Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy, and according to the multitude of Thy mercies, cleanse my iniquity. First of all, wash me from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin; for I know my iniquity, and my sin before me is taken out. I have sinned against you alone and done evil before you; as if you were justified in your words, and conquered the judgment of Ty. Behold, I was conceived in iniquity, and in sins give birth to me, my mother. Behold, thou hast loved the truth; the unknown and secret wisdom of Thy revealed to me. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Give joy and joy to my hearing; the bones of the humble shall rejoice. Turn Your face away from my sins and cleanse all my iniquities. Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit away from me. Restore to the world the joy of Your salvation and confirm me with the Sovereign Spirit. I will teach the wicked in Your way, and the wicked will turn to You. Deliver me from blood, O God, God of my salvation; my tongue shall rejoice in thy righteousness. Lord, open my mouth, and my mouth will proclaim your praise. As if you would have desired sacrifices, you would have given them: you do not favor burnt offerings. Sacrifice to God the spirit is broken; a contrite and humble heart God will not despise. Please, O Lord, with Thy favor Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built. But I pray, falling down, my holy guardian, have mercy on me, your sinful and unworthy servant (name), be my helper and intercessor for the evil of my opponent, with your holy prayers, and make the Kingdom of God a partaker of me with all the saints, always, and now and forever and ever. The earth is the Lord's, and the fulfillment of it, the world, and all who dwell in it. He founded me on the seas, and prepared me to eat on the rivers. Who will ascend the mountain of the Lord? Or who will stand in His holy place? Innocent hands and pure in heart, who do not accept their soul in vain, and do not swear by their sincere flattery. This one will receive a blessing from the Lord, and alms from God, his Savior. This is the generation of those who seek the Lord, who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Lift up your gates, your princes, and lift up your eternal gates; and the King of Glory will enter. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord is mighty and mighty, the Lord is mighty in battle. Lift up your gates, your princes, and lift up your eternal gates, and the King of Glory will enter. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of Glory.

Psalm 115:
Verovah, the same exclaimed, but I humbled myself very much. But I rech in my rage: every man is a lie. What will I repay the Lord for all that I repay? I will take the cup of salvation, and I will call on the name of the Lord, I will give my prayers to the Lord before all His people. Honorable before the Lord is the death of His saints. O Lord, I am Your servant, I am Your servant and the son of Your handmaid; thou hast torn my bonds. I will devour thee a sacrifice of praise, and in the name of the Lord I will call. I will give my prayers to the Lord before all His people, in the courts of the house of the Lord, in the midst of you, Jerusalem.
Glory, and now: Alleluia (three times with three bows).

Troparion, tone 8:
Despise my iniquities, Lord, be born of the Virgin, and cleanse my heart, creating a temple to Your most pure Body and Blood, lower me from Your face, having great mercy without number.
Glory: In communion with Your holy things, how dare I, unworthy? Asha, I dare to approach You with the worthy, the tunic convicts me, as if there is an evening one, and I intercede for condemnation of my many-sinful soul. Cleanse, O Lord, the defilement of my soul, and save me, like a Lover of mankind.
And now: Many of my many, Mother of God, sins, I have resorted to You, Pure, demanding salvation: visit my infirm soul, and pray to Your Son and our God, give me remission, even the fierce fellows, One blessed.
(On Holy Forty Day:
When the glorious disciple at the ablution of the supper is enlightened, then Judas, the wicked with the love of money, having become darkened, and betrays the righteous Judge to the lawless judges. See, the property of the zealot, who used the strangulation for this sake: run the unsatisfied soul, the Teacher is so daring. Who is the good Lord of all, glory to Thee.)

Psalm 50:
Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy, and according to the multitude of Thy mercies, cleanse my iniquity. Wash me most of all from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin; for I know my iniquity, and my sin before me is taken out. I have sinned against you alone and done evil before you; as if you were justified in your words, and conquered when you judge Ty. Behold, I was conceived in iniquity, and in sins give birth to me, my mother. Behold, thou hast loved the truth; the unknown and secret wisdom of Thy revealed to me. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Give joy and joy to my hearing; the bones of the humble will rejoice. Turn Your face away from my sins and cleanse all my iniquities. Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Give me the joy of Your salvation and confirm me with the Sovereign Spirit. I will teach the wicked in Your way, and the wicked will turn to You. Deliver me from blood, O God, God of my salvation; my tongue rejoices in thy righteousness. Then be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness, an offering and a burnt offering; then they will offer bullocks on your altar.

Canon, Tone 2, Canto 1:
Irmos: Come people, let us sing a song to Christ God, who parted the sea, and who instructed the people, even having brought them out of the work of Egypt, as if glorified.

The bread of the belly of the eternal be to me Thy Holy Body, merciful Lord, and Honest Blood, and the ailment of manifold healing.

Defiled by the deeds of the unplaced, the accursed one, I am not worthy of Your Most Pure Body and Divine Blood, Christ, communion, which you vouchsafe me.
Holy Mother of God, save us.
Good earth, blessed God's bride, vegetative class unharmed and saving the world, grant me this food to be saved.

Canto 3

Irmos: Having established me on the rock of faith, you have expanded my mouth against my enemies. Rejoice, for my spirit, always sing: there is nothing holy, like our God, and there is nothing more righteous than You, Lord.
Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb.
Give me tears, O Christ, drops, the filth of my purifying heart: as if cleansed by a good conscience, I come by faith and fear, Master, to partake of Your Divine Gifts.
Cast me not away from Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.
For the remission of my transgressions, Thy Most Pure Body, and the Divine Blood, the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, and eternal life, Lover of mankind, and alienation of passions and sorrows.
Holy Mother of God, save us.
Animal Bread The Most Holy Meal, above mercy for the sake of the one who descended, and give the world a new belly to the one who gives, and now vouchsafe me the unworthy, with fear to taste this, and I live to be.

Canto 4

Irmos: You came from the Virgin, not an intercessor, not an Angel, but Himself, Lord, incarnate, and saving all of me man. Thus I call to Thee: glory to Thy power, Lord.
Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb.
Thou hast desired, for the sake of incarnation, O Many-Merciful One, slain to be like a sheep, a sin for the sake of men: the same I pray to Thee, and cleanse my sins.
Cast me not away from Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.
Heal the wounds of my soul, Lord, and sanctify everything: and vouchsafe, Master, that I may partake of Thy mystical Divine Supper, accursed one.
Holy Mother of God, save us.
Have mercy on me who is from Thy womb, O Lady, and keep me undefiled, Thy servant and immaculate, as if I were to receive smart beads, I will be sanctified.

Canto 5

Irmos: Giver of Light and Creator of the ages, Lord, guide us in the light of Your commandments; unless we know no other god to you.
Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb.
As thou hast prophesied, O Christ, let it be done unto thy wicked servant, and abide in me, as thou hast promised: behold thy body is divine, and I drink thy blood.
Cast me not away from Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.
Word of God and God, let the coal of Your Body be to me darkened into enlightenment, and the cleansing of my defiled soul, Your Blood.
Holy Mother of God, save us.
Mary, Mother of God, fragrance of an honest village, make me a chosen vessel with your prayers, as if I would partake of Your Son of consecration.

Canto 6

Irmos: Lying in the sinful abyss, I call upon the abyss that is not traced by Your mercy: from aphids, O God, raise me up.
Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb.
Sanctify my mind, soul and heart, O Savior, and my body, and vouchsafe, O Master, without condemnation, to proceed to the terrible Mysteries.
Cast me not away from Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.
So that he would be removed from the passions, and Your grace would have an application, the stomach would be affirmed, the communion of the Saints, Christ, Your Mysteries.
Holy Mother of God, save us.
God, God, Holy Word, sanctify all of me, now coming to Your Divine Mysteries, Your Holy Mother with prayers.
Kontakion, voice 2:
Bread, Christ, do not despise me, Thy Body, and now Thy Divine Blood, the most pure, Master, and Thy terrible Mysteries partake of the accursed, may it not be me in judgment, may it be us in the life eternal and immortal.

Canto 7

Irmos: The wise children did not serve the golden body, and they themselves went into the flames, and cursed their gods, crying out in the flames, and I irrigate the Angel: your prayer has already been heard.
Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb.
The source of the good, communion, Christ, of Your now immortal Sacraments, may there be light, and a belly, and passionlessness, and for the advancement and increase of the virtue of the Divine intercession, only Blessed, as if I glorify Thee.
Cast me not away from Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.
Let me get rid of passions, and enemies, and need, and all sorrow, with trembling and love with reverence, Lover of mankind, now approach Your immortal and Divine Mysteries, and vouchsafe You to sing: blessed be Thou, Lord, God of our fathers.
Holy Mother of God, save us.
Savior of Christ, who gave birth to more than the mind, God-grace, I pray to Thee now, Thy servant, Pure unclean: whoever wants me now to proceed to the most pure Mysteries, cleanse everything from the filth of the flesh and spirit.

Canto 8

Irmos: In the fiery furnace to the youth of the Jews who descended, and the flame in the dew of God, sing the deeds of the Lord, and exalt forever.
Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb.
Heavenly, and terrible, and Thy saints, Christ, now the Mysteries, and Thy Divine and Last Supper of a companion to be and me desperate, God, my Savior.
Cast me not away from Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.
Benevolence has come running under Yours, Blessed, with fear I call Thee: abide in me, Savior, and I, as you said, in You; Behold, daring to Thy mercy, I pit Thy Body, and I drink Thy Blood.
Holy Trinity, our God, glory to Thee.
I tremble, accepting the fire, lest I be scorched like wax and like grass; ole terrible mystery! ole goodness of God! What kind of Divine Body and Blood do I partake of, and I am created imperishable?

Canto 9

Irmos: The Son, God and Lord, the Parent is without beginning, having incarnated from the Virgin, appearing to us, darkened to enlighten, gather squandered: we magnify the all-singing Mother of God.
Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb.
Christ is, taste and see: the Lord for us, for us of old, brought to Himself alone, as an offering to His Father, He is forever slain, sanctifying those who partake.
Cast me not away from Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.
May I be sanctified with soul and body, Master, may I be enlightened, may I be saved, may I be Your house a communion of the sacred Mysteries, having You living in yourself with the Father and the Spirit, the Benefactor of Many Mercy.
Give me the joy of Your salvation, and confirm me with the Sovereign Spirit.
Like fire, let it be mine, and like light, Your Body and Blood, my Savior, most honorable, scorching the sinful substance, burning the passions of thorns, and enlightening me all, bow down to Your Divinity.
Holy Mother of God, save us.
God became incarnate from Your pure blood; the same, every generation sings to Thee, the Mistress, but the intelligent multitudes glorify, as if by Thee they have seen the Ruler of all, who has been realized by mankind.

Worth eating...
Trisagion. Holy Trinity...
Our Father...

Troparion of the day or holiday. If it's a week, the Sunday troparion is in tone. If not, real troparia, tone 6:
Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us; bewildering any answer, this prayer, as the Lord, we bring sins: have mercy on us.
Glory: Lord, have mercy on us, we put our trust in Thee; do not be angry with us, remember our iniquities below, but look now as if you are merciful, and deliver us from our enemies. Thou art our God, and we are Thy people, all works by Thy hand, and we call on Thy name.
And now: Open the doors of Mercy to us, blessed Mother of God, hoping in Thee, let us not perish, but let us be delivered from troubles by Thee: Thou art the salvation of the Christian race.
Lord, have mercy (40 times and bows as much as you like).

And the verses:
Although eat, man, the Body of the Lord,
Approach with fear, but do not sing: there is fire.
Drinking the Divine Blood for fellowship,
First, reconcile thee to those who grieve.
The same daring, mysterious brashno yazhd.
Before the sacrament of the terrible sacrifice,
Life-Giving Body Lord,
Sim pray in an image with trembling:

Prayer 1, Basil the Great:
Master Lord Jesus Christ, our God, the Source of life and immortality, of all creatures, visible and invisible to the Creator, of the beginningless Father co-eternal with the Son and co-originating, for the sake of goodness in the last days, clothed in the flesh, and crucified, and buried for us, ungrateful and evil-minded, and Yours Renewing our nature corrupted by sin with blood, Himself, the Immortal King, accept my sinful repentance, and incline Your ear to me, and hear my words. I have sinned, O Lord, I have sinned against heaven and before You, and I am not worthy to look at the height of Your glory: I have angered Your goodness, transgressing Your commandments, and not listening to Your commands. But You, Lord, who are not malice, long-suffering and many-merciful, did not betray me to perish with my iniquities, expecting my conversion in every possible way. You said, O Lover of mankind, your prophet: as if by desire I do not want the death of a sinner, but I will turn and live to be him. Do not wish, O Lord, to destroy Your hand in creation; below, you favor the destruction of mankind, but you wish to be saved by everyone, and come to the understanding of truth. The same and az, if I am unworthy of heaven and earth, and sowing temporary life, obeying sin all to myself, and enslaving with sweetness, and desecrating Your image; but having been Your creation and creation, I do not despair of my salvation, accursed, daring to Your immeasurable goodness, I come. Accept me, O Lord of mankind, like a harlot, like a thief, like a publican and like a prodigal, and take my heavy burden of sins, take the sin of the world, and heal human infirmities, call and give rest to those who are laboring and burdened to You, who did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. And cleanse me from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, and teach me to perfect the sanctity in Your fear: as if by the pure knowledge of my conscience, I receive a part of Your holy things, I am united to Your holy Body and Blood, and I have You living and abiding in me, with the Father, and your Holy Spirit. Yes, Lord Jesus Christ, my God, and let the communion of Your most pure and life-giving Mysteries not be in court, let me be weak in soul and body, from which I am unworthy to partake, but give me, even to my final breath, uncondemnedly perceive part of Thy holy things, in the Holy Spirit communion, in the guidance of the eternal belly, and in a favorable answer to Thy terrible judgement: as if with all Thy chosen ones, I will be a sharer of Thy incorruptible blessings, even if You have prepared for those who love Thee, Lord, in them Thou hast been glorified in eyelids. Amen.

Prayer 2, St. John Chrysostom:
Lord, my God, we know that I am worthy, I am satisfied below, but under the roof of the temple of my soul, I’m all empty and eaten, and don’t have a place in me worthy to bow my head: but for the sake of us from the height you humbled yourself, humble yourself and now my humility; and as if you took it in the den and in the manger of the wordless near, take it and in the manger of my wordless soul, and enter into my defiled body. And as if you did not deign to enter, and candles from sinners in the house of Simon the leper, so deign to enter into the house of my humble soul, lepers and sinners; and as if you did not reject a harlot and a sinner like me, who came and touched You, have mercy on me, a sinner, who comes and touches You; and as if you did not disdain her filthy lips and unclean ones that kiss Thee, below my filthy lips and unclean ones, below my vile and unclean lips, and my filthy and uncleanest tongue. But may the coal of Your most holy Body, and Your precious Blood, be mine, for the sanctification and enlightenment and health of my humble soul and body, for the relief of the burden of many of my sins, for observance from every devilish action, for the repulsion and prohibition of my evil and crafty custom, into the mortification of passions, into the provision of Thy commandments, into the application of Thy Divine grace, and appropriation of Thy Kingdom. Not as if I despise I come to You, Christ God, but as if daring for Your inexpressible goodness, and may I not move away from Your fellowship, I will be hunted by the mental wolf. The same I pray to You: as the only Holy One, Lord, sanctify my soul and body, mind and heart, wombs and wombs, and renew all of me, and root Your fear in my hands, and create Your sanctification inseparably from me; and be my helper and intercessor, nourishing my belly in the world, vouchsafe to me and at your right hand to stand with your saints, prayers and supplications to your Most Pure Mother, your immaterial servants and pure powers, and all the saints who have pleased you from time immemorial. Amen.

The only pure and incorruptible Lord, for the inexpressible mercy of philanthropy, our all perceptible mixture, from pure and virgin blood more than nature, who gave birth to Thee, the Divine Spirit by the invasion, and the good pleasure of the Father, the eternal, Christ Jesus, the wisdom of God, and peace, and strength; By your perception, life-giving and saving suffering perceived, cross, nail, spear, death, kill my soulful bodily passions. By your burial of the hellish captivating kingdom, bury my good thoughts with crafty advice, and deceive the evil spirits. By your three-day and life-giving resurrection of the fallen forefather, raise up me who crawled with sin, offering me images of repentance. By your glorious ascension, deifying the perception of the flesh, and by this right hand of the Father with the graying of mail, make me worthy of receiving the right part of those saved by the communion of your saints Mysteries. With the descending of the Comforter of Your Spirit, the sacred vessels are honest, Your disciples have made, friend, and show me That coming. Although you should come again to judge with the universal truth, deign to make me meet Thee in the clouds, the Judge and Creator of mine, with all Thy saints: yes, I will endlessly glorify and sing of Thee, with Thy Father without beginning, and Thy Most Holy and Good and Life-giving Spirit, now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 4, St. John of Damascus:
Master Lord Jesus Christ, our God, only having the power of a person to forgive sins, as good and loving of mankind, despise my whole knowledge and not knowledge of sin, and make me unjudgmentally partake of the Divine, and the most glorious, and the purest, and life-giving Your Mysteries, not in heaviness, neither into torment, nor into the application of sins, but into cleansing, and sanctification, and betrothal of the future Life and kingdom, into a wall and help, and into the objection of the opposition, into the destruction of many of my sins. You are the God of mercy, and generosity, and humanity, and we send glory to You, with the Father, and the Holy Spirit, now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 5, Saint Basil the Great:
Wem, Lord, as I unworthily partake of Your most pure Body and Your precious Blood, and I am guilty, and I judge myself and drink, not judging the Body and Blood of You, Christ and my God, but for Your bounty, daring, I come to You who recks: the eater of My flesh and drink my blood, abides in me, and I in him. Have mercy then, O Lord, and do not rebuke me a sinner, but deal with me according to Thy mercy; and may this holy one be with me for healing, and purification, and enlightenment, and preservation, and salvation, and for the sanctification of soul and body; to drive away every dream, and crafty deed, and the action of the devil, mentally acting in my hands, in boldness and love, even to You; in the correction of life and affirmation, in the return of virtue and perfection; in fulfillment of the commandments, in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, in the guidance of the eternal belly, in response, favorable at Your terrible judgment: not into judgment or condemnation.

Prayer 6, St. Simeon the New Theologian:
From bad lips, from a vile heart, from an unclean tongue, from the soul defiled, accept prayer, my Christ, and do not despise my words, below images, below unstudy. Give me boldness to speak, even if I want, my Christ, moreover, teach me what it is fitting for me to do and speak. I have sinned more than a harlot, even if I have taken away where you live, having bought the world, come boldly to anoint Your feet, my God, Lord and my Christ. As if he didn’t reject what came from the heart, disdain me below, Word: Give me your nose, and hold and kiss, and tearful streams, like a precious world, this boldly anoint. Wash me with my tears, cleanse me with them, O Word. Forgive my transgressions, and grant me forgiveness. Weigh a multitude of evils, weigh and my scabs, and see my ulcers, but weigh faith, and see volition, and hear sighing. You are not hidden, my God, my Creator, my Redeemer, below a drop of tears, below a drop of a certain part. What I have not done is seen by Your eyes, but in Your book, and still not done, the essence is written to You. See my humility, see my work as a tree, and leave all sins, God of all: yes, with a pure heart, a trembling thought, and a contrite soul, I will partake of Your undefiled and most holy Mysteries, everyone who eats and drinks with a pure heart is enlivened and adored; Thou hast said, my Lord: everyone who eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood, this one abides in Me, and Az is seven in him. The word of every Master and my God is true: partake of divine and idolizing graces; Yes, because I will not be alone except for You, the Giver of Life, my breath, my stomach, my joy, the salvation of the world. For this sake, I come to You, as if you are seeing, with tears, and with a contrite soul, I ask you to accept the deliverance of my sins, and to partake of Your life-giving and immaculate Sacraments without condemnation, but stay, as if you said, with me trekennym: yes, not only find me Your grace, the deceiver will delight me with flattering, and the deceitful one will lead away those who worship Thy words. For this sake, I fall down to You, and I cry warmly to Ty: as if you accepted the prodigal, and the harlot who came, so accept me, prodigal and filthy, Generous. With a contrite soul, now coming to You, we, Savior, like another, like I, do not sin against You, below the deed of the deed, even as the deeds. But we pack this, as it is not the majesty of sins, nor the multitude of sins that surpasses my God, much long-suffering, and extreme philanthropy; but by the grace of compassion warmly repentant, and clean, and brighten, and create light, partakers, fellows of Your Divinity, making it unenviously, and strange both with an angel and with human thought, talk to them many times, as if your true friend. This audacity they do me, this one they hold me up, my Christ. And daring with Your rich beneficence to us, rejoicing together and trembling, fire and partake of this grass, and a strange miracle, we irrigate it without disgrace, as if the bush were burning in ancient times. Now, with a grateful thought, with a grateful heart, with grateful hands of mine, of my soul and body, I bow and magnify, and glorify Thee, my God, as a blessed being, now and forever.

Prayer 7, St. John Chrysostom:
God, weaken, forgive, forgive me my sins, O Elika, I have sinned, if in word, if in deed, if in thought, willingly or not, mind or foolishness, forgive all of us as good and humane, and with the prayers of Your Most Pure Mother, Your smart servants and the holy forces, and all the saints who have pleased you from time immemorial, uncondemnedly be pleased to accept your holy and most pure Body and honest Blood, for the healing of the soul and body, and for the purification of my evil thoughts. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen.
His own, 8th:
Be satisfied, O Master Lord, that you may enter under the shelter of my soul; but if you wish, you, like a Lover of mankind, live in me, daringly I approach; command me to open the door, even though you alone created you, and enter with philanthropy, as if you were, enter and enlighten my darkened thought. I believe that you did this: you did not drive away the harlot who came to you with tears; below the publican rejected thou who repented; lower than the thief, knowing thy kingdom, thou hast driven away; below the persecutor, repenting, you left, hedgehog: but from repentance to you, who came all, in the person of your friends, you made you, the only blessed one always, now and forever and ever. Amen.
His own, 9th:
Lord Jesus Christ my God, weaken, leave, cleanse and forgive the sinful, and indecent, and unworthy Thy servant, transgressions, and sins, and my fall, Thy tree from my youth, even to this day and hour I have sinned: if in the mind and in foolishness, even in words or deeds, or thoughts and thoughts, and undertakings, and all my feelings. And by the prayers of the seedlessly giving birth to Thee, Most Pure and Ever-Virgin Mary, Thy Mother, the only shameless hope and intercession and my salvation, grant me unjudgment to partake of Your most pure, immortal, life-giving and terrible Sacraments, for the remission of sins and for eternal life: for sanctification and enlightenment , strength, healing, and the health of the soul and body, and in the consumption and all-perfect destruction of my crafty thoughts, and thoughts, and enterprises, and nightly dreams, dark and crafty spirits; for Yours is the kingdom, and power, and glory, and honor, and worship, with the Father and Your Holy Spirit, now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 10, St. John of Damascus:
I stand before the doors of Your temple, and I do not retreat from fierce thoughts; but You, Christ God, who justified the publican, and had mercy on Canaanite, and opened the door to the thief of paradise, open the wombs of Your love for mankind and receive me coming and touching You, like a harlot, and bleeding: Ova, having touched the edge of Your robe, make healing pleasant, Ova but keep your feet clean, bear the resolution of sins. But, accursed one, daring to perceive all Your Body, but I will not be scorched; but accept me, like one, and enlighten my spiritual feelings, burning my sinful guilt, with the prayers of the seedless Birth of Thee, and the powers of Heaven; so blessed are you forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer of Saint John Chrysostom:
I believe, Lord, and I confess that You are truly the Christ, the Son of the living God, who came into the world to save sinners, from whom I am the first. I also believe that this is Your most pure Body, and this is Your precious Blood. I pray to Thee: have mercy on me, and forgive my transgressions, free and involuntary, even in word, even in deed, even in knowledge and ignorance, and make me worthy to partake without condemnation of Your most pure Mysteries, for the remission of sins, and for eternal life. Amen.

When you come to take communion, say mentally these verses of Metaphrastus:
I now proceed to Divine Communion.
Co-worker, do not singe me with communion:
Thou art fire, unworthy fire.
But cleanse me from all filthiness.

Then:
Thy secret supper this day, Son of God, take part in me; we will not tell the secret to your enemy, nor kiss thee, like Judas, but like a thief I will confess you: remember me, Lord, in your kingdom.

And the verses:
Horror of the deifying Blood, man, in vain:
There is fire, unworthy fire.
Divine Body and adores and nourishes me:
He loves the spirit, but the mind nourishes strangely.

Then troparia:
Thou hast delighted me with love, O Christ, and Thou hast changed me with Thy divine zeal; but my sins fell into an immaterial fire, and to be satisfied with the hedgehog in Thee of pleasure: Yes, rejoicing, I magnify, Blessed, Thy two comings.
In the light of Thy Saints, how can I enter unworthy? If I dare to go to the chamber, the clothes convict me, as if I were not married, and I will be cast out from the Angels. Cleanse, O Lord, the defilement of my soul, and save me, like a Lover of mankind.

Also a prayer:
O Lord, Lover of mankind, Lord Jesus Christ my God, may this Holy One not be in my judgment, for the hedgehog unworthy of being: but for the purification and sanctification of the soul and body, and for the betrothal of the future life and kingdom. But it is good for me to cling to God, to place in the Lord the hope of my salvation.

And further:
Your Secret Supper... (See above)

Those who wish to receive communion must adequately prepare for this holy sacrament. This preparation (in church practice it is called fasting) lasts several days and concerns both the bodily and spiritual life of a person. The body is prescribed abstinence, i.e. bodily purity (abstinence from marital relations) and restriction in food (fasting). On the days of fasting, food of animal origin is excluded - meat, milk, eggs and, about strict fasting, fish. Bread, vegetables, fruits are consumed in moderation. The mind should not be scattered over the little things of life and have fun.
On the days of fasting, one should attend divine services in the temple, if circumstances permit, and more diligently follow the home prayer rule: who usually reads not all morning and evening prayers, let him read everything in full, whoever does not read the canons, let him read at least one canon these days. On the eve of communion, one must be at the evening service and read at home, in addition to the usual prayers for the future, the canon of repentance, the canon of the Mother of God and the guardian angel. The canons are read either one after the other in full, or connecting in this way: the irmos of the first song of the penitential canon is read (“Like Israel having traveled on dry land, in the footsteps of the abyss, seeing the persecutor of the pharaoh being drowned, we sing a victory song to God, crying out”) and troparia, then steaming the first songs of the canon to the Theotokos ("Contain many misfortunes, I resort to you, seeking salvation: oh, Mother of the Word and Virgo, save me from the heavy and fierce"), lowering the irmos "Water passed ...", and steaming the canon to the Guardian Angel, also without irmosa (“Let us sing to the Lord, who led His people through the Red Sea, as if he alone was gloriously glorified”). The following songs are read in the same way. The troparia before the canon to the Theotokos and the Guardian Angel, as well as the stichera after the canon to the Theotokos, are omitted in this case.
The canon for communion is also read and, whoever wishes, an akathist to Jesus the Sweetest. After midnight, they no longer eat or drink, for it is customary to start the Sacrament of Communion on an empty stomach. In the morning, morning prayers are read and all the following to Holy Communion, except for the canon read the day before.
Before communion, confession is necessary - whether in the evening, or in the morning, before the liturgy.

Thanksgiving prayers for Holy Communion.

Glory to Thee, God. Glory to Thee, God. Glory to Thee, God.

Thanksgiving prayer, 1st:

Troparion of St. John Chrysostom, tone 8:
Your lips, like the lordship of fire, having shone grace, enlighten the universe: not the love of money of the world, the treasures of the world, the height of our humility of wisdom, but punishing us with your words, Father John Chrysostom, pray for the Word of Christ God to be saved to our souls.

Prayer of the illiterate after communion of the Holy Mysteries.

(Arch. I. Evropeytseva)

Lord Jesus Christ, my Sweet Redeemer, I feel that I am not worthy of Your most holy Body and Blood, but by Your goodness I accepted Your Chalice, like my brothers: I thank You from the bottom of my heart for Your Heavenly Mercy and grace to me. I pray to You, Lord, that this communion be for me in the cleansing of sins and the health of the body, in the correction of life and future eternal bliss.

One should prepare for the Sacrament of the Eucharist both by repentance and by prayers for communion. The preparation must be not only the fulfillment of prescribed prescriptions, but also a change in the whole life, which includes following the gospel principles. It is required to observe inner discipline, which will help the believer to desire fellowship with Christ.

Prayer for communion and confession can be home and church. Aspiring to partake of the Holy Mysteries of Christ, it is necessary to prayerfully prepare for this significant event: more often and more diligently offer up prayer to God at home, go to divine services.

On the eve of the sacrament, it is necessary to attend the evening church service. For spiritual preparation in the evening at the service, you need to read Orthodox prayers before communion and confession. The following to the sacrament can be found in every Orthodox prayer book.

There is a pious custom of reading 3 canons and an akathist. Canons are small prayers of a pleading nature, which contain the rationale for requests and the petitions themselves. Akathist to Communion is a laudatory, hymnographic and spiritual work. Both canons and akathists were composed by saints or pious people. To the canons before The Sacrament of Communion includes the following texts:

  • repentant to the Lord Jesus;
  • prayer service to the Most Holy Mother of God;
  • to the Guardian Angel.

On the first week after Easter (it is also called Bright Week), instead of prayers for confession and communion, Orthodox Christians traditionally read the canon of Easter.

Features of abstinence

Reading prayers before confession and communion is not the only condition for preparing for the Sacrament of the Eucharist: on the eve it is necessary to make a liturgical fast. For neophytes (beginners), as well as those who did not observe the fasting abstinences established by the Church, the clergyman can determine an additional abstinence time for 3-7 days - before accepting the holy Mysteries of Christ.

Fasting, in addition to restrictions on certain foods, consists in eating and drinking less liquids than usual, as well as refusing to attend entertainment events, watching entertaining films and television shows. It is necessary to observe physical and spiritual purity. Married people should abstain from intimate contact the day before and after communion.

Before the adoption of the Mysteries of Christ, a strict fast begins from midnight - absolute abstinence from drinking and eating. Those who are addicted to smoking should stop smoking cigarettes. The same applies to alcohol addicts and drug users.

Communion must be blessed by a priest. Life-saving medicines are not food, they can be taken after midnight.

Preparing for Confession and Communion

He who is preparing for the Sacrament of the Eucharist must make peace with everyone and protect his soul from malice and irritability. It is important to restrain yourself from condemnation and any bad thoughts, being, as far as possible, alone, in reading the Gospel, the works of the holy fathers and other spiritual books. Before accepting the Holy Mysteries, you need to properly set yourself up in order to purify your spirit in the Sacrament of Confession:

Babies and the sick are confessed in some churches before receiving the Holy Mysteries. Going to confession when the morning service is already underway is extreme negligence and neglect of the Sacrament.

Children under the age of 7 receive communion without confession (in the future, they will have the opportunity to attend confession not before every Eucharist, but having received the blessing of the priest for this).

Proper Communion

The Holy Gifts are taken out of the altar, proclaiming that it is necessary to approach communion with fear and faith. It is supposed to receive the Sacrament after the monks, children, elderly and sick parishioners. Approaching the Holy Chalice, you must fold your hands on your chest in a special way.(right top, left bottom).

In front of the Chalice itself, you should not make the sign of the cross: otherwise, you can unwittingly hook it and push it. Approaching the priest, you need to clearly name the name that was given on the day of Baptism - in full, without abbreviating. Then open your mouth wide and reverently, take the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ and immediately swallow it.

After that, without making the sign of the cross, you should kiss the edge of the Chalice and go to a special table to taste the liturgical bread and drink it down. warm water. The last steps are needed in order for the Communion to pass inside in the best way.

What to do after the Eucharist

At the end of the service, the priest invites the parishioners to kiss the Holy Cross. Before this reverent action, which is called "release", it is not appropriate to leave the temple. If it is customary in the parish to read thanksgiving prayers after the Eucharist, it is necessary after the dismissal to stand closer to the reader and listen to them to the end. If prayers are not read, you need to read them at home on your own.

On this day, it is necessary to reverently keep the "accepted Christ" in oneself and behave decently in order to heal one's soul and body.

How often should you take communion

Ancient Christians partake of the Sacraments every Day of Christ (i.e., every Sunday), and in the 4th century St. Basil the Great wrote: “We (that is, he and his monastic community) commune 4 times in 7 days.”

All the holy fathers of the Church speak of the frequent acceptance of Christ. The Sacrament itself contains the words recorded in the Gospel: “When they were eating food, Jesus took bread and, having blessed, broke it and, dividing it among the disciples, said: take, eat: this is My Body. After that, taking the cup, he thanked the Heavenly Father and said to them: drink from it all, for it is My Blood, of the New Testament, shed for many, for the sake of the remission of sins” (Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 26). Evangelist Luke adds: "Do this in remembrance of Me" (chapter 22).

This call of the Savior to the communion of the Holy Mysteries lives in the heart of every Christian and calls him to the main priesthood in the life of a believer. Maximus the Confessor, saint and priest, testifies that no sacrament of the Church can be completed without the Eucharist. Therefore, Communion is called the "sacrament of sacraments", believing that it is in it that the grace-filled life consists.

It is the Eucharist that makes the Church a real community, united by the Holy Spirit of God. Those historical events in which the Eucharistic life in the Christian circle begins to weaken illustrate that this fatally affects people, and those years become very difficult for the fate of believers.

Of course, in the history of the existence of the Church there were times when it was very rare to partake of the Holy Mysteries. For example, the monks of the first times of Christianity, who hermits in the Egyptian desert, often did not have the opportunity to receive communion. This was partly due to the fact that there was nowhere to serve the Liturgy in the desert. In addition, in those days priestly and monastic service were rarely combined, so the monks could not perform the Liturgy themselves.

In the future, monasteries began to grow, large monasteries arose. They began to ordain monks in them - for worship and the celebration of the Eucharist. So there were monks-priests - hieromonks.

In modern monastic rules there is a note: a monk who does not receive communion for 2 weeks is not a monk.

Canonical Precepts

From the point of view of the canons, which were established on the recommendations and records of the saints and teachers of the Church, the practice of preparing for the reception of the Savior is established by the following prescriptions:

According to the regulations Ecumenical Councils that took place in Carthage and Trulla, communion with the Body and Blood of the Savior is allowed only on an empty stomach. Saint Nicephorus teaches that a priest can give communion to a Christian lying on his deathbed, even if he has eaten food or taken medicine. Saint Timothy of Alexandria establishes the need for spouses to abstain from intimate contact on the night before participating in the Eucharist.

Confession and Communion are the most important Sacraments in the life of an Orthodox Christian. But not every parishioner knows how to properly prepare for them. Prayers before confession and communion are an important stage in the thorough preparation for the purification of the soul and the acceptance of the Holy Mysteries of Christ.

How to Prepare for the Sacraments

This is the cleansing of the human soul from its sinful state and preparation for the Sacrament of Communion, in which the Christian is reunited with Christ, he tastes Divine grace, strength of spirit and strength of faith.

sacrament of confession

Before communion, it is necessary to fast for 3-4 days: refuse to eat food of animal origin, entertainment, watching TV programs. During the preparation period, one should read the Bible, attend divine services, pray fervently in the temple and at home.

Preparing for Communion requires mandatory reading:

  • prayer canon to the Most Holy Theotokos;
  • canon to the guardian angel;

The canons can be read on any day, and the following in the morning of the day when the Sacrament will be performed. In most churches, it is customary to make confession during the evening service, but in some parishes it is held in the morning on the eve of the Liturgy.

Important! Babies up to 7 years of age can receive communion without confession, and they are not even forbidden to have a light breakfast. It is forbidden for ladies to receive communion during critical days. Young mothers can receive communion only after 40 days after giving birth, and the cleric must read a special prayer over them.

Sung in every sorrow of the soul and circumstances.

Creation of the monk Theostirikt.

Troparion to the Theotokos, tone 4

Now diligently to the Theotokos, sinners and humility, and we fall down, in repentance calling from the depths of our souls: Lady, help us, having mercy on us, sweating, we perish from many sins, do not turn away Your servants of vanity, You and the only hope of the imam. (Twice )

We will never be silent, O Theotokos, to speak unworthy of Your strength: otherwise You would not be praying, who would save us from so many troubles, who would keep us free until now? We will not retreat, O Lady, from Thee: for Thy servants save forever from all kinds of fierce ones.

Psalm 50

Then be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness, an offering and a burnt offering; then they will lay calves on your altar.

Amen.

To whom shall I cry, Lady? To whom shall I resort in my sorrow, if not to Thee, Queen of Heaven? Who will receive my weeping and my sighing, if not You, Immaculate One, the hope of Christians and the refuge of us sinners? Who will protect you more in adversity? Hear my groaning, and incline Your ear to me, the Lady of the Mother of my God, and do not despise me, who requires Your help, and do not reject me, a sinner. Reason and teach me, Queen of Heaven; do not depart from me, Thy servant, Lady, for my murmuring, but wake me Mother and intercessor. I entrust myself to Your merciful protection: bring me, a sinner, to a quiet and serene life, let me cry over my sins. To whom shall I resort guilty, if not to Thee, the hope and refuge of sinners, with the hope of Thy unspeakable mercy and Thy bounty we enshrine? Oh, Lady Queen of Heaven! You are my hope and refuge, protection and intercession and help. My favored queen and ambulance intercessor! Cover my sins with Your intercession, protect me from enemies visible and invisible; soften the hearts of evil people who rise up against me. Oh, Mother of the Lord my Creator! You are the root of virginity and the unfading color of purity. Oh Mother of God! You give me help to those who are weak with carnal passions and who are sick of the heart, for Yours alone and with You Your Son and our God imam intercession; and by Your miraculous intercession, may I be delivered from all misfortune and misfortune, O immaculate and glorious Mother Mary of God. Prayer to the Guardian Angel

Holy Angel of God, my guardian, pray to God for me.

Holy Angel of Christ, I pray to you, my holy guardian, given to me to keep my sinful soul and body from holy baptism, but with my laziness and my evil habit, I angered your most pure lordship and drove you away from me with all studish deeds: lies, slander , envy, condemnation, contempt, disobedience, fraternal hatred, and malice, love of money, adultery, rage, stinginess, gluttony without satiety and drunkenness, verbosity, evil thoughts and crafty, proud custom and prodigal rage, having self-desire for all carnal lust. Oh, my evil will, even the beasts of speechlessness do not create it! But how can you look at me, or come to me, like a stinking dog? Whose eyes, angel of Christ, look at me, entwined with evil in vile deeds? Yes, how can I ask forgiveness for my bitter and evil and crafty deed, I fall into it all day and night and at every hour? But I pray, falling down, my holy guardian, have mercy on me, your sinful and unworthy servant (name), be my helper and intercessor for the evil of my opponent, with your holy prayers, and make the Kingdom of God a partaker of me with all the saints, always, and now and forever and ever. Amen.

Follow-up to Holy Communion

Heavenly King, Comforter, Soul of Truth, Who is everywhere and fills everything, Treasury of the good and Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save, O Blessed, our souls.

Lord have mercy. (12 times)

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Come, let us worship our King God. (Bow)

Come, let us bow down and bow down to Christ, our King God. (Bow)

Come, let us bow and fall down to Christ Himself, the Tsar and our God. (Bow)

Psalm 22

The Lord shepherds me, and will deprive me of nothing. In the place of zlachne, there they instilled me, on the water calmly raised me. Turn my soul, guide me on the paths of truth, for Your name's sake. If I go in the midst of the canopy of death, I will not fear evil, for Thou art with me, Thy rod and Thy club, that consoles me. Thou hast prepared a meal before me against those who are afflicted with me, thou hast anointed my head with oil, and Thy cup makes me drink, as if it were sovereign. And Thy mercy will marry me all the days of my life, and even settle me in the house of the Lord, in the longitude of days.

Psalm 23

Psalm 115

Verovah, the same exclaimed, but I humbled myself very much. But I rech in my rage: every man is a lie. What will I repay the Lord for all that I repay? I will take the cup of salvation, and I will call on the name of the Lord, I will give my prayers to the Lord before all His people. Honorable before the Lord is the death of His saints. O Lord, I am Your servant, I am Your servant and the son of Your handmaid; thou hast torn my bonds. I will devour thee a sacrifice of praise, and in the name of the Lord I will call. I will give my prayers to the Lord before all His people, in the courts of the house of the Lord, in your midst, Jerusalem.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Alleluia. (Three times with three bows)

Troparion, tone 8

Despise my iniquities, Lord, be born of the Virgin, and cleanse my heart, creating a temple to Your most pure Body and Blood, lower me from Your face, having great mercy without number.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

In the communion of Your holy things, how dare I [enter], unworthy? Asha, I dare to approach You with the worthy, the tunic convicts me, as if there is an evening one, and I intercede for condemnation of my many-sinful soul. Cleanse, O Lord, the defilement of my soul, and save me, like a Lover of mankind.

And now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Many of my many, Mother of God, sins, I ran to You, Pure, demanding salvation: visit my feeble soul, and pray to Your Son and our God, give me remission, even the fiercest deeds, Blessed One.

[On Holy Forty Day:

When the glorious disciple at the ablution of the supper is enlightened, then Judas, the wicked with the love of money, having become darkened, and betrays the righteous Judge to the lawless judges. See, the property of the zealot, who used the strangulation for this sake: run the unsatisfied soul, the Teacher is so daring. Who is the good Lord of all, glory to Thee.]

Psalm 50

Then be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness, an offering and a burnt offering; then they will offer bullocks on your altar.

Heavenly, and terrible, and Thy saints, Christ, now the Mysteries, and Thy Divine and Last Supper of a companion to be and me desperate, God, my Savior.

Chorus: Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

Benevolence has come running under Yours, Blessed, with fear I call Thee: abide in me, Savior, and I, as you said, in You; Behold, daring to Thy mercy, I pit Thy Body, and I drink Thy Blood.

Chorus: Holy Trinity, our God, glory to Thee.

Trinity: I tremble, accepting the fire, but I will not be scorched like wax and like grass; ole terrible mystery! ole mercy of God! What kind of Divine Body and Blood do I partake of, and I am created imperishable?

Canto 9

Irmos: The Son, God and Lord, the Parent is without beginning, having incarnated from the Virgin, appear to us, darkened to enlighten, gather dispersed: we magnify the all-singing Mother of God.

Chorus: Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb.

Christ is, taste and see: the Lord for us, for us of old, brought to Himself alone, as an offering to His Father, He is forever slain, sanctifying those who partake.

Chorus: Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

May I be sanctified with soul and body, Master, may I be enlightened, may I be saved, may I be Your house a communion of the sacred Mysteries, having You living in yourself with the Father and the Spirit, the Benefactor of Many Mercy.

Chorus: Reward me the joy of Your salvation and confirm me with the Sovereign Spirit.

Like fire, let it be mine, and like light, Your Body and Blood, my Savior, most honorable, scorching the sinful substance, burning the passions of thorns, and enlightening me all, bow down to Your Divinity.

Chorus: Holy Mother of God, save us.

Theotokion: God became incarnate from Thy pure blood; the same, every generation sings to Thee, the Mistress, but the intelligent multitudes glorify, as if by Thee they have seen the Ruler of all, who has been realized by mankind.

It is worthy to eat as if truly blessed Theotokos, Blessed and Immaculate and Mother of our God. The most honest Cherubim and the most glorious without comparison Seraphim, without the corruption of God the Word, who gave birth to the real Mother of God, we magnify Thee.

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (Thrice)

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord, cleanse our sins; Lord, forgive our iniquities; Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Your name's sake.

Lord have mercy. (Three times)

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Our Father, Who art in heaven! Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, as in heaven and on earth. Give us our daily bread today; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

If it's a week, the Sunday troparion is in tone. If not, real troparia, tone 6:

Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us; bewildering any answer, this prayer, as the Lord, we bring sins: have mercy on us.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Lord, have mercy on us, we put our trust in Thee; do not be angry with us, remember our iniquities below, but look now as if you are merciful, and deliver us from our enemies. Thou art our God, and we are Thy people, all works by Thy hand, and we call on Thy name.

And now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Open the doors of mercy to us, blessed Mother of God, who hope in Thee, let us not perish, but let us be delivered from troubles by Thee: Thou art the salvation of the Christian race.

Lord have mercy. (40 times) And bows as much as you want.

Although eat, man, the Body of the Lord,

Approach with fear, but do not sing: there is fire.

Drinking the Divine Blood for fellowship,

First, reconcile thee to those who grieve.

The same daring, mysterious brashno yazhd.

Prayer 1, Basil the Great

Amen.

Prayer 2, Saint John Chrysostom

Amen.

Prayer 3, Simeon Metaphrastus

Amen.

Prayer 4, his

As if on Your Terrible and impartial, stand the Judgment Seat, Christ God, and raise condemnation, and create a word about the evil I have done; now, before even the day of my condemnation comes, at your holy altar standing before you and before your terrible and holy angels, bowed from my conscience, I bring my evil and lawless deeds, reveal this and rebuke. See, O Lord, my humility, and forgive me all my sins; see, as if the hair of my head were multiplied more than my iniquity. What harm did not do evil? What sin have I not committed? What evil can I not imagine in my soul? Fornication, adultery, pride, arrogance, reproach, blasphemy, idle talk, incomparable laughter, drunkenness, guttural intoxication, gluttony, hatred, envy, love of money, covetousness, covetousness, self-love, love of glory, theft, unrighteousness, mischief, jealousy , slander, lawlessness; I created every feeling and every spirit of the defiled, corrupt, indecent, being the worker of the devil in every possible way. And we know, Lord, that my iniquities have surpassed my head; but there is an immeasurable multitude of Thy bounties, and the mercy is inexpressible Thy innocence of goodness, and there is no sin in conquering Thy philanthropy. The same, wonderful King, gentle Lord, surprise me, a sinner, with Your mercy, show Your goodness of strength and show the strength of Your compassionate mercy, and turning accept me a sinner. Accept me, as if you accepted a prodigal, a robber, a harlot. Receive me exceedingly, both in word and deed, and in placeless lust, and in wordless thought, having sinned against You. And as if at the eleventh hour you received those who came, who did nothing worthy, so accept me, a sinner: many have sinned and defiled, and saddened Your Holy Spirit, and grieved Your human-loving womb and deed, and word, and thought, in the night and in days, manifested and unmanifested, willingly and unwillingly. And we know, as if you imagine my sins before me, these are the ones that I have done, and have a word with me about their unforgiven sins. But Lord, Lord, let not Thy righteous judgment, rebuke me with Thy fury, punish me with Thy anger; have mercy on me, Lord, for I am not only weak, but I am also Your creation. You, O Lord, have established Your fear on me, but I have done evil before You. I have sinned against you alone, but I pray you, do not enter into judgment with your servant. If you see iniquity, Lord, Lord, who will stand? I am the abyss of sin, and I am not worthy, below I am pleased to look and see the heights of heaven, from the multitude of my sins, there are no number of them: every crime and deceit, and trickery of Satan, and corruption, malice, counseling to sin and other dark passions are not bored of me. Kiimi bo did not corrupt sins? Kiimi not kept evil? Every sin I have committed, every impurity I have put into my soul, is indecent to You, my God, and to man. Who will raise me up, into the evil and a fraction of the fallen sin? Lord my God, I put my trust in You; if there is hope for my salvation, if your love of mankind conquers the multitude of my iniquities, be my savior, and according to your mercies and your mercy, weaken, leave, forgive, all of us, sinful fir tree, as my soul is filled with many evils, and carry in me salvation of hope. Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy, and do not reward me according to my deeds, and do not judge me according to my deeds, but turn, intercede, deliver my soul from the evils and fierce perceptions that grow with it. Save me for the sake of Thy mercy, so that where sin increases, Thy grace abounds; and I will praise and glorify Thee always, all the days of my life. Thou art the God of the repentant and the Savior of the sinners; and we send glory to Thee with Thy Father without beginning, and the Most Holy and Good, and Thy Life-Giving Spirit, now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 5, Saint John of Damascus

Amen.

Prayer 6, Saint Basil the Great

Prayer 7, St. Simeon the New Theologian

See my humility, see my work as a tree, and leave all sins, God of all: yes, with a pure heart, a trembling thought, and a contrite soul, I will partake of Your undefiled and most holy Mysteries, everyone who eats and drinks with a pure heart is enlivened and adored; Thou hast said, my Lord: everyone who eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood, this one abides in Me, and I am in him.

Prayer 8, Saint John Chrysostom

Amen.

His same, 9th

Amen.

His same, 10th

Lord Jesus Christ my God, weaken, leave, cleanse and forgive the sinful, and indecent, and unworthy Thy servant, transgressions, and sins, and my fall, Thy tree from my youth, even to this day and hour I have sinned: if in the mind and in foolishness, even in words or deeds, or thoughts and thoughts, and undertakings, and all my feelings. And with the prayers of the seedless birth of Thee, the Most Pure and Ever-Virgin Mary, Thy Mother, the only shameless hope and intercession and my salvation, grant me the unjudgment to partake of Your most pure, immortal, life-giving and terrible Sacraments, for the remission of sins and for eternal life: for sanctification and enlightenment, strength, healing, and the health of the soul and body, and in the consumption and all-perfect destruction of my evil thoughts, and thoughts, and enterprises, and nightly dreams, dark and evil spirits; for Yours is the kingdom, and power, and glory, and honor, and worship, with the Father and Your Holy Spirit, now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 11, Saint John of Damascus

Amen.

Prayer of Saint John Chrysostom

I believe, Lord, and I confess that You are truly the Christ, the Son of the living God, who came into the world to save sinners, from whom I am the first. I also believe that this is Your most pure Body, and this is Your precious Blood. I pray to Thee: have mercy on me, and forgive my transgressions, free and involuntary, even in word, even in deed, even in knowledge and ignorance, and make me worthy to partake without condemnation of Your most pure Mysteries, for the remission of sins, and for eternal life. Amen.

When you come to take communion, mentally say this prayer:

O Lord, Lover of mankind, Lord Jesus Christ my God, may this Holy One not be in my judgment, for the hedgehog unworthy of being: but for the purification and sanctification of the soul and body, and for the betrothal of the future life and kingdom. But it is good for me to cling to God, to place in the Lord the hope of my salvation.

Thy secret supper this day, Son of God, take part in me; we will not tell the secret to your enemy, nor kiss thee, like Judas, but like a thief I will confess you: remember me, Lord, in your kingdom.

Preparation for Confession of Sins

During confession, a person is reconciled with Christ, he reveals his sins to Him in the presence of a cleric, who is a “mediator” between God and man. At the end of the confession, the cleric reads a permissive prayer over the confessor - he prays to God for the forgiveness of the sins of the penitent.

During confession, you only need to talk about your sins.

You should carefully prepare for confession, and for this you need to realize the sinfulness of your life and understand that there is sin - any action or thought that contradicts the Commandments.

  • Disbelief in God, creating idols for oneself, worshiping idols, communicating with magicians;
  • Neglect of people, condemnation of their shortcomings, fornication and depraved deeds;
  • Murder;
  • Abortion, which is equivalent to murder (except for termination of pregnancy for medical reasons);
  • Theft of another's property, lies and slander.

During the performance of the Sacrament, it is necessary to speak only about your sins, you do not need to downplay them or look for an excuse for them. You should not look for "church" words, you should describe your sins in ordinary language. You should not be embarrassed by a priest when describing his misdeeds: a cleric accepts a lot of confessions and has not been surprised at anything for a long time, and sins have not changed over the centuries, just each person describes them differently. A priest will never condemn a penitent, he can only give advice on how to act in a given situation, and he will definitely pray for every sinner.

There is no need to start confession with "light" sins: breaking the fast, not attending worship, wearing, for example, trousers (for women). God does not need to dig into the daily minutiae. He expects from every confessor renunciation of sin, love and full giving of heart, patience and forgiveness. It is important to confess possible mortal sins: murder, theft, renunciation of faith, adultery.

Important! The priest may appoint a penance. This means a ban for some time on communion, prayer, prostration. This is not a punishment for sins, but a means for the destruction of sin and the purification of the soul.

Memo to those preparing for Holy Communion

Communion must be performed "not in court and not in condemnation", for this it is necessary to fulfill a number of conditions.

Confession

  1. A person must understand that he will not just taste the Blood and Flesh of Christ, but will soon unite with the Creator for his sanctification and cleansing of sins.
  2. The communicant must be completely free from hypocrisy and present the Fear of God, which is the beginning of human wisdom.
  3. The soul of a person should experience peace, malice, enmity and hatred should be alien to it. Only in this state can one approach the Chalice.
  4. It is forbidden to violate church canons, it is necessary to be within the framework of moral life. Only such people are blessed.
  5. Before performing the Sacrament, the absolution of sins is obligatory.
  6. It is necessary to observe a liturgical fast: from 24:00 the night before until the very reception of the Holy Mysteries of Christ, it is forbidden to eat or drink anything. Communion must be taken on an empty stomach. On the days of night services before great holidays, the duration of the liturgical fast should be at least 6 hours. Relief is given only to seriously ill people: it is allowed to take medicines and drink them with a sip of water (but before taking communion, you must notify the priest about this).
  7. It is important to observe marital fasting for several days. But family circumstances should be taken into account so that this fast is not to the detriment of the communicant and his family. During bright week bodily fasting is allowed not to be observed.

In the temple, after reading the prayer "Our Father", the communicant should go to the altar and wait for the priest to take out the Chalice with the Gifts. After the clergy exits the royal doors, you should cross your arms over your chest (put your right hand on your left) and approach the Chalice in turn. The priest needs to pronounce his name given at baptism, and then reverently accept the Body and Blood of Christ, kiss the edge of the Chalice, move to the table where the communicants are given pieces of prosphora and warmth. But it’s still impossible to go home, after the sermon the priest will bring out the Crucifixion, to which you need to kiss your lips.

Video about preparing for confession

Confession (repentance) is one of the seven Christian Sacraments, in which a penitent who confesses his sins to a priest, with a visible forgiveness of sins (reading a permissive prayer), is invisibly resolved from them. by the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. This sacrament was instituted by the Savior, who said to His disciples: “Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose (untie) on earth will be loosed in heaven” (Gospel of Matthew, ch. 18, verse 18). And in another place: “Receive the Holy Spirit: to whom you forgive sins, they will be forgiven; on whom you leave, on that they will remain ”(Gospel of John, ch. 20, verses 22-23). The apostles, however, transferred the power to "bind and loose" to their successors - the bishops, who, in turn, when performing the Sacrament of ordination (priesthood) transfer this power to the priests.

The Holy Fathers call repentance the second baptism: if at baptism a person is cleansed from the power of original sin, transferred to him at birth from our forefathers Adam and Eve, then repentance washes him from the filth of his own sins committed by him after the Sacrament of Baptism.

In order for the Sacrament of Repentance to take place, the penitent needs: awareness of his sinfulness, sincere heartfelt repentance for his sins, a desire to leave sin and not repeat it, faith in Jesus Christ and hope in His mercy, faith that the Sacrament of Confession has the power to purify and wash away, through the prayer of a priest, sincerely confessed sins.

The Apostle John says: “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” (1st Epistle of John, ch. 1, verse 7). At the same time, we hear from many people: “I don’t kill, I don’t steal, I don’t

I commit adultery, so why should I repent? But if we carefully study God's commandments, we will find that we sin against many of them. Conventionally, all sins committed by a person can be divided into three groups: sins against God, sins against neighbors and sins against oneself.

Ingratitude to God.

Disbelief. Doubt in faith. Justifying your disbelief with an atheistic upbringing.

Apostasy, cowardly silence, when they blaspheme the faith of Christ, not wearing a pectoral cross, visiting various sects.

Mentioning the name of God in vain (when the name of God is mentioned not in prayer and not in pious conversation about Him).

Oath in the name of the Lord.

Divination, treatment with whispering grandmothers, turning to psychics, reading books on black, white and other magic, reading and distributing occult literature and various false teachings.

Thoughts of suicide.

Playing cards and other games of chance.

Failure to fulfill the morning and evening prayer rule.

Not visiting the temple of God on Sundays and holidays.

A waste of time watching TV, reading entertainment books at the expense of time for prayer, reading the gospel and spiritual literature.

Concealment of sins at confession and unworthy communion of the Holy Mysteries.

Self-confidence, human-confidence, that is, excessive hope in one's own strength and in someone else's help, without hope that everything is in the hands of God.

Raising children outside the Christian faith.

Irritability, anger, irritability.

Disrespect for elders.

Restlessness in your work.

Condemnation.

Taking someone else's is theft.

Quarrels with neighbors and neighbors.

Killing one's child in the womb (abortion), persuading others to commit murder (abortion).

Murder with a word - bringing a person by slander or condemnation to a painful state and even to death.

Drinking alcohol at the commemoration of the dead instead of intensified prayer for them.

Verbosity, gossip, idle talk. ,

Unreasonable laughter.

Foul language.

self-love.

Doing good deeds for show.

Vanity.

Desire to get rich.

Love of money.

Envy.

Drunkenness, drug use.

Gluttony.

Fornication - inciting fornication thoughts, impure desires, fornication touches, watching erotic films and reading similar books.

Fornication is the physical intimacy of persons who are not bound by marriage.

Adultery is adultery.

Fornication is unnatural - the physical proximity of persons of the same sex, masturbation.

Incest - physical intimacy with relatives or nepotism.

Although the above sins are conditionally divided into three parts, in the end they are all sins against God (because they violate His commandments and thereby offend Him) and against neighbors (because they do not allow true Christian relationships and love to be revealed). ), and against themselves (because they hinder the salvific dispensation of the soul).

Whoever wants to bring repentance before God for his sins must prepare for the Sacrament of Confession. You need to prepare for confession in advance: it is advisable to read the literature devoted to the Sacraments of Confession and Communion, remember all your sins, you can write them out on

a separate piece of paper to review it before confession. Sometimes a sheet with the listed sins is given to the confessor for reading, but sins that especially weigh on the soul must be told aloud. There is no need to tell the confessor long stories, it is enough to state the sin itself. For example, if you are at enmity with relatives or neighbors, you do not need to tell what caused this enmity - you need to repent of the very sin of condemning relatives or neighbors. It is not the list of sins that is important to God and the confessor, but the repentant feeling of the confessed, not detailed stories, but a contrite heart. It must be remembered that confession is not only an awareness of one's own shortcomings, but above all, a thirst to be cleansed of them. In no case is it unacceptable to justify oneself - this is no longer repentance! Elder Silouan of Athos explains what real repentance is: “Here is the sign of the forgiveness of sins: if you hated sin, then the Lord forgave you your sins.”

It is good to develop the habit of analyzing the past day every evening and bringing daily repentance before God, writing down serious sins for future confession with a confessor. It is necessary to reconcile with your neighbors and ask for forgiveness from all those who have offended. When preparing for confession, it is advisable to strengthen your evening prayer rule by reading the Penitential Canon, which is found in the Orthodox prayer book.

In order to confess, you need to find out when the Sacrament of Confession takes place in the temple. In those churches where the service is performed every day, the Sacrament of Confession is also performed every day. In those churches where there is no daily service, you must first familiarize yourself with the schedule of services.

Children up to seven years old (in the Church they are called babies) begin the Sacrament of Communion without prior confession, but it is necessary from early childhood to develop in children a sense of reverence for this great

Sacrament. Frequent communion without proper preparation can develop in children an undesirable sense of the routine of what is happening. It is advisable to prepare babies for the upcoming Communion 2-3 days in advance: read the Gospel, the lives of the saints, other soulful books with them, reduce, or better, completely exclude watching TV (but this must be done very tactfully, without developing negative associations in the child with the preparation for Communion ), follow their prayer in the morning and before bedtime, talk with the child about the past days and bring him to a sense of shame for his own misdeeds. The main thing to remember is that there is nothing more effective for a child than a personal example of parents.

Starting from the age of seven, children (youths) already begin the Sacrament of Communion, like adults, only after the preliminary celebration of the Sacrament of Confession. In many ways, the sins listed in the previous sections are also inherent in children, but still, children's confession has its own characteristics. To set the children up for sincere repentance, it is pleaded that they be given the following list of possible sins to read:

Did you lie in bed in the morning and did you miss the morning prayer rule in connection with this?

Didn't he sit down at the table without praying and didn't he go to bed without prayer?

Do you know by heart the most important Orthodox prayers: “Our Father”, “Jesus Prayer”, “Virgin Mother of God, rejoice”, a prayer to your Heavenly patron, whose name you bear?

Did you go to church every Sunday?

Didn't he get carried away with various amusements on church holidays instead of visiting the temple of God?

Did you behave properly church service, didn’t he run around the temple, didn’t he conduct empty conversations with his peers, thereby introducing them into temptation?

Did he not pronounce the name of God unnecessarily?

Are you making the sign of the cross correctly, are you in no hurry to do so, are you not distorting the sign of the cross?

Did you get distracted by extraneous thoughts while praying?

Do you read the Gospel, other spiritual books?

Do you wear a pectoral cross and are you not ashamed of it?

Do you use a cross as a decoration, which is a sin?

Do you wear various amulets, for example, signs of the zodiac?

Didn't he guess, didn't he tell?

Didn’t he hide his sins before the priest at confession because of false shame, and then take communion unworthily?

Was he not proud of himself and others of his successes and abilities?

Have you argued with anyone - just to get the upper hand in the argument?

Did you lie to your parents out of fear of being punished?

Didn’t you eat fast food, for example, ice cream, without the permission of your parents?

Did he listen to his parents, argue with them, demand an expensive purchase from them?

Did he hit anyone? Have you encouraged others to do so?

Did he offend the younger ones?

Have you tortured animals?

Didn't he gossip about anyone, didn't he snitch on anyone?

Have you laughed at people who have any physical handicaps?

Have you tried smoking, drinking, sniffing glue, or using drugs?

Didn't he swear?

Have you played cards?

Did you do any handicraft?

Did you take someone else's for yourself?

Have you been in the habit of taking without asking what does not belong to you?

Are you too lazy to help your parents around the house?

Was he pretending to be sick to avoid his duties?

Did you envy others?

The above list is only a general scheme of possible sins. Each child may have their own, individual experiences associated with specific cases. The task of parents is to set the child up for repentant feelings before the Sacrament of Confession. You can advise him to remember his misdeeds committed after the last confession, write his sins on a piece of paper, but this should not be done for him. The main thing: the child must understand that the Sacrament of Confession is a Sacrament that cleanses the soul from sins, subject to sincere, sincere repentance and the desire not to repeat them again.

Confession is made in churches either in the evening after the evening service, or in the morning before the start of the liturgy. In no case should one be late for the beginning of confession, since the Sacrament begins with the reading of the rites, in which everyone who wishes to confess must prayerfully participate. When reading the rites, the priest addresses the penitents so that they give their names - everyone answers in an undertone. Those who are late for the beginning of confession are not allowed to the Sacrament; the priest, if there is such an opportunity, at the end of the confession, reads the rites again for them and accepts the confession, or appoints it for another day. It is impossible for women to start the Sacrament of Repentance during the period of monthly cleansing.

Confession usually takes place in a church with a confluence of people, so you need to respect the secrecy of confession, not crowd around the priest who is receiving confession, and not embarrass the confessor who reveals his sins to the priest. The confession must be complete. It is impossible to confess some sins first, and leave others for the next time. Those sins that the penitent confessed in pre-

previous confessions and which have already been released to him are not named again. If possible, you need to confess to the same confessor. You should not, having a permanent confessor, look for another to confess your sins, which a sense of false shame prevents a familiar confessor from revealing. Those who do this are trying to deceive God Himself by their actions: at confession we confess our sins not to the confessor, but together with him - to the Savior Himself.

In large churches, due to the large number of penitents and the impossibility of the priest to accept confession from everyone, a “general confession” is usually practiced, when the priest lists the most common sins aloud and the confessors standing in front of him repent of them, after which everyone in turn comes under the permissive prayer . Those who have never been to confession or have not confessed for several years should avoid general confession. Such people need to go through private confession - for which you need to choose either a weekday, when there are not so many confessors in the church, or find a parish where only private confession is performed. If this is not possible, you need to go to the priest at a general confession for permissive prayer among the last, so as not to detain anyone, and, having explained the situation, open yourself to him in the sins you have committed. So should those who have grave sin.

Many ascetics of piety warn that a grave sin, about which the confessor kept silent at the general confession, remains unrepentant, and therefore not forgiven.

After confessing sins and reading the prayer of permissiveness by the priest, the penitent kisses the Cross and the Gospel lying on the lectern and, if he was preparing for communion, takes a blessing from the confessor for communion of the Holy Mysteries of Christ.

In some cases, the priest may impose penance on the penitent - spiritual exercises intended to deepen repentance and eradicate sinful habits. Penance must be treated as the will of God, spoken through a priest, requiring obligatory fulfillment in order to heal the soul of the penitent. If it is impossible for various reasons to fulfill the penance, one should turn to the priest who imposed it to resolve the difficulties that have arisen.

Those wishing not only to confess, but also to take communion, must adequately and in accordance with the requirements of the Church prepare for the Sacrament of Communion. This preparation is called fasting.

The days of fasting usually last a week, in extreme cases - three days. Fasting is prescribed on these days. Modest food is excluded from the diet - meat, dairy products, eggs, and on days of strict fasting - fish. Spouses abstain from physical intimacy. The family refuses entertainment and TV viewing. If circumstances permit, these days one should attend services in the temple. The morning and evening prayer rules are more diligently carried out, with the addition of reading the Penitential Canon to them.

Regardless of when the Sacrament of Confession is performed in the temple - in the evening or in the morning, it is necessary to attend the evening service on the eve of communion. In the evening, before reading the prayers for the future, three canons are read: Penitent to our Lord Jesus Christ, the Mother of God, Guardian Angel. You can read each canon separately, or use prayer books where these three canons are combined. Then the canon for Holy Communion is read until the prayers for Holy Communion, which are read in the morning. For those who find it difficult to make such a prayer rule in

one day, they take a blessing from the priest to read three canons in advance during the days of fasting.

It is quite difficult for children to follow all the prayer rules for preparing for the sacrament. Parents, together with the confessor, need to choose the optimal number of prayers that the child will be able to do, then gradually increase the number of necessary prayers needed to prepare for Communion, up to the full prayer rule for Holy Communion.

For some, it is very difficult to read the necessary canons and prayers. For this reason, some do not go to confession and do not receive communion for years. Many people confuse preparation for confession (which does not require such a large volume of prayers to be read) and preparation for communion. Such people can be recommended to approach the Sacraments of Confession and Communion in stages. First, you need to properly prepare for confession and, when confessing sins, ask your confessor for advice. It is necessary to pray to the Lord that He will help to overcome difficulties and give strength to adequately prepare for the Sacrament of Communion.

Since it is customary to start the Sacrament of Communion on an empty stomach, from twelve o'clock in the morning they no longer eat or drink (smokers do not smoke). The exception is infants (children under seven years of age). But children from a certain age (starting from 5-6 years old, and if possible even earlier) must be accustomed to the existing rule.

In the morning they also do not eat or drink anything and, of course, do not smoke, you can only brush your teeth. After reading morning prayers prayers for Holy Communion are read. If it is difficult to read the prayers for Holy Communion in the morning, then you need to take a blessing from the priest to read them the evening before. If confession is performed in the church in the morning, it is necessary to arrive on time, before the start of confession. If confession was made the night before, then the confessor comes to the beginning of the service and prays with everyone.

Communion of the Holy Mysteries of Christ is a Sacrament established by the Savior Himself during the Last Supper: “Jesus took bread and, blessing, broke it and, distributing it to the disciples, said: take, eat: this is My Body. And, taking the cup and giving thanks, he gave it to them and said: drink from it all, for this is My Blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins ”(Gospel of Matthew, ch. 26, verses 26-28).

During the Divine Liturgy, the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist is celebrated - bread and wine are mysteriously transformed into the Body and Blood of Christ and the communicants, taking Them during Communion, mysteriously, incomprehensibly to the human mind, unite with Christ Himself, since He is all contained in each Particle of Communion .

Communion of the Holy Mysteries of Christ is necessary in order to enter eternal life. The Savior Himself speaks of this: “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the Flesh of the Son of Man and drink His Blood, you will not have life in you. Whoever eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day ... ”(Gospel of John, ch. 6, verses 53-54).

The Sacrament of Communion is incomprehensibly great, and therefore requires preliminary purification by the Sacrament of Penance; the only exceptions are infants under seven years of age, who receive communion without the preparation prescribed for the laity. Women need to wipe lipstick off their lips. It is forbidden for women to receive communion during the month of cleansing. Women after childbirth are allowed to take communion only after the fortieth day prayer of cleansing has been read over them.

During the exit of the priest with the Holy Gifts, the communicants make one earthly (if it is a weekday) or waist (if it is a Sunday or holiday) bow and carefully listen to the words of the prayers read by the priest, repeating them to themselves. After reading the prayers

private traders, with their hands crossed on their chests (the right over the left), decorously, without crowding, in deep humility approach the Holy Chalice. A pious custom has developed to let the children go first to the Chalice, then the men come up, after them the women. One should not be baptized at the Chalice, so as not to accidentally touch it. Having called his name aloud, the communicant, opening his mouth, accepts the Holy Gifts - the Body and Blood of Christ. After Communion, the deacon or sexton wipes the mouth of the communicant with a special cloth, after which he kisses the edge of the holy Chalice and goes to a special table, where he takes a drink (warmth) and eats a particle of prosphora. This is done so that not a single particle of the Body of Christ remains in the mouth. Without accepting warmth, one cannot venerate either icons, or the Cross, or the Gospel.

After receiving the warmth, the communicants do not leave the temple and pray with everyone until the end of the service. After the dismissal (the final words of the service), the communicants approach the Cross and carefully listen to the prayers of thanksgiving after Holy Communion. After listening to the prayers, the communicants sedately disperse, trying to keep the purity of their soul cleansed of sins for as long as possible, not exchanging for empty talk and deeds that are not useful for the soul. On the day after communion of the Holy Mysteries, prostrations are not performed; with the blessing of the priest, they are not applied to the hand. You can apply only to icons, the Cross and the Gospel. The rest of the day must be spent piously: avoiding verbosity (it is better to be silent more generally), watching TV, excluding marital intimacy, it is advisable for smokers to refrain from smoking. It is advisable to read thanksgiving prayers at home after Holy Communion. The fact that on the day of the sacrament one cannot shake hands is a prejudice. Under no circumstances should you take communion several times in one day.

In cases of illness and infirmity, communion can be done at home. For this, a priest is invited to the house. Depending on

Depending on his condition, the sick person is properly prepared for confession and communion. In any case, he can take communion only on an empty stomach (with the exception of the dying). Children under the age of seven do not receive communion at home, since, unlike adults, they can only partake of the Blood of Christ, and the spare Gifts that a priest communes at home contain only particles of the Body of Christ saturated with His Blood. For the same reason, infants do not receive communion at the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts celebrated on weekdays during Great Lent.

Each Christian either determines the time when he needs to confess and take communion, or does it with the blessing of his spiritual father. There is a pious custom to take communion at least five times a year - on each of the four multi-day fasts and on the day of your Angel (the day of memory of the saint whose name you bear).

How often it is necessary to take communion, the Monk Nikodim the Holy Mountaineer gives pious advice: The heart then partakes of the Lord spiritually.

But just as we are constrained by the body, and surrounded by external affairs and relationships, in which we must take part for a long time, the spiritual tasting of the Lord, due to the bifurcation of our attention and feelings, is weakened day by day, obscured and hidden ...

Therefore, the zealots, sensing its impoverishment, hasten to restore it in strength, and when they restore it, they feel that they are, as it were, eating the Lord again.

Prayers before Liturgy

The Sacrament of Communion or the Eucharist (from Greek - thanksgiving) is the main Sacrament of the Orthodox Church and, at the same time, the most frequently performed Sacrament: in any church, Communion is celebrated every Sunday and on holidays, and in churches where more than one priest serves - every day, with the exception of special days of the Church Charter.

Communion is celebrated only at the Liturgy, which is usually served in the morning. In this daily service and its very event - the Sacrament of Communion - there is a great meaning, an ancient tradition and the strong grace of God, truly enlightening every Orthodox Christian.

Many people, realizing this, want to begin the Sacrament and take communion at the end of the Liturgy, but do not know what needs to be done to do this. But you really need to prepare for Communion. Of course, you can ask the employees of the church shop or priests - but often timidity and inexperience in church life interfere.

From our article, you will learn how to prepare by prayer, fasting and repentance for Confession and Communion, how to properly take communion and how to name sins in confession.

Sacrament of the Church - what does it mean?

The Orthodox Church has seven Sacraments. All of them are established by the Lord and have as their basis His words, preserved in the Gospel. The Sacrament of the Church is a sacrament, where with the help of external signs, rituals, invisibly, that is, mysteriously, hence the name, the grace of the Holy Spirit is given to people. The saving power of God is true, in contrast to the "energy" and magic of the spirits of darkness, which only promise help, but actually destroy souls.

In addition, the Tradition of the Church says that in the Sacraments, unlike home prayers, prayer services or memorial services, grace is promised by God Himself and enlightenment is given to a person who has prepared for the Sacraments faithfully, who comes with sincere faith and repentance, understanding his sinfulness before our Sinless Savior.

The Lord blessed the apostles to perform seven Sacraments, which are usually named in order from birth to death of a person: Baptism, Confirmation, Repentance (confession), Communion, Wedding (marriage), Priesthood, Consecration of the Unction (unction).

Baptism and Confirmation today are performed in succession, one after the other. That is, a person who has come to be baptized or a child who has been brought will be anointed with Holy Myrrh - a special mixture of oils, which is created a large number of times a year, in the presence of the Patriarch.

Communion follows only after Confession. You need to repent at least of those sins that you still see in yourself - at confession, the priest, if possible, will ask you about other sins, and help you confess.

Before being ordained to the priesthood, a priest must marry or become a monk (it is interesting that tonsure is not a Sacrament, a person himself makes vows to God and then asks Him to help in their fulfillment). In the Sacrament of the Wedding, God gives His grace, uniting people into one whole. Only then can a person, as it were, in the integrity of his nature, accept the Sacrament of the Priesthood.

The Sacrament of Unction should not be confused with the anointing with oil, which is performed at the All-Night Vigil (an evening service that takes place every Saturday and before church holidays) and is a symbolic blessing of the Church. Collect everyone, even those who are healthy in body, usually in great post, and seriously ill patients all year - if necessary, even at home. This is the Sacrament of healing the soul and body. It aims at cleansing from unconfessed sins (this is especially important to do before death) and healing the disease.

Sacrament of Confession - cleansing from all mistakes and sins

Confession, as we have said, precedes Communion, so we will talk about the Sacrament of Confession at the beginning.

During Confession, a person names his sins to the priest - but, as it is said in the prayer before confession, which the priest will read, this is a confession to Christ Himself, and the priest is only a servant of God who visibly gives His grace. We receive forgiveness from the Lord: His words are preserved in the Gospel, by which Christ gives to the apostles, and through them to the priests, their successors, the power to forgive sins: “Receive the Holy Spirit. To whom you forgive sins, they will be forgiven; on whom you leave, on that they will remain.”

In Confession we receive the forgiveness of all the sins that we have named and those that we have forgotten. Under no circumstances should sins be concealed! If you are ashamed, name the sins, among others, briefly.

Confession, despite the fact that many Orthodox people confess once or twice a week, that is, quite often, is called the second baptism. During Baptism, a person is cleansed from original sin by the grace of Christ, who accepted the Crucifixion for the sake of delivering all people from sins. And during repentance at confession, we get rid of new sins that we have committed throughout our life path.

Preparation rules: what sins should be named at confession and how to recognize them

You can come to Confession without preparing for Communion. That is, Confession is necessary before Communion, but you can come to Confession separately. Preparing for confession is basically reflecting on your life and repentance, that is, admitting that certain things you have done are sins. Before Confession:

If you have never confessed, start remembering your life from the age of seven (it is at this time that a child growing up in an Orthodox family, according to church tradition, comes to the first confession, that is, he can be clearly responsible for his actions). Realize what misconducts cause you remorse, because conscience, according to the word of the Holy Fathers, is the voice of God in a person. Think about how you can call these actions, for example: he took sweets saved for the holiday without asking, got angry and yelled at a friend, left a friend in trouble - this is theft, anger and anger, betrayal.

Write down all the sins that you remember, realizing your wrong and promising God not to repeat these mistakes.

Continue thinking as an adult. In confession, you cannot and should not tell the history of each sin, its name is enough. Remember that many encouraged modern world deeds are sins: romance or association with married woman- adultery, sex outside of marriage - fornication, a clever deal where you got a benefit, and gave another low-quality thing - deceit and theft. All this also needs to be written down and promised to God not to sin again.

Read Orthodox literature on Confession. An example of such a book is “The Experience of Building a Confession” by Archimandrite John Krestyankin, a contemporary elder who died in 2006. He knew the sins and sorrows of modern people.

A good habit is to analyze your daily life. The same advice is usually given by psychologists in order to form an adequate self-esteem of a person. Remember, or rather write down your sins, made by accident or on purpose (mentally ask God to forgive them and promise not to commit again), and your successes - thank God and His help for them.

There is a Canon of repentance to the Lord, which you can read standing in front of the icon on the eve of confession. It is also included in the number of prayers that are preparatory to Communion. There are also several Orthodox prayers with a list of sins and words of repentance. With the help of such prayers and the Penitential Canon, you will prepare for confession sooner, because it will be easy for you to understand what actions are called sins and what you need to repent of.

Here is one of the prayers of repentance - the daily confession of sins, which is read as part of the Orthodox evening prayer rule:

“I confess to You, the One Lord my God and Creator, glorified by all the Holy Trinity, Whom all people worship: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, all my sins that I have committed all the days of my life, which I have sinned every hour, during today and in the past days and nights: deeds, words, thoughts, gluttony, drunkenness, eating in secret from others, idle discussion of people and things, despondency, laziness, disputes, disobedience and deceit of superiors, slander, condemnation, careless and inattentive attitude to affairs and people, selfishness and selfishness, greed, theft, lies, criminal gain, the desire for easy gain, jealousy, envy, anger, remorse, rancor, hatred, bribery or extortion and all my senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch, other sins of soul and body, with which I angered You, my God and Creator, and caused harm to my neighbor; I pity all this, I acknowledge my guilt before You, my God, and I repent myself: only, Lord my God, help me, I humbly implore you with tears: forgive me all my sins, according to Your mercy, and deliver me from all that I listed in prayer to You, according to Your good will and love for all people. Amen".

You should not look for a special spiritual uplift, strong emotions before and during Confession.

Repentance is:

    Reconciliation with relatives and friends if you have seriously offended or deceived someone;

    Understanding that a number of actions you have done intentionally or carelessly and the constant preservation of certain feelings are unrighteous and are sins;

    A firm intention not to sin anymore, not to repeat sins, for example, to legitimize fornication, stop adultery, recover from drunkenness and drug addiction;

    Faith in the Lord, His mercy and His grace-filled help;

Faith that the Sacrament of Confession, by Christ's grace and the power of His death on the Cross, will destroy all your sins.

How is confession and what to do in confession

Confession usually takes place half an hour before the start of each Liturgy (you need to find out about its time from the schedule) in any Orthodox church.

In the temple you need to be in appropriate clothes: men in trousers and shirts with at least short sleeves (not in shorts and T-shirts), without hats; women in a skirt below the knee and a scarf (kerchief, scarf) - by the way, skirts and scarves can be taken free of charge for the duration of your stay in the temple.

For confession, you only need to take a sheet with written down sins (it is needed so as not to forget to name the sins).

The priest will go to the place of confession - usually a group of confessors gather there, it is located on the left or right at the altar - and will read the prayers that begin the Sacrament. Then, in some temples, according to tradition, a list of sins is read - in case you have forgotten some sins - the priest calls for repentance for them (those that you have committed) and give your name. This is called a general confession.

Then, in turn, you go to the confessional table. The priest can (it depends on the practice) take the sheet of sins from your hands to read it yourself, or then you yourself read aloud. If you want to tell the situation and repent of it in more detail, or if you have a question about this situation, about spiritual life in general, ask it after listing the sins, before remission.
After you have completed the dialogue with the priest: you simply listed the sins and said: “I repent,” or asked a question, received an answer to it and thanked you, say your name. Then the priest performs absolution: you bend down a little lower (some people kneel), puts on your head an epitrachelion (a piece of embroidered fabric with a slit for the neck, means the pastor of a priest), reads a short prayer and baptizes your head over the epitrachili.

When the priest removes the epitrachelion from your head, you must immediately cross yourself, kiss the Cross first, then the Gospel, which lie in front of you on the confessional lectern (high table).

If you are going to Communion, take a blessing from the priest: put your palms in front of him in a “boat”, right to left, say: “Bless to take communion, I was preparing (preparing).” In many churches, priests simply bless everyone after confession: therefore, after kissing the Gospel, look at the priest - whether he calls the next confessor or waits for you to finish kissing and take the blessing.

The Sacrament of the Communion - the blessing of God and the transformation of man

The most strong prayer- this is any commemoration and stay at the Liturgy. During the Sacrament of the Eucharist (Communion), the whole Church prays for a person.

Preparing bread and wine, which during the Sacrament will become the Body and Blood of Christ, the priest takes a prosphora (small round unleavened bread with the seal of the Cross), cuts a piece in it and says: "Remember, Lord, Thy servants (names) ...". Names are taken from notes, all those praying at the Liturgy and all communicants are commemorated with separate prosphora. All parts of the prosphora become the Body of Christ in the Communion Chalice. This is how people receive great power and grace from God.

That is why every person needs to sometimes attend the Liturgy - submit a note for himself and loved ones, partake of the Holy Mysteries of Christ - the Body and Blood of the Lord. This is especially important to do in difficult moments of life, despite the lack of time.

The sacrament of Communion was established by Christ Himself during the Last Supper before His death on the Cross and commanded the apostles to always partake for the sake of the memory of Him and life in eternity: “He who eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood has eternal life, and I will resurrect him on the last day” . Christ spoke of the fact that in the Sacrament of the Eucharist, bread and wine would be constantly miraculously transfigured into His Body and Blood, and the people who eat (eat) them would unite with Himself. The Church blesses to take communion at least once a year: about once a month is better.

Preparation required before Communion

It is necessary to prepare oneself for the Sacrament of Holy Communion, this is called "repentance", "retreat". Preparation includes reading special prayers according to the prayer book, fasting and repentance:

Prepare by fasting for 2-3 days. You need to be moderate in food, give up meat, ideally - from meat, milk, eggs, if you are not sick and not pregnant.

Try during these days to read the morning and evening prayer rule with attention and diligence. Read spiritual literature, especially necessary for preparing for Confession.

Give up entertainment, visiting noisy places of rest.

In a few days (you can do it in one evening, but you will get tired), read the canon of repentance to the Lord Jesus Christ, the canons of the Mother of God and the Guardian Angel (find the text where they are combined), as well as the Rule for Communion (it also includes in a small canon, several psalms and prayers).

Reconcile with people with whom you are in a serious quarrel.

It is better to visit the evening worship - All-night vigil. You can confess during it, if Confession will be carried out in the temple, or come to the temple for the morning Confession.

Before the morning Liturgy, do not eat or drink anything after midnight and in the morning.

Confession before Communion is a necessary part of the preparation for it. No one is allowed to take Communion without confession, except for people in mortal danger and children under seven years of age. There are a number of testimonies of people who came to Communion without Confession - after all, priests, due to the crowd, sometimes cannot track this. Such an act is a great sin. The Lord punished them for their boldness with difficulties, illnesses and sorrows.

Women should not receive communion during menstruation and immediately after childbirth: young mothers are allowed to take Communion only after the priest has read a prayer for cleansing over them.

Prayers before Communion - a means to true repentance and enlightenment

The Communion Prayers are a series of beautiful invocations to God, compiled over the centuries by saints. They are usually read in Church Slavonic and conclude with words of repentance and thanksgiving to God for His power given in the Sacrament of Communion.

The text of the prayer in Russian of St. John of Damascus - one of the prayers before Communion can be read online below:

“I stand before the doors of Your temple, but still I do not forget evil thoughts. However, You, Christ our God, justified the tax collector, and had mercy on the Canaanite, and opened the doors of paradise to the thief - open the abysses of Your Love for all people to me, accept me who comes and touches You, like a harlot and bleeding: only the edges of your robe touched and easily received healing, while the other held your most pure feet, and received the remission of sins. And I, a sinner, daring to accept Your whole Body, so that I will not be scorched by Your grace, like fire; but accept me, like those women, and enlighten my soul and feelings, scorching my sins with fire, prayers without the seed of the Mother Who gave birth to You and the Heavenly Powers, because You are blessed by all forever. Amen".

How to behave during Communion?

People often learn everything about the preparation, but they do not know what to do during the Communion itself.
After singing the prayer “Our Father” and closing the Royal Doors, you need to go to the altar (or stand in line that gathers at the altar). Skip ahead children and parents with babies - they take communion at the beginning; in some temples, men are also allowed to go ahead.

When the priest takes out the Chalice and reads two prayers (sometimes they are read by the whole church), cross yourself, cross your arms to your shoulders - right to left - and go without lowering your hands until you take communion.

Do not cross yourself at the Chalice, so as not to accidentally push it. Say your name in Baptism, open your mouth wide. The priest himself will put a spoonful of Body and Blood into your mouth. Try to swallow them right away. Kiss the bottom of the Chalice, move away and only then cross yourself. Go to the table with "warmth" to drink and eat Communion with a piece of prosphora. It must not remain in your mouth so that you do not accidentally spit it out.

Do not leave the church until the end of the service. After Communion, you can listen to thanksgiving prayers in church or read them at home.

On the day of Communion, it is better not to spit (parts of the Communion could remain in the mouth), try not to have a lot of fun right away and behave with piety. It is better to spend the day in joy, communicating with loved ones, reading spiritual books, calm walks.

May the Lord bless you with His grace!
