During her life, Anastasia always helped prisoners with kind words, financially and physically.

Why is prayer needed to Anastasia the Pattern Maker?

Unfortunately, there is a lot of injustice in our world and an innocent person who has not committed any crime can be detained and convicted. To ensure that the court’s verdict is as fair as possible, the prayer of Anastasia the Pattern Maker from the court will help.

It must be read every day while the pre-trial investigation is underway. If a person is truly innocent and he sincerely, with a pure soul, asks for help, then it will definitely come. The court will definitely make a fair decision. But Anastasia is not only the patroness of all prisoners; they also ask for her help:

  • girls who want the birth to be successful;
  • people who want their children to be healthy;
  • for various other needs.

It is not necessary for a convicted person to pray and ask for help; his family and friends can also read a prayer to Anastasia the Pattern Maker for the release of a person from prison. This prayer is considered one of the most effective in this problem.

What do they pray to Saint Anastasia for?

Since Anastasia the Pattern Maker is the patron saint of all prisoners, in most cases, when people read a prayer, they ask Anastasia for the following acts:

  • assistance in making a fair decision by the court;
  • so that the prisoner has the mental strength to stay in places of deprivation of liberty;
  • assistance in easy childbirth and childbearing;
  • for a person to be released on parole.

When a person is in prison and he feels that his strength is running out, the prayer of St. Anastasia the Patternmaker will again come to the rescue.

Who was Saint Anastasia during her lifetime?

The girl was born in Rome into a wealthy family, the girl's father was a pagan, and her mother was a secret Christian. It was she who instilled in Anastasia the love of the Lord, giving her to study with Saint Chrysogon.

Anastasia was a very capable student and everyone noted her high intellectual development. But, unfortunately, Anastasia’s mother did not live long and died. Then her father, without the girl’s permission, decides to marry her to a convinced pagan. But she took a vow of virginity and, in order not to break it, she told her husband about some non-existent illness.

Meanwhile, she dressed as a beggar and went around prisons and helped prisoners. She fed them, guided them on the right path, gave them spiritual strength to stay in prison, bandaged their wounds, and so on. At that time, a very large part of the people were in prison, and Anastasia tried to help everyone, completely devoting herself to this cause.

But she was unable to hide from her own husband for long; when he found out, he severely beat her and locked her in a room, placing two guards on her so that she could not leave it. Anastasia did not have to be locked up for a long time; after a while her husband died and she, having sold almost all her valuables, began to help all those convicted with even greater force.

Since at that time they were imprisoned for various acts, her mentor was also convicted. She came to him, and he already gave her spiritual strength so that she would continue to help everyone in need. During her travels, Anastasia the Patternmaker found herself a faithful friend who helped people with her. But after some time she was executed along with her children.

For these acts in ancient times, Christians were despised and killed, the same fate happened to Anastasia, she was burned at the stake. Thus ended the martyrdom of Anastasia the Pattern Maker.

In difficult situations, we call on many saints for help and turn to anyone just to improve the situation. So, in Orthodoxy there are a large number of revered icons. Praying before them can work miracles. One of these is considered to be the icon of Anastasia the Pattern Maker.

The life of the Great Martyr Anastasia the Pattern Maker contained irrefutable facts of how devoted she was to the Lord. She was considered one of the first to suffer for Christianity during the reign of Diocletian. She was born into the family of a pagan father. Her mother was a secret Christian and from a very young age tried to instill her daughter’s love for him.

The Roman Empire at that time suffered from the tyrannical rule of a pagan emperor. And the believers were in constant persecution. That is why no one really tried to show their religious views.

The girl received a very good education. Throughout her life, she was accompanied by a spiritual mentor, who in every possible way supported her desire to master all the knowledge of Christianity. Her father married her to a pagan. Even being married, she was able to maintain purity. She explained this by the presence of a terrible illness that interfered with the fulfillment of marital duties.

That time was marked by overcrowded casemates in which Christians stayed. Faith in God was persecuted and severely punished. She secretly got to the prisoners and helped them to the best of her ability. This was not only based on feeding, treating wounds, but also on maintaining faith in Christ. Many of those who were imprisoned received relief. That is why the prayer to Anastasia the Pattern Maker is often read for release from prison.

After some time, she was captured and tortured. They tried to force her to renounce, but she was firm in her convictions. She was sentenced to starvation. She lasted like this for 60 days. Theodotia appeared to her every day, strengthening her spiritually. Noticing that this imprisonment did not bring her any harm, it was decided to drown her along with the other prisoners. But they failed to do this either. The saint was grabbed again and stretched between four pillars over the fire. But her body was not damaged by fire. One of the pious women took him and buried him in the garden.

This was the end of Anastasia’s earthly journey, but other miraculous incidents began to happen.

How does the prayer to St. Anastasia the Pattern Maker help?

A large number of people say that all sorts of miracles can happen through prayer requests to her. There is a lot of information that people come to her with various requests, but most often these are:

  • gaining confidence and strength before the court;
  • not to lose faith in difficult life situations;
  • enduring all the hardships of imprisonment;
  • avoiding unfair condemnation.

In addition, she healed during her lifetime and this is important for those who have health problems.

Saint icon

The meaning of the icon of Anastasia the Pattern Maker in Orthodoxy is based on the fact that she is considered a helper to prisoners. It is recommended to say the prayer text in front of her face, which can be found in every prison. Some even serve her. But first you should repent of your deeds. Only under this condition will your speeches be heard and grace given.

But we should not forget that it is not the face to which we direct our speeches that helps us, but the Lord. The saint serves only as a guide. Everything depends mostly on us.

Reading prayer texts is considered more powerful over relics. You can find them in:

  • Constantinople;
  • Cathedral of St. Anastasia in Croatia;
  • Benediktbeuern Monastery;
  • monastery on Holy Mount Athos.

How does one pray?

It is advisable to do this in privacy. If this doesn’t work out, then try to focus as much as possible on the words and not get distracted. Everything you say must be imbued with faith in the Lord, otherwise it is just empty words. When starting a petition, you need to cleanse your heart, mind and soul as much as possible.

If you really committed a crime and were punished for it, then repent and ask for help in atonement for your sin. An important fact is that you should not ask to commit an ungodly deed in front of someone. Everything will turn out to be the opposite of what you want.

Where is the best place to pray?

There is no clear answer to this question. Everyone knows that visiting church for a believer is an integral part of his life. The most important thing is to pray with faith. But if your life situation is such that you need to ask her for help, then go to a holy place for it. There are several shrines where you can go. Among them are:

  • a monastery near the village of Predushchelnoye in Crimea;
  • a monastery in the periphery of Central Macedonia in Greece;
  • house church on Vasilyevsky Island;
  • Church in Teply Stan.

It is the Church of St. Anastasia the Pattern Maker in Moscow that receives special attention. It also contains particles of the saint's relics. You can find out when you can visit them and how to get there from the monastery’s website on the Internet.

Prayers to Saint Anastasia

Each request can be based on the text of a prayer or its own words. The main task of the one who asks is to put his whole soul into them. Here is an example of a prayer for her.

“O long-suffering and wise great martyr of Christ Anastasia! With your soul you stand in heaven at the throne of the Lord, and on earth, by the grace given to you, you perform various healings. Look mercifully upon us (names), asking for your help: extend your holy prayers to the Lord for us, and ask us for forgiveness of our sins, healing for the sick, quick help for the grieving and needy; pray to the Lord to give us all a Christian death and a good answer at His Last Judgment, so that together with you we may be worthy to glorify the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen."

Akathist

There is also stronger text. If it is not possible to remember it, then the akathist to Anastasia the Pattern Maker is read from a book or prayer book.

It would seem that if an Orthodox Christian and his faith are one whole, life should pass without stress, because a person sets his priorities correctly. But no one is immune from problems, life's troubles and mistakes. If a similar situation has befallen you, prayer before the trial is something that will certainly help.

The Importance of Prayer in Legal Cases

If you have to go through a trial, you need to properly prepare for this event in a spiritual sense. Check your own conscience first. If you know that you are guilty of committing a crime and simply want to hide your guilt from justice, it is better not to pray to the Lord. This will definitely not help yourself. You can only hope for God's help in a situation with an upcoming trial if you know for sure that you are innocent. It is allowed to turn to the Lord or saints before a trial in the following situations:

  • slander;
  • fraud;
  • deception;
  • false accusation.

It is also recommended to ask the Lord for help in legal matters if an Orthodox Christian has suffered from fraud or another offense committed by another person. In this case, first contact the law enforcement agencies, make sure that they have made attempts to punish the attackers. If there is no result, you have the right to turn to God to ask for justice to be done, for the establishment of the highest justice.

If you are going to trial and you know for sure that you have done nothing wrong, you can also ask the priest for a blessing. However, it is advisable to visit the temple several times. As for which saints it is better to turn to in prayer, there are no strict rules. Read the sacred text to the blessed one who is most revered by your family. If desired, say a prayer to God, Jesus Christ or the Most Pure Mother of God. If you don’t know who is best to turn to before the trial, you can read prayers to the following saints:

  • Spyridon of Trimifuntsky;
  • Nicholas the Wonderworker;
  • Anastasia the Pattern Maker.

When contacting St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, it is not necessary to look for the detailed text of the prayer. Many people know about his power; moreover, the blessed one is revered not only in Orthodox Christianity. Anyone who is confident in his innocence can safely talk to the blessed one and make a request for the establishment of the highest justice. You can do this in your own words.

Spyridon of Trimifuntsky is a blessed one whose relics are kept on the Greek island of Corfu.

For several hundred years now, his remains have maintained the temperature of the human body.

A prayer dedicated to the saint can be said both in church and at home. Contact him sincerely, and the blessed one will never refuse help. As for Anastasia the Pattern Maker, even during her lifetime the saint sympathized with the prisoners. She brought them food, consoled them, and bandaged their wounds. It would not be a bad idea to contact her before the trial.

In order for the sacred text you pronounce to be truly effective, it should be read following certain church canons. Be sure to turn to the saints not only before the trial, but throughout the trial.

If possible, go to church and light a candle in front of the image of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

When justice has triumphed, return to the church and thank the blessed one.

Video “Why is prayer needed?”

In this video, the archpriest will tell you what influence prayer has on our lives, thinking and actions.

Who to ask for help

Nicholas the Wonderworker

O all-holy Nicholas, exceedingly saintly servant of the Lord, our warm intercessor, and everywhere in sorrow a quick helper. Help me, a sinner and a sad person, in this present life, beg the Lord God to grant me forgiveness of all my sins, which I have sinned greatly from my youth, in all my life, in deed, word, thought and all my feelings; and at the end of my soul, help me, the accursed one, beg the Lord God, the Creator of all creation, to deliver me from airy ordeals and eternal torment, so that I always glorify the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit and your merciful intercession, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Great Martyr Anastasia

O long-suffering and wise great martyr of Christ Anastasia! With your soul you stand in heaven at the throne of the Lord, and on earth, by the grace given to you, you perform various healings. Look mercifully upon us (names), asking for your help: extend your holy prayers to the Lord for us, and ask us for forgiveness of our sins, healing for the sick, quick help for the grieving and needy; pray to the Lord to give us Christian death and a good answer at the Last Judgment, so that we too may be worthy to glorify the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit with you forever and ever. Amen.

Sometimes some misfortune occurs in a person’s life, and then he turns to the powers of heaven, the Lord and the saints for help. One of these troubles can be imprisonment. People go to prison for crimes or on false charges. In such cases, the prayer to Anastasia the Pattern Maker can help, helping to liberate or strengthen the spirit.

Help from the Pattern Maker

Among the host of saints revered by the Orthodox Church, there is a remarkable saint, whose prayers helped resolve many legal disputes or drop false accusations. This saint is called Anastasia and is called the Pattern Maker. People turn to her who, by the ill will of fate, find themselves in the dock or are already serving time in prison.

She willingly comes to the aid of innocently convicted or slandered people and repentant criminals who have received a prison sentence. But this prayer can not only influence the trial, but also give spiritual strength and peace of mind, which are sometimes so lacking for defendants and their relatives. This was the case even during the life of the holy martyr.

Life of a saint

This pious girl was born in Rome, but in her family only her mother professed Christianity, and her father was an inveterate pagan, and the whole life of the future saint took place under the reign of the cruel emperor Diocletian, who was known as an ardent fighter against the followers of the new faith.

Contrary to her father’s beliefs, Anastasia was secretly raised in the Christian faith and piety, and the great ascetic and future saint, Chrysogon, helped her in this. It was he who taught her the Holy Scriptures and virtues.

Having matured a little, Anastasia began to dress in rags and, under the guise of a beggar, enter city prisons, in which many innocent Christians who suffered for their faith were imprisoned. She brought them food and water, bandaged their wounds and consoled them in every possible way, bringing the word of God to the suffering.

After the death of her mother, her father married the girl to a noble Roman, but in order not to violate her chastity and piety, the girl had to deceive her husband in order to avoid intimacy with him. After her marriage, the saint continued her feat and even intensified her efforts, fulfilling the Lord’s commandment to help her neighbors.

But then Anastasia’s father died, and her husband locked her at home. He mocked and tortured her in order to obtain a rich inheritance. Sometimes the torment was so severe that the girl prayed to the Lord to send her death, which she wrote to her teacher about. In response to this, Chrysogon encouraged her, answering that the Lord had a completely different purpose for her, and she would still serve Him.

And God did not abandon the virgin who trusted in his intercession. Anastasia’s husband was sent to Persia on duty, and on the way he died in a storm. The pious ascetic distributed her entire inheritance to the poor, and with the remaining funds she purchased medicine and food in order, as before, to help prisoners.

After the martyrdom of her teacher, Anastasia went to travel around the world, continuing her hard work, helping people who were imprisoned. But opponents of the Christian faith soon found out about the deeds of the righteous woman, and the girl was captured, later brought to trial before the Emperor. Having learned about the needs for which the wealth of her parents and husband was spent, Diocletian ordered the priests to force the girl to make a sacrifice to the pagan gods.

Having withstood all the tests with dignity, Anastasia chose death without betraying Christ, for which she was burned at the stake.

As during her glorious life, the saint continues to help those who turn to her for help in resolving legal cases and disputes.

Prayer to the Great Martyr

People who are facing a trial, as well as their relatives, can resort to the help of the saint. It especially helps those who have been slandered or convicted on false charges or mistakes. But it is important to know: if you have sin in your soul, you can’t count on help from higher powers. You cannot ask for the intercession of a saint, knowingly hiding your guilt in the hope of avoiding punishment.

The Lord has everything in sight, and such deceit can lead to more serious consequences even for relatives praying for criminals hiding from justice. First of all, sincere repentance is necessary.

If a person is confident that he is right and is convicted by mistake, this does not mean that repentance is not required from him. Even for minor sins, people are sent various sorrows, and the sooner a person pays attention to them, the less painful the consequences will be. After all, the Lord can knock on hardened hearts, sending grief and disappointment.

After repentance, sincere and pure, as far as possible, you need to take communion and try to pray more often. Any priest you can contact can help with this; he will recommend the necessary prayers and tell you how to read them correctly. Most likely, in such a situation, the priest will recommend the prayer to Anastasia the Pattern Maker as an ambulance in court cases.

This prayer should be sincere, honest and understandable to the reader. It is necessary to tune your mind in the right way and cleanse your heart from sinful thoughts, resentments and despondency. And the more often a person calls on the saint, the faster help will come in his need.

Prayer to Anastasia the Pattern Maker before the trial:

  • under investigation;
  • those serving a prison sentence;
  • slandered;
  • awaiting trial.

Even lawyers who are confident that their client is right and ask for a successful outcome of the case use this prayer.

You can resort to the help of a saint in prayer in any place, even if it is:

  • jail;
  • courtroom;
  • police station and so on.

Those who are at large, awaiting a verdict, completion of an investigation or trial, as well as relatives of the defendants, are advised to pray throughout the day at any opportunity, until the case is completed successfully. Prayer is said in the following places:

  • in the temple;
  • Houses;
  • At work;
  • on the way home or to work;
  • in any places where possible.

It is advisable to say the texts of prayers out loud or simply in a half-whisper. Preferably by heart. If you can’t learn it, you can print out the text and carry it with you always, so that if necessary, you can take a chance and say a prayer.

Help for those in prison

For those who are already serving their sentence, fair or not, as well as for repentant criminals, the prayer of St. Anastasia helps in overcoming the difficulties of punishment. During her life, she not only physically helped the suffering, but also nourished them with her faith and mercy. She freed not only from shackles, but also from the bonds of despair, despondency, sorrow and lack of faith, for which she was nicknamed the Pattern Maker.

It was this saint who helped those in prison not to go crazy, not to lose the last human virtues and to come to the realization of their sinfulness, to real repentance and purification. In such places, a person often realizes the seriousness of his life and begins to look at God’s mercy in a new way, learning to thank the Lord for everything and follow Him in everything, as Anastasia did during her life.

It’s not just the appearance of people who end up in prison that change. Their internal state turns upside down, the appearance of the soul changes. Over many years of serving as a priest in a maximum security colony, I learned to distinguish between those who sincerely repent and those who are disingenuous to you, it is unclear for what purpose. Now I see through their souls, bypassing the mortal shell of the human body, and I can say with confidence whose repentance is sincere and to whom the Lord really granted forgiveness.

This is especially noticeable when communicating with those sentenced to life imprisonment. They have time to think about their sins and sort out their souls. Many have realized their guilt and learned to repent, but they understand that they do not deserve forgiveness, which is why they repent even more. But I see some kind of grace on them, I feel that the Lord has forgiven them and accepted repentance, although for society these people will remain criminals until the very end.

And there is no explanation for my confidence that these are the people who will probably inherit the kingdom of heaven. Perhaps it is God’s gift to me to see this in them. Do not forget that the first to enter heaven was the thief, who sincerely repented on the cross and accepted Christ, confessing him as Lord!

But not all people who have broken the law and are in prison independently recognize the need for faith and a return to life in Christ. Many were helped in overcoming this path by the prayer of their relatives. After all, the best help for a person who finds himself in a difficult life situation is the prayer of his neighbors for him. And at the request of those who pray, many sorrows and sinful temptations are removed from the sufferer.

Intercession of Anastasia in other matters

Probably, many people believe that each saint is competent only in certain issues, and helps only in certain situations. But this opinion is wrong. Any saint, for example, when addressed in prayer to him, will help in court cases and other issues related to this topic. Likewise, the prayer of Saint Anastasia the Pattern-maker helps in many other matters, not only those related to prison terms or trials.

This saint is very revered among pregnant women. They believe that Anastasia will be able to save them from complications in pregnancy and help during childbirth. In their prayers they ask the saint for a healthy child. There are many known cases where only the miraculous help of the Pattern Maker helped mother and child avoid birth injuries.

They pray to Saint Anastasia, trusting in her help and intercession. They also resort to the miraculous help of the famous pious virgin in matters of marriage, when young girls are looking for a worthy groom. It is worth noting that this prayer has nothing to do with magical rituals, fortune telling and love spells. Such superstitions and the vain use of the words of prayer are a grave sin, the punishment for which will certainly befall a reckless person who uses them for other purposes.

Anastasia can also save you from unjustified anger from your superiors and punishment at work, for example, in the form of deprivation of a bonus or dismissal.

It is worth praying when you go to talk with your superiors, even if there is a fault, but it is important to be aware of your guilt and repent of it.

Even in their studies, the patron saint helps, especially for careless students who come to their senses on the eve of exams. But based on the well-known cases of help from the Great Martyr Anastasia, such would-be disciples not only receive what they ask for, they are given a wonderful opportunity to correct their plight.

Prayers of Thanksgiving

After receiving help, do not forget about the patron saints. You can pray at home, read prayers of thanksgiving, or order an akathist and prayer service to the holy great martyr in church. It will be very good if you can attend this service together with the clergy. Then the person will sincerely praise the Lord.

All necessary prayers can be found in special literature: akathists, prayer books or books describing the life of the saint.

All prayers to the Great Martyr Anastasia the Pattern Maker

Memory: December 22 / January 4

She was the daughter of a rich and noble Roman. With all her property she served the prisoners, among whom were many Christians. For her mercy and selfless service, the prisoners called her the Pattern Maker, i.e. "lightening the shackles." When they recognized her as a Christian, they subjected her to torture. They pray to the Holy Great Martyr for the easing of the bonds of those in captivity, for the conversion of those who are lost and who have fallen into serious crimes to Christ.
