Lesson progress

Knowledge update.
- Guys, look, here we have a carpet on the floor, there is also a carpet on the wall in the bedroom. Do you have carpets at home?

- What do you think, why do you need a carpet? (Answers of children). All of you are right.

Story and conversation about carpets.
An ancient man, when he came home to a cave, lay down on bare stones. The wind blew into the open cavern. The man was cold. But one day, returning from a hunt, he threw the skin on a stone, sat on it, and he felt warm. Then he hung the skin on the entrance to the cave, the wind stopped blowing. And the skins of animals began to be used as a decoration of the dwelling and as a place to sleep.
Man gradually developed, and his dwelling changed. Instead of skins, carpets were hung on the floor and on the walls. Over time, man invented threads, machines for knitting carpets. Carpets are made from animal hair, from threads.

In Russia, instead of carpets, self-woven paths were used, they were laid on floors, instead of bedspreads, on the floors. Women wove them from strips of fabric. Later, carpets began to be woven on looms, various patterns were embroidered by hand. Look at the beautiful carpets.

What shape are the carpets? (Rectangular, square, oval, curly).

Experimental activities of children.
Now let's find proof of my words. What are our houses made of? (Made of brick, stone).

— What is he like? (Cold, hard, hard). Is it nice to hold on to cold walls with your hands? Try carpet. What is he? (Warm, soft).

“Now sit down on a rock, is it comfortable?” Let's lay down the carpet. Is it comfortable now? Heat? So why do we have carpet at home?

Fizkultminutka.
- Guys, do you clean the carpet at home? How? And let's imagine how to clean the carpet.

The rug served us for a long time,
Dusty, sad.
We'll roll it up first
And let's go outside.
There we will hang and straighten,
Let's beat with a beater
Let's leave it hanging
And we'll bring it back.

- Well, they knocked out the carpet, and now we will return to the group. What do you think, do we need carpets in our doll house? And if we make a carpet for them, will they be pleased?

Conversation about the rules of composition.
- Now we will make carpets for our house. But first, let's remember the rules of composition. The drawing comes from the center, in the center is the main image. And along the edge of the carpet there is a border. What can be used to make a border? (From paper, ribbons).

- Choose your border. You have already created your pencil sketch, now paste the pencil drawing. Patterns can be different, but remember that all colors should be different, you need to take contrasting colors. If the background is yellow, do not use yellow for the pattern. Patterns can be geometric, herbal, floral, plot. The pattern in the center is the largest, and the main one departs from it. See what materials we have, what can we make a pattern from? (Flagella, balls, sequins, beads, paper).

- Imagine that you are in a weaving factory and have to create a beautiful carpet yourself. Think about what materials you will take, where to start. Get started. But first, so that our hands do not get tired, we will stretch them.

Finger gymnastics.
This finger is the strongest, thickest and largest,
This finger is for showing it.
This finger is the longest and it stands in the middle,
This finger is nameless, he is the most spoiled.
And the little finger, although small, is very dexterous and daring.

Independent work of children.

(Children choose the necessary materials on their own. Throughout the work, they can approach the table and take any material).

Summarizing.

“Now show me your rug.” What materials is it made from? What patterns are drawn? All of you are great, the dolls really liked your carpets.

(During the role-playing game, the received products are played.)

Carpets are needed in almost every interior. On sale there are woven. And what about the real, pile? Haven't seen this for sale? But it is quite possible to do it yourself.

Difficulty level: difficult

Is it possible to make a miniature pile carpet with your own hands?

Used tools and materials:

  • Fabric of uniform weaving (approximately 13-15 threads per 1 cm)
  • floss threads
  • needle for beads
  • syringe needle
  • adhesive edge
  • thin adhesive pad
  • pattern scheme
  • scissors

I have long wanted to make a carpet for a miniature house. Real, pile. How I was tormented by this question, beyond words!

Is it even possible to make a pile carpet in 1:12 scale with your own hands, at home? After many experiments, which ended with the manufacture of a real carpet, I can say - yes, quite!

Selection of materials

We will do it by embroidery, not by weaving, since I don’t have a carpet loom (I don’t know about you). So, you need a base fabric on which we will embroider. My fabric has 13 threads per 1 cm. This means that there will be 169 loops-villi per 1 cm2.

And one more thing - the fabric should be dense enough so that the pile holds well in it. But also threads to make it easy to count. Our technology will be countable.

It is highly desirable that both the weft and the warp have the same number of threads, like canvas. But if this is not found, with a stretch, you can use another.

But the pattern in this case must be strictly geometric. Otherwise, pictorial, non-geometric motifs will have ugly distortions.

A drawing, a diagram can be taken for cross-stitching. Choose to make the pattern look like a traditional carpet pattern.

You can download the pattern for carpet embroidery. Well, or maybe you have some kind of your own, special idea.

Threads will use cotton floss. They are available, colors - whatever you want. And they are comfortable to work with.

There is one trick to choosing colors. In the finished work, the colors will look darker and brighter than the color of the thread in the skein. It's like in velvet - you can see the end, the cut of the thread.

Edge processing

We figured out the fabric, the threads and the pattern too. So get to work! I highly recommend doing a few trial samples before getting started. The technique is unusual, it may not work on the go.

Immediately cut out a piece of fabric of the desired size, taking into account the fringe. Yes, seven times count the number of threads along and across, referring to the diagram. Check again. From the sides, add 3 threads to the edge of the edge.

Finally check the number of threads, cut. Pull up the fringe. Now we need to overcast the edges. This must be done with adhesive tape. There is such a material for tailoring, to strengthen the sides. And it is sold where all the materials for sewing are. We need a very thin and delicate.

Glue the edges with this edge. Grab 3 threads from the face, a little more from the inside, and the fold so that it falls on the end of the fabric. Seal with an iron, as if to seal.

Helpful Hint: Never stretch the adhesive edge, otherwise it will pull the fabric. Also glue under the fringe, only from the inside.

Everything, you can overcast the edges and fix the fringe. There is nothing difficult in this. Overcast obliquely, in two threads.

Preparing for embroidery

Now, guided by the scheme, we mark the fabric with a pencil. so as not to get confused, where is the center, where is the border, where are the places of the main motives. But remember that the villi will fall in the gaps between the threads.

Useful advice: to speed up the work, you can use a needle from a syringe. You know, there is a tool for embroidering "large" products in the pile technique. For our task, it is very large. A needle from a syringe can successfully replace it

What? Do you know how to thread a needle from a syringe? I use monofilament for this. She is tough and thin. It is necessary to fold it with a loop, insert the two ends into the needle, release them from the other side. Thread the floss into this loop and pull it through the needle.

Useful advice: using a needle from a syringe, it is good to embroider solid planes filled with one color. And for small multi-colored elements, a needle for beads is still better.

Everything, with the preparations finished. You can start embroidering. Attached is a diagram of this technique. I think you'll figure it out.

Embroidery

We start embroidery. Just no knots! Bring the ponytails to the face, they will also be a pile. Do not make large broaches on the wrong side.

It turns out real "jungle" of threads. How not to get confused! The pattern is not visible at all. Yes, this is the most difficult thing in this technique - not to get confused! Remember, I said: "Practice before you take on the main job."

Hope you get used to it. Pushing the loops with your finger, referring to the diagram, slowly embroider.

Pile haircut

You have already embroidered one motif. I really want to cut it, see what happens! I understand, I understand, but it's better to wait. It has been verified from my own experience: the larger the plane you cut, the smoother it turns out.

And pushing long loops is much easier than short villi. In any case, the fragment that you are going to cut must necessarily have a rectangular shape.

And how to cut something? And how much? You need to cut with sharp scissors (blunt is better not to try). Do not cut immediately, but trim gradually.

We select the length of the pile empirically. If the pile is too long, the pattern looks fuzzy. And if it is too short, gaps are visible and the pile does not hold well. I have a pile length somewhere 1 ... 1.5 mm.

Backside processing

I hope you all embroidered and trimmed well. And they didn't quit the job. It's all? Not really. You also need to think about the outside. If you are making a carpet for a specific interior, you can immediately glue it to its "rightful" place. And if not?

We cut out a piece from the adhesive pad 1 ... 2 mm smaller than the carpet (so that it does not crawl out from the sides).

Helpful Hint: In order not to crush the pile of the carpet, place it face down on a piece of velvet. Gently apply adhesive on top. And glue with a hot iron with steam.

Instead of an afterword: about the expenditure of time and the consumption of threads

Everything is ready!!! And it turned out great, I think. I am posting a photo of a fragment of the carpet for everyone to see. that the pile is real. Many, probably, are concerned about the question, but how long will it take for this miniature masterpiece?

I’ll tell you a secret: it took me 40 minutes to make 1 cm2. But this is without taking into account the preparation, cutting and sizing. So you can roughly calculate the time it takes to make your miniature carpet.

What to do - embroidery in general is a laborious, painstaking thing. And embroidery on a scale of 1:12 is even more so. But the result is worth it.

I also want to talk about thread consumption. A lot goes to waste. It took me approximately 3.2 meters per 1 cm2.

So keep it up. Miniature pile carpet - in every miniature house!

Carpet ready

In this simple master class, we propose to knit an elegant rug for a dollhouse. Treat your little one (daughter, granddaughter, niece...) because little girls love all sorts of cute things for dolls. What's a dollhouse without a rug?

We will crochet a rug for a doll house. We take out the leftovers from the bins. It will need quite a bit. If the thickness of the yarn is different, then it does not matter. It is only necessary that the chosen colors of the pattern are in harmony with the existing doll furniture.

The proposed model of the carpet is crocheted of wool in three bright colors: white, red and yellow.

First, we crochet small rectangles according to scheme No. 1. In total, we will need to knit four white, four red and one yellow fragments.

Scheme 1

We lay out the rectangles, as shown in diagram No. 2. After that, we connect the fragments with a crochet hook using a yellow thread.

Scheme 2

We tie the rug like this:

1st p. - yellow, columns;

2nd p. - white, double crochets;

3rd r. - in red, bars.

At the corners, you need to add 2 loops so that the rug has rounded edges and does not wrap. To give knitting a prettier look, it should be slightly steamed. Our knitted doll rug is ready!

Any room will become much warmer and more comfortable if you lay a beautiful, soft, thick carpet on the floor.

Doll mats in different sizes.

I have a sea of rugs for a doll house (well, almost a sea - several dozen). :-) I bought them long before the DeAgostini Dream House collection started. Then I knew almost nothing about doll miniatures, but I always really wanted to decorate the dollhouse with rugs.

They were bought in the States at an auction, the seller was not from America, but it seems from Turkey. Moreover, it cost a penny, three dozen rugs (they are of different sizes, a third are quite large) cost in terms of rubles in the amount of about 1000 rubles (the year is approximately 2010-2011.

Now it turned out that DeAgostini in the House of Dreams in one of the rooms gave out the same rug, but only one!

The pattern on the carpets is exactly like on the real ones, on the reverse side you can see the woven base - the interweaving of the finest threads. I would like the rug not to be made of synthetics, of course, but then the threads would be many times thicker, and it would be impossible to achieve such a detailed pattern.

They look amazing in the doll house.

Good May day everyone! Probably already forgotten me? I show up once a month... I'm to blame, I'm lazy... I'm too lazy to write, but not to create. You know how long it takes to write a post, but I miss it soooo much, and you also need to take a picture of the fruits of labor, process, upload and all that. In general, I do everything and put it together, but there’s no way to show you ... But today I decided, otherwise all my cookies will scatter)))
I've been playing around a little with crosses, here's what happened
Four full-fledged carpets for the dollhouse and a bunch of pillows for the same purposes.
Tatyana (Bukfa) hello, some of these rugs are made of your threads, thanks a lot, you see how useful

The size of the rugs is almost the same for everyone, on average 18 * 15 cm (+ - cm.)

Only a small beige is embroidered for a new house in 1:24 scale

(well, you'll find out soon enough)

Pillows are embroidered in pairs, there is a micro-cross, there is a regular one.

One in a marine style, two shabby, two with cupcakes - very tasty))), a couple more with vintage roses

.

.

A little about rugs.

All of them, except for beige, are embroidered with a tapestry stitch, beige with a full cross.

The base is glued with a thin interlining, I crocheted the edges, everything is neatly hidden and does not fray.

How is the process of creating a miniature rug?

It takes me a week or two to embroider one carpet, it all depends on the complexity of the pattern and the number of colors, and also, if there are a lot of single crosses, then the work becomes even more complicated.

Like with this Victorian rug...

Many shades and "loners", but the more colors, the more colorful and voluminous the pattern turns out, making the carpet a small masterpiece.

The selection of threads occurs gradually. First, I select the main color for the carpet and figure out the rest.

But in the process of embroidery, it often happens that the selected shade does not fit or does not suit me, that's when creativity begins)))

Sometimes I do "blends" (mixing colors) to achieve what I want.

For example, this chic burgundy carpet.

Red should not be vulgar bright or gloomy dark, it should be noble. And the light background should not be bright yellow or white, even the slightest mistake in the shade gives an unhappy result.

Therefore, I select threads only in natural daylight, and I only embroider in it)))

.

.

.

For carpet embroidery, I do not use a hoop, but sew the canvas to a cardboard frame. So the pattern is not deformed during sewing and the embroidery does not wrinkle, as in the hoop. I make a separate frame for each carpet, depending on the size. embroidery.

This is what it looks like (one of the past processes) ...

Another one of the new rugs... Turquoise with flower garlands.

The scheme is quite popular and often found on the net, but it is already of very poor quality, therefore, for the convenience of the embroidery process, I had to retype it (each cell) in a special program for creating PM schemes.

However, the previous schemes are also recreated by hand (each symbol, each cross). That is, before I embroider, I work out the scheme cell by cell. Let's just say, I'm dating)))

At this stage, you can tweak the scheme to your taste, which I do very often)))

.

For example, this beige rug was redone and finalized (though already in the process of embroidery). I added some flowers and dots)))

.

And the next small one is embroidered according to the scheme that I created from scratch.

I needed a certain size and pattern, so I had to create it myself ...

This rug is for a new house that is almost finished.
