If you choose the right cabinet, you can not only solve the issue of placing the TV, but also embellish the interior, create additional space for storing important things and emphasize the style.

Let's find out more about which TV stands are considered the most practical and fashionable.

When deciding which TV stand to put in your living room and living room, pay attention to the following nuances:

We also advise you to think in advance about the need for periodic redevelopment of the room. If you are not sure that your cabinet will always stand in the same place, choose models that are not very large and heavy.

Advice: For ease of furniture rearrangement, you can choose a TV stand on wheels.

If you have not decided on ready-made models or are looking for unusual compact or long modern TV stands, contact specialized companies, where specialists will take into account your wishes, correctly calculate the parameters and help you choose a design.

Decide right away what storage areas you need: these can be regular shelves, drawers, and even rotating sections.

Types of TV stand models

One of the most practical options for saving space is a corner TV stand. This layout will free up the center of the room and move the seating area to the corner.

Note that the corner TV stand is quite spacious and can include many different shelves and sections. To maintain a spectacular style, you can choose a model with glass inserts or rounded corners.

For many years, the traditional TV stand has remained popular. Models of this type differ in their dimensions and external design, so both a modern flat-screen TV and three-dimensional models of equipment will look appropriate on such a surface.

TV chest with drawers, photo

One of the important advantages of chest of drawers is their good capacity, but this also entails a reduction in the free space of the room, so such models are more preferable for living rooms with a large area.

The TV stand can look like a table. As a rule, these models are made on wheels. Side tables may include a couple of drawers, but they do not have much storage space, so, in addition to supporting the TV, they will play an exclusively decorative role. But moving such a cabinet to another place will not be difficult.

Advice: glass cabinets will emphasize the elegance of the design and will not look too bulky, so they are perfect for small spaces.

The types of floor-standing TV stands include another interesting model: a bedside table with a bracket that can be rotated in a convenient direction. As a rule, such models are quite compact. They are equipped with additional channels for masking cables and wires.

If you're looking for space-saving, comfortable TV furniture with a contemporary style, a wall-hung TV stand might be just the thing for you. Even in a small room, a hanging TV stand will be almost invisible, so it will not affect the feeling of free space in any way.

For convenient storage of discs, magazines, documents and other items, you can choose wall-mounted TV stands equipped with additional shelves.

Material Variations

Most furniture of this type is made from wood, plastic, chipboard and glass. Wooden TV stands are considered one of the most reliable and durable.

Thanks to the possibility of combining wood with any color and style in the interior, you can easily find a cabinet model that would harmoniously fit into the hall or living room. But most often, cabinets made of dark and light wood are chosen for a classic design.

In modern style, plastic models are more relevant. These cabinets are available in any color: if you don’t want to make the area with the appliances too bright, you can choose something neutral, for example, a black, beige or white TV cabinet.

Glass TV stands create a feeling of weightlessness. They are made from durable, hardened materials and can withstand loads even from large equipment.

Models made of transparent glass will suit any interior color scheme. And if you wish, you can choose glass cabinets decorated with special films that give them a certain shade.

Design of classic and modern cabinets

TV stands in a classic style are most often decorated with antique fittings and patterned carvings on the facades. The doors on spacious bedside tables can be decorated with glass or mirror inserts.

note that the classic wooden TV stands look quite large.

Another example of decorating a TV stand in a classic style: this model differs from traditional stands with graceful legs, patterned painting and gilded elements.

Advice: If you plan to contact specialized companies, you can order the service of creating an antique effect on the surface of such furniture.

Modern TV stands are much more diverse, and not only because in their production different materials are combined and brighter colors are used, but also due to the presence of models of non-standard shapes that fit perfectly into the progressive design of rooms.

The photo shows the simplest model - a long TV stand in a modern style, emphasizing a minimalist design. The doors of the storage sections open by pressing on the surface:

Nowadays, it is probably difficult to find a living space where there is no television. The blue screen has already become an integral part of our lives and therefore, among all the variety of furniture, such a piece of furniture as a TV stand is also in great demand. Its importance in the interior of an apartment should not be underestimated, since, in addition to its direct functional purpose as a kind of stand, it can also greatly embellish the interior. Beautiful TV stands attract attention no less than the equipment itself, and if made in a certain stylistic direction, they can even become a certain highlight that attracts admiring glances. Among other things, they can serve as a “shelter” not only for a TV, but also for decorative elements and other interior items.

TV stand: how to choose the right model

Among the huge number of different types, it is not so easy to settle on the appropriate option. Therefore, it is necessary to highlight the main criteria that influence the choice, namely:

  • TV sizes. Everything is obvious here: if the screen diagonal is small, we choose a more modest stand, but for large models a reliable overall base is needed;
  • financial opportunities. The quality of the materials from which the furniture is made will depend, first of all, on this factor. The most expensive options will be natural wood or glass, while chipboard and plastic are much cheaper, but usually less practical. Although, if you adhere to the necessary care of furniture and its correct operation, even an inexpensive model can last for quite a long period and, at the same time, look no less elegant than expensive designs.

Room style and size

  • room dimensions. This is one of the key indicators that a TV stand must correspond to. For example, in a small room, a large massive model will look ridiculous and will take up quite a lot of space. Miniature cabinets are completely unsuitable for large living rooms, since in such rooms televisions, as a rule, have large dimensions, and installing them on a small base is stupid and risky;
  • stylistic direction in the interior. The overall design of the room must be taken into account when choosing a TV stand. Modern models often have non-standard shapes, which is completely unacceptable for classics and vice versa. We will dwell in more detail on what distinctive features furniture of a particular style has in a separate section of the article;
  • surface height. When choosing a cabinet, you need to take into account the height of the sofa and armchairs in order to make watching TV as comfortable as possible;
  • possibility of placing additional accessories. In modern interior design, there is a tendency to use a minimum number of elements of a furniture set, due to their functionality, when one piece of furniture can replace two or three. Nowadays, the manufacturer is trying in every possible way to embody this idea, thanks to which a TV stand in a modern style can have additional niches, shelves or holes for placing the necessary accessories and storing things;

Of course, product quality is always a determining factor that should be given great attention, because furniture is not purchased for one or two years. Therefore, in addition to good performance of the main material from which the TV stand is made, it should also have high-quality and practical fittings, which is worth asking when purchasing, since in the future its service life will depend on this.

TV stands in a modern style: description of the types of models

The main criteria for classifying TV stands are: shape, type of installation and the material from which the furniture is made. Let's consider the features of individual types.

Long TV stands

Linear models are perfect for installing large plasmas in living rooms or bedrooms. Basically, such designs are used in spacious rooms. They can be installed permanently or suspended. Today, any furniture salon can offer a wide variety of models, each of which will differ in its functionality. Long TV stands, photos of which are presented in the article, can be equipped with various drawers for storing various small items, as well as shelves where you can place decorative elements and other accessories. Some models do not have a back panel. There are also cabinets that have vertical add-ons. In living rooms combined with a kitchen, a long structure can serve as a delimiter for the seating area, as well as create the illusion of a larger space.

Corner TV stand

Models of cabinets designed for installation in a corner are one of the most practical options that can effectively save space, therefore they are well suited for rooms of different sizes, both large and small. In addition, having enough shelves and sections, the corner TV stand, as seen in the photo, is very roomy.

For a children's room, you can purchase a model with rounded corners. Quite often, corner structures are part of a whole set of modular furniture. If the cabinet is purchased separately, it is necessary that it fits into the overall interior of the room and matches the stylistic direction. Today, choosing the appropriate option is not difficult, thanks to the variety available on the market. As an alternative, you can make a bedside table to order.

TV stand

In a spacious room you can install a TV stand in the form of a chest of drawers. This option has existed for decades, but does not lose its relevance. This TV stand is quite roomy, but at the same time it takes up a lot of space, which is why we are talking about installing them in spacious living rooms or bedrooms. The advantage of this design is that you can install not only plasma on it, but also larger TVs, which are found in many homes.

TV stand - table

This model cannot boast of particularly spaciousness, since, in the usual version, it does not contain additional drawers and niches. But on the other hand, it perfectly corresponds to many modern trends in interior design. Glass TV cabinets (photos can be seen in this article) can be a successful addition to high-tech, minimalism and others. They look light and elegant without taking up space, which makes them good for use in small spaces.

Modern TV stands: types of installation

Each furniture manufacturer, in order to make it more functional, convenient to use and applicable to a certain style, tries to produce a variety of models, thus increasing the demand for their products. This also applies to the differences that a TV stand may have, depending on the installation. There are several categories here:

  • stationary TV stand. Such a model may have a solid base or small legs;
  • design on wheels, with the ability to move, if necessary, to the desired space;
  • a TV stand with a bracket that can be used to rotate it in the required direction;
  • suspended structures mounted directly to the wall, which creates the illusion that the furniture is “hovering” in the air. This is a newer development, widely used in modern design.

Modern TV stand: materials for manufacturing

TV furniture can be made from materials such as natural wood, chipboard, MDF, plastic or glass. Models made of wood are recognized as the most reliable and durable, but they have a relatively high price. Most often they are used in classic designs, but since modern TV stands are often made using several materials, they may well fit into other styles.

Chipboard is a material obtained by pressing wood chips with synthetic resins. It is used in the manufacture of cabinet furniture quite often. Chipboard structures are much cheaper than wooden ones, but are significantly inferior to them in strength.

A positive feature of plastic models is their wide range in different colors. At the same time, the plastic cabinet is not highly durable and can be used as a stand for light modern TVs.

Glass TV stands (as seen in the photo) create a feeling of weightlessness. They are practically invisible in the interior, due to which they do not clutter up the space. For such structures, hardened materials are used, which makes it possible to withstand the weight of even large-sized equipment. Due to their transparency, glass models will suit any interior color scheme.

TV stands: photos and characteristics of furniture in different styles

Of course, when choosing furniture, it is worth remembering that it must correspond to the overall interior design of the room. Today, choosing beautiful TV stands, photos of which are in our catalog, is not so difficult. To do this, you need to know the main features inherent in a particular direction.

TV stand in classic style

Classic style is always elegance, aristocracy, chic and sophistication. Furniture can be made from any material, but natural wood remains the most popular in this direction. A TV stand in a classic style made of wood can have beautiful openwork carvings, as well as forged elements. It should be massive, but graceful and, at the same time, look quite warm and cozy.

In addition to the classics, there are quite a few modern trends, the main feature of which is versatility and laconicism in design, the exclusion of any excesses. A TV stand in a modern minimalist style will be extremely simple. This could be, for example, a glass structure consisting of two shelves with a chrome riser. Less common are models made of wood or chipboard. In this case, the color of the cabinet should be in harmony with the appliances, while combinations of white with metallic or black are possible.

Technological progress cannot be stopped. It is increasingly invading our lives with new electronic devices and devices. Today no one is surprised by ultra-thin screens, home theaters, and Blu-Ray players. How to arrange such equipment, what furniture for a TV in the living room is best suited - we will now understand these issues.

Types of furniture for TV

TV is an integral part of many living room interiors. Sometimes he becomes a real member of the family, when in the evenings all the household members get together to discuss the affairs of the past day and watch some program. And often a convenient stand option is selected for the TV.

The choice of the right model is influenced by two factors:

  1. The number of equipment that connects to the TV. These can be game consoles, IP TV set-top boxes, audio amplifiers, receivers and more. Along with flat and thin models, there are also devices with a cathode ray tube, which differ in weight and size. Such large TVs weigh several tens of kilograms and take up a lot of space. Therefore, they need a reliable cabinet with a wide surface;
  2. Mounting method, or how the TV will be installed. Flat surfaces must be secure, stable and at the correct height. When mounting screens on the wall, you need to take care of the brackets and the location of additional equipment.

There was a time when television, along with radio, played an informational, entertainment and educational function. They were proud of the TV, showed it off to their neighbors, and carefully covered it with homemade napkins and covers. Today, when buying plasma and LCD panels, owners often try to choose the right diagonal, which will become a continuation of the interior and fit perfectly into any living room design.

When thinking about how and where to install the TV, you can focus on the following options:

  • Chest of drawers or nightstand. This is a traditional option, known since the last century. Its convenience lies in its dimensions, which allow it to install any model, and in the presence of additional open and closed shelves for television equipment, disks, and remote controls.

  • Counters and tables. Stands are metal supports equipped with brackets for securing the TV. Being on the floor, this model takes up little space. There are options combined with tables where it is convenient to store other items.

  • Modular or cabinet furniture. It is distinguished by its versatility and practicality. No additional space is required for a separate TV stand. This option is also suitable for a small apartment, since along with the TV it can accommodate a lot of other things.

Cabinets

The cabinet is a classic option used for installing a TV. The disappearance of bulky receivers with picture tubes from stores also produced a small revolution in the production of furniture for television equipment. Modern models of cabinets generally have an elongated shape and a shallow depth. They are designed for a panel that, although large in size, has good stability and can be placed on a narrow surface. Some versions of curved TVs require a cabinet with a deep countertop.

Modern design ideas sometimes create incredible things even from such a familiar object as a TV stand. Classic versions are mounted on wheels, equipped with lighting and various decorative elements. Neo-models are increasingly reminiscent of fantastic objects. But no matter what the cabinet looks like, it must have the following qualities:

  • sustainability;
  • additional functions;
  • convenience;
  • interesting design;
  • capacity.

The modern TV stand, like the classic model, has good content. This is often the decisive argument in its favor. The TV is purchased with additional equipment that must be placed nearby. The number of these devices determines the content of the stand. Free shelves can be occupied by disks, magazines, books and other things.

The TV stand has a different structure. These can be models consisting of one or several modules, having open and closed shelves, compartments for disks, drawers for small items, pencil cases for front and side speakers. Choose a cabinet that matches the style of the living room.

If the living room is decorated in one of the modern technological styles: hi-tech, modern, techno - a fashionable TV stand can fit perfectly into the decor and serve as a storage unit for television equipment. In classic interiors, difficulties may arise when placing the same plasma or LCD panels. A cabinet like this can become a common element between modern appliances and lush classic design.

Types of cabinets

Among the variety of shapes, sizes and materials, several specific types of cabinets can be distinguished:

Model with bracket

There is a special stand where the TV is located. It allows you to expand the panel and change the viewing angle. The lower components are filled with related equipment and other things;

Hanging cabinet

In this version, everything is located on shelves that have no support on the floor and are attached to the walls. A living room with such furniture creates a feeling of weightlessness and flight. It is more appropriate in rooms with a modern interior;

Chest of drawers

This is a universal model for a small living room, and the presence of many lockable shelves and drawers will replace a wardrobe for storing clothes. Furniture with a built-in bar is also available for sale;

Corner cabinet

This option will look good in a small living room. It will perfectly save square meters of a small room, having the same functionality as large models.

The modern furniture market offers a large selection of TV stands. In order not to get confused in the variety of options and choose the right model, you should follow some rules:

  • Choose the right size. The cabinet can be equal to the TV or have a greater length;
  • Internal filling is also important. Depending on the amount of additional equipment, an option with suitable content is selected;

  • Find out the maximum load of the cabinet. Modern flat panels can also be quite heavy. Plus additional devices. Therefore, it is better to purchase a model with some margin of safety;
  • Depending on the size and layout of the living room, buy a cabinet of a certain shape and length. For a small room, an option with high side shelves for other things is suitable;

Know! A good choice for a compact living room would be a small flat bedside table, and for a spacious living room a long designer model with many shelves would be suitable.

  • Models on wheels will be convenient for moving television equipment at the request of the owners.

Racks

Television stands, which can be equipped with shelves and surfaces for additional equipment, look elegant and light in the living room interior. This holder is also convenient because it allows you to hide all the wires in the cable channel. Compactness and various shapes make it possible to use such a stand in a small living room, where every square meter is taken into account by the owners.

They have racks and a lot of other advantages that have allowed them to become a popular and modern furniture element:

  • Large selection of models from various materials. This helps to choose a universal option for each buyer;
  • Easy to install. No tools are required to install the stand and secure the TV in it, covering the wires and connectors;
  • Height adjustment. You can fix the panel at a convenient level, depending on the height of the upholstered furniture;
  • Possibility to move to another location. Some models are equipped with wheels, allowing you to install the stand in a place convenient for the owners;
  • Additional shelves. Not available for all models. Each buyer himself thinks over the functionality of the rack and decides whether to purchase a sample with shelves or not;
  • Ability to change the angle of rotation to the desired degree;
  • Reliable fastenings designed for heavy loads;
  • Ensuring proper operation of the TV;
  • Durability and maximum aesthetics.

Types of racks

There are no universal designs. And when choosing a rack for a specific living room, you usually need to decide which option to prefer: wall-mounted or floor-mounted. In the first case, we get space savings and a static mount; it will no longer be possible to rotate or move the TV in height. Floor stands are more practical, but you will have to find a place for them.

Based on their design features, the following types of racks can be distinguished:

  • Mounted with a rotating mechanism. It is characterized by a special panel that rotates around a support. Having moved in the living room, you can change the angle of rotation of the frame with the TV;

  • Floor-standing with roller wheels. This design can easily change its location at the request of the homeowner. Typically, such racks are not equipped with rotating mechanisms;
  • Tabletop. A convenient option for a small room. Allows you to place the TV on the table when there is a shortage of space;

  • Stand with bracket. Helps to change the level of installation of the TV as needed to the desired height.

There are interesting design models in the form of separate legs, easels, glass desks, tables, made in various versions. Racks are made of metal, wood, and combined models contain glass. The holders themselves are made of durable aluminum.

When purchasing this type of TV furniture, pay attention to the following aspects:

  • Combination with the design concept of the room. It is unlikely that such a structure made of stainless steel with a metallic coating and tempered dark glass would be appropriate in a living room designed in the Baroque or Empire style;
  • Safe to use. It is also worth finding out about the maximum load that the planes and the TV holder itself can bear. It is better to opt for shelves made of tempered glass with a thickness of at least 6 mm with a safe edge. If there are children in the family, then you need to think about the most sustainable model;
  • Combination with a specific TV and other equipment. You need to find out about this from the sellers in the store, whether the option you like is suitable for your equipment. If you have additional devices, it will be more convenient to have a rack with cable channels that will help hide many wires.

Some models of cabinets and racks have a special motorized elevator. It is usually used in stylish modern living rooms, which have many technical innovations and solutions. This design is controlled using a remote control. The TV lift has different lifting speeds and the ability to rotate the screen depending on the power of the motor.

There are several modifications of this design, but the following are more often used:

  • Finished cabinet or chest of drawers. It is the place in the niche of which the TV is located. It is also designed for additional equipment. The cabinet is used for TVs with a diagonal of no more than 40 inches;

  • Monoblock. Self-contained model with lift. It is purchased based on the specific size and weight of the TV. It can be designed for devices with a diagonal of up to 37 inches, but there are mechanisms for 55-inch TVs.

Modular or cabinet furniture

Since Soviet times, television has been registered in cabinet walls, but there was a limitation on the size of the equipment. Modern versions of such furniture can accommodate almost any size of appliances. Properly selected modules accommodate other electronics, as well as clothes, books, accessories and much more.

There are two types of walls based on design features and configuration.

  1. Wall cabinet. Small-sized furniture consists of a minimum number of elements. The long lower cabinet with space for a TV has several separate cabinets; it can also be wall-hung. Additional shelves and drawers are located on top or on the side;

  1. Wall cabinet. This option combines open and closed shelves, a wardrobe, a cupboard for dishes and other functional elements. It also has a special shelf for a TV or a separate through niche, where the panel can be attached to the wall of the living room, and the rest of the equipment can be placed on the shelves.

Style solutions for cabinet furniture

Furniture walls, which provide niches and shelves for television equipment, are available in various styles: from classic options to country-style solutions. Let's look at the most striking features of such models:

  • Classic. Such walls are suitable for many interiors. They consist of a traditional set of modules: a cabinet, a niche for TV, shelves, a sideboard. They are made in a strict form and classic colors, they lack pretentiousness and pomp;

  • Minimalism. Basically, this option contains modular structures that can be assembled in various forms. A traditional feature of such walls is the presence of natural materials, for example, solid wood. There are practically no special niches for a TV; it is mounted on one of the panels;

  • Modern. The distinctive features of such walls are usually the presence of clear rectangular shapes, contrast, asymmetry in the arrangement of modules, differences in height and color. There are no shelves for the TV. It is usually located on the wall or bottom row of cabinets;

  • High tech. The priority for such walls is artificial materials, chrome elements, and module lighting. It is imperative to have the most modern technology, conveniently built into the furniture.

Furniture for TV in the living room is made of different materials. For people with good incomes, solid wood options are available. Common traditional products are made of MDF and glass. Chipboard coated with melanin is also used in the production.

Know! When buying furniture for TV, you need to take care of safety. If the panels of the cabinet or walls have a strong smell and this aroma does not go away for several days, this will indicate the poor quality of the materials used. Such products are not worth buying.

Rules for installing television equipment

A TV in the living room is a necessary and familiar thing for many families. Modern devices are large in size, have bright colors and clear images. And although the electromagnetic radiation in them is several times less than in the old analogues with cathode ray tubes, the television equipment must be located taking into account certain features. Depending on this, you have to choose both furniture for the TV and its installation location:

  • The distance from the person to the TV should be such that you can easily see the entire screen. A simple calculation method shows that from a panel with a diagonal of 92 cm (36 inches) to a person’s eye a distance of 4-5 meters is needed. Therefore, large TV screens are not suitable for living rooms with a small area;
  • The viewing angle for a regular TV must be greater than 30°; there are different rules for plasma and LCD panels;
  • The height of the monitor usually varies within 70 cm from the floor. But there may be exceptions here too. If you watch TV while sitting on low upholstered furniture, then it should be placed on a stand such that the screen is on a line parallel to the floor, mentally drawn from the eyes;
  • Cabinets and racks are not placed next to heating devices; direct sunlight and lamp light directed at the TV are harmful to screens;
  • The size of the surface of the furniture on which the TV is installed should be such that there are several centimeters between the back surface of the device and the wall;
  • Sockets for television equipment are usually located behind the furniture; they should be accessible, but not too noticeable. Therefore, their location is usually planned during renovation.

The large dimensions of modern technology have made it not only an element of leisure, but also brought it to the position of key elements of the interior. One of the most noticeable objects can be safely called a TV. To correctly fit it into the decor of the room, you need to choose a cabinet that matches it. Hanging options will look good.

Hanging TV stand in the interior - advantages and features

By equipping your living room with a hanging TV stand, you will kill several birds with one stone:

  • Pairs well with modern flat screen TVs. When placed together they give a very fashionable accent to the entire interior of the room;
  • Does not make cleaning floors difficult. Dust does not accumulate under them;
  • Allows efficient use of space;
  • Serves as a complete storage system.

The TV can not only be installed on the top panel of the cabinet. A flat screen suspended above a cabinet looks much more original. For this, special brackets are used. There is still one drawback to this approach. The wires will be visible. But the chic appearance partially pays for it.

If you have the desire and skillful hands, you can equip the cable from the TV with decorative elements. In this case, it will become an additional decoration. Although, more often they simply make hidden wiring, or cover them with elements of hanging shelves and cabinets.

Design and dimensions of suspended TV stands

The frame of the hanging TV stand includes a full set of traditional parts:

  • Upper horizon;
  • 2 side panels;
  • Back wall;

A very wide range of materials are used to manufacture these elements:

  • All types of particle boards (OSB, fiberboard, chipboard, MDF) and their varnished versions (LDSP, LMDF);
  • Wood massif;
  • Plastic;
  • Metal;
  • Glass.

The dimensions of the bedside tables depend entirely on their shape:

  • Wide. Usually hung at the bottom of the main “blank” wall of the hall. The width starts from 1.2 meters. The widest model reaches a length of 3 meters. Moreover, these models are characterized by their small height and depth. They vary between 45 - 55 cm;
  • Narrow. Never act as a basis. But, they are often included as accompanying parts of the headset. Their height can reach 1 meter, and their width is on average 30 – 35 cm;
  • High. The average height is 80 cm with a depth of 45 cm. The width can be any, but it will not be less than the height. The optimal value is double the height.

Not all models of hanging cabinets are suitable for the bedroom. This is due to their considerable dimensions. And watching TV while lying down is extremely harmful. This spoils not only vision, but also posture. At worst, get a special orthopedic pillow.

Wall mounting methods

Not so long ago, the only way to place a large cabinet on the wall was with anchor bolts. It didn't look very aesthetically pleasing. And reliability depended entirely on the quality of the partition’s masonry. Today, furniture canopies are in increasing demand for these purposes. They are 2 plates, movably fastened together. Specially designed for hanging lower tiers of furniture. One mount can withstand up to 120 kg of load. After installation, they allow you to adjust the placement of the cabinet in depth and height by 2 cm in each direction. Additionally equipped with a pair of plugs. Despite the serious endurance in terms of weight, never mount one canopy in the center. Use at least 2 pieces along the edges. Even distribution of the load will improve the quality of the suspension.

No matter how reliable the chosen fastener is, the quality of the wall still affects the final result. The partition must be load-bearing. Failure to comply with this rule can result in expensive repairs and problems with neighbors.

What can a wall-hung TV stand be equipped with?

When deciding how to choose a wall-mounted TV stand, first decide what you will store in it. The standard storage system includes straight shelves in combination with drawers. The type of things stored depends not least on whether the shelves are open or hidden behind the doors. In open areas you can place decor, beautifully bound books, and vases. It's up to you to decide what to hide inside.

In this regard, additional equipment of the cabinet is important. This may include:

  • Backlight. Helps you create an unusual design. Even if it is not provided in the basic configuration, this element is easy to install yourself;
  • Sockets. You will also have to attach them yourself. They will be needed at a convenient distance from the TV;
  • Niches for equipment. It is desirable that these sections have no back wall. This helps improve natural air cooling;
  • Section for dishes. It will look especially beautiful with interior lighting.

There is no need to install large speakers or a subwoofer on a suspended wall. The oscillations and vibrations they create can result in the cabinet falling or the fasteners loosening.

Facades - opening methods

The front side of the cabinet with doors is called the facade. The most commonly used types of facade opening systems are:

  • Swing. The sash is attached to the intersectional partition or sidewall using furniture movable hinges. A very reliable method of hanging a door. But the system does not tolerate strong jerks or pressure. This may cause the fastener to break. When open, it takes up a lot of space;
  • Folding. A convenient option for a wall-mounted TV stand. In addition to standard hinges, side holders with an open position lock are added. You will also need enough space in front of the cabinet. Do not try to pull the sash down after the latch clicks. This way you can tear out the holders;
  • Retractable. This is a traditional drawer fitting system. Provision is made for mounting narrow side guides and small rollers. The internal contents are protected from dust;
  • Sliding. The sashes are fastened with hinges in pairs. Equipped with an upper guide with a roller carriage. When opened they move to the side. The doors themselves fold like a book. When folded, they will stick out. The system is distinguished by ease of use and low noise level.

What to consider when choosing a TV stand

The process of installing wall-mounted TV stands is complicated by additional requirements. It’s not enough to just choose a load-bearing wall. You will have to adapt to the features of the TV. Here are the mandatory requirements:

  • No windows. Moreover, they should not be not only on the wall where you place the TV, but also opposite it. Direct or oblique sunlight will significantly spoil your viewing process. Light-exposed spots will appear on the screen, and the color will be noticeably distorted. This rule does not apply only to the latest technology - OLED screens. And then they should be concave. If you cannot find such a place due to poor planning, then get very thick curtains;
  • If the TV has a support and you plan to place it on the surface of the cabinet, then strictly guide the height of its hanging. The center of the screen must be at least 1.2 meters above the floor. Place the screen against the wall. Mark not only the center point, but also where the TV support leg ends. This way you can easily understand at what height to hang the cabinet. If the screen is attached to the wall, then its upper third should be located at eye level of the person sitting opposite. For the bedroom, the installation height is slightly reduced. On average, 1 meter is recommended. In general, do not overuse watching TV while lying down;
  • Another important criterion is the distance from the TV to the chair or sofa. There is an interesting principle at work here. Measure the screen diagonal. The minimum distance should be 3 or 4 of its diagonals. The following standards are recommended. Diagonal 42 inches – 110 cm, 46 – 120 cm, 50 – 130 cm, 57 – 145 cm, 65 – 165 cm, 73 – 185 cm;
  • Viewing angle. Wall-mounted cabinet options completely lose mobility. Therefore, give preference to TV models with a movable leg. This will allow you to rotate the screen. It is also better to choose wall brackets with the ability to move the screen horizontally or push it forward. Such fasteners will, of course, cost you more, but not so much as to ruin your vision.

A TV stand is a worthy addition to modern technology. So that it does not look like an alien bulky object in the interior, you need to approach the choice very responsibly. And before that, it would be useful to find out what designs, materials and colors are in trend today.

Design options

The most common are small rectangular cabinets, which are only slightly larger than the TV installed on them. They are complemented by shelves and hinged doors, and on their back wall there are holes for wires and cables.

Modern TV stand

The following designs are also made in a rectangular shape:

  • open type with shelves on vertical supports;
  • in the form of a horizontal panel with 2 side walls;
  • in the form of an element in which you can hide the TV behind the doors if you do not consider it worthy of attention.

Full glass TV stand

For connoisseurs of high-quality and comfortable TV, a model with a tabletop that rotates on bearings will be convenient - this way the cabinet will not change position, and the screen can easily rotate to the angle you need.

Cabinets can be massive or light, stationary or mobile (in the latter case they are supplemented with wheels). They are also popular - they are incredibly ergonomic and help to rationally use the space of the room.

Steel cabinet with glass shelves

Both fundamental heavy structures and light shelves that do not clutter up the space are made in corners.

Corner TV stand

However, modern cabinets are already quite compact - they are narrow, since ultra-flat television screens are now the most popular.

In addition, TV stands can be floor-standing or hanging. In the first case, they are a free-standing piece of furniture on legs or roller wheels. And hanging ones are a more modern option, allowing you to create a spacious atmosphere. This is more of a spacious shelf that can decorate the entire wall, and not just the area under the TV panel.

Materials from which cabinets are made

TV stands are rarely made from solid wood - the only exception is furniture in the classical style or the style of baroque palace luxury. For modern interiors, furniture made from veneered MDF or laminated chipboard is often chosen. And if a technological interior is being designed, then designs made of metal, glass and plastic are preferred - fortunately, the choice is huge.

Long hanging cabinet

The glass for TV stands can be tinted, transparent or frosted - but, in any case, it will be tempered (this is important for safety reasons).

Many modern models are based precisely on the use of glass - in different shades, with different surface effects. In combination with warm wood, this material looks airy and calm, and in combination with shiny chromed metal it becomes dynamic.

Chipboard cabinet

But still the most common material can be called chipboard. Such slabs are classified by composition, thickness, type of coating and design.

Important. The safest option from an environmental point of view is with a melamine coating of class E1 according to European standards.

This coating is also stylish - it can imitate stone and wood, have a smooth surface or a pronounced texture.

Veneered materials are also popular, because natural wood is used for their production. Veneer refers to thin plates of valuable species with a thickness of no more than 1.0 mm - this can be walnut, oak, beech, cherry, wenge or sapele.

If chipboard or MDF is used for the body of the TV stand, then it is necessary to use another material - a special end edge, melamine or plastic. It protects furniture from damage, gives a finished look to the edges and prevents moisture from getting under the protective layer.

Choice of color and style

It is impossible to choose a TV stand without paying attention to its color. But here you have to take several factors into account:

  • what shades are used in the interior, the general design style;
  • colors of nearby furniture;
  • the tone of the housing of the TV itself and the equipment that complements it.

Wooden cabinet in eco-style

For example, if the room is decorated in a minimalist or Scandinavian style, then bleached, light wood tones are preferable for the cabinet. If we are talking about ethno and classics, then the wood will be darker natural shades - chocolate, brown.

High-tech style cabinet

Among all types of wood, the most in demand are exclusive dark ones, as well as walnut - with a rich texture and picturesque pattern.

TV stand in classic style

Cabinets in modern interiors can be steel, white or black - then they seem to merge with the television panel, freeing up even more space.
