What is the most popular game for the iPad. Best Free iPad Games

  • 13.10.2019

We know that not all of our readers have an iPad Pro. The thing is quite expensive, especially in the current economic situation in the country. But suddenly you decided to make yourself a gift, preparing, say, for the summer (and many people here read "dacha") season. The tablet is convenient because you can carry it everywhere with you, and gamers will also like the large screen and powerful “stuffing”.

We will not persuade you to buy an iPad Pro, but if you suddenly set out to do it yourself, or if you already have this device, we suggest taking a look at the top 10 mobile games that will be more convenient to play on the big screen.

Civilization VI

Who would have thought that a full-fledged economic turn-based strategy would reach mobile devices. But it happened nonetheless. You can’t play it on a smartphone, and it’s hard to imagine. Especially considering that the full version of Civilization VI was ported to the iPad. By the way, there is no need for an iPad Pro, the game runs on the iPad Air, iPad mini 2 and iPad 5th generation. You will also be pleasantly surprised by the availability of a trial version for 60 moves.

PUBG Mobile

We always kneel politely when we meet people capable of playing shooters on mobile devices. In our opinion, it is quite difficult and terribly inconvenient. But the large screen of the iPad, I must say, slightly corrects the situation, but there is still no escape from fashionable trends today. So, if the summer season is coming, but you don’t want to break away from your favorite “royal battle”, download PUBG Mobile to your tablet and you will be happy.

Monument Valley 2

It is worth starting from the most important - it is very beautiful game. Puzzle with optical illusions, colorful backgrounds, fancy colors and incredible stylish design will not leave indifferent any fan of mobile games. You can play on a smartphone, but on a tablet with a large screen, it will look even nicer.

Infinity Blade III

The Infinity Blade series of games has long been renowned for its outstanding visuals. The game even made it to Apple booths during product launches, serving as a demonstration of how beautiful mobile gaming can be. Needless to say, on the huge screen of the iPad Pro, the last part of the series will be even more detailed and realistic. If you love RPGs, then you should definitely pay attention to this option.

Oceanhorn

This game is ideal for those who would really like to play The Legend of Zelda, but simply do not want to spend another 25 thousand rubles on the purchase of the Switch console and the game itself in addition to the already purchased tablet. AT App Store Of course, there are analogues of the last game from the Zelda series, and Oceanhorn is one of the best options.

Asphalt 8: Airborne

When it comes to mobile gaming, it becomes clear that many people play racing or all kinds of runners on their smartphones and tablets. Well, in that case, this list simply could not do without racing simulators. Asphalt 8: Airborne is a mixture of Need for Speed and Mario Kart. The screen is full of madness, and the larger the screen - the more fun. If you are a happy iPad Pro owner and love racing, you simply cannot ignore this option.

Samorost 3

Despite the fact that the iPad Pro is a powerful machine that can handle the most demanding new products on the mobile market, this does not mean at all that you need to play on it only those games that use the potential of iron to the maximum. Classic puzzles and simply beautiful novels will come in handy on a languid evening by the fire, in a calm, cozy atmosphere. Samorost 3 is just one of the options to while away a couple of hours with maximum comfort.

Crypt of the Necrodancer

Even the name of this game literally attracts any gamer, because it sparkles with absurdity. But only those who love Rogue-like titles will like the game. Here you will find dynamically generated levels where you have to move to the beat of the music. All the action on the screen turns into a kind of dance, and one awkward movement is punished by a return to the very beginning. Well, the big screen will help you. We hope that you will do better on a tablet than on a smartphone.

Fallout Shelter

We couldn't get past the Fallout Shelter. This game can certainly be played on a smartphone as well, as long as you don't plan on spending more than 6 hours playing it. But if you are still sucked in, and your bunker really starts to grow, then this is the case when the screen diagonal comes to the rescue. In principle, the game does not require the power and top diagonals of the iPad Pro, you can play on a regular iPad. But since you have got a top-end tablet, it's simply indecent not to install Fallout Shelter on it.

Hitman Go

Last on the list, but not least, is Hitman Go. It could be assumed that a mobile game based on a well-known franchise will become another tool for pumping money, as is often the case in such cases. However, Hitman Go is not the case. The mobile brother honors the traditions of the original series, which any gamer will appreciate. Despite the fact that the game is somewhat reminiscent of a card game, and the style in it is very minimalistic, it still looks first-class, and therefore it is recommended for all iPad Pro owners to play through.

| BESTGAMESFORiPad

SID MEIERS'S CIVILIZATION VI

Sid Meier's Civilization VI best demonstrates the iPad's potential as a gaming device. Previous iterations of Civilization for the iPad were terribly cartoonish and simplistic. But Civilization VI is not the game you play on PC, with all its inherent depth and complexity.

This means you get one of the best 4X games (eXplore; eXpand; eXploit; eXterminate). You aim to make your civilization dominant by becoming a trading giant, heading for the stars, or gaining the strongest army that will leave you alone to rule the world.

The game takes time and attention, is extremely entertaining and should keep you hooked for months to come. Developers think the same way when evaluating a game. However, you get 60 moves for free, and "correct" games cost real money.

The bar is a bit blurry on the iPad Pro, but otherwise plays great - one of the best games I've ever played, meticulously optimized for touch.

| THE ROOM: OLD SINS

The Room: Old Sins takes you to challenging puzzle rooms. Like previous games in the series, Old Sins is obsessed with the impossible. This time you are looking into the disappearance of an engineer and his wife. You see what appears to be a corpse in a gloomy attic and suddenly find yourself in a dollhouse.

And from that moment on, you use everything, touching, swiping, dragging, manipulating objects in one way or another in search of the best logical solution, until you leave the room. At some point, you will discover a seemingly endless number of hidden compartments in a tiny train model. Elsewhere, something terrible and otherworldly will scream before forcibly pushing you out of the room.

If you're new to iPad games and love puzzles, Old Sins is a hassle-free, consistent game with multiple puzzles, and none of the tedium you'll find in Myst. As for existing fans, you've probably bought and played the game a long time ago. If not, what are you waiting for?

| INSIDE

[FREE + $6.99 | 420 rubles]

INSIDE is a puzzle/platformer game that follows a boy's adventures in a frightening dystopia. The game begins with an escape from armed men. You must dodge and hide behind trees, run from ferocious dogs or end up dead.

But death is not the end. Like INSIDE's predecessor, the equally unsettling LIMBO, this game's protagonist seems doomed to repeat every setback until he achieves victory.

There is an opportunity to try and reflect on the mistakes made. You run around the building, die horribly, make some mental notes, then repeat. Sometimes it gets annoying, some sequences in the game are too long, others have too low an error.

For the most part, this game intrigues with puzzles and a mesmerizing - albeit extremely dark - world full of surprises, horrors and tiny victories along the player's path.

| GOROGOA

Gorogoa is a cryptic puzzle game that plays with your perception of space and also forces you to look for connections between images that aren't remotely obvious at first glance.

It all takes place in a two-by-two grid where you can open and manipulate comic panels. Often a part of an image can be separated and superimposed on another.

For example, moving a staircase can result in the protagonist reach a previously inaccessible zone, and what appears to be a star decorative element, may turn out to be the screw of an improvised machine.

Sometimes Gorogoa outplays you, and later on you may run into a mental dead end by manipulating different components, locations and possibilities in your head. But as a tactile, innovative, cryptic puzzle game for the iPad, there's nothing like Gorogoa, you'll feel like a genius when you complete the game.

| GNOG

GNOG is nonsense. The game includes nine floating boxes that act as gateways to miniature worlds of interactively animated madness in which you'll poke, push, tip, tap and slide around the screen to make things happen.

Your tasks are often quite mundane: fix the spaceship, feed the birds, get the chest from the depths of the ocean. But the presentation is disarming - fat figures, primary colors and a strange sound, like a child's toy with an incomprehensible purpose. Things get even more psychedelic as you complete the level, weird laughter starts to ring in your head.

If you put on a thoughtful face from the description of this game, just try GNOG and delve into the game's addictive madness, be an explorer who revels in the joy of discovery. Fire up AR mode to lay out the weird GNOG toys on the table and you'll want the real toys to be at least half as interesting.

| THIMBLEWEED PARK

Thimbleweed Park is a love letter to the world of classic point-and-click adventure, a game designed by two of the smartest minds in the industry. Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick were the masterminds behind the classic Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island, and Thimbleweed Park is no less tricky game in which you are supposedly trying to solve a murder mystery.

We say "supposedly" because the dead body you quickly find is the least of your worries. Throughout the game, you will end up playing as several characters, including a Fed, an aspiring game developer, and a vulgar clown.

The interface is a bit old, as is the difficulty level. Thimbleweed Park can seem simple and a bit awkward. But there are only a handful of iPad adventure games that boast that kind of humor, love, and cunning—and none of them feature plumbers who turn out to be paranormal investigators dressed as pigeons.

| GRID AUTOSPORT

Grid Autospor is one of the first new iPad games where the claim of "console quality" is no exaggeration. It really is a fairly direct port of the popular PC game and PlayStation racing game, but only for the iPad.

There's no progress and currency clutter here - you can immediately delve into everything that the game has to offer, choosing from a huge variety of championships, cars and settings. Everything from fast online races to a full Touring Cars season to name but a few.

With a wide range of control options and difficulty settings, the game will appeal to arcade racing fans and mechanical racers at the same time. And if you can connect an MFi controller to an iPad, the only thing that will differentiate your gaming experience from that of a console game is the screen size.

| SUBSURFACECIRCULAR

Subsurface Circular exists somewhere in the shadow between novels, short films and video games. The game begins in a coupe of an automated transit system, starring the Takis, androids who have replaced humans in many roles in society.

You play as Detective Thek, who spends his entire life interrogating other Underground Circular robots and unearthing secrets. To tell more is to spoil everything from the very beginning, we recommend that you try the story on your own, only to come to your senses after several hours of intricacies and twists and turns of the plot.

Despite the story overdrive, the game looks excellent, with a huge variety of Tacks and a familiar messaging-style interface that has a distinctly futuristic sheen. And if the brevity of the game bothers you, beware, you could spend the same money on theaters and not get the same experience.

| ADVENTURES OF POCO ECO – LOST SOUNDS

Poco Eco Adventures - Lost Sounds is as much an exploratory experience as it is a game. The Hero finds a "lost cassette" that allows him to speak to spirit guides. They give him a musical task: to bring sounds back to earth.

It may seem pretentious to some, “worthy” to others, but Poco Eco is more like a cartoon. One of your first guides is a huge bear, and Poco Eco deftly wanders through gigantic landscapes full of flowers and gigantic musical paraphernalia, bobbing his head to the beat of a soundtrack that evolves as puzzles are solved.

Admittedly, the puzzles are quite simple. Poco Eco is not the kind of game that will make your brain boil on the verge of exploding. It is, however, ideal when you want to relax and immerse yourself in music recreated in the form of an amazing world.

| STARMAN

Starman is an atmospheric adventure featuring a little astronaut trying to bring light to a monochromatic world. A sophisticated, unpretentious atmosphere echoes Monument Valley from time to time. But the puzzles and slow, slightly jerky movements are reminiscent of 80s isometric puzzles like Head Over Heels.

Regardless of the influences of other games, Starman is a real treat. Every puzzle you try to solve offers something new - and some of them are really smart. The mechanics are never complex, but its combinations will touch your nerves. However, Starman is never unfair - when you are faced with a decision, it will seem extremely obvious to you.

The only real drawback is that there is a chance that the lazy pace of the game will turn some players off. In some puzzles, it can be tedious to watch the astronaut trudge back and forth. But for players who are in no hurry to “close” every game, Starman is a catchy, smart, and memorable experience.

Looking for some new and great iPad games? Don't want to pay money? So you are also looking for great Free games. Today we will try to help you. In this long article, I will try to show you the best free games in all genres - be it strategy, shooter, sports games, casual, physics puzzle, action, RPG, racing, words, sims... We have collected for you only the best, only SOC from all over the App Store!

All the games we showcased in this chart are absolutely free. You can play them without paying a penny, but there will also be "shareware" projects in which, in order to fully immerse yourself in the game, you need to buy different things for real money or unlock all sorts of things. But even these games will allow you to experience the fullness of the gameplay and decide whether to dive deeper into the franchise.

So, today we are going to take a look at the following categories of free games for you:

Best iPad Strategies

Spice Bandits
Chillingo Ltd

Spice Bandits is probably the best tower defense game I've ever played. You play as a cute little space pirate who explores the most diverse places on Earth in order to collect as many spices as possible for himself. Of course, the greedy people don't intend to share spices with a pirate just like that, so they constantly attack his buildings. You have to protect yourself from people using your alien towers. Gathering spices everywhere gives you the opportunity to upgrade your turrets and buy new weapons. But in order to make upgrades, you also need to get the necessary level for this.

As you level up your character, you earn upgrade points (which can also be purchased with spices) to customize your play style. You can improve the damage of turrets, rate of fire and other parameters. The game also has its own store where you can buy spices for real money. In this case, you will be able to get rid of in-game ads (yes, it's a shareware game).

The game looks great on a tablet, and the developers have done a great job of tweaking the interface and overall graphics to fit the iPad's large display. You can use one copy of the game on multiple platforms, more precisely, simultaneously on iPad and iPhone, and all your progress in the game will be regularly synchronized. This saves you from having to work with the same device all the time. As they say, what you have at hand, you use it. Saves and synchronization work through a cloud service from developers called Crystal. While the graphics aren't yet optimized for the Retina display, an update for that purpose is on the way.

Battle Nations
Z2Live Inc.

Battle Nations is an amazing mix of real-time strategy with resource gathering and fast-paced military battles. The graphic styling of classic games, as well as various dialogues between battles, make you stay immersed in the gameplay for a long time. The game supports multiplayer mode, which uses equipment obtained during the passage of the single player campaign. So you will probably want to learn the single-player component of the game first, and only then go into the multiplayer mode.

In Battle Nations, the main currency is Nanopods. This is the standard currency for all games, that is, you spend it on various improvements, upgrades and equipment. Coins can be bought for real money in the in-game store, earned while playing the game, and also received for watching commercials. The latter method is very unusual for a mobile game, but what can we do. Nanopods can be used to speed up various combat missions. For example, for faster healing of fighters or their accelerated training. You can also use this currency to build new buildings, which are often even "supercharged" versions of normal buildings.

The game does not yet provide us with support for the new display of the third generation of the tablet, but the graphics still look very nice and bright. It is also supposed to support the game Center for achievements and other things, but so far for some reason it does not work. Hopefully these misunderstandings will be corrected soon. Fortunately, Battle Nations is a universal game that can also successfully synchronize saves and all the progress of the passage with other devices. Thanks should be said to the developers' own service, who were not too lazy to create a special cloud storage.

Hero Academy
Robot Entertainment

Hero Academy is a turn-based, purely multiplayer strategy game with a tactical twist. You are fighting one cartoon army against another. Each side receives five action points for each successful move, spell, and attack using the various units on the board. Each player player during the rounds has one or more crystals that he must protect. Naturally, the task of both players is to destroy enemy crystals. You can also win by destroying all the opponent's units, since only a limited number of them are issued for each round.

Hero Academy provides an army of Earthlings to play for free, but other races such as Dwarves, Dark Elves and Orcs will have to be paid out of your own pocket.

On the iPad, Hero Academy supports saving via cloud storage, Game Center, and the game itself is universal. That is, as in the case of the previous two projects, you can synchronize your game data via the cloud with different devices. Unfortunately, there is no full optimization for the new third-generation display either, since for this you would have to draw each hero in the game again, because the drawing here is done in a manual style. For this, by the way, the developers deserve special praise - the style in the game is just great.

The best free shooters for iPad

gun bros
Glu Games Inc.

Gun Bros is a classic shoot-em-up in which you and your brother-in-arms (artificial intelligence or real partner - you decide) break through crowds of enemies on different planets. At each level, you get coins that you can spend on new weapons and perks. You can improve your damage, movement speed, attack speed, amount of health and other characteristics. You also collect a mineral called Explodium, which can be processed into coins. You can buy even better resources to get even more coins later. The latest update brought the ability to play against your friend to the game. This mode is perfect for those who could not work well in a team.

Warbucks is a separate type of currency in the game used to buy the best weapons. You can get them through the purchase in the in-game store with your money, earn money by watching ad videos, or convert a ton of regular coins.

Like many other games, Gun Bros is not fully optimized for the Retina display, but the Game Center integration works just fine here. If you have a lot of friends who love games, then Gun Bros will help you attract them to your new hobby. It's really very easy to invite friends to the game. There are even special rewards for inviting friends and playing with them. Gun Bros also supports saving game data to cloud storage and universal.

Metal Storm: Wingman
Z2Live Inc.

MetalStorm: Wingman is an amazing flying action game with full multiplayer support, AirPlay compatibility and accelerometer and sensor controls. During the game (whether it's singleplayer, multiplayer combat or endless survival mode) you earn coins that you can spend on buying different types of rockets, machine guns and new planes. Planes also vary greatly - some provide excellent armor, others provide handling, and still others provide firepower. But don't hold the trigger too long - your ammo is always limited. If you don't really like shooting at your friends, then you can invite them to the game through the game Center to go through the co-op campaign together.

Many special upgrades ask you for real money, and are sold in bundles priced at $1. But still, these upgrades can also be earned as you progress through the game - you just need to try.

MetalStorm: Wingman fully supports the new 3rd generation display, which means the graphics are amazing. Cooperative missions, which are quite rare in our area, deserve special attention. But there are no cloud data saving functions here, so be aware.

Frontline Commando
Glu Games Inc.

Frontline Commando is a third-person linear shooter where you play as a classic warrior fighting a whole world of criminals. The game is made in today's popular third-person action style with all kinds of cover and blind shooting. Take cover behind anything with a couple of touches on the screen, lean out from behind them, aim and destroy crowds of enemies. But do not really hope that the wall behind which you are hiding will be able to save you - any shelter here can be destroyed. As you level up, you unlock new weapons to purchase, and you also get gold to spend on special items. The weapons here are the most diverse - assault rifles, sniper rifles, shotguns and grenade launchers. Each gun in the game has its own characteristics - the amount of damage, weight, reload speed and aiming accuracy.

You can also increase your survivability by purchasing first aid kits and upgrading your own armor. If the situation gets too tense, during the battle you can even order an airstrike to clear the desired area. All currency in the game can also be purchased through the in-game store.

Frontline Commando looks great on the new iPad and supports Game Center. Cloud saves work great and will help you to always stay in the game. The game recently received an optimization update with a Retina screen, one new combat map, and new perks.

The best free sports games for iPad

Baseball Superstars 2012
GAMEVIL Inc.

Baseball Superstars 2012 is a great and slightly wild baseball game with a Japanese style of characters and dialogue. The game tries to focus our attention on a bunch of different details, such as running speed, fatigue, and the power of hitting the ball. But there's also something a little more arcade-y and cartoony - "superplayers" who wear weird costumes and have strange special abilities. The game is controlled by rotating the phone in different directions, but don't worry - in order to deal with the bat, you don't have to wave the phone from side to side, you just need to press the button on the screen in time. In order to catch the ball, you need to do a couple of tricky finger movements. You will go through a bunch of different challenges and play with your friends online. Personally, I found the game incredibly difficult even on medium difficulty, but I think real baseball fans will appreciate the attention to detail here and enjoy it to the fullest. high level difficulties. I also played a bit of Homerun Battle 2 Free, and comparing the two games, I can say today that Baseball Superstars 2012 definitely wins in every way.

Through the in-game store, you can earn G-Points, which are spent on various character items, perks, and other upgrades. You can even buy whole levels of pumping at once, if you are really lazy.

The graphic styling for old-school games looks a bit boxy on the tablet's large display, but the animation still looks very high quality. Synchronization of game data in the cloud only works for those who are registered in the Gamevil system, and integration with Game Center here is only about tracking achievements, but overall the game is great.

NFL Pro 2012
Gameloft

NFL Pro 2012 is a complete American football simulator. There are various leagues, playbooks and a bunch of characters and teams copied from the real ones. Your players gain experience and level up as they progress. This allows you to improve their skills such as blocking, agility, reaction and strength. While you are in control of a certain player(s), your tablet's artificial intelligence is responsible for the performance of the rest of the players on the team. The controls are very simple, but most of the game time you will switch between players and choose more or less dexterous athletes. Unfortunately, at the beginning of the game there are not so many of them, which is a certain difficulty.

During each game, a certain amount of energy is used, which can be bought through the in-game store. Experience points can also be bought along with money for new stadiums, teams, divisions and more. In general, the usual freemium scheme of the game.

Unfortunately, in NFL Pro 2012 there is no cloud saving, although the program is universal. Also, an update is not yet expected to optimize for the new third-generation display, which is very strange, because the game is still from the big people from EA. It doesn't even have Game Center support, and all this makes you think that the game will get a big update soon.

Real Soccer 2012
Gameloft

Real Soccer 2012 offers a wide range of game modes in a rich and realistic gameplay design. Controls are based on the usual virtual joystick and run, pass and kick buttons, but it's greatly expanded with touch controls - you can do a bunch of different moves and feints. You can unlock many different cups, starting with the international one. Asian, African, American and European cups are presented here, as well as regional leagues that open as you progress in your career. Just remember that the number of matches your team can handle is directly related to the level of stamina. Here, even the loading screens are cleverly done - they feature various polls on the topic of the history of football and all that.

By playing Real Soccer 2012 you earn coins that can be used to buy soccer balls. Balls, in turn, provide various bonuses such as increased experience for matches. The main currency in the game is "Cash", which can be spent on various perks and upgrades. You can even remove all your yellow cards from the game history for a tidy sum of money.

Real Soccer 2012 has the status of a universal game, but is not friendly with cloud saves, Game Center and Retina optimization.

The best free casual games for iPad

Bejeweled Blitz
popcap

Bejeweled Blitz is a lightweight version of the popular casual game from PopCap. You are given a board of colored gems, and you can change the positions of any two of your choice to match the colors of their neighbors. Matching lines of jewels explode beautifully and allow you to rack up a variety of combos. The more gems explode at once, the more points you get. The crystals that were above the exploded ones always fall down and take their place. The trick is that each round in the game lasts only one minute, so during the game you need to try to collect as many points as possible. PopCap keeps you in the game with a variety of bonuses and rewards for daily play.

You get coins for each round (which can also be bought with real money), which can be spent on all sorts of perks and upgrades. There are even special things like a score multiplier that appears in a random round. Of course, if Bejeweled Blitz isn't enough for you, you can always buy the full game for a dollar, which contains many more game modes.

Bejeweled Blitz has optimized graphics for the Retina display, it is universal, but there is no Game Center support. The game allows you to synchronize your progress with other versions, so you don't have to worry about it.

Trainyard Express
Matt Rix

Trainyard Express is a puzzle game where you draw a railroad to get trains from one point to another. The process becomes confusing and complicated when you have to make sense of the colorful lines and carefully plan your way on the roads.

Trainyard Express is one of the games on today's list, which is a "lite" version of the full game that you can buy for $3. But even 60 levels in the free version will not seem like a cakewalk, you know. Once you have solved all the puzzles, you will open the "expert mode", in which each rail is worth its weight in gold, and time is limited.

Trainyard Express has a stunning, simple style that's also optimized for retina. In addition, there are no annoying ads. Unfortunately, there is no Game Center support, but you can share your unique puzzle solutions on the official website of the game or on Facebook. You can also play together, passing your device in turn.

temple run
Imangi Studios LLC

Temple Run is an incredibly simple platform game where you have to run from ancient spirits who are angry that you stole their idol. You need to wobble between obstacles, quickly run through turns, dodge under objects and jump over chasms using touch controls. Collect coins along the way, which, by the way, can also be collected through the accelerometer - the character dodges to the left or right when the phone is tilted. But basically the game is controlled by finger movements and taps on the screen. The gameplay can get a little annoying if you're not able to deal with a person running away quickly, but the game still delivers on-screen action a lot.

The coins you collect through levels allow you to buy upgrades, perks, and unlock characters, as well as even exclusive desktop wallpapers.

On a tablet, Temple Run works great, offering us the same incredibly intense gameplay as on the iPhone version. There is also full Game Center support with leader boards and achievements. The game is universal, but there is no synchronization with another version - the achievements that I received on the iPhone were not displayed on the tablet for some reason. The graphics are not retina ready yet, but the game still looks very nice.

The best free physics games for iPad

Cut the Rope: Experiments Free HD
ZeptoLab UK Limited

Cut the Rope: Experiments Free HD is an incredibly popular game that lets you feed candy to a hungry and cute creature. You cut the ropes that hold the sweets so that they can get to the hungry mouth. This, in fact, is the whole gameplay. In order for the sweeties to overcome different obstacles, you need to use different tools. Before you feed Om Nom, you can collect some stars to get a big reward. But this is purely an optional bonus.

In the free version, you only get 12 levels, while the full game with 125 levels only costs $2.

Cut the Rope: Experiments Free HD fully supports iCloud and Game Center syncing, which may not be a big plus for such a small game, but can come in handy if you decide to buy the full version. The game is not optimized for Retina, but it can't even render properly on a large and new display. This, of course, is sad, but the game works very stably and smoothly.

Fruit Ninja HD Lite
Halfbrick Studios

Fruit Ninja HD Lite is a lite version of another very popular game. The gameplay is similar to Cut the Rope, because here you also need to quickly move your fingers and cut objects. Only in this case we cut fruit! We collect combos, get a lot of points and try to avoid bombs on your cutting table.

In the free version, you get the Classic game mode in which you can only let three fruits fall to the ground. The $3 paid version includes a Zen mode in which you have to cut as many fruits as you can within a limited time, split-screen multiplayer, special fruits like frozen bananas that slow down everything on the screen, allowing you to aim more carefully.

Fruit Ninja looks great on the big screen, even though this game is not retina optimized. Fruit Ninja is also not universal and does not have cloud sync. There is game Center support, but the gameplay speaks for itself - this is one of the most popular mobile games ever.

Angry Birds Free
Rovio Mobile Ltd.

Angry Birds is a wildly popular puzzle game developed by the Finnish company Rovio Mobile in which you have to use a slingshot to shoot birds at pigs placed on various designs. Since the first release for Apple iOS, December 10, 2009 in the App Store, has been purchased over 12 million copies of the game. The game is currently available for other platforms including Maemo 5, MeeGo Harmattan, Android, Bada, Symbian, WebOS, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows. On May 11, 2011, a version branded for the Google Chrome browser was added, but it also works in other modern browsers. The game has received over 1 billion downloads to date, making it the most downloaded app on mobile platforms such as Apple's App Store.

I think you understand the full scale of this phenomenon in our world. Angry Birds is not just a game. This is a whole world that includes both games and a bunch of all sorts of merchandise such as soft toys, accessories and other themed goods.

The free version of Angry Birds includes 24 levels, and to get a ton of extras, you have to pay $3 for the full version. Be aware that there are different versions of free Angry Birds available for download. There is one seasonal, and there is another one based on the Rio cartoon. Try playing both if you're looking for variety. But to be honest, it's a shame not to have the full version of this game on your device. Still, she deserved 1 billion downloads for a reason!

Unfortunately, only the last part of the franchise, Angry Birds Space, is optimized for Retina. Developers like to add two magic letters "HD" to the name, but don't think that the picture here is different from what we are used to seeing on the iPad.

The best free action games for iPad

jetpack joyride
Halfbrick Studios

Jetpack Joyride is a horizontal arcade game with a seemingly primitive gameplay. The goal of the game is to fly the jetpack as far as possible and earn as many points as possible. Along the way, the hero will encounter obstacles of various types, and over time, the flight speed also increases, which makes the process of survival extremely difficult. For one flight, the player is given one life, in other words, if you get hit by a laser, you will have to start all over again. But in the laboratory in which the action of the game takes place, in addition to jetpacks, other vehicles are also produced: for example, motorcycles, gravitational exo-suits, flying robots and other equipment that sometimes looks very futuristic. During the flight, all of them can be picked up and thereby earn an extra chance to beat your own record. If during the game you collect not only coins, but also various bonuses, then if you fail, you will be given a chance to somehow improve your position and play slot machine thus winning money or additional opportunities and abilities. Passing the same locations ten times, of course, over time, will finish anyone, but Halfbrick managed to turn these imaginary shortcomings into virtues. Almost every time you start a new game, the level will be generated differently and over time, it will be quite difficult to notice repeating locations and obstacles. This is exactly what builds the lion's share of interest in the game. Every detail in the game is made by hand, therefore, every event or action will affect how the game behaves. There are a huge number of event generation algorithms, and gradually pumping equipment: a jetpack and other equipment, the gameplay will only expand.

As in all other mobile games, you can earn coins to buy various upgrades and things. Management is very simple and is based on pressing a couple of buttons on the screen and a couple of finger movements. Coins earned during the game can also be bought with your own money. But it's like someone, you know.

Jetpack Joyride features stunning Retina-optimized graphics, Game Center support with leaderboards and achievements. This is a universal program, but synchronization, unfortunately, does not work quite stably.

Wind up Knight
Robot Invader

Wind-up Knight is a classic runner platformer where you have to rescue a princess. The hero is constantly moving forward, and on his way he destroys evil chickens, defends himself from unfriendly objects falling on his head, and generally tries to survive in all the mess. During the game, you need to not only fight enemies, but also try to be incredibly fast, because the princess will not wait!

The plot of the game is divided into four sections, each of which is a separate book. Each book is a separate world where everything is different from other books. In each new section, you will be able to meet new enemies and, of course, new obstacles. Each book has 12 main levels and one additional level.

At each level you have to collect coins, which will directly affect your final result and the amount of internal currency earned. Also at each level there is a bonus in the form of a postcard / love letter, which is quite cleverly hidden, and sometimes you have to sweat to get it. There are 50 levels in total in the game, so it's hard to say that Wind-up Knight is a game for half an hour. If you completed a level with almost no coins collected, then there will be no passing rating for this level. If you have completed the level by collecting almost all the coins, then most likely you will be awarded an A rating. For real champions, as always, there is a separate place! If you have collected all the coins, as well as the special bonus, then you can be content with an S rating, the highest rating.

Wind-up Knight supports cloud saves, and the game itself is universal, so you can safely play on any iOS devices. Game Center is mainly focused on achievements here, but it doesn't smell like multiplayer at all. This is very sad, because I would be glad to see how I break the records of my friends every evening.

The graphics are very friendly, but rather designed for children. And the optimization for the retina display is only partial here. Wind-up Knight has an amazing and sparkling sense of humor, so you will definitely not get bored while playing.

Cordy Sky
SilverTree Media

Cordy Sky is a jumping game where you play as a cute little robot. You will be trying to break through an unfriendly planet to your spaceship to continue your flight. Here's the plot twist: While traveling to Planet 2, Cordy's rocket crash-lands on a mysterious planet, where he encounters a hovering robot named Volt, who ended up on the planet years ago. Together they go on a flight to refuel a huge rocket and continue their journey to distant planets.

The gameplay is a jump platformer where you have to jump across a bunch of different platforms. But be careful - falling down, you have to start all over again. The game can be controlled through simple taps on the screen, or by moving your fingers on the sensor. Personally, I prefer the first option, but it's up to you to choose.

As you progress through the game, you collect gears that can be used to buy boosts, upgrades, or even character outfits. Of course, you can buy gears through the in-game store with your own money, but you can also just earn them during the game itself. But don't be fooled by cute graphics - the game is a good challenge for advanced players!

Cordy Sky is universal, and synchronization works very stably. A fan forum reported at the time that the game was optimized for Retina, but I have not yet been able to find confirmation of this information.

The best free RPG games for iPad

Dark Legends
Spacetime Studios LLC

Dark Legends is a free to play massive multiplayer game set in the modern world of vampires, zombies and other supernatural beings. The game is made by the same people who once released Pocket Legends, but this project still looks bigger. The game's quest structure is very simple - there's a great combination of in-game time-based quests with the usual RPG rewards, as well as combat missions that you can play through both the single player campaign and multiplayer. Control is based on a standard virtual joystick with quick access to special combat techniques. You can even grab an enemy, suck all the blood out of him, and then shred him to pieces. Chic! Outside of quests, you can freely walk around locations, buy the necessary things, and also look at multiplayer arenas where players fight each other.

Passing missions here consumes a limited amount of energy, which is constantly regenerated (but it can also be fully recharged through the purchase of premium currency for your money in the in-game store). The special currency in the game can also be used to buy super items for your hero.

And although there are not so many polygons in the game, the textures are optimized for Retina just fine. There is no Game Center support, but once you log into the game, you can switch between your iPad and iPhone account.

Six Guns
Gameloft

Six-Guns is a multiplayer western with open world. You play as a stern but classic hero from the far west who genuinely doesn't like all the bad guys that have populated his hometown. The game is trying its best to bring a piece of the wild west to mobile platforms. Combat is based on shooting from revolvers from a third person. Management here uses a conventional virtual joystick and a couple of buttons on the screen. Of course, you will be rewarded for your exploits, and you can spend the accumulated money on any of your needs - weapons, horses, upgrades, women...

Travel through canyons, crypts, deserts, settlements and complete tasks helping unfortunate people. Your arsenal of ammo is not unlimited, so you need to not waste it in vain, and also take care to replenish your money bag, with which you will have to buy new weapons and ammo. Defy danger in the wilds of the west and always keep your holster open and be ready to draw your revolver and pull the trigger at any moment!

A truly interesting and unusual game for mobile platforms. As with all free games, there are two types of currency - regular coins and (in this case) sheriff's stars, which can be spent on various cool things. There is also an in-game shop where you can even buy experience points for leveling up the hero and improving health and armor.

Six-Guns is optimized for Retina and the sync works great here.

Heroes vs monsters
Trinity Interactive Limited

Heroes vs Monsters is a multiplayer slasher game with simple controls, cute style and tons of customizable moments. You command a group of heroes with different classes. Warriors here inflict maximum damage, doctors are trying to keep the entire squad in good health, and a variety of classes of heroes are trying to destroy everything in their path using a variety of means. Exploring the world of the game, you can find many other monsters, heroes to hire for your team, and you will also upgrade your level, discover new perks, abilities, improve your characteristics and much more.

The coins you get during the game are used to buy various equipment for your squad, but you can also buy gold bars through the in-game store. Every piece of gear you buy will show up on every hero you own. The only negative in the game is the presence of an advertising banner at the bottom of the screen, which cannot be removed in any way. It's also worth mentioning. that Heroes vs Monsters is a clone of another game - Battleheart, and if you don't mind $3, then you will probably want to buy the original source of the idea.

The game does not even support Retina resolution, so on this display the game is displayed with a black border around the picture. The game is universal, but there are no cloud saves. But there is support for game Center.

The best free racing games for iPad

Forever drive
supermono limited

Forever Drive is a colorful top-down racing game with a cool abstract style. The controls are simple and very transparent for people who are at least a little familiar with mobile games. The number of points you earn depends on how many stars you collect during the ride, but don't get too crazy during the race - there is a limited time to complete all the tracks. This means you'll need to drive smart and avoid the traffic that's exploding Tron-style here.

There are also various weekly tasks that are updated over the Internet, in which you can win special prizes and large amounts of game currency. For currency here, as elsewhere, however, you can buy various unlocks (which, in fact, are not so many). But still, most of the unlocked things are issued for leveling up and gaining experience. Here you can take body kits for cars, coloring pages and other chips for your personality. If you don't give a damn about it, then you can buy it all with your own money through the in-game store.

Forever Drive is a universal cloud save game, so you don't have to worry about it and play on different devices. There is support for Game Center leaderboards, but the graphics are not yet retina-ready. Let's hope that an update for this purpose will be released soon.

Road Warrior Racing Free
Top Free Apps and Games

Road Warrior Racing Free is a side-scrolling racing game set in the style of the apocalyptic future from Mad Max. You drive across scorched earth, use a bunch of different weapons to fight enemies - miniguns, rocket launchers and more. You can only hope that opponents do not use all this against you. The cars in the game accelerate on their own, and you just have to take care of your survival. You will ride on a wide variety of tracks with different levels of difficulty and special rules. For example, on some tracks you can not use weapons.

As you play, you naturally earn coins to buy new weapons, armor, upgrades, and more. Everything is standard, and you can also upgrade your wheelbarrow here. You can also buy upgrades with your real money.

At the moment, Game Center support is limited to leaderboards only, but the developers promise to expand these features in the near future. For example, a full-fledged multiplayer will arrive here soon (it is already available on Android). The game is universal, but there is no support for cloud saves. All in all, it's a very fun and addictive game to be honest.

GT Racing: Motor Academy Free+ HD
Gameloft

GT Racing: Motor Academy Free+ HD is a more down to earth game. At the beginning, you are taken through a full-fledged driving training in which you receive various licenses suitable for certain classes of cars. After that, you'll be ready to immerse yourself in the world of racing, tournaments, special invite events and contract fulfillment. The money you earn in the process can be spent on buying a Bugatti, BMW, Bentley, Jaguar, Ford, Chevrolet or Audi. There is even the possibility of renting a car for a couple of races, so you don't even have to spend your hard-earned money sometimes. The game even includes some kind of role-playing mechanics - sometimes you are given tasks for which you will receive special rewards in the form of cars, improvements, or just a large number experience and money.

As with all games, you can also purchase money with real currency from the in-game store. But still it is better to earn them by overwork.

No cloud sync, no Game Center support, but multiplayer is still there.

The Best Free Board Games for iPad

Poker by Zynga
Zynga

Poker by Zynga is a simple yet highly polished multiplayer poker game for the iPad. You can even play with people on Facebook. The game has been out for a long time, so if you take into account all the updates and additions, you get a very nice picture. You can add your friends to the game, search for tables that suit you in various ways, and even give other players gifts for good game. There is only one drawback in the game - you will need Wi-Fi in order to play with other people.

To begin with, you are given a few chips that you can both win and buy for real money. Or make money by watching ads. But when the chips run out, you will have to invest real money in the game, just like in a real casino.

The game does not use the game Center, and Retina support is not announced, but all this is not so important for such a game.

Shadow era
Kyle Poole

Shadow Era is something similar to Magic: The Gathering. A fantasy card game in which two heroes command armies and accumulate strength in order to fight against their opponents. Shadow era provides the function of trading cards through the "merchant" menu, which allows you to both purchase ready-made game decks assembled by developers and purchase separate "boosters" with random cards. A nice feature of the application is that the player can do without spending real money to buy additional "packs" and decks - they can be purchased using earned points, so it all depends on your mind and abilities. The design of the cards in Shadow Era is simply excellent and will not leave indifferent even the most sophisticated connoisseurs. At the beginning, you will have to fight with opponents, which are provided by the standard game plot. However, after gaining enough experience, skills and upgrading the main "deck", it becomes possible to fight with real people on the fields online battles. It should be noted that when playing online, a defeated opponent relies on much more experience and money.

In the game, you can buy booster packs and full sets of cards through the in-game store. This allows you to put together a useful set of cards to suit your play style. You can also earn premium currency for simply progressing through the game.

On the iPad, the game runs in full screen mode, it is fully optimized for Retina and has excellent Game Center support with cross-platform multiplayer.

BoardBox
Ripe Apps Inc.

BoardBox is a highly polished collection of classic board games including chess, checkers, tic-tac-toe and even backgammon. There are more interesting options like Japanese chess, as well as a bunch of other great but unknown games. The game even includes the ability to view game rules via Wikipedia articles.

Unfortunately, the game is fully multiplayer, that is, there is no artificial intelligence. Rumor has it that he will soon appear in the game, but you will probably have to pay your money for him. The game also has a small advertising banner at the bottom of the screen, which can be removed for $6.

The game exists only in the version for the iPad, so any cloud synchronization is out of the question. Game Center support is also missing, and multiplayer works here through its own special service.

The best free word games for iPad

Charadium II HD
On5

Charadium II HD are original "words" which are drawings. That is, you are given a group of words, you draw them on the screen, and your network partner tries to guess what these words are. Both players get points for quick answers, and even lose points for delay. But there are also tips here that will be useful to you in case of difficulties. For special achievements, you get stars, which are displayed on your profile. This is a good way to brag to your friends. Charadium II HD is completely free and can be a good alternative to Draw Something. The game is really great, it supports many social features and provides a lot of different features - there are a lot of different brushes, colors and more. All this allows you to truly express your individuality through the game. Among other things, there are a lot of different interesting game modes here - separate online rooms that anyone can enter and start guessing random pictures, as well as private rooms for playing with friends and standard one-on-one matches.

In the free version of the game, you will have to put up with ads, but you can purchase the full version for just $3. It is good that the creators do not ask for too much money for their offspring.

Game Center manifests itself here in the form of achievements and ranks that you earn during the game. The game supports a modern third-generation display, so you can enjoy your art to the fullest. The game isn't universal, but I don't think you'll be incredibly tempted to play on the iPhone.

Words with Friends HD Free
Zynga

Words with Friends HD Free invites you to play against your Facebook friends. These are the classic "words" where you try to make the best combinations of the letters presented on the virtual board. If you get on a special square of the board, you can get several hints at once in the form of letters, or even whole words.

Words with Friends HD Free is currently the most popular game in the genre on iOS. But unfortunately, I cannot say that people online play such projects with a clear conscience. There are too many loopholes and opportunities to cheat in such games, so be very careful when you start playing something like this. Of course, if you are going to play "words" with your friends, you can count on the full enjoyment of the game. But on the net, you better know that success often depends not on experience or skills, but on hints.

Words with Friends HD Free is loaded to capacity with various ads and in-app purchases. There are various upgrades and perks that help you find words better and more efficiently. Of course, you do not need all this, but you can still upgrade the game to the full version for $3.

The game is full-screen for our tablets, there is no game center support, but it is cross-platform and invites us to play with Facebook friends. Thanks to this, you can choose your opponents wisely. There is no synchronization, but the game is universal and you can log into your account from several devices.

Prose with Bros Free
Evil Laugh Games

Prose with Bros Free is described as an "online competitive poetry simulation". Two players connect with each other via Facebook or just randomly. A set of 50 words is given, and these words need to be put together in the most interesting combinations. After compiling poems, other players on the network read them and vote for their favorites. After 12 hours of continuous voting, a winner is chosen. Of course, you yourself can vote for interesting works - you will be offered to do this immediately after entering the game. In general, the experience turns out to be very interesting, and you will not find it anywhere else - the game truly offers exclusive gameplay. There is even a special robot that can read your texts with a wonderful voice. The game can be saved in the cloud, so don't be afraid to lose your progress on your device.

The coolest thing about the game is the absence of any begging. No ads, no items purchased with real money. I don't know why the developers don't want money, but I definitely like it.

Prose with Bros Free is a universal game, and cloud saves, as I said, work great. There is no game center support, but multiplayer feels great here anyway. The graphics here do not break patterns, of course, but you don’t need much from such a game.

The best free simulators for iPad

GodFinger All-Stars
ngmoco, LLC

GodFinger All-Stars is fun game in a small world in which you act as a god on one planet. By scrolling the camera and focusing on certain places, you try to keep an eye on your inhabitants and provide them with everything they need for life. People do not just spend your resources, but also produce gold for you, which can be spent on upgrading their own houses and providing all sorts of interesting chips so that the little men work better. For example, you can make it rain or shine so that their vegetables grow better in the garden. To do this, you have to create all sorts of magic by moving your fingers and tapping the screen. This same magic burns special points that regenerate over time. Of course, you can buy them with your hard-earned money. In addition, there is a special mini-game created specifically for making money.

In general, during the game you complete missions, earn experience points and expand your planet. The drawing here is simply fantastic, and the graphics themselves are very bright and pretty.

The game is not universal, but saves all your progress through its own network on the Internet. You can even visit planets created by your friends. There is no Game Center support, but it is not really needed here. The game doesn't seem to be optimized for Retina, but it's only a matter of time.

The Sims Free Play
Electronic Arts

The Sims FreePlay is a classic life simulation game in which you have to control the lives of cartoon people. If you are at least a little familiar with the franchise, then I can, in principle, not explain anything. Decorate the houses, feed the Sims, keep them entertained and don't forget to shower regularly. The latest update added the ability to have children to the game. By completing daily tasks, you gain experience points. As you level up, you unlock new things. Unlike other games in the franchise, The Sims FreePlay takes place in real time. That is, now you can not rewind time. Keep this in mind, because if your characters go to bed, it will really drag on for 8 hours.

As you play, you earn points that can be used to buy useful items for your heroes. You can buy these points for real money, but there is no particular need for this.

The interface looks great on a tablet, but unfortunately, most of the graphic elements are not optimized for Retina. Also there doesn't seem to be any cloud saving of progress.

My Clinic
Game Insight LLC

My Clinic is a comical hospital life simulation game where you manage your staff, do research, treat patients and look for new treatments. There are just too many diseases to deal with. Your patients are suffering from a wide variety of infections, from sore throats to broken limbs. At any time, you can observe a random number of patients who can be treated in a variety of ways, receiving different rewards for this. During an illness, every patient has moments when it is most important to find the right medicine. If you can do this, then the disease is likely to heal quickly. If not, then... Well, I think you understand what I mean. The faster you cure the disease, the more rewards you will receive. During the passage of the game, there are special tasks for which you will receive special rewards in the form of useful things, medicines or tips. The more often you treat the same disease, the better and faster your teammates will be able to treat it. Leveling during the game allows you to diversify the list of patients and, accordingly, diseases, and also gives you new means for treatment.

The developers of the game live in Russia, so you can expect a lot of humor and interesting situations from the project. The general gameplay principles here are copied from the FarmVille game, so if you are familiar with this thing, then it will be a little easier for you.

During the game, you earn money, which is the main currency in the project. You can buy them for your hard-earned money in the in-game store. Money can speed up the recovery process for your patients, or it can afford you more expensive equipment and medicines.

The game only exists in a tablet version, so you can put your iPhone aside. There is Game Center support so you can organize real doctor associations with your friends and even hire them for your hospital. No Retina support, but games look awesome anyway.
