they could develop on their own is Earth. Where is this planet located? Going on vacation, you often wonder how to get around the big space traffic jams. Use spaceway 33, perhaps longer, but less crowded. If you slow down near road number 707, you will see a yellowish, dim galaxy. Park your interplanetary car and approach.

On the left side of this galaxy, you will notice a rather old and shabby solar system where Earth is the only planet with signs of life.

The earth is surrounded by white steam, its surface has a bluish tint. This is due to the large amount of oxygen, hydrogen and carbon in its atmosphere.

2. How to recognize them?

Take a magnifying glass and look at the savage: thick hair on top, pink, white or brown skin, paws with many fingers. When walking, people keep their balance on their hind legs, slightly sticking out their buttocks. They breathe (mainly oxygen) through two small holes, through the other two they perceive sounds. Two more holes serve to capture vibrations of light waves. (Craig's experiment: if a person is blindfolded, he will begin to stumble.) Humans do not have a radar system that allows them to navigate in the dark, which explains their weaker nighttime activity compared to daytime. (Brons experiment: put a person in a box and close the lid. After a short period of time, the person begins to emit a desperate squeak. People are afraid of the dark.)

3. How to find people on Earth?

There are many ways to discover them. First of all, these are lights at night and smoke during the day. As you land your interplanetary machine, you will notice their trails - big black lines.

Sometimes in the forest you can meet people who are tourists, or people who are peasants, or people who are scouts.

There are many subspecies of man on Earth: water people, with black flipper legs, flying people, with a large delta wing on their backs, smokers who constantly release steam from their mouths.

4. How to approach them?

bounty- generous mercy; mercy, compassion, pity.
Most- especially, most of all more- more).
Yako- here: for, because.
Az- I am.
take out- always, at all times, unceasingly.
Win always judge you- you will win when you judge me (you will win in judgment over me).
Xie bo- that's it, really se- here; bo- because, because).
Hyssop- an herb used as a sprinkler.
Dasi- give.
Bones of the humble- crushed, broken (as we say about illness or severe fatigue).
The bones of the humble will rejoice- here: let the broken bones be strengthened again, i.e. the soul is dejected, depressed (by suffering).
Create- create, do.
The spirit is right- the spirit of the righteous, just, truthful, faithful.
womb - here: the innermost, innermost, invisible depth of the soul.
recompense- Give me back.
oral- lips, mouth (dual of oral- lip).
If only- if.
Ubo - here: indeed.
burnt offering or burnt offering- a sacrifice in which the animal, without remains, was burned on the altar.

Altar- an altar.

Word psalm means song. This psalm was compiled by the prophet David, when he repented of a great sin - he killed the pious Uriah the Hittite and took possession of his wife Bathsheba. This psalm is called repentant, because it expresses deep contrition for the sin committed and an earnest prayer for mercy, and perhaps surpasses all the others in the depth of repentance. Therefore, this psalm is often read in the church during worship. All of us, guilty of many sins, should say this psalm as often as possible, delving into every word.
Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy, and according to the multitude of Thy mercies, cleanse my iniquity. Sin is great, so the prophet asks God for great mercy. Only God's inexpressible bounties can cleanse grave iniquity.
Wash me most of all from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. The Lord has already announced to David through the prophet Nathan that he takes away his sins for repentance (2 Kings 12:13) - but David prays that God will completely cleanse him of sinful impurities. So we too, receiving remission of our sins in the Sacrament of Repentance, must nevertheless incessantly cry out to the Lord so that he destroys the very root of sin in us.
For I know my iniquity, and my sin before me is taken out. Have mercy, Lord, cleanse me! Sin burdens me, I cannot forget it, I see it day and night in my conscience, which constantly disturbs my soul.
I have sinned against You alone, and done evil before You, as if You were justified in Your words, and conquered, when you judge Ty (in the Russian translation of the psalm: so that You are righteous in Your judgment and pure in Your court). The prophet presents himself not to human, but to God's judgment (David is a king, and he is not afraid of human judgment). Having hidden iniquity from people, you cannot hide it from the Supreme Judge, Who sees everything hidden; before God's truth, our deceit is convicted - our untruth and wrong, and all our justifications are powerless.
Behold, I was conceived in iniquity, and in sins give birth to me, my mother. All of us, descendants of Adam, are conceived in sins, inheriting original sin. We plead with God for forgiveness by presenting to Him our natural tendency to sin.
Behold, thou hast loved the truth... (note the word thou art- it refers to the 2nd person: here, You loved the truth). You, Lord, are the Truth I am the way and the truth and the life- In. 14b) You love the truth and want us to abide in the truth. And I confess that You love the truth and hate falsehood, therefore I confess and confess before You that I have sinned.
The unknown and secret wisdom of Thy revealed to me- the unknown (hidden) and secret (that is, the hidden secret) of Your wisdom You showed me. (King David speaks of his prophetic gift, that God, by the Holy Spirit, revealed to him the ineffable mysteries of His Providence; but every Christian also receives the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the Sacraments of the Church and, through the teachings of the Church, touches the hidden mysteries of God's Providence, and each of us is told unknown and secret wisdom of God: we have been taught the true faith, we have been shown the path to the Kingdom of Heaven.) How did I respond to these grace-filled gifts? Sin!
Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Here is the hope to completely get rid of sin and be filled with joy. The prophet likens to Hyssop the action of the Holy Spirit, which cleanses all defilement in us.
Give joy and gladness to my ears. Give me, to my ears, the grace-filled news of mercy, rejoice and rejoice me!
The bones of the humble will rejoice. The committed sin crushes not only the soul, but also the body: under the weight of sin, the bones become weak, humble; when the sin is forgiven and an unbearable burden is removed from the conscience, then the whole body is filled with joy (remember how sometimes we sigh with deep relief and straighten our shoulders).
Turn Your face away from my sins, and cleanse all my iniquities- cut them out of the book of my life.
Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb.. Restore the fallen soul to primordial beauty, destroying in me the impurity of the ancestral sin. Give me the grace of righteousness!
Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Sin tears away from God, from the Source of Life - and we pray that we do not find ourselves in pitch darkness, where the face of God is not visible.
Give me back the joy of Your salvation, and by the Sovereign Spirit confirm me. Reward, return to me the joy that I enjoyed when I was kept by You; give me the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
I will teach the wicked in Your way, and the wicked will turn to You. When You deliver me from sin and give me the Holy Spirit, I will again be able to teach the transgressors to walk in Your ways, says David, His chosen one, to the Lord. And for us, this vow contains the same thought as in the petition of the Lord's Prayer: hallowed be thy name in us, Lord; for if You cleanse our sins and by Your grace we begin to live according to Your will, then by our very life we will be able to preach Your truth and turn the hearts of people to You.
Deliver me from blood, O God, God of my salvation... Prophet David asks God to save him from the spilled blood of Uriah, in which he seems to be drowning (from the blood - a more accurate translation of the words of the psalm). The words God of my salvation are equivalent to words God my Savior- Appeal to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. With these words of the prophet, we cry out to the Savior to deliver us from the murderous effect of our sins.
My tongue shall rejoice in thy righteousness. Lord, open my mouth, and my mouth will proclaim your praise. My mouth is now closed with sin. Having received the remission of sins, I will not be silent, but I will testify of You, sing praises to You and glorify Your mercies.
As if you would have desired sacrifices, you would have given them: you do not favor burnt offerings. You, Lord, have abolished the sacrifices under the law, which cannot grant remission of sins: the external sacrifice, offered without the participation of the heart, does not matter.
Sacrifice to God the spirit is broken; a contrite and humble heart God will not despise. The sacrifice that You loved is repentance and contrition of the heart; You will not despise a contrite and humble heart, O God (Russian translation).
Please, O Lord, with Thy favor Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built. King David prays not only for himself, but also for his city and people, and asks the Lord to raise up the walls of Jerusalem shaken by his sin. But Zion and Jerusalem Holy Scripture depict also the whole Church.
Then be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness, an offering and a burnt offering; then they will offer calves on your altar. The psalm ends with the image of a sacrifice to God, offered in purity of heart and righteousness; having cleansed our souls with repentance, we will aspire to God with all our being and give ourselves entirely to Him, all our hearts, all our lives - this will be our “burnt offering”.

morning prayers

Rising from sleep, before any other work, stand reverently, presenting yourself before the All-Seeing God, and, making the sign of the cross, say:

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Then wait a little until all your feelings come to silence and thoughts leave everything earthly, and then say the following prayers, without haste and with attention of the heart.

Publican's Prayer

(Gospel of Luke, chapter 18, verse 13)

God, be merciful to me, a sinner! ( Bow)

Initial prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, through the prayers of Your Most Pure Mother and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.

Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

King of Heaven, Comforter, Spirit of Truth, who exists everywhere and fills everything with Himself, Source of blessings and life Giver, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save our souls, Good One.

Trisagion

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us.

(It is read thrice, with the sign of the cross and a bow from the waist).

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer to the Holy Trinity

Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord, cleanse our sins; Lord, forgive our iniquities; Holy One, come and heal our infirmities, for the sake of Your Name!

Lord have mercy. ( thrice) Glory, and now.

Lord's Prayer(given to us by Jesus Christ)

Our Father, who art in heaven! Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us our daily bread for this day; and forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors; and do not let us fall into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Troparion of the Holy Trinity

Having risen from sleep, we fall down to You, Good One, and we bring the angelic song to You, Strong One: Holy, Holy, Holy are You, God, through the prayers of the Mother of God, have mercy on us.

Glory: You raised me from the sleep of the night, Lord - enlighten my mind and heart, and open my mouth in order to sing to You, Holy Trinity: Holy, Holy, Holy are You, God, through the prayers of the Mother of God, have mercy on us!

And now: Suddenly the Judge will come, and the deeds of everyone will be exposed, but we also call with fear at midnight: holy, holy, holy You, God, through the prayers of the Virgin, have mercy on us!

Lord have mercy. ( 12 times)

Prayer to the Holy Trinity

Having risen from sleep, I thank Thee, Holy Trinity, for by Thy great goodness and long-suffering, Thou, O Lord, did not become angry with me, a lazy and sinful one, and did not destroy me with my iniquities, but, as always, showed His philanthropy, and from the sleep of the night raised me, so that I may offer you the morning prayer and glorify your might. And now enlighten my mental eyes, open my mouth to learn Thy words, and to understand Thy commandments, and to do Thy will, and, confessing Thee with all my heart, to sing of Thy all-holy name, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Come, let us worship our King - God. ( Bow)

Come, let us worship and fall down before Christ, our King - God. ( Bow)

Come, let us bow down and fall down before Christ Himself, our King and God. ( Bow)

Psalm 50

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy, and according to the multitude of Thy mercies, cleanse my iniquities. Wash me from all my iniquities, and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my iniquities, and my sin is always before me. I have sinned against You alone, and I have done evil before You, so that You are right in Your judgment and just in Your judgment. From my very birth I am guilty before You; I am a sinner from my conception in my mother's womb. But You love the sincere in heart and reveal to them the secrets of wisdom. Sprinkle me with hyssop and I will be clean; wash me and I will be whiter than snow. Return joy and gladness to my soul, and my bones, broken by Thee, will rejoice. Turn Your face away from my sins and cleanse all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit in me. Cast me not away from Your presence, and take not Your Holy Spirit from me. Give me back the joy of Thy salvation, and by Thy Sovereign Spirit confirm me. I will teach the transgressors Your ways, and the wicked will turn to You. Deliver me from premature death, O God, God my salvation, and my tongue will praise Your righteousness. God! Open my mouth, and my mouth will proclaim Your praise. For you do not desire sacrifice—I would give it—and you do not delight in burnt offerings. Sacrifice to God is a contrite spirit; God will not despise the heart of the contrite and humble. Renew Zion, O God, by Thy mercy; raise up the walls of Jerusalem. Then righteous sacrifices will please Thee; then they will offer sacrifices to you on your altar.

Symbol of faith

I believe in one God the Father, the Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, the visible and the invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only Begotten, begotten from the Father before the beginning of time; Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, uncreated, consubstantial with the Father, through whom all things were created.

For us for the sake of people and for our sake of salvation, he descended from heaven and was incarnated from the Holy Spirit and Mary the Virgin, and became a man. He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered, and was buried, and rose again on the third day, as the Scriptures foretold. And ascended into heaven and reigns with the Father. And coming again in glory to judge the living and the dead, His kingdom will have no end. And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Life-Giving One, who proceeds from the Father, with the Father and the Son equally worshiped and glorified, who spoke through the prophets.

Into one Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the remission of sins. I look forward to the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the age to come. Amen.

Prayer 1? I, St. Macarius the Great

God, cleanse me, a sinner, for I have never done anything truly good before Thee: but deliver me from all evil, and Thy will be done in me; Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 2? I, the same saint

Having risen from sleep, I offer you a prayer song to You, My Savior, and, falling down, I implore You: do not let me fall asleep in sinful death, but have pity on me, voluntarily Crucified, and me, lying in laziness, soon rise up, and save me in anticipation To you, both in prayer and in a night's sleep, may a sinless day dawn on me, Christ God, and save me.

Prayer 3? I, the same saint

To Thee, Lord Lover of mankind, having risen from sleep, I turn my thoughts and feelings, and I take up Thy deeds according to Thy mercy, and I pray to Thee: help me at all times and in every deed, and deliver me from all the evil of this world and from participation in deeds of the devil, and save me, and lead me into Your eternal kingdom. For You are my Creator and Provider and Giver of every good thing, and all my hope is in You, and I give glory to You, now, and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 4? I, the same saint

Lord, according to Your many goodness and Your great generosity, You gave me, Your servant, the past time of this night to pass without adversity from any evil: You Yourself, Master, Creator of the whole world, illuminate me with Your true light, and help the enlightened heart to do the will Yours, now, and always, and, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 5? I, St. Basil the Great

Lord Almighty God disembodied forces and all flesh, living in the highest and humble, merciful, and knowing the very depths of human hearts, You are the Beginningless and Eternal Light, in which there is no change, not the slightest obscuration; Himself, the Immortal King, now accept from us, on the multitude of Thy bounties daring, our prayers, brought to Thee from foul lips, and forgive us our sins, in deed, and in word, and in thought, sinned by us through knowledge or ignorance, and cleanse us from all defilement of the flesh and spirit. And grant us with a wakeful heart and a sober mind to pass the whole night of our earthly life, waiting for the coming of the bright and glorious day of Your Only Begotten Son, the Lord and God and Savior of our Jesus Christ, in which He, the Judge of all, will come with glory, to reward everyone according to deeds his; may he find us not fallen and lazy, but cheerful and ready for action, may we enter into the joy of the Divine chamber of His glory, where there is an unceasing voice of celebrating and inexpressible joy of those who see Your face, the kindness uttered. For You are the true Light, enlightening and sanctifying all, and all creation sings to You forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 6? I, the same saint

We bless you, God, Lord of mercy, who always does great and incomprehensible things with us, glorious and terrible, but he has no number, giving us sleep to support our weakness and to rest from the labors of our toilsome flesh. We thank You, for You did not destroy us with our iniquities, but philanthropy, as always, and from the sleep of the night raised us up to glorify Your might. And we pray to Your immeasurable goodness: enlighten our thoughts and eyes, and awaken our mind from the heavy sleep of laziness, open our mouths and fill them with Your praise, let us unwaveringly confess and sing in all and from all the glorified God, the beginningless Father with Your Only Begotten Son and by Your All-Holy and Good and Life-giving Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 7? I, to the Most Holy Theotokos

I sing of the grace given to you by God, Mistress, I pray to you - grace my mind. Teach me to faithfully follow the path of Christ's commandments. Strengthen in wakefulness and singing, driving away despondency from sleep. Bound by the chains of sins, release Your supplications, O God-bride. Preserve me in the night and in the days, delivering me from the enemies who rise up against me. Give birth to the life-giver of God, revive me, mortified by passions. Who gave birth to the non-evening Light, enlighten my blinded soul. O wondrous chamber of the Master, our God, make me a house of the Divine Spirit. Doctor who gave birth, heal the souls of my long-term passion. Carried by the storm of life, guide me to the path of repentance. Deliver me from eternal fire and from the horrors of the underworld. May I not get to the joy of demons, guilty of many sins. Create, Immaculate, a new man out of me, decrepit from all my sins and transgressions. Deliver me from all torment and implored the Lord of all. Let me partake of heavenly gladness with all the saints. Holy Virgin Hear the voice of your indecent servant. Grant me tears, O Most Pure One, that purify my soul's filth. With all my heart I bring you groans unceasingly and I ask for Your intercession, Lady. Accept my prayer and offer it to our good God. Surpassing the Angels, make me worthy of union with the angelic heavenly world. Light-bearing cover of heaven, create spiritual grace in me. I lift up my hands and open my mouth, defiled by filth, for praise, O All-blameless One. Deliver me from soulful abominations, diligently imploring Christ, to Him honor and Worship befits, now, and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 8? I, to our Lord Jesus Christ

Many-merciful and all-merciful my God, Lord Jesus Christ! Out of great love You came down and incarnated to save all people: I pray You, Savior, save me also by Your grace. If you could save me for deeds, then it would not be your gift and grace-filled love. O inexhaustible generous and inexpressibly merciful! You said, Christ and my Lord: "He who believes in me has eternal life." If faith in You saves those who perish, behold, I believe! Save me! For You are my God and Creator. My faith, instead of works, be credited to me, my God, for you will not find works that justify me. But let my faith be in place of all the deeds that I have not done, let it answer, let it justify me, let it make me a participant in Your eternal glory. May Satan not steal me away, may he not boast that he has torn me away from Your hand and protection. But whether I want to or not, save me, Christ, my Savior, quickly, send me Your help, so that I will not perish: for You are my God from my mother's womb. Vouchsafe me, Lord, now to love You, as I used to love those sins that I sinned against You, and to work for You without laziness, as I previously worked for Satan, a deceiver and a deceiver. May I work for You, Lord and my God Jesus Christ, all the days of my life, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 9? I, to the Guardian Angel

Holy Angel, guarding my unfortunate soul and my passionate life! Do not leave me, a sinner, and do not depart from me for my intemperance: do not let the evil demon possess me because of the weakness of my mortal body; take my sinful and fallen hand and put me on the path of salvation. O holy Angel of God, guardian and protector of my accursed soul and body! Forgive me everything with which I offended You all the days of my life, and if I sinned this past night, protect me from this in the coming day, and save me from every temptation of the enemy, but I will not anger God with any sin, and pray for me to May the Lord establish me in His fear, and show me worthy of His goodness. Amen.

Prayer 10? I, to the Most Holy Theotokos

My Most Holy Mother of God! With Thy holy and all-powerful supplications, drive away from me, Thy humble and unfortunate servant, despondency, oblivion, foolishness, negligence, and all filthy, crafty and blasphemous thoughts from my accursed heart and from my darkened mind, for I am wretched and unhappy, and deliver me free me from many bad memories and thoughts, and from all evil deeds: for all peoples bless you, and your most pure name is glorified forever and ever. Prayer 1? I, Saint Macarius the Great, to God the Father

Eternal God and King of all creatures, who let me live until this hour. Forgive me the sins that I committed on this day in deed, word and thought, and cleanse, Lord, my humble soul from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit. And give me, Lord, on this night a peaceful sleep, so that, having risen from my humble bed, I would please Your most holy name all the days of my life and defeat the enemies of the flesh and incorporeal who rise up against me. And deliver me, O Lord, from vain thoughts that defile me, and from evil lusts. For Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 2? I, Saint Antiochus, to our Lord Jesus Christ

Almighty, Word of the Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, You Yourself, being perfect, according to Your great mercy, never leave me, Your servant, but always abide in me. Jesus, good Shepherd of Your sheep, do not allow demonic rebellion in me and do not let satanic desires possess me: for the seed of destruction is in me. You, Lord God, whom we worship, the Holy King, Jesus Christ, save me sleeping with unfading light, by Your Holy Spirit, with which You sanctified Your disciples. Give, Lord, to me, Your unworthy servant, Your salvation on my bed: enlighten my mind with the light of the mind of Your holy Gospel, soul with the love of Your Cross, heart with the purity of Your word, my body with Your all-conquering suffering, save my thought with Your humility, and lift up me at the proper time to praise You. For You are glorified with Your Father without beginning and with the Most Holy Spirit forever. Amen.

Prayer 3? I, to the Holy Spirit

Lord, Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of Truth, have mercy and have mercy on me, Your sinful servant, and release me, unworthy, and forgive everything in which I have sinned today as a man, and not even as a man, but worse than cattle: my free sins and involuntary, known to me and unknown; through inexperience or malice, through temper or frivolity. If I swore by Your name, or blasphemed him in my thoughts; or whom I ridiculed, or slandered whom in my anger, or saddened, or angry, or lied, or did not sleep at the right time; or despised a beggar who turned to me, or grieved my brother, or boasted, or became proud, or became angry; or during prayer my mind rushed to ungodly worldly thoughts; or indulged in prodigal thoughts; or overeating or getting drunk or laughing foolishly; or he plotted evil, or at the sight of someone else's good he envied his heart; or obscenities spoken; or laughed at the sin of my brother, but my sins are without number; or did not care about prayer; or did something else evil - I don’t remember, because I did all this and more. Have mercy on me, my Creator and Master, your dull and unworthy servant; and leave me, and let go, and forgive me, for You are good and philanthropic; Yes, I will lie down in peace, sleep and rest, prodigal, sinful and accursed, and bow, and sing, and glorify Your most honorable name, with the Father and His only-begotten Son, now, and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 4? I, St. Macarius the Great

What will I bring to You or what will I reward You, the Immortal King, rich in gifts, the generous and philanthropic Lord, because I, lazy to serve You and did nothing good, brought me to the end of this past day, directing my soul to conversion and salvation. Be merciful to me, a sinner and deprived of any good deed, resurrect my fallen soul, defiled in immeasurable sins. Remove from me all the evil thoughts of this visible life. Forgive my sins, O only Sinless One, with which I have sinned against You on this day, in knowledge and ignorance, in word and deed and thought, and with all my feelings. You yourself protect and save me from any attack of the enemy by Your Divine power and immeasurable philanthropy and strength. Cleanse, O God, cleanse the multitude of my sins. Delight, Lord, to deliver me from the snares of evil, and save my restless soul, and illuminate me with the light of Your face when You come in glory, and now let me sleep without condemnation, and without dreams and embarrassment, keep the thoughts of Your servant, and all satanic deeds drive away from me, and enlighten the intelligent eyes of my heart, so that I will not fall asleep in death. And send me a peaceful angel, guardian and mentor of my soul and body, and deliver me from my enemies; so that, having risen from my bed, I will bring you prayers of thanksgiving. Hey, Lord, hear me, a sinful and poor servant of Yours, give me, having risen from sleep, to learn Your words with will and conscience, and through Your angels, drive away demonic despondency from me: may I bless Your holy name, and glorify and glorify the Most Pure Mother of God Mary which You gave us, sinners, for protection, and hear Her praying for us, for I know that She follows Your philanthropy and does not stop praying. Her intercession and the sign of the Holy Cross, and for the sake of all Your saints, save my poor soul, Jesus Christ, our God, for You are Holy and glorified forever. Amen.

Prayer 5?i

Lord our God, everything that I have sinned today in word, deed and thought, as a Good and Humanitarian, forgive me. Peaceful sleep and serene grant me. Send your guardian angel, protecting and preserving me from all evil, for you are the guardian of our souls and bodies, and we send glory to you, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit now, and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 6?i

Lord our God, in whom we believe and whose name we call upon more than every name! Give us, going to sleep, relief to the soul and body, and save us from every dream and dark passion. Stop the desires of passions, extinguish the fire of bodily excitations. Let us live chastely in deeds and words, so that, leading a virtuous life, we will not lose the blessings You promised, for You are blessed forever. Amen.

Prayer 8? I, to our Lord Jesus Christ

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, for the sake of the prayers of Your most honest Mother, and Your disembodied Angels, Your Prophet and Forerunner and Baptist, God-inspired Apostles, bright and victorious martyrs, deliver me from the attack of demons. My Lord and Creator, who desires not the death of a sinner, but his conversion and life, give me conversion too, cursed and unworthy; save me from the mouth of the destroying serpent, which is eager to devour me and bring me alive to hell. My Lord, my consolation, You have clothed yourself in corruptible flesh for the sake of me, damned, tear me out of damnation, and give consolation to my damned soul. Make my heart do Thy commandments and depart from evil deeds in order to receive Thy blessedness. For in You, O Lord, I trust, save me.

Prayer 9? I, to the Most Holy Theotokos, Peter the Studio

To Thee, the Most Pure Mother of God, I fall down, cursed, and pray: you know, Queen, that I constantly sin and anger Your Son and my God, and although I repent many times, I turn out to be lying before God, and I repent, trembling: will the Lord really strike me? And then I do the same again. You know all this, my Lady, Lady Mother of God, and I pray: have mercy, strengthen and grant me to do good. You know, my Lady Mother of God, that I hate my evil deeds, and with all my thoughts I love the law of my God; but I don’t know, Lady Most Pure, why I love what I hate, but I don’t do good. Do not allow, Most Pure, to be fulfilled by my will, for it is evil, but may the will of Your Son and My God be in everything; may he save me and enlighten me, and give me the grace of the Holy Spirit, so that from now on I would stop my bad deeds, and in the future I would live according to the commandments of Your Son, and all glory, honor and power are due to Him with His Beginningless Father, and His Most Holy and Good and Life-Giving Spirit now, and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 10? I, to the Most Holy Theotokos

Good Mother of the Good King, Most Pure and Blessed Mother of God Mary, pour out the mercy of Your Son and our Lord on my restless soul and with Your prayers guide me to good deeds, so that the remaining days of my life will go without blemish and through You I will find paradise, Virgin Mary, one Pure and Blessed.

Prayer 11? I, to the holy guardian angel

Angel of Christ, my holy guardian and protector of my soul and body, forgive me everything in which I have sinned today. And deliver me from every deceit of the enemy attacking me, so that I would not anger my God with any sin: but pray for me, a sinful and unworthy slave, to make me worthy of the goodness and mercy of the All-Holy Trinity and the Mother of my Lord Jesus Christ and all the saints. Amen.

Kontakion to the Theotokos

To you, Zealous Intercessor, having got rid of troubles, we sing a song of victory and thanksgiving, Thy servants, Mother of God. You, having invincible power, free us from all troubles, let us call you: rejoice, Bride of the Ever-Virgin.

Glorious Eternal Virgin, Mother of Christ our God, bring our prayer to Your Son and our God, may our souls be saved by You.

I place all my hope in You, Mother of God, keep me under Your protection.

Virgin Mary, do not reject me, a sinner who needs Your help and Your intercession, for my soul trusts in You, and have mercy on me.

Prayer of St. Joannicius

My hope is the Father, my refuge is the Son, my protection is the Holy Spirit: Holy Trinity, glory to Thee.

It is worthy to glorify You, the true Mother of God, eternally blessed and immaculate and the Mother of our Lord. Honor the most honest of the Cherubim and the glory of the most glorious of the Seraphim, who gave birth to the Word of God without blemish, we magnify you the true Mother of God.

Glory, and now

Lord have mercy. ( thrice)

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother, our reverend and God-bearing fathers and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.

Prayer of Saint John of Damascus

Vladyka Lover of mankind, will this bed be a coffin for me, or will you illuminate my unfortunate soul in the daytime? Here is my coffin, here is my death. I am afraid of Your judgment, Lord, and endless torment, but I do not stop doing evil. I always anger you, the Lord and my God, and Your Most Pure Mother, and all Heavenly Forces and my holy guardian angel. I know, Lord, that I am not worthy of Thy love for mankind, but I am worthy of all condemnation and torment. But, Lord, whether I want to or not, save me. After all, if you save the righteous, there is nothing great in it. And if you have mercy on the pure, there is nothing marvelous in this - they are worthy of Your mercy. But on me, a sinner, show Thy wondrous mercy and manifest Thy philanthropy, may my malice not overcome Thy immeasurable goodness and mercy, and whatever You want, do with me.

Revive and strengthen me, O Christ God, lest I fall asleep in the sleep of death, lest my enemy say that he has defeated me.

Glory: Be the intercessor of my soul, O God, for I walk in the midst of many snares, deliver me from them and save me, Good and Lover of mankind.

And now: The Most Glorious Mother of God, surpassing the holy angels in holiness, we incessantly sing with heart and mouth, confessing Her Theotokos, who truly gave birth to God incarnate to us, and praying unceasingly for our souls.

Mark yourself with the cross and say a prayer to the Holy Cross

Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered, and let those who hate Him flee from His face. As smoke disappears, let them disappear, as wax melts before the fire, so let the demons perish on behalf of those who love God, and overshadow themselves with the sign of the Cross, and exclaim with joy: Rejoice, Most Honorable and Life-Giving Cross Lord, driving away demons by the power of our Lord Jesus Christ crucified on you, who descended into hell and destroyed the power of the devil, and gave us His Holy Cross to repulse any adversary. O Most Honorable and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, help me with the Holy Lady of the Virgin Mary and with all the saints forever, amen.

Or briefly:

Protect me, Lord, by the power of Your Honorable and Life-Giving Cross and save me from all evil.

Prayer for forgiveness of sins

Weaken, leave, forgive, God, our sins, voluntary and involuntary, in word and in deed, in knowledge and in ignorance, in days and nights, in mind and thought. Forgive us everything, for You are Good and Humanitarian.

Prayer

Forgive those who hate and offend us, Lord Lover of mankind. Do good to those who do good. Grant to our brothers and relatives the fulfillment of petitions for salvation and eternal life. Visit the sick and grant healing. Help those at sea. Accompany travelers. Grant forgiveness to those who serve and pardon us of sins. Those who instructed us, the unworthy, to pray for them, have mercy on Your great mercy. Remember, Lord, our departed fathers and brothers, and give them rest where the light of Your face shines. Remember, Lord, our brothers and sisters who are in prison, and deliver them from every misfortune. Remember, Lord, those who bring the fruits of their labors to Your holy Churches, and do good in them, and fulfill their petitions for salvation and grant them eternal life. Remember, Lord, also us, Thy humble and sinful and unworthy servants, and enlighten our minds with the light of Thy mind, and guide us on the path of Thy commandments, through the prayers of our Most Pure Lady Theotokos and the eternal Virgin Mary, and all Thy saints, for You are blessed forever and ever. Amen.

Confession of sins everyday

I confess to You, the Lord my God and Creator, in the Holy Trinity, the one, glorified and worshiped Father and Son and the Holy Spirit, all my sins committed all the days of my life, and at every hour and now, and in the past days and nights – deed, word, thought, overeating, drunkenness, breaking the fast, idle talk, despondency, laziness, bickering, disobedience, slander, indifference, condemnation, pride, greed, theft, lies, defilement, greed, jealousy, envy, anger, vindictiveness, hatred, greed and all my senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch - and my other sins of soul and body, with which I angered You, my God and Creator, and offended my neighbor. Repenting of them, I stand guilty before You, my God, and I want to repent. But only, Lord, my God, with tears I humbly ask You: help me. Forgive me my past sins by Your mercy and free me from everything that I have expressed before You, for You are Good and Humanitarian.

When you go to sleep say:

Into Your hands, Lord Jesus Christ, my God, I commend my spirit. Bless me, have mercy on me, and grant me eternal life. Amen.
