In addition, the plant promotes wound healing and speeds up the recovery process after surgery.

Today, there are various ways to strengthen the immune system. So, herbs to increase immunity in adults are highly effective and are widely used for the preparation of medicines at home.

The immune system is a complex mechanism, which includes such "details" as the lymph nodes, bone marrow, thymus gland and spleen. Vessels connect each node into a single whole, creating a reliable shield that reacts to the encroachments of microorganisms, stress and overwork. If the protection weakens, then even a cold can make a huge gap in the system.

How to determine the decrease in immunity?

Taking decoctions and infusions of medicinal plants can be an excellent solution to the question of how to increase the functionality of the immune system. But even such safe medicines need to be taken only when the body needs them. The following symptoms will indicate a decrease in immunity:

  • the frequency of colds increases up to 4-5 times a year;
  • tonsils become inflamed, abscesses and boils appear on the body;
  • there is subfebrile body temperature in the range of 37-37.2 ° C;
  • drowsiness, fatigue, aching joints are felt;
  • there are disturbances in the work of the gastrointestinal tract;
  • herpes rash appears.

Most often, the appearance of symptoms of a decrease in immunity is associated with a lack of vitamins in the diet, the occurrence of dysbacteriosis (disturbances in the intestinal microflora) due to malnutrition or the use of antibiotics, physical overwork and stress.

The immune system gives a signal that the built-up protective barrier is broken and access to the body for viruses and bacteria is open. If you do not take urgent measures to raise immunity, the risk of developing chronic diseases and complications is very high.

Types of immune system disorders

In modern medicine, immunodeficiencies are divided into 2 main types:

  • primary (congenital, or genetically determined);
  • secondary (acquired).

Primary immunodeficiencies usually manifest themselves in childhood and consist in the lack of one of the links of the protective barrier. Depending on the localization and level of disturbance, there are humoral, cellular, associated with the complement system, a defect in phagocytes, etc.

Secondary immunodeficiencies are not associated with genetic defects. Against the background of the normal functioning of the immune system, they can occur due to the influence of negative factors. They can become:

  • helminthiasis;
  • viral and bacterial infections;
  • protozoan invasions (chlamydia, toxoplasmosis, giardiasis, etc.);
  • acute (measles, influenza, herpes, hepatitis, etc.) and chronic (cytomegalovirus, AIDS, hepatitis C, etc.) pathologies;
  • intoxication with toxic substances and much more.

For the treatment of primary or secondary immunodeficiency, you will need to use herbs that increase immunity:

  • horsetail, mountaineer, clover, barberry, black elderberry, anise, St. John's wort and other plants containing polyphenols, zinc and silicic acids (with a lack of phagocytes);
  • calendula, stinging nettle, chickweed, beets (for violations at the cellular level);
  • sage, astragalus, birch leaf, rhodiola rosea, goldenrod and lure (with insufficient production of immune cells);
  • oats, succession, eleutherococcus, Baikal skullcap and euonymus (to enhance antibody production).

At the same time, it should be remembered that violation of the dosage threatens with serious consequences: decoctions and infusions of herbs that increase immunity will begin to suppress it. Herbs such as mistletoe, milky white iris, and yellow pod should be taken with extreme caution.

Immunity boosters are valued for their medicinal properties and ability to restore the protective functions of the body. Let's look at what herbs are to increase immunity, how to brew them and when to take them.

Herbs to boost immunity- These are effective herbal remedies that strengthen the immune system and take care of the performance of all body functions. But most importantly, medicinal herbs are absolutely safe for the body, both children and adults. The most effective herbs for strengthening the immune system are: ginseng, echinacea, dandelion, garlic, celandine, St. John's wort, red clover and others.

The immune system is a protective barrier that protects us from harmful substances produced in the body or coming from outside. The immune system produces immunocompetent cells, that is, plasmocides, lymphocytes and antibodies, which are biologically active substances that recognize and destroy antigens, fungi, bacteria, viruses, chemicals, and so on. It is low immunity, that is, a weak immune system, that is the cause of frequent diseases in both adults and children.

What herbs boost immunity

What herbs boost immunity? How to take them correctly and most importantly, when to support and stimulate the immune system with herbs. Let's look at the most popular herbs that increase immunity.

Ginseng This plant has been used for a long time to support the immune system. Ginseng is a plant that is rich in dopamine (the hormone of happiness and pleasure). The plant enhances the protective functions of the body, increases efficiency and good mood. Very often, ginseng is used as the main component of various drugs, immunostimulants and tonics.

As a rule, in the off-season, many are faced with one eternal problem - a weakening of the immune system. To improve immunity, we are looking for expensive drugs that are absolutely not worth spending that kind of money on. It is much more useful to drink an infusion of herbs than to swallow a pill and wait for the weather by the sea.

It is natural medicinal herbs that can become an alternative replacement for expensive drugs, from which there is more harm than good. Don't believe? Then pick up a pack of any remedy that enhances immunity (even in ampoules for intravenous administration, even in tablets and syrups). What is written in the instructions of a pharmaceutical product in the column "Composition"? For example, this is: echinacea purple herb (Echinacea purpurea (L.) Moench) dried juice (80 mg); excipients: colloidal silicon dioxide; lactose; magnesium stearate; sodium saccharin; vanillin; cherry flavor.

In other words, in addition to the extract of echinacea purpurea, we will get a whole chemical bouquet of “side” components that will also enter our body. In addition, from a number of articles published on our website (A person and a medicine or a pill from life), we already know that even in the same vitamins, medicines, tablets there is a lot of talc, dyes and flavors that give the tablet a color and an attractive appearance. . Why do we need these surpluses? That's right - not needed! It is much more profitable, cheaper and more useful to buy herbal preparations to increase immunity than to eat pills washed down with water.

3. How often can you use healing infusions, teas and drinks

To accomplish the task, namely to find the best herbs with an immunomodulatory effect, it is worthwhile to find out in advance what is their peculiarity.

Everything is extremely simple. It is important for us to bring together such plant components that have a beneficial effect, first of all, on all metabolic processes in the body. Thanks to this, every cell of any organ is updated faster and receives all the necessary substances. As a result, we increase the overall tone and, as a result, increase the protective properties, i.e. the body's resistance, which at the right time will be able to quickly respond to what is happening. Secondly, we must neutralize the deficiency of some substances. The most necessary, but "rare" substances and trace elements that are found in very small quantities in food are: calcium, potassium, selenium, manganese, zinc, molybdenum, silver, cobalt, iron, aluminum, magnesium, vanadium, barium, beryllium, nickel and others. Therefore, in an osprey with medicinal herbs, it is necessary to review your diet and eat right, switching to a balanced diet. Thirdly, it would be nice to cleanse the body. Various teas help a lot with this, the composition of which we will talk about a little later.

And so, let's summarize all of the above. We select such plants, which include:

1. Polysaccharides - “are one of the main sources of energy resulting from the metabolism of the body.

They take part in immune processes, provide adhesion of cells in tissues, and are the bulk of organic matter in the biosphere. (source "Wikipedia")

In other words, polysaccharides are vital to our entire body, because they take an active part in the metabolic process.

Plants containing monosaccharides include: purple echinacea, chokeberry, large plantain, astragalus, flax, marshmallow, coltsfoot, common mullein, sugar kelp, etc.

2. Silicon is a powerful source of growth

Some plants actively accumulate silicon, which is involved in all life-supporting processes, after which it is naturally excreted from the body. And if its level in the body remains low and is not replenished over time through food and water, then this creates favorable conditions for the development and progression of vascular diseases, atherosclerosis. In other words, stroke and heart attack are a direct consequence of silicon deficiency in the body. With age, the amount of silicon decreases and this leads to cell aging, which is why older people are often prescribed infusions and preparations with a high content of silicon components. In addition, silicon lowers blood cholesterol, which is why there are few diabetics among avid vegans.

To strengthen the immune system, it is necessary to establish all the mechanisms of life-supporting processes, therefore, plants containing silicon are also especially important for us. These include all families of conifers, horsetails and ferns: nettle, mountaineer, clover, horsetail, lungwort, burdock, horse sorrel, sage, etc. Especially a lot of silicon in plants containing a lot of fiber.

Participates in the process of cell renewal, which has a beneficial effect on the state of the largest human organ - the skin! Prevents the appearance of early wrinkles, reduces the risk of development and progression of allergic reactions, fights acne, moisturizes and nourishes the skin, regulates the sebaceous glands, etc. Zinc is added to many cosmetic products to reduce the risk of developing an allergy to individual components included in the composition, as well as to “nutritional” (i.e. fatty) components penetrate the skin faster and moisturize, soften it, because zinc penetrates very quickly into skin and interacts well with it.

Plants containing zinc include: fig tree, birch, sage, cassia, adonis, aconite, lemon balm, ginger, watch, raspberry, alder, ginseng, rosea rhodiola, etc.

But among all this diversity, there are several herbs and plants that improve the condition of our body as quickly as possible. Therefore, we bring to your attention several herbs that increase immunity!

Top 5 Herbs to Boost Immunity

St. John's wort

The first place is occupied by the plant St. John's wort, which is also called a cure for 100 diseases. And indeed it is! This plant is rich in a large number of vitamins and microelements that most effectively fight a large number of diseases: bone tuberculosis, dysentery, enteritis, chronic gastritis, colitis, chronic pyelonephritis, functional diarrhea, catarrhal sore throat, trophic ulcer, stomatitis, burns, periodontal disease, gingivitis, simple vaginitis, chronic or purulent otitis, acne, mastitis, anemia, jaundice, hemorrhoids, migraine, cough, hypertension.

Soldiers were given tea or tincture of St. John's wort so that they could withstand the longest possible campaigns and be able to endure difficult conditions during hostilities. In Russia, before drinking water from an unknown source, a sprig of St. John's wort was thrown into the water so as not to become infected with dysentery, and those who feared the evil eye wore a sprig of St. John's wort with them under a shirt or under a headdress. Of course, we will not wear a sprig of St. John's wort under a hat, but preparing infusions and teas with St. John's wort is a good deed!

Echinacea purpurea

The second place is occupied by echinacea purpurea, which may well replace St. John's wort, because it has no less "bouquet" of useful properties. Very often it is found as part of numerous means to maintain and strengthen the immune system, for example, echinacea is the basis of such a drug as Immunal. Not one drug collection is complete without this herb. It is understandable, because echinacea is a natural natural antibiotic that can destroy some viruses and bacteria that cause influenza, stomatitis, herpes, E. coli, staphylococci and streptococci. This is one of the best herbs for boosting immunity.

Ginger root

Not only useful, but also very tasty. It has a pronounced peppercorn, leaving behind a burning aftertaste. It is thanks to gingerol that ginger has its unique burning taste. It contains a lot of substances necessary for the normal functioning of the whole organism: magnesium, phosphorus, sodium, silicon, potassium, manganese, calcium and a number of others. Ginger is also low in calories, so it is often added to various diet dishes. In addition, it normalizes all the processes of the digestive system, which is why all dishes with ginger are much easier to digest. But this plant deserved to take third place also because it is actively used in the treatment of various colds. If you get a little sick, catch a cold and notice the first signs of a cold - prepare yourself a warming drink with ginger, which not only soothes a sore throat, but also has a warming property. Ginger root copes well with pathogenic bacteria, prevents the development of viral diseases and has an anti-inflammatory effect, and this, in turn, helps to strengthen weakened immunity.

Rose hip

Rosehip decoctions and infusions are used for various purposes, since the fruits of the plant have a number of useful properties that help cleanse the circulatory system, improve metabolism, and increase the body's resistance to infectious diseases. It is also used as a general tonic vitamin remedy, which is rich in organic acids. Rosehip contains a large number of minerals, among which are: potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, copper, manganese, chromium, molybdenum, cobalt and many vitamins B1, B2, B6, K, E, PP, C. Also there are tannins, dyes, carotene, riboflavin, citric and malic acids, sugar, phytoncides, essential oils. All these substances, which are part of the dog rose, make it an indispensable assistant in the fight against numerous colds, they resort to its help with anemia, scurvy, with diseases of the kidneys and bladder and liver.

Since ancient times, aloe juice and leaves have been used for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes. On the basis of aloe juice extract, numerous cosmetic products are made that have antiseptic and anti-allergic properties. Aloe perfectly softens, nourishes the skin, making it supple, elastic and velvety. With excellent bactericidal properties, aloe vera is actively used against streptococcus, staphylococcus, diphtheria and dysenteric bacillus. The plant helps with radiation and numerous inflammatory diseases, accelerates the process of regeneration and healing of damaged tissues. Aloe vera accelerates the healing and contraction of wounds, while at the same time disinfecting the affected area. In addition, aloe is also an excellent immunomodulator that contributes to the overall improvement of the body. In small doses or as part of other means, it improves digestion and enhances bile secretion.

Collection of herbs and tea drinks to boost immunity

Ginger lemon drink

Usually in the fall or at the end of winter I prepare a very healthy drink, which is an excellent prophylactic to get rid of colds. Even if I get a little sick, I will definitely brew such a drink. This recipe was shared with me by a friend who has been drinking this drink for a long time and has never had serious colds during the winter. I followed her advice, checking, so to speak, the effect of the drink on myself.

For him you will need:

Ginger root

In a separate container (it is better to use a small jar with a tight lid), add the zest and juice of 1 lemon. To get a lot of lemon juice, put a whole lemon in the microwave for 30 seconds. After this procedure, notice how much more juice will be. It is best to grind the lemon zest and the remnants of the pulp in a blender and mix everything.

Then add 1 tablespoon of honey (I prefer buckwheat honey) and a small piece of ginger crushed in a blender. Mix all ingredients thoroughly and refrigerate for 30-40 minutes. After that, ginger-lemon honey can be added to tea instead of sugar and drink a delicious, warming drink that is suitable for everyone, without exception, even adults, even children.

As a result, we get an immunostimulating, tonic and restorative agent.

To enhance the immunostimulating effect, I like to add half a teaspoon of honey mixture to the rosehip and raspberry decoction.

Collection of herbs №1

Based on the herbs listed below, you can prepare a decoction and drink it as a healing tea or prepare an infusion in a ratio of 1:10 and add honey to it (1 tablespoon per 200 ml of infusion).

Roots of dried and crushed Manchurian aralia

Crushed blood red hawthorn fruit

Crushed brown rose hips

flowers of calendula officinalis

Plantain leaves

Aronia fruits

Grass succession tripartite

For 1 liter of water I take about 50 grams of chopped dry herbal mixture (the weight of 1 tablespoon of dry, chopped herbs is about 10 grams). Moreover, if I don’t really like some of the herbs, for example, I don’t really like the smell of some kind of herb, then I can take a smaller amount of it.

How do I make a decoction or infusion of herbs? I pour the required amount of dry chopped herbs into a thermos, pour it with slightly cooled boiling water (after boiling, I wait about 10 minutes), tightly close the lid and insist the grass in a thermos for about 15-20 minutes. Then I filter and the finished broth is either poured back into a thermos, adding honey to drink it warm, or I cool it and drink it cold.

Collection of herbs №2

sea buckthorn leaves

black currant leaves

Leaves and fruits of strawberry

Echinacea herb

Dog-rose fruit

Hypericum herb

All herbs can be finely chopped in a blender, wrap them in a clean sterile gauze, tightly bandage and put in a teapot for brewing tea (I take half a teaspoon of each of the herbs for 1 liter of boiling water, but I add a little less echinacea, because echinacea is a strong allergen, be be careful with this weed). Then I fill everything with slightly cooled boiling water. I insist 15 minutes and drink like regular tea without sugar.

Another important point. If you can’t drink tea without sugar, then add crushed stevia leaves, which is a natural sugar-free sugar substitute, to the herbal mixture. By adding stevia to any decoction or tea, we get a sweetish drink that is much healthier than any drink that has added sugar. Therefore, this herb can be safely used by literally everyone, without exception, especially diabetics.

This collection of herbs not only enhances and strengthens the immune system, but also has a calming effect that has a beneficial effect on the entire body as a whole.

How often can you use healing infusions, teas and drinks
All of the above recipes are the most effective. They are tested on my own skin, for I often prepare them myself, but like any healing, medicinal products, they should not be overly abused.

Usually, the prophylactic course lasts about two weeks, with colds or after an illness, I increase the time to 1 month (about 3-4 weeks). I drink 1-2 glasses a day. If the collection of herbs has a calming effect, then it is best to use it in the evening, before going to bed. So sleep will be good and improve your health.

After a little treatment, it is advisable to take a break of at least 1-2 months (preferably up to 3 months).

And most importantly, before experimenting on your health, be sure to consult a doctor!

Be healthy, beautiful and happy!
