Connecting smart TVs to a computer network. How to connect your TV to a wireless Wi-Fi network

  • 19.10.2019

I was thinking that I already wrote about connecting the TV to the World Wide Web. But I’ll write about how to access the Internet from an LG TV that has a Smart TV function. Perhaps, this article will seem to someone too simple, and not necessary. But I'm sure a lot of people will find it useful.

Practically, from all TVs that can connect to the Internet and have the Smart TV function, you can visit websites, access social networks, read Twitter, etc. Yes, yes, even VKontakte can be accessed from the TV while lying on the couch. Here they are - technologies 🙂

I will write this article using the LG TV as an example. (Model LG 32LN575U, but it doesn't matter).

A few words about the browser

The browser built into LG TVs is quite decent. He even knows how to play Flash. But he's there, to play banners, nothing more. A video on some site, or a game on a social network, will work. But, most likely, after a while an error will appear:, or something like that.

Navigation, functionality, browser speed, are, as I already wrote, at a decent level. Like for TV.

How to control surfing the Internet from the TV?

Can be controlled from the remote remote control which was included. But, it's not very convenient. Then I remembered surfing the Internet from the usual mobile phone, which with buttons (ah, nostalgia 🙂). Control the TV browser with the remote, it's about the same.

It is best, of course, to connect a keyboard and mouse to the TV. Better yet, a wireless keyboard and mouse. Such management will be the most convenient. If these devices are not available, then you can control the TV browser from your phone or tablet. Which works on Andriod, or iOS.

And yet, you can buy a proprietary LG Magic Remote. From which to manage the browsing of sites, it will be very convenient. At least that's how it seems to me 🙂 . The last two methods are only suitable for LG TVs.

Connecting the TV to the Internet

It is clear that in order to view sites through Smart TV, the TV itself must be connected to the Internet. It can be via cable, or via Wi-Fi, if possible. I wrote more about the connection in separate articles:

If everything is fine with the connection, then you can proceed to launching the browser and visiting sites.

We visit sites from LG TV (Smart TV)

First, go to Smart TV (by pressing a special, blue button on the remote control). Then, at the bottom, select and launch the browser” Internet“.

Please note that on home page Smart TV, the icon that displays the status of the Internet connection, should be green. This means that the Internet is working, and you can continue.

After launching the browser, you can immediately click on the address bar, and using the keyboard, enter the address of the site you want to visit. Or, enter a search query. To confirm the transition to the address, press the button Go on the virtual keyboard, or using the cursor, select one of the options that pop up from the bottom.

A site will open, or search results that you can view, follow links, etc. Everything is like on a computer.

In the lower right corner, it will display “ Mini TV“. You can browse websites and watch TV at the same time. If this window bothers you, you can close it. Hover over it and click on the cross that appears. To return “Mini TV”, press the button in the form of a TV on the top control panel.

You can open many tabs at the same time. Just click on the green cross to open another tab. In this tab, by default, a panel opens, which displays thumbnails of the pages of the most visited sites. A bit higher (below the address bar), the tabbed panel is displayed.

When you open a site and want to bookmark it, just click on the corresponding button, which I showed in the screenshot below.

In order to open browser settings, history, bookmark manager and help, just click on the appropriate button and select the desired item. Also, you can turn on the view in full screen, zoom in, and close the browser.

In the settings, you can select the start page, search engine by default, always show the bookmarks bar, disable Flash, etc.

I just want to give you one piece of advice. I have already met articles on the Internet several times that a vulnerability was discovered in Smart TV, though on Samsung TVs. The data that was entered on the TV could get to intruders. I now have to enter passwords to various sites, and even worse, payment data.

I hope this vulnerability has been fixed now. But, do not forget that Smart TV on any TV is a new and still a little raw technology. So, for now, it’s better not to pay for various services through the TV, and not to enter your payment details. For this, it is better to use a computer.

How to access the Internet from an LG Smart TV? Browsing websites on TV updated: February 7, 2018 by: admin

Today, no one can surprise anyone with a TV with Smart TV technology and a built-in WiFi network card (wi-fi) for accessing the Internet. Many users ask how to properly connect a TV to the Internet via a Wi Fi (Wi-Fi) network?

First of all, you need to set up Internet distribution via Wi Fi (wi-fi) on your modem or router (set access attributes, passwords). Then you can go to the TV settings. Everything here is actually very simple and easy.

Next, I will use the Samsung TV as an example. To configure on the remote, press the "Menu" button and in the window that opens, go to the "Network" subsection, where you need to select the next menu item "Network settings".

After that, the TV itself will offer to search for available connections, to do this, click "Start". After that, we need to select the type of network with which we will configure our connection (cable, wireless, and others). In our case, you need to select "Wireless" and then click "Next".

The TV automatically searches for wireless networks. Next, the TV offers a choice of choosing one of the available networks, select the desired one and enter the password (network access key).

Further, in 99% of the settings occur automatically, but if this did not happen, then you need to register IP addresses in accordance with the requirements of your network manually by going to the “IP Settings” item.

After completing the settings, we exit the menu and press the "Smart" button and enjoy the capabilities of the TV on the Internet.

Congratulations, you have now successfully learned how to connect your TV to the Internet via Wi Fi (wi-fi). You can freely use and enjoy interesting programs.

Depending on the manufacturer, smart TVs have different connection interfaces, which can be divided into the following categories:

USB port. It serves to connect external hard drives, flash drives, USB Wi-Fi adapters (more expensive models equipped with built-in Wi-Fi);
Ethernet port. This port is used to connect a wired network through a twisted pair network wire (patch cord);
HDMI port. It serves to transmit high-definition video (Full HD resolution);

D-SUB connector to work as a computer monitor.
Of course, you can not do without the usual RF in antenna input for cable TV. Recently, obsolete SCART ports, CI slots and composite connectors (bells) have been abandoned.

Connecting to a router

So, we have the following scheme - an ADLS channel enters the apartment, the connector of which is connected to some multi-port router, to which a computer is connected to access the Internet. The router is equipped with a Wi-Fi adapter. Our goal is to connect the TV to this router so that both the TV and the computer (or several computers, it doesn’t matter) have access to the network.

home network
There are at least two connection options - via an Ethernet port (wired), or via Wi-Fi (wireless). Let's look at the wired connection first.

TV Ethernet connection

We take the router in hand, and look at the back panel.

Rear panel of the router
Find LAN ports. They are usually signed.

Attention! The back panel of your particular router may differ from the one shown here, it all depends on the manufacturer and model, but you always need to look for the LAN port, it is on all models.
It may happen that there is only one LAN port, and it is already busy. In this case, we use a hub and a switch to "multiply" the port.

Patch cord
Turn on both devices. On the TV remote control, press the "Settings" button. Select the "Network" menu item, then the "Network settings: wired" submenu.

First step in network setup
Wired Network Setup Step 1
On the remote, click "OK", and proceed to the second step - setting the network address of the TV.

Wired Network Setup Step 2

The IP address can also be configured manually, but this is only necessary in rare cases when the computer network requires it (static address, non-standard subnet mask, etc.). If such requirements are not put forward, then feel free to set the “Auto IP Configuration” mode, and the TV itself will coordinate its address with the router without your participation.

The same applies to the DNS server - we leave it on auto-configuration. Click "OK".

Everything, a wired connection is established, you can access the Internet directly from the TV by launching the built-in web browser.

Wi-Fi TV connection

But much easier to install. wireless network WiFi. It is more convenient in many respects - there are no wires spoiling the interior, the setting is done without getting up from the sofa, in some cases the transmission speed is higher (standard "n"). Consider how to connect a TV to a router via Wi-Fi.

First of all, read the instructions for the TV, whether it is equipped with a wireless Wi-Fi module. If yes - lucky, if not - you need to purchase a separate Wi-Fi adapter.

Wi-Fi adapter for smart TV
We connect it to any USB smart TV adapter.

First step in network setup
Wireless network setup step 1
The TV will offer several options for further settings.

Setting up a wireless network, step 2

There are three options in total:
"Setting from the list of access points (AP)". This option requires knowledge of your access point, since when you select it, you will need to enter the name of the wireless network and additional parameters;
« Easy Installation(WPS button mode)". The most convenient continuation of the setup. When you select it, the TV itself will start searching for all available Wi-Fi networks, from the list of which you can select the one you need;

"Network configuration ". Direct TV connection to home computer without Internet access. For example, to view movies or photos stored on a computer.
When you select the second item, a list of available networks will appear, select the one you need.

Wireless network setup step 3

If the wireless network is password protected, a window will appear asking you to enter it.

Setting up a wireless network, step 4

Click "OK". Everything, the wireless connection is established.

Connection difficulties

In this section, we will consider the possible difficulties of connecting via Wi-Fi.

The first possible trouble is that you can’t set up Wi-Fi. To troubleshoot, we take any wireless device (laptop, smartphone, tablet), and install it on it software for direct connection to a TV. This software is available on the TV installation disk, or can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website. For example, for a Samsung TV, such a program is called AllShare. After installing the software, we try to connect directly to the TV (the third item in the menu). If it works - Wi-Fi is in order, if not - the conclusion suggests itself.

The second reason is that on some TV models, the automatic network search function is disabled. Read the instructions carefully and check this parameter.

The third reason is that the network is installed, but there is no Internet access. Check the DHCP server on the router, try turning it off and setting the TV to a manual IP address - IP address 192.168.1.2, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, gateway # router address #.

The third reason is to make sure that the purchased Wi-Fi adapter is really compatible with your TV model.

And the last, universal, advice - try turning off and on again both the TV and the router, at times it helps to adequately detect each other.

Connection setup

First, you need to decide what the TV will be connected to. You must have access to the Internet in the room via wired or wireless (Wi-Fi).

So, let's move on to the settings.

Remote Control

By pressing the MENU button on the remote control, you will go to the TV settings section. The control is carried out by the arrows on the remote control, between them there is a confirmation (enter) key. We are interested in the "Network" item.

Setting up a TV connection to the network

Go to "Network Settings". First of all, you need to choose which network the device will be connected to: wireless (Wi-Fi) or wired (Ethernet cable).

Connection via cable

If your TV has a socket for connecting a LAN cable, you can connect to a router (router) and thus access the "Internet".

LAN Ethernet connection Twisted pair

So the cable is connected. In the network settings, after selecting the connection, click the "Connect" button.

If successful, a window will appear indicating that the connection has been established.

Internet connection established

If there is a cable connector, and the TV is not SMART, then you can connect to a local network and use a computer as a storage for video and audio files. The DLNA service is configured on the computer and it becomes possible to use this storage from the TV.

Connecting via Wi-Fi (wireless)

If you have a wireless connection available, then after selecting this item, a list of available networks will appear on the screen. Select the required one and confirm with the enter key.

Selecting a WI-fi network

Nowadays, most Wi-Fi networks are already protected with passwords. (network broadcast icon with lock). Therefore, you must enter the correct password to connect. This is done in the keyboard window that appears on the TV screen.

Entering the Wi-Fi password

After completing the input, click the "Finish" button. If everything went well, then in front of you, as well as when using a wire, a window will appear about connecting to the Internet.

Internet services for TV (channels, weather, Skype)

After successfully connecting to the Internet, you can use all the features of SMART TV. Samsung TVs have a multi-colored SMART HUB button on the remote control for this.

By clicking on it and going to the overview window, you will see a list of installed channels, games, applications, social networks on the screen.

List of SMART TV apps

The list includes video services Youtube, IVI, Zoomby and others. Channels such as STS, NTV, First, Domashny, music channels and more are presented.

Music channels

Channels usually do not use online broadcasting, but in library mode, where you can select the desired program, series or movie to watch.

Some applications allow you to listen to radio stations.

Paying for a channel subscription

Many channels are free (periodically you have to watch ads). For others, you need to subscribe, pay for it using the proposed methods and watch without restrictions.

Additional bonuses

As an additional application, there is a program on the TV that can alert the owner of the house via the Internet about movement within the range of the camera built into the TV (an external camera will have to be purchased separately).

Thus, the TV is now increasingly replacing the computer. Given the ability to connect a wireless keyboard and mouse, the differences from working on a computer will be minimal.

February 13, 2015 19:13

In this article, we will look at how to add a TV to the local network. Yes Yes, modern technology reached the point that we can connect an ordinary TV to the Internet, on which we watch television programs. Earlier we talked about the need for our TV to have wifi support or internet support. And now this is not even necessary, since technology has reached the point that absolutely any TV can be connected to the local network, even the simplest and oldest one, which was released 20 years ago, the main thing is that it has the appropriate connector. You may have a reasonable question: why do you need Internet on a TV? What if you want to watch a movie online in good resolution and the internet allows. Or it may turn out that you need it for work, let's say you want to submit a promotion report to employees, seo site optimization. It turns out that in this case, you can do without a projector. Or even for yourself personally - on the big screen you can simultaneously observe many processes: promotion analytics, internal and external optimization, testing, and so on.

So, what TVs and with what means can be connected to a local network?

Method 1. TV with built-in WiFi.

This is the most expensive option, as TVs with built-in wifi modules are the most expensive. As a rule, they have support for SmartTV technology. Additional devices to connect the TV to the Internet are not needed. By itself, it can find your wifi network, connect to the router and go online.

Method 2. TV with external USB WiFi adapter.

These TVs do not have a built-in WiFi module. To compare the cost, let's say that the price of a TV with a built-in WiFi module (adapter) is approximately equal to the cost of a TV without an adapter plus the cost of the WiFi adapter itself.

Choosing a WiFi adapter for a TV
Quite often they ask which WiFi adapter you need to purchase in order to connect a TV that does not have a built-in WiFi module. It should be a Wireless LAN Adapter, its box should indicate what brand of TV it was made for. The fact is that you need to buy only original WiFi adapters. That is, if you have a Samsung TV, then you need to look for an adapter for Samsung, if LG, then, accordingly, LG also produces WiFi adapters for its TVs.
First of all, your TV must support a WiFi adapter, which should be indicated in the instructions for the TV, where its specifications are indicated. Secondly, the WiFi adapter must match your TV model.

WiFi adapter package:

  1. Adapter (has the size of a USB modem).
  2. Adapter (allows you to tilt the adapter in the desired direction).

How to determine that this adapter is suitable for our TV model? We look at the box to the adapter, or look at the instructions - we find out the adapter model and browse the Internet for a list of TV models that fit it. Also, this information should be indicated in the instructions among the main characteristics (what year of manufacture should the TV be and with what marking, what series).
If you have a TV, let's say, 2013, and the adapter is 2012, then there is no guarantee that it will work. You should also be wary of third-party universal adapters (that support multiple TVs).

Step by step connection:

  • We connect to the Internet from the TV. For this
  • Press the "Menu" button on the TV remote control and go to the "Network" section, Network Settings. Here you must connect your external adapter. If you have it built-in, then accordingly it is automatically recognized. Press the "Start" button, which will start searching for a wireless router.
  • From the list of proposed routers, select our router (by name), click "next".
  • Enter the security key (password) to access wifi. You can do this using the remote control or using a mouse or keyboard connected to the TV port. We press "next". The wireless connection is being tested.

If it didn’t automatically connect (perhaps you have manually entered IP addresses on the router), then go to “IP Settings” (a button on the screen) and set the settings manually. You can try clicking "Receive automatically" and then "OK". That's it, the connection is configured. Now you can go to SmartTV and work with the Internet.

How to manually enter IP address settings?

If you want to configure the connection between the computer and the TV in more detail, if you want to set up port forwarding, then you must manually set the IP addresses. So, first we set the IP address of the gateway (this is our router and we write its IP address here). The same for the DNS server (this is also the IP address of the router). Next, we must select an IP address and enter it in the appropriate field from the range of IP addresses that were specified in the settings of the routers for distribution. Therefore, first go to the router settings and see what IP addresses you have set. We press OK. The network is connected.
Now you can exit to the main window. We press the SmartTV button (colored button in the center of the remote control), go here, for example, to a web browser and check how well our network works.
This sets up the connection of the TV to our wireless LAN.

Method 3. The TV has Internet support, then it does not have WiFi support

This type of TV does not have a built-in WiFi module and does not support WiFi connection adapter. However, they have a LAN for connecting an internet cable. How to connect such a TV to the Internet? Connect the TV with a cable to our router (like any other computer). However, in this article we are talking about wireless Internet, so we will try to explain how to connect to a wireless network.
So, if you have a TV of this type, then you can connect it to another WiFi router that has a client operating mode (that is, it will receive a signal from your main WiFi router and will use it to access the Internet). You set up this router in the “client” mode (we have already told you how to do this), connect it to the TV. So your TV will already have WiFi mode.

Connecting with Android Mini PC TV

There is another option for connecting such a TV to the Internet - the most technologically advanced and the newest. Get Android Mini PC TV - this is a special small computer (it has the size of a USB modem in the form of a small box). It connects to the TV with a special cable. More expensive models have a cable to connect to the ports of older TVs. Now you select this device as the signal source on the TV and a window with many icons appears on your monitor, as if it were a tablet. The TV turns into a large tablet. Then you can connect a keyboard, mouse to the TV and use these input devices to navigate through applications - everything is exactly the same as on a tablet. You can install various Android programs and so on on your Android Mini PC TV minicomputer. Through the same menu you connect to the Internet.

I practically don’t watch TV, except if I use it as a monitor 🙂 But the other day it became necessary to pay attention to what it shows and how it shows. There was a need to provide children with quality cartoons, as opposed to what was played on satellite TV channels mixed with adult advertising.

I set out to transfer a picture from the Internet directly to the TV, in such a way that it would not interfere with my work at the computer. The problem was complicated by the fact that on my TV there is such a thing as " Smart TV"- did not exist, so it was supposed to use a computer with Internet access as a link.

"Smart TV"appeared recently, their main function is not only watching TV, but also accessing the Internet. Of course, for this they (TVs) have a built-in web browser. I chose a movie on some site and watch it!

On my TV Samsung UE-32D5000 no web browser. It is impossible to choose a movie to watch from the network on your own. The TV has a function (useless) to access the Internet for ... updating the firmware (I doubt that anyone will ever use it).

Began to dig towards AllShare. The documentation stated that "the AllShare function will make it possible to easily connect the TV to all compatible digital devices and provide access to movies, photos and music stored there." It was already reassuring.

At the first stage, it became necessary to connect the TV to the computer, of course, via WI-FI. But there was no hint of a built-in WI-FI adapter on the TV. It had to be purchased separately. And not just any, but Samsung's. Specifically, only 3 adapters were suitable for my UE-32D5000 model: WIS09ABGN, WIS09ABGN2 or WIS10ABGN(experiments with other adapters, as far as I know, have not been successful yet).

In addition to the fact that adapters are not cheap, it is also unrealistic to buy them (rare) in Ukraine. You can buy in America or China, or wait for someone to "throw it out" on bulletin boards. After 3 weeks of searching, I managed to get WIS10ABGN(in Zhytomyr) for $50.

So, everything is ready for the AllShare function: WI-FI in the house is distributed through a router, the computer itself is connected to the router via a cable, a WI-FI adapter is connected to the TV.

WI-FI router distributes the Internet in the house, and also connects the TV to the computer

In order for the devices to see each other, I install the program on the AllShare computer from Samsung and after simple settings, by "sharing" the necessary folders on the computer, I managed to see the contents of these folders on the TV screen (such content as: photos, videos and music). But as you know, my goal was to make an analogue of "Smart TV" - to transfer video from the Internet directly to the TV - to watch movies directly from the network.

Advanced programmers from Samsung showed users of already outdated models of their TVs a big "fact", since in the AllShare program from Samsung, you can do nothing but watch "shared" folders. I had to silently delete the program and forget about it. The solution was found as a result of a 10-minute Internet search. The "Home Media Server" program from Evgeny Lachinov met my requirements (this miracle can be downloaded and configured on the official website of the program).

Home media server (UPnP, DLNA, HTTP) by Evgeny Lachinov is a program that provides media resources (photos, audio and video files) of your computer to other UPnP (DLNA) devices on your home network, such as Philips, Sony, Samsung TVs LG, Toshiba, game consoles Sony Playstation 3, XBOX 360, WD TV Live media players, Popcorn Hour, Dune, Boxee Box, IconBit, ASUS O!Play, iPad/iPhone/iPod, mobile and PDA devices.

This is not just a player that will send a movie, TV channel or radio station directly to your TV (where there is no "Smart TV"), it will be able to decode it (video stream) on the fly into the required format, pull lists of movies from popular services (YouTube, VKontakte, etc.) .d.).

By downloading the program, you can import entire libraries of films into it - tens and hundreds of thousands, watch Internet TV and archives of TV shows on your TV, using your computer only as a link. In practice, it looks something like this: I work at the computer while it shows the children in the background a cartoon in good HD quality straight from VKontakte.

You will quickly learn how to set it up and use it - fortunately there is a technical forum on the program's website.

In this way, it was possible to turn the Samsung UE-32D5000 into a home entertainment center, implementing a semblance of "Smart TV" in it.

Video from the Internet is broadcast directly to the TV screen in which there is no web browser, smart TV and other bells and whistles

Modern LG TVs have the ability to access the Internet, and to use this opportunity, most models have a Smart TV platform. It is through smart TV that the TV receiver interacts with services on the Internet, such as watching movies, chatting in in social networks, installing applications from sites, etc.

You can connect your TV to the Internet if you already have a cable from your ISP, for example, you already have a computer with Internet access. The Internet must provide a speed of at least 5 Mbps to be able to watch online movies in high definition. You can either connect the TV directly to the cable included in the apartment, but then other devices will not be able to use the Internet, or connect wifi router and set up an Internet connection through it.

There are several ways to connect your TV to the Internet:

  1. 1) Directly to the provider's cable;
  2. 2) Through an external router, via cable or by creating a wireless connection, then:
  • a) Using the internal WiFi module, connect to your home WiFi network;
  • b) Using the WiFi adapter, connect to your home WiFi network.

Cable connection

Connecting the TV directly to the provider's cable is possible, but not recommended. First, you will not be able to use the Internet on other devices. Although new TVs have the ability to create an access point, that is, the TV itself will distribute the Internet to other devices. But still, this is worse than using specialized equipment, the same external router. Secondly, not all TVs have the capabilities for such a connection. After all, each provider uses a different technology for connecting to the network. There are several such technologies and TVs do not support the entire set of such connections, so it may turn out that your TV is not compatible with your provider, and you will not be able to connect the TV receiver directly to the Internet. For example, not all TVs support PPPoE, L2TP, PPTP technologies, but the “dynamic IP” technology can be used on many TV receivers.

In any case, you will have to manually enter data on the TV. The most common are IP address and DNS servers. If the provider binds the connection to the MAC address, then you find this MAC address in the information on the TV and inform the provider. In order to find out the MAC address of the TV, go to the "Support" section, select the "product information" item and there, among the various data, there will be a MAC address.

Connecting via a WiFi router

A Wi-Fi router is used to connect multiple devices to a single Internet channel. That is, you have an input cable from the provider, and you connect this cable to the router, and already connect all the necessary devices (computer, laptop, TV, etc.) to the outputs of the router. You can connect devices to the router, both using a cable and via a wireless Wi-Fi network. In any case, you need to configure such connections using the information from the instructions.

Such a connection through a router is the most optimal. After all, you can connect many devices using just one type of setup. At the same time, routers are able to support any type of connection with the provider and you do not have to look for solutions, as in the previous case with a direct connection of the TV to the provider.

A cable connection is more reliable than a wireless connection, but it has the disadvantage of having cables in the room. And wireless should provide good level signal at the receiving point, otherwise the connection to the Internet may be lost.

Cable connection to the router

Having installed a router at home, and having correctly configured it according to the instructions that come with the router, you can connect to it and Smart TV TV. Each router has several LAN outputs for connecting devices to the Internet via a network cable (twisted pair). Such a cable can be purchased at any computer store. The TV must also have a LAN port.

After such a connection, the message “connected to a wired network” should appear on the TV. That is, all parameters were automatically configured. If the parameters need to be entered manually, then we go through this path in Smart TV: Home – Settings – Network – Network setup "wired".

If you need to manually enter the IP address and DNS server, then enter them on this page using the remote control. If everything is correct, the TV will display a message that the connection has been established.

Wireless connection with a Wi-Fi router

For wireless connection to the router as part of the LG TV there must be a WiFi module, this can be checked according to the instructions for the TV. If there is no such module, then you can connect an external WiFi adapter to the TV. Such an adapter is purchased separately and is connected to the USB connector. It happens that the store says in the TV settings that it is possible to connect to a wireless network. But this may mean that an external WiFi adapter can be connected to the TV receiver, and this model does not necessarily have a built-in Wi-Fi module. Check everything with the seller.

If there is a WiFi module or you have connected an adapter, then by going to the network settings of the TV, as described in the previous paragraph, you will see the following item available: “Network settings: wireless”.

After going to the wireless network settings, you can make settings according to one of three options.

  • 1) Setting from the list of access points (AP) - select this item if you know the name of the WiFi network and the password for it;
  • 2) Easy installation (WPS mode) - this item can be selected if the router also supports it (then the router should have a WPS button). Select this item and press the button on the router for 15 seconds, and everything will be automatically configured;
  • 3) Network setup (Ad-hoc) - used to communicate with a computer without access to the Internet.

By selecting the “Setting from the list of access points” item, you will see all the networks available at that moment at the TV installation point. Select your network from the list and, if required, enter a password (you make the password in the router settings 8 characters from numbers and letters of the Latin alphabet). If the network name is encrypted, then enter the network name. The name of the network and the password for it are specified when setting up the router, then you write down this data for yourself to enter on the connected devices. If everything is entered correctly, the TV will display a message about connecting a wireless network and an icon with a WiFi signal strength will be visible.

WiFi adapter for LG TV

TV manufacturers in their television receivers have made it possible to use an external Wi-Fi module to create a wireless network. Only now they did it in such a way that ordinary WiFi modules do not work with TVs, such modules are produced for use in computers. So did the company LG, she released its own WiFi adapter (external module) called LG AN-WF100. The price of such a module is about $ 30, while models of such modules for a computer cost 3 times cheaper.

The LG AN-WF100 adapter is connected to the USB 2.0 connector, and provides speeds up to 300 Mbps. Supports the following communication standards: IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n.
