• 3 meters of fabric (it is better to take dense material).
• Fiberboard for creating shelves.
• Narrow bodice or lace for ties (can be sewn from fabric).
• Threads.

• Ripper.
• Tailor pins.
• A piece of chalk or remnant.
• Iron.

We recommend that you take a sufficiently strong material for the base, which could withstand the possible load and not break. Depending on what things and objects you plan to store in this design, use three-layer cardboard or plywood as shelves. Such hanging shelves made of fabric are sewn by hand without first making a pattern. Therefore, all measurements are applied directly to the material, that is, you do not need paper.

Pattern

In order to assemble the shelf, we need to prepare the following details:

• 1 main piece measuring 1160 x 1350 cm.
• One detail for the upper and lower tier - 1040 by 330 cm.
• 6 parts for shelves - 520 by 310 cm.
• Fixing putty - 280 by 320 cm.

Important! The pattern is given taking into account all allowances. From above and below the central part of the structure, we took 2 cm increments, and on the side sections - 1 cm each.

Sewing technique:

1. Laying out the fabric front side down on flat surface. We draw details on it with chalk, starting work with the main one. As a result, we get 2 rectangular parts of the side walls of the rack, one part of the back wall and 8 parts for the shelves.
2. We measure the location of the shelves on the main long segment, and then we draw and cut out all the other details in size.
3. We turn and stitch the front vertical edges of the part on the wrong side to a width of 10 cm, laying a line to the very edge of the fabric. We process in this way one horizontal side of each part of the shelf.
4. We return to the main detail. We tuck the horizontal sections (the width of the outer hem is 15 mm, the inner hem is 5 mm) and trimmed. We fold the main part alternately with the front side outward along the marked lines for sewing on the shelves, and then iron it. We put inside the horizontal cut of each shelf and sew on the front side of the great detail. The stitch should pass 5 mm from the fabric fold. It must be started and finished, not reaching 1 cm to the walls of the rack.
5. Following the previous steps, we sew the details of the shelves to the sides of the largest piece of fabric, finishing sewing at the border of the horizontal seam.
6. Fold the loop in half with the right side inside the fabric. We grind the sections, leaving a small hole for future eversion. We turn the part on the front side, iron and sew up the not completely closed seam manually. Attach the loop to the edge. Sew loops on one end of the buttonhole.
7. We turn away the short sections of the components of the top and bottom to the wrong side, iron, stitch the edge. We fold the parts in half with the outer side inward so that we get a fold along one short side. We grind the sidewalls, laying a line at a distance of 8-10 mm from the cut. We cut the seam allowances to a width of 5 mm. We turn the part inside out, straighten the corners and iron the edges.
8. Now let's start assembling the whole structure. We arrange the upper and lower parts so that the fold goes to the front of the rack.
9. We fold the upper cut of the lid and the bottom with the back wall of the main part with the right sides towards each other. We lay a line, iron the allowance for the bottom and the cover of the rack. We tuck and stitch the bottom of the bottom and top.
10. We pick up one side and the main side of the rack and sweep them together. We tuck the free sections of the bottom and lid, then adjust them, capturing the allowance of the main part and upper layer material. This is how we formed pockets for duplicate shelving elements.
11. We sew a patch to the cover, sewing the buttons on the same level with the loops. We also processed and stitched the side pockets, but this is optional.
12. Now we are working with plywood. We process blanks sandpaper rounding sharp corners. We put duplicate elements in the lower and upper tiers of the rack. We hang the shelf on the bracket. We throw a stalemate through it, and after that we fasten it with buttons.
13. We decorate the shelf with braid, lace and beads, again, at will.

Important! If you want to make all the shelves rigid, then put the same rigid plywood in them as in the top and bottom of the fabric cabinet.

DIY textile wardrobe from plastic bottles

We sew shelves from fabric

• We started by taking three 5-liter bottles and cutting off their upper part, which goes to narrow. You need to trim diagonally so that when connected, we get one angle of inclination.
• Using double-sided tape, we glue the plastic bottles together as tightly as possible, observing the same cut line.
• We begin to sew a contour cover for our shelves, which will decorate our homemade design. The cover will consist of an outer and inside since we took transparent plastic bottles.

• We cut out the outer and inner parts in the same way: one middle part and two side ones. The width of the central part is equal to the width of the bottom of the plastic shelves, and the length is the distance from the edge of the topmost shelf to the bottom of the bottommost one.
• The sidewall pattern is very simple. We impose the connected plastic shelves on the fabric and circle their contour. It turned out a rectangular parallelepiped, which will become our sidewalls.

Important! Don't forget to add a few inches of seam allowance.

• We connect the details of the top and the details of the lining. We iron the seams. We put the lining inside the outer part of the cover and, using an iron, prepare them for the connecting seam. Try to iron the hem so that the top of the hem protrudes 0.5 cm beyond the inner hem. So we will create a piping around the entire perimeter of our case.

At the third stage, you can start processing the received blanks. The resulting segments should be covered with a special protective varnish or stain, after sanding them.

In the event that you plan only to paint the shelf, you can get by with a conventional antiseptic primer. So you will increase not only the service life, but also achieve a more even distribution of paint.

At the fourth stage of making a wooden shelf with your own hands, you proceed to its direct assembly. The bottom board should be laid on a flat surface. Step back 8 mm from the ends of the workpiece and draw two lines parallel to the cuts.

Materials and tools

Some models require sufficiently dense walls that hold their shape. In this case, the side parts are cut out in the form of a pocket, inside which a piece of cardboard cut to size is inserted. But cardboard can be replaced with a non-adhesive dense dublerin or a “board” fabric. Then the part from the duplicate fabric is cut out in the same way as the main part, they are folded together and swept away. And then they are processed as a single element. Dublerin can be replaced with a bando gasket, which is used when sewing hard lambrequins.

Hanging bathroom shelves should be made of water-repellent material, otherwise damp fabric will cause fungus.

A shelf sewn in the form of a rack is most conveniently used for storing clothes or bed linen, diapers. It fits comfortably in a wardrobe or built-in wardrobe. It can be hung on the crossbar, on which the "hangers" with outerwear are placed.

• 1 main part, size 1160*1350 mm;
• 1 detail of the upper and lower bottom - 1040 * 330 cm;

• fastening loop - 280 * 320 mm.

To make a hanging shelf, you need 3 m of fabric (this parameter may change if you make your changes to the pattern). For the main part, it is wiser to take a very dense material. For example, denim. If you want the lid and bottom to be not too rigid, then replace the cardboard with thin plywood.

Pattern allowances are provided. Above and below the central part of the product, they are 2 cm, on the other sections - 1 cm each.

Tailoring of a soft shelf

Lay the fabric face down. Using chalk, mark the details on it, starting with the main one. Required dimensions shown in the diagram. The rectangles labeled ABBA and CDDC represent the side walls of the rack. Accordingly, the lines BB and SS are the fold of the fabric (the corners of the future shelf). Mark the location of future shelves (lines from Z 1 Z 1 to Z 6 Z 6). Cut out the main element, and then draw and cut out the rest of the details in size.

Housewives who love needlework will appreciate this device for storing small things.

Turn the front vertical sections of the part to the wrong side to a width of 10 mm and stitch, laying the line close to the edge. Treat one side of the horizontal side of each piece of the shelf in the same way.

Return to the main detail. Fold in the horizontal seams (hem width 15 mm, inside hem 5 mm) and stitch. Alternately fold the main part along the marked sewing lines of the shelves with the right side out and iron. This will make it easier to sew parts. Put the horizontal cut of each shelf inside the fold and stitch on the front side of the main part, grabbing the shelves. Make sure that the stitching runs 5 mm from the fold of the fabric. The line must be started and finished without reaching the corner (shelving walls) 1 cm. In the same way, stitch the details of the shelves to the sides of the main element, ending the line exactly at the horizontal seam.

Fold the loop in half, right side in. Stitch all the cuts, leaving a small area for eversion. Turn the piece right side out, iron and sew up the open seam (this is best done by hand). Sew the loop to the edge, process the buttonholes at one end.

Turn the short sections of the details of the top and bottom to the wrong side (by 10 mm), iron and stitch to the edge. Fold the elements in half, right side inward so that you have a fold along one short side. Sew the sidewalls by laying a line at a distance of 10 mm from the cut. Cut seam allowances to a width of 5 mm. Turn the part inside out, straightening the corners, and iron the edges.

Construction assembly

Position the top and bottom pieces so that their fold faces the front of the shelving unit.

Fold the long top section of the lid and bottom with the back wall of the main part, right sides together. Lay the stitch down, ironing the bottom and lid allowance. Tuck the lower part of the bottom and lid and stitch.

Take together the long side of the parts and the corresponding side of the main element. Sweep them together. Tuck the loose sections of the bottom and lid, stitch them, grabbing the allowance of the main part and the top layer of fabric. Thus, pockets for duplicate elements are formed.

Stitch the stalemate to the lid, sewing the buttons to the stitched end so that they coincide with the loops. Finish and stitch the side pockets if desired.

Process plywood blanks with sandpaper, round the corners. Insert duplicate parts into the top and bottom shelving unit. Now the shelf can be hung on the bracket. Throw a stalemate over it and fasten with buttons. Additionally, the shelf can be decorated with braid, lace, beads and tassels. If you want the shelves to be quite rigid too, then treat them in the same way as the top and bottom of the shelving unit. Then put a hard pad inside.

Shelf for newspapers and magazines

To make an original shelf for storing newspapers and magazines, you will need 2 wooden crossbars.

As the crossbars, you can take curtain rods. And the holders for the cornices will serve as fasteners for this design. In addition, you will need the main and lining fabric. Its consumption depends on the dimensions of the shelf. In the example shown, the length of the shelf is 1.5 m, and the depth is 0.5 m. When calculating the required amount of material, you must also take into account the allowance for the drawstring for threading the crossbars. It should be equal to the diameter of the beam plus 2 cm for a loose fit. Allowances for all cuts are 1 cm. And another 1.5 cm for stitching the drawstring. We get the following calculation:

To make a fabric shelf for books, magazines and newspapers, you will need wooden crossbars, brackets or holders for fastening and fabric.

Shelf depth + girth of the beam + 2 cm + allowance for attaching the drawstring + allowance for hem = 50 + 15 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 70 cm.

Thus, the height of the upper and lower parts will be 70 cm, and the width will be 152 cm (main width + hem allowances).

Cut out the details from the main and lining fabric. On the front side, mark the allowances for the drawstring and its stitching. Fold the main and duplicate parts right sides together. Sew them around the perimeter to a width of 1 cm from the cut. Leave a small gap in the seam to turn inside out.

Turn the part right side out, carefully straightening the corners. Sew up the remaining open area by hand. Iron the fabrics and stitch along the entire perimeter at a distance of 0.5 cm from the edge (for this you can use threads in a contrasting color). According to the markings for the belt loop, bend the fabric and sew, forming a pocket. Hanging shelf is ready. It remains to thread the beams into the loops and fix them on the wall.

To do this, mark the places for fastening and drill the wall by installing dowels in the holes. Make sure that the sockets are 1 mm smaller than the dowel. Fix the brackets with self-tapping screws. Install the beams with the shelf put on them. You can build a similar shelf, but instead of a drawstring, make loops as described in the instructions for the rack. If you are creating decor for a children's room, then the cover can be decorated with bright and funny applications.

The shelf is textile. In my case, to store used shoes in a closet. A piece of fabric was used, the remains of old jeans. The shelves are sewn like pockets. For rigidity, two cartons cut from the boxes in which these shoes lay were inserted into the shelves for rigidity.

Pipe fastening system.

I sewed horizontal stripes on the upper shelf and the shelf in the middle, it turned out something like a loop. You can put scarves in it and just close all the "good". At the same time, keep scarves on hand. Which also turned out to be very convenient.

And now the master class, which I downloaded somewhere. However, I did change something. For example, plywood has become cardboard, the size has also changed. I attached the shelf to the pipe with cotton tape. My shelf is smaller, but in this version it is quite roomy.

short sides. Fold in half for hanging (= 28 x 16 cm) front
side inward, grind the sections, leaving a small area for eversion
open. Turn the part inside out, iron the edges, open area sew by hand.
Stitch along the edges, acc. Sweep 3 loops in places and sew on buttons.
On short sections of the bottom, perform a double
hem 1 cm wide. Fold the part in half with the front side inward (one
short side - fold), stitch side cuts at a distance of 1 cm. Allowances
cut the seams to a width of 4 mm, turn the part inside out, iron the edges. bottom (fold =

hem along the A-B line, aligning the side seam with it (seam allowances = 0.5 cm). By
stitch the bottom lines C-D in the same way. On the back side to the main part along
lines B-C, sew only the top layer of the bottom. Cover the same way
bottom. Sew a pat on the top layer so that the clasp is on the side.
When sewing the cover on the back side, grab only its bottom layer.
The edges of plywood parts are well processed with emery
paper and, rounding the corners, put in a double bottom and lid. hang a shelf
on the shackle to the bracket.

You know, now they sell so many beautiful wardrobes, lockers and other “houses” for things, as much as a head is spinning from such a huge selection. But inside they are all as one - not very comfortable. Maybe they were made without taking into account our realities. Or maybe, for some unknown reason, but they are not convenient. And we can fix it on our own. Today I bring to your attention a project that corrects this injustice called "We equip the closet: shelves made of fabric and plastic bottles."

From the name you can understand what is needed for the implementation of this project, we will need fabric and plastic bottles, but let's write it in a column for order:

1. Fabric cuts of 2 colors - 1m x 60 cm
2. Plastic 5 liter bottles - 3 pieces
3. Threads (can be contrasting)
4. Sewing machine
5. Scissors and see tape
6. Scotch

I have listed everything that I used when creating the shelves. Now I will describe what and how I did.

I started by taking 3 five-liter plastic bottles and cutting them off, cutting off the part tapering to the top. But not in a straight line, but slightly diagonally. Look at the photo.

And so, why did I do it. Yes, so that by connecting them together, the shelves would turn out at an angle. The bottom of the shelf is slightly lower than the entrance. I hope the photo will add clarity to my thoughts.

By the way, I will share with you a secret that helped me quickly and without the use of glue to connect the shelves, I would even say to make them and see if it turned out as planned.

How to quickly and cheaply make double-sided tape using ordinary tape.

Double sided tape is ready! It holds very well and is not visible even when connecting transparent plastic bottles!

Having fastened the shelves together, we can not only admire the future creation of our hands, but also measure them in order to proceed to the next step - sewing a contour cover for the shelves. So it will be neater and more beautiful. Moreover, I consider it necessary, since the shelves will help keep order and comfort in the children's locker!

The cover will consist of an outer and inner part, since the bottles are transparent, and I do not want the underside of the product to be visible through them. I will cut the upper and inner parts of the cover in the same way 1 middle part and 2 sidewalls. The width of the middle part is equal to the width of the bottom of the shelves, and I measured the length with a centimeter tape, starting from the cut edge of the top shelf, through the back surface of all three shelves and to the entrance of the bottom shelf.

Sidewall cutting is even easier. Lay the fastened shelves on the fabric and circle their outline. This rectangular parallelepiped will be the sidewalls. Don't forget to allow a couple of inches for the seams!

Now even easier. Connect the details of the top, then the details of the lining. Iron the seams. Insert the lining inside the outer part of the cover and use an iron to prepare them for the connecting seam (see photo).

I ironed the hem so that the upper part extended 0.5 cm beyond the inside, thus creating a piping around the entire perimeter of the cover.

Little digression! Even before connecting the details of the upper part of the cover, I prepared in advance a narrow and long strip, which then became fancy loops for fixing the shelves on the inner hooks of the cabinet.

All work completed. It remains only to put the plastic shelves in a fabric cover. It took a little more than half a day to make a shelf from fabric and plastic bottles (this is taking into account the photography of the manufacturing process), and the result will please me and my loved ones for a long time to come!

For the convenience of photography, I hung the finished shelf, fixing it to the wallpaper with a simple needle! Before that, a light shelf turned out!
