How to get a job if you have no experience. I am not hired because I have no work experience - what should I do? We disassemble the problem by the bones

  • 21.09.2019

Recently, a friend called me with whom I had not communicated for a long time. We chatted for a long time, discussed what had happened in each other's life in recent years. I continued to work in the same large petrochemical holding, albeit in a different direction. She said goodbye to her small business associated with the fashion industry and is currently no longer working. We both have grown children who are thirty years old and we devoted most of our conversation to discussing their problems. And a friend asked to help find a job for her son in the company where I worked.

In the minds of most people, there is a strong opinion that it is possible to get a job in large and successful companies only “by acquaintance”. I didn’t dissuade her that the world had changed and simply asked her to reset Andrey’s resume. That was the name of her 32 year old son.

Very soon, the resume "dropped" in the mail. Graduate of the Gubkin University of Oil and Gas. Graduate studies there (a successful strategy for leaving military service). Work as a junior researcher in some research center at the same institute. From the acquired skills: core research, laboratory research of the structures of oil-bearing soils and something else of the same kind.

I read and understand, taking into account our standards and requirements, a no-pass option. Even the president of the company of his nephew with such a set of knowledge and skills could not accept.

I would like to clarify a little what it is like to hire an employee in a large company. The specificity of most of these companies is that any process, whether it is a business trip, receiving visitors, holding a meeting or hiring a new employee - everything is clearly spelled out. Accordingly, all steps related to the hiring of an employee are regulated. Who and how carries out the initial selection and interview.

It must be said that it is at this primary level that the compliance of the candidate's competencies (i.e. those that he reflected in his resume) with the required competencies of the position is checked. Any vacancy has a set of competencies, such as work experience in a particular field, skills, personal abilities, etc. At the same time, not only the skills and abilities themselves are prescribed, but also the criteria by which they can be measured. Personnel selecting candidates for work undergo special training courses, including those on personality psychology. Sometimes the company tests candidate applicants. Usually online. The simplest tests are verbal and numerical.

Here is the profile of a real candidate for the position of a specialist in the analytical department of one of the companies (without explanatory comments):

After testing or assessing competencies, the candidate's resume is reviewed by the Security Service. They check whether the candidate has had any activities prohibited by law in the past, or maybe he is a shareholder of a CJSC that leads commercial activities close to the activities of the employer and a conflict of interest may arise. They have their own specifics.

Then one or two more interviews with executives above the level of vice president and you can finally be accepted. Everything-about-everything takes 1-2 months.

I am writing about this in such detail so as not to create a false impression that if "by acquaintance", then this process can be bypassed. It involves too many people and systems.

So, if you dream of working in a large successful company, then you should not rely on acquaintances. The only advantage of such "acquaintance" is the knowledge of the very fact of the organization's need for an employee, and this may be the very "happy chance". Otherwise, it's better to rely on yourself.

Think and try to answer the following questions for yourself:

  • what skills do you have, what are your strengths?
  • what achievements are you proud of? Maybe this is the organization of a sports Olympiad at a university or support for an orphanage near your dacha or something else?
  • what is the criterion for achieving a result for you?
  • What does the word "initiative" mean in your understanding? is it the first to express your idea, opinion or is it something else?
  • how do you imagine the position you are applying for?
  • what can you specifically give to the company in which you want to work?

Perhaps these questions and / or will help you to switch your focus of attention inward and understand what you lack to make you interested in the company in which you dream of working.

But what to do with a friend's request? Do not deprive her of hope. I make a decision: to conduct an interview with him. I'll look at him and maybe give this guy something useful.

I will write about what came of this in the article)))

The situation on the labor market in Russia is such that many people, especially those who, for whatever reason, found themselves without education, profession, a certain length of service, or belong to the category of young professionals (graduates of universities, colleges), are faced with a situation in which they have to to conduct a long search for work. For some, it takes months, for some, in the end, it is forced (even if there is higher education) to be content with low-skilled labor, to get a job of low prestige.

As a rule, employers do not want to hire people without experience - it is not profitable for them to train young specialists, “yesterday's” students, everyone wants “ready” professionals. If you are among the applicants with no experience, but at the same time there is a serious desire to work (and not just stand at the labor exchange for a meager allowance), you should radically change the situation on your own. The main thing in this business is not to despair, and then, with little effort and time, it will be possible to apply for good vacancies with an acceptable salary and comfortable conditions work.

What to do, where to go, how to look for ways out of this situation? Questions that worry the minds of many able-bodied citizens who cannot find a job due to lack of experience are looking everywhere for help and professional advice... We suggest that you familiarize yourself with some recommendations that may help you change the current state of affairs.

Who can get a job without experience in a big city?

Decide on your specialization

To begin with, you should decide on a goal, specialization - to understand what you are really interested in, in what professional direction there is a desire to move through life.

It often happens that after graduating from a college or institute, a young man only after graduation realizes that he has chosen a specialty by mistake, he does not like it, does not suit him. There are other situations when people of mature age (even with a lot of experience) lose their jobs for any reason, or understand that they are not interested in the field of activity in which they have been "stewed" for many years. And then some of them make a volitional decision for themselves - to change their profession. This will be a way out of the situation, both for a young specialist who has just finished his studies, and for an adult.

Self-study

Having made for yourself an important decision related to the change of specialization, it is advisable to engage in self-study. Most available ways self-study:
  • Online training. Having at hand a computer or other gadget with Internet access, you can, if you wish, find a lot of training programs, master classes (including free ones) that will help you master the skills of a particular profession.
  • Library, bookstores. Many large libraries have classrooms equipped with computer technology, cozy reading rooms, where it is possible for hours, completely free of charge, to learn something new for oneself. In the same place (or in bookstores) you can find the necessary special literature.

Take courses

Perhaps it is worth enrolling in courses that you have long dreamed of, but put on the back burner, or attend seminars, trainings conducted by professionals in this field. Many tempting offers can be found in various print publications and the Internet. The opportunities that open up thanks to technology are so wide that if you really want to, you can study for anyone, at any age, depending on the time frame and the forms of training that are convenient for you personally. There are weekly, monthly, annual courses, full-time, part-time, distance learning options.

On the Internet, you can find many virtual lecture halls - sites with a selection of courses, often accompanied by visual videos. The main thing is to make your schedule correctly and overcome the procrastinator within yourself.

Make a resume

After going through retraining, completing training in the chosen specialty, then the next important stage on the way to employment is writing a resume. If you do not know how to properly prepare it, it will not be difficult (again via the Internet) to find samples, examples. We have already talked in more detail about the intricacies of writing a resume, but now remember the main thing: one vacancy - one resume.

How to find a job without experience and connections

Place an emphasis on your merits in your resume, try to be creative, where possible - use not dry stationery and stereotyped phrases, but a more original, lively and necessarily complete (and truthful!) Presentation of information about yourself.

Remember that student gigs and classes can be interpreted in terms of professional skills. Have you written term papers? You have basic copywriting skills! Developing a science project with other students? Have experience working in a team!

Where to find work without experience

If you have already definitely decided on the specialization, urgently go in search. You can research suitable companies and jobs in your city even before you graduate from university / courses. If you are still studying, try to grab any more or less worthy offer or internship in order to increase your level of professionalism in the eyes of employers.

The best way to find a job without experience is to register at the labor exchange. There you can go training courses- free of charge or for a nominal cost. With a diploma of completion of the courses, you will be able to receive job referrals from the exchange. Also at the labor exchange, job advertisements are always freely available. It is quite possible to get a job through the stock exchange without experience, besides, most often state enterprises place their vacancies here, which are difficult to get from outside. And that means good benefits and protection.

But not a single exchange. Take any newspaper or Internet site, read all the ads in a row, very often you can find the postscript “you can do it without experience,” that is, it is assumed that the employer wants to train an employee “from scratch” according to his needs.

Where to post a job ad

  1. Job sites. Modern personnel officers in large and small enterprises first of all look at websites with resumes. A well-written resume posted on a popular visited site is 90% of success.
  2. Local newspapers with ads. In every such newspaper, there is usually a coupon for a free ad on the last sheet. You need to cut it out, fill it out carefully and send it to the editorial office.
  3. If you provide any services (for example, a loader, a hairdresser, a make-up artist, a tutor), do not disdain message boards on poles and on entrances residential buildings... Print your ad with tear-off phones, post in your area.
  4. Contact a recruiting agency. They are constantly building a database of applicants, helping to create a good resume.
  5. Let your friends know that you are looking for a job. Word of mouth works great. Let's say your friend's classmate shares that he needs an employee, and the friend immediately proposes your candidacy.

Prepare for your interview

The last stage before the interview is preparation for it. Collect the documents that you have at your disposal:
  • the passport;
  • work book (if any);
  • diplomas;
  • certificates of completion of courses, etc.
Scroll through the literature, notes, think over what questions a HR specialist can ask you, formulate the answers to them in your mind. Pay attention to your appearance, focus on business style in clothes.

Arriving at a meeting, discard the excitement, focus on the dialogue, try to behave at ease, but at the same time collected, not cheeky. Self-control, self-control, clear answers to the questions posed will be a plus for your characterization. We know it's okay to be anxious before a job interview, but try to get yourself together. Learn in advance how to calm down in an emergency.

If you can't get the interview right the first time, don't consider rejection as a failure. It will be good experience- next time you will be able to present yourself and your advantages more competently. Arm yourself with perseverance and the result will not take long. We invite you to find out what traits make you a valuable employee.

The world is full of absurdity. A striking example is getting a job: they do not take a job without experience, but in order to get it, you need to work. Yesterday's students, faced with such a situation, grab their heads and do not know what to do. But there is a way out. Let's figure out how to get a job without experience and education.

How to get a job without experience

Entering the university, many thought that after graduating from it, they would immediately get a high-paying job. However, at interviews, the most common phrase is “We will call you back”. What's the matter? Lack of experience. But how can you get it if you are not hired?

Experience is a loose concept. It is received not only by working in the specialty, but also in related positions. If you want to get a job as a personnel manager - first, make your way to the position of an assistant. This principle applies to all industries.

Popular vacancies where they take without experience:

  1. Network marketing.

Some network companies have already gotten everyone with their obsession. However, network marketing has not lost its benefits from this. An active person with a hanging tongue is able to achieve here high heights... The main thing is entrepreneurship and the ability to go beyond the promotion schemes that the company offers.

Choose young firms that have not yet ruined their reputation. Due to low-quality goods and aggressive marketing in large companies, it is unrealistic to break through.

  1. Waiter.

The main requirements for this profession are neatness, good looks, physical and moral stability. Experience is not required, however, having received it, you can get a job in an institution where wealthy people gather. This promises a high salary and a decent tip, which often exceeds the salary.

A friendly and courteous waiter can make a career in the restaurant business, rising to the manager and general manager of the chain. However, for this it is necessary to work not a single shift for 12, and sometimes 15 hours, while always smiling.

  1. Realtor.

It is nowhere easier to get a job at a real estate agency, since they usually have a wild turnover of personnel. This is alarming, and for good reason. Not everyone is allowed to conclude deals. You need to know at least the basics of sales and psychology.

The realtor lives for a percentage of the transactions for the sale and rental of real estate. Of course, this is not the same as selling vacuum cleaners, however, the commission is much higher here. By selling a prestigious apartment or house, the agent receives several tens of thousands of dollars.

  1. Freelance.

Remote work is a lifesaver for young professionals, especially in the field of IT technologies. Experience is not required, but the income of a freelancer depends on it. The better the order is made, the higher the price tag for it.

Freelancers earn money for programmers, web designers, copywriters, translators, editors, content managers, SEO specialists, and artists. This list includes all professions that are not tied to the workplace.

To find a freelance job, register on the exchanges and fulfill orders, gradually filling your portfolio. After you acquire several regular clients and gain experience, gradually raise the cost of the work. So you get rid of penny orders and attract more "fat" employers.

  1. Shop assistant.

Suitable for people who like to communicate and want to make a career in sales. Work without experience in this area is not uncommon. The main thing here is to navigate the parameters of the goods and be able to explain the advantages of one over the other.

In large chains, sellers household appliances and electronics are getting good money. A competent specialist who regularly helps people with a choice can build a worthy career in this field.

  1. Courier.

Working as a courier does not require experience, but you need to be resilient and resistant to stress. Young people can get a job in several online stores, develop an effective route and deliver goods to the post office or to the customer's door. To handle a large volume of parcels, you need a personal car.

If you build a delivery scheme, work out some of the nuances of work, then good income provided. Subsequently, all this can develop into own service delivery, and there is completely different money spinning.

  1. Working specialties.

If you do not know how to find a job as a turner or a milling machine operator, do not be discouraged. Many blue-collar jobs are trained in factories and factories. Of course, no one is allowed right behind the machine. Therefore, you will have to work as an apprentice for some time.

In practice, training takes place much faster than at the desks of schools, so after a year ‒ one and a half people gain enough experience to independent work... It is hard work, but it brings a stable and predictable income.

How to get a job without education

Many people in search of work are faced with a double problem: they have neither experience nor education. Usually these are those who do not want to work in their specialty or who have not studied at the university. How to get a job with such an “incredible” resume? Here are four guidelines:

  • Learn to solve problems.

Remember the truth - money is paid not for the fives in the diploma, but the ability to solve the assigned tasks. If you do it efficiently and meet the deadlines, the specialist gets even more income and quickly grows up the career ladder.

Tell us about your problem-solving experience in the interview, how you approach this issue in a professional and personal life... Prepare (come up with) some stories that will show your best qualities as a specialist.

Analyze the position you want to get. What kind of person does the company want to see in this place? You can directly ask this question to the HR manager and, based on the answer, build a self-presentation.

  • Get an alternative education.

It doesn't matter to the employer how much the applicant wiped his pants at the institute. It is important for him what knowledge and skills he received during this time. Therefore, if you have learned how to do the work yourself, learning from video tutorials or in practice, this will be enough to get on the trial period.

As a rule, self-education gives much more knowledge than full-time education, since a person approaches this issue more responsibly and does not spray into insignificant disciplines.

  • Do not attach importance.

Education is only one of the points of the resume and is far from the most important one. Don't give it too much importance. The obsession with one's own inadequacy instills the uncertainty that recruiting managers are bound to feel.

Learn to present yourself by describing own experience problem solution. Emphasize the merits. In some cases, even speaking at a student event will be considered an advantage, as it will show you as an active person and not afraid of public speaking.

  • There is a diploma, but not, as it were.

As a rule, no one asks for a diploma, especially in private companies. However, if asked to show, tell them you will later. Usually, the presence of a document with grades is a simple formality. Therefore, having received a job, the main thing is to do it well, then everyone will happily forget about the diploma.

That's all. Now you know how to get a job without experience. The vacancies listed are just examples.

Understand that success and career do not depend on the crust received at the university, personal and professional quality person. In the first stages, it is enough to do the work normally and not mow too much, and then experience will appear, and it is not far from the promotion.

Moscow is a city of opportunities and prospects. According to the studies conducted, it is in the capital of the Russian Federation that the highest salaries in the territory of the Russian Federation. Therefore, it is not surprising that many residents of provincial towns strive to get into the metropolis and find jobs in order to get a good income.

But as practice shows, difficulties in finding work in this city arise not only among residents of other regions, but also among Muscovites themselves. They often ask themselves how to find a job in Moscow with a good salary and acceptable working conditions. Initially, it should be noted that there are two ways to find a job:

  1. On one's own.
  2. With the help of a recruiting agency.

It is not difficult to find a normal job in the capital of the Russian Federation on your own. But it is worth initially preparing for the fact that, most likely, you will have to go through more than one interview and spend a lot of time, effort and patience. Moscow employers are very selective in the choice of hired workers when it comes to highly paid specialties, because, as a rule, for a high wages many apply, so employers “have a lot to choose from”.

An important aspect in finding a place of employment is citizenship and the presence of a Moscow residence permit (or Moscow region).

As practice shows, it is not just difficult, but almost impossible to get a high-paying job without registration.

This is due to the fact that most of the high-paying positions involve financial responsibility, so employers do not want to risk hiring a person living in another city. We are offering to you

To independently search for vacancies from direct employers, you can use sites such as:

On the above sites, various vacancies are published daily for the female and male half of humanity. Many of these portals post vacancies for citizens of retirement age or people with disabilities.

The search principle is pretty simple. The person draws up a resume and sends it to the vacancy of his choice. If the resume meets the requirements of the employer, then the applicant is invited for an interview. For a greater likelihood of employment, it is recommended to post your resume not on one site, but at least on 3-4 portals.

One of the most famous sites where you can find a vacancy is called the "Interactive Portal of the Employment Center of the City of Moscow".

Job search with a recruiting agency

Recruiting agencies are recruiting organizations. Recruitment agencies help in career guidance, production and adjustment of resumes, as well as in their mailing. Many large recruiting firms provide employment training.

When contacting recruiting agencies, it is worth remembering that they charge a fee for their services. On average, you have to pay 10 to 35% of the estimated annual salary. The cost of the services of a recruiting agency in Moscow can sometimes reach 60 thousand rubles.

It is also worth noting that the agency only selects a vacant place, but does not find employment. The fact of hiring depends on the employer.

  1. Skyman. The organization is recruiting employees for retail.
  2. "TS Persona". This firm is engaged in the selection of personnel for the restaurant business.

The main rules when looking for a job

Initially, a person needs to decide on what position he wants to get a job and what salary to receive.

The basic rules for finding a job are:

  1. Perseverance. If multiple employers haven't responded to your resume, don't despair.
  2. Using various sources. You do not need to limit yourself to searching only on the Internet. Today many vacancies are published in periodicals and newspapers.
  3. A well-written resume is already half the battle. It should be short but informative. The resume should highlight the work experience and personal qualities of the person (merits and demerits). No spelling or stylistic errors are allowed in the preparation of the document. Agree, few people want to hire an illiterate specialist who makes mistakes in their own resume.
  4. Proper preparation for the interview. During the negotiations, you must show all your professionalism. It will not be superfluous to find out information about the company, the company where you plan to get a job.

Summary

A resume is an important part of a job search.

This is a paper version of a person's presentation to his future employer. The resume should include information such as:

Employment for different social groups

It is almost impossible for students in Moscow to find a high-paying job. Basically, students take seasonal, temporary work or work with daily pay.

Students in Moscow will be able to easily find a vacancy for a promoter, courier, animator, waiter, sales manager, security guard, seller, etc. It is worth remembering that these positions are very labor-intensive and low-paid. Basically, the payment for one working day does not exceed 1,000 rubles.

In the field of education, it will also not be possible to find a job at Good work... A woman who does not have a special education can find a job as a cleaner, dishwasher, maid, waitress, nurse, au pair, saleswoman, etc. P.

Without experience, finding a job with high earnings is also unlikely to succeed. But people with education have a chance to get a job that provides an opportunity for training and further career growth... There are cases when ordinary managers or waiters, after several years of work, became directors and managers.

Women and men with no work experience may find jobs with daily benefits. Job positions with daily payments:

No job can be found without experience, skeptics say. However, is it so? What to do when there is education (even if it is not finished yet) and the desire to work, but there is no practice? The portal gives advice to young professionals.

There are prospects!
In fact, you have a lot of chances of finding a job: according to a survey by the Research Center, university graduates with no work experience. Among large companies with more than 1000 employees, this figure is even higher - 82%. So don't listen to skeptics and start looking!

The sooner the better
No wonder they say that more often the winner is not the one who ran faster, but the one who ran out earlier. If you are serious about pursuing a successful career, start doing it as a student. Then, after receiving your diploma, you will be able to apply for a higher starting position and salary. After all, by this time you will already have professional experience!

Resume must be effective
As you know, the summary - main tool when looking for work. But how to draw it up if the "Work experience" section has nothing to fill in yet? Please enter the correct name of your university and specialty. At first glance, it may seem that there is nothing more to write about. However, think about it - are you really that inexperienced? Remember everything that can characterize you as a promising specialist. Perhaps you showed yourself well in educational practice and your manager is ready to confirm this with a letter of recommendation. Or your topic thesis related to the specifics of the vacancy you are interested in.

Having published your resume on job sites, you should not limit yourself to viewing vacancies and responding to them. Call recruiters, be interested in the fate of your resume, and in case of refusal, politely ask them to explain the reason - this will help prevent the same mistakes in the future. Having received an invitation for an interview, carefully prepare for it: study the available information about the company, think over appearance and the content of the upcoming conversation with the employer.

An internship is the beginning of a long journey
If you can't find a job in your specialty right away, start with an internship. The internship allows, as they say, to kill several birds with one stone: both earn extra money, and master important practical skills, and, possibly, get good recommendations for employment. At the same time, getting an internship is much easier than getting a job - use our service.

Salary will grow with experience
Many recruiters complain that they often face high salary expectations among university graduates, especially top ten universities. “I’m not ready to work for less than 70 thousand rubles, this is not why I studied for five years” - such “motivation” will not bring you closer to the desired position. Yesterday's student, who demands a high salary from the start, is not taken seriously by recruiters: they are more likely to see him as an inadequate personality with high self-esteem than a promising specialist.

Therefore, be prepared to moderate your financial appetites. In the first phase of your career, your main goal should be professional development rather than big earnings.

In secret to the whole world
When looking for a job, do not limit yourself to recruiting sites alone. Use other methods: contact the company directly, make useful contacts in professional communities (for example, through social networks), call your friends and acquaintances. The more people know that you are looking for a job, the more chances you have of meeting a potential employer.
