The perfect itinerary for Europe. Independent travel in Europe

  • 12.10.2020

The first month of summer is coming to an end and you still haven't decided how to spend your vacation? Want to go to Europe, but plane ticket prices are increasingly like the cost of traveling on a space shuttle? Does the thought of visiting several countries terrify you at all? Do not despair! There are ways now to organize a rich and interesting vacation in Europe, combining an excursion program and a beach, without spending a fortune on it.

Let's start with the most necessary - air tickets. Let's plan a vacation for the second half of July and see how much a combined independent tour for two weeks for two with a departure from Moscow will cost us. And also - how and on what we can save, while almost without denying ourselves anything.

HOW TO BOOK AND SEARCH FOR CHEAP TICKETS

Since we do not start booking air tickets at all in advance, all popular beach and tourist routes are already hitting the pocket. For example, only a flight on our dates on the route Moscow-Tivat-Moscow will cost at least 42,000 rubles for two, and you can fly to Croatian Pula for almost 60,000 rubles.

GETTING READY FOR VACATION

What to do? Everything is simple! Get rid of the idea that the direct route is the easiest, and transfers are just a waste of time and effort. Of the majority of transplants, it is not only possible, but also necessary to make an interesting and pleasant vacation.

1. We are looking for tickets from Moscow in search engines that allow you to leave the “where” field blank or mark “everywhere”.
2. We choose direct flights to European destinations with the cheapest tickets.
3. Of these, we choose a direction with a large city or a large aviation hub, as a rule, there are many very inexpensive flights from such cities.
4. Now we set the city where we found convenient tickets from Moscow as the point of departure, and again select the point "everywhere" as the purpose of arrival.
5. Evaluate the results. If there are inexpensive and interesting flight directions for you, then the city for the first stop was chosen correctly.

BOOKING OF AIR TICKETS. EXAMPLE.

1. Moscow - "everywhere". There, Saturday, July 16th. Return Sunday, July 31st.
2. From European countries, the most profitable tickets for these dates are Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary and Estonia. Their cost is from 8 to 12 thousand rubles.
3. For our first stop, we chose Budapest (Hungary), the cost of one ticket Moscow-Budapest-Moscow is 11,000 rubles.

Why Budapest?

Of all the proposed destinations, Riga and Budapest are suitable for the role of a transshipment hub. We chose Budapest. It really doesn't take long to check routes and fares from several European cities, and the list of low-cost flights from the Russian capital is usually limited.

Budapest is an insanely beautiful and interesting city with a rich imperial history, luxurious cuisine and very reasonable prices for hotels and meals.

WARNING: If you have no idea about the price level in the country or city that you want to choose as your "European departure point", be sure to spend a few minutes searching for a hotel before booking a plane ticket.

So, Munich or Vienna often turn out to be very profitable destinations for a flight, but you need to spend a lot of time searching for an inexpensive hotel here. Public transport and food will also cost a pretty penny. These are beautiful cities, but savings will not work with them.

Budapest. What's next?

We planned three days for Budapest: July 16, 17 and 18, and on July 19 we would like to go further.

We arrive in the capital of Hungary in the morning, so we can safely assume that we have three full days to explore the city. For a European capital, hotels in Budapest are inexpensive. In the city center for our dates you can book apartments from 80 euros for the entire stay. But still, most quality offers start from 120 euros. The lowest price we found for a separate apartment near the center is 55 euros. By ordering an apartment, we can save on food in restaurants and get a large living area, usually from 30 to 60 square meters. meters. We will calculate that we will give 120 euros for housing in Budapest.

If for some reason apartments scare you, then by paying 30 euros for the whole time, you can easily find a hotel in the central part of the city. We will lay another 150 euros for food, 50 for transport and excursions, 40 for the famous Hungarian baths. This should be enough for one dinner in a restaurant with wine, and the rest of the time we eat at home and in small cafes.

The cost of visiting the Gellert bathhouse for two is 38 euros, and the Rudas bathhouse (where the scenes of the film “Red Heat” were filmed) is about 20 euros.

Budapest. What to watch.

Budapest is located on two sides of the Danube, on the east - Buda, on the west - Pest. Both banks are connected by many bridges, which offer views of the Danube and the city.

  1. Royal Palace and Fortress Hill. The first official royal residence appeared here in the middle of the 13th century. The Hungarian National Gallery, the Budapest Historical Museum and the State Library. Széchenyi.
  2. The building of the Hungarian Parliament. It was built after the unification of the cities of Buda and Pest at the end of the 19th century. It stands right on the banks of the Danube.
  3. Fisherman's Bastion. Located on the Buda Hill. From here you have fantastic views of the city. Despite the fact that the fisherman's bastion was built at the beginning of the 20th century, it has something of the Cinderella's castle, but with a Hungarian flavor.
  4. Walks along the Danube.
  5. Mount Gellert is named after the Catholic saint Gerard of Hungary. At the foot of the mountain you can observe a waterfall, and at the top is the Citadel, built in the middle of the 19th century.
  6. Baths of Budapest: Gellert, Rudash, Chasar, Kiraly, Rats and others. In total, there are 27 baths in Budapest, 13 of them are therapeutic. Most of the baths are quite old with marble finishes and tiles.

Price

So, we consider:

2. Transfers, accommodation, meals ≈ 22,000 rubles
3. Excursions and entertainment ≈ 5000 rubles

TOTAL: ≈ 49,000 rubles

Minimum cost:

1. Flight. 11000x2 = 22000 rubles
2. Transfers, accommodation, meals ≈ 9,000 rubles
3. Excursions and entertainment ≈ 2000 rubles

TOTAL: ≈ 34,000 rubles

Budapest - Milan: moving on

Milan turned out to be the most profitable destination for a flight from Budapest to the south of Europe. The city is not cheap, but interesting. In addition, there are many flights from there to southern, southeastern and southwestern Europe. Italy also has a well-developed rail network. And shopping in Milan has not been canceled.

Milan. What to watch.

1. The Duomo Cathedral is beautiful both during the day and at night.
2. Observation platform on the roof of the Duomo.
3. The Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie and the fresco "Last Vespers" by Leonardo da Vinci. It is better to buy a ticket here in advance. For the summer months for a few days or weeks online.
4. Pinacoteca Ambrosian, where you can see the masterpieces of Caravaggio, Raphael and Titian.

When booking the following flight legs, you should remember:

1. Time and dates of departures.

  1. The departure time from Budapest to Moscow is morning, and therefore it is better not to risk it and fly to Budapest the day before, that is, on July 30th.

2. Airports of departure and arrival. Relevant for cities with multiple airports, such as Milan or Moscow.

A flight on the route Budapest-Milan-Budapest costs us 7600 rubles for two. Departure there - July 19 morning. Back - July 30 in the afternoon. Although the morning flight is a little cheaper, we will try to connect our transfers so that on the way back we can do without spending the night in Milan.

  1. Transfer: Airport-Milan-Airport - 20-40 euros (depending on the airport), that is, an average of 2000 rubles for two.

Transfer from Bergamo is cheaper, so if you do not plan flights from Malpensa on the same day, choose Bergamo Airport.

  1. Flight ≈ 100 euros (7600 rubles)
  2. Accommodation in Milan, two nights ≈ 90 euros.
  3. Transfer ≈ 30 euros.
  4. Meals and transport in the city: ≈ 70 euros.
  5. Excursions ≈ 70 euros.

Total: ≈ 26,000 rubles.

Minimum cost: ≈ 22,000 rubles.

You can save about 60 euros on accommodation and meals, that is, a little more than 4,000 rubles, and refuse excursions.

IMPORTANT: Taxis are very expensive in Milan, so it is better to book morning or afternoon flights to use public transport.

Routes from Milan

Milan is a large aviation and railway hub, so you can plan many routes from here, differing in price, duration and complexity of organization. We will consider a few, the most simple and inexpensive.

Milan is the sea. The easiest route.

The most inexpensive and easiest to organize is the Milan-Pescara-Milan flight. For two, a flight along this route will cost 4,500 rubles. We will not need additional transfers from / to the airport, since we will arrive from Pescara and fly to Budapest on the same day - Bergamo Airport.

Pescara airport is only three kilometers from the city, and a bus transfer does not take much time and money. In 15 minutes and 6 euros from the airport you can get to the city.

Apartments in Pescara, not far from the coast, but not on the first line, will cost us 650 - 800 euros for 9 days. Having a kitchen will help you save a lot on food. But anyway, let's put in our budget the possibility of a snack outside the house and plan our budget for food 550 euros. In total - a beach holiday costs us 1,300 euros - about 95,000 rubles.

Beach holidays - cost

  1. Flight Milan - Pescara - Milan ≈ 4500 rubles.
  2. Accommodation in apartments ≈ 50,000 rubles.
  3. Food and transfers ≈ 41,000 rubles.

Total for a beach holiday ≈ 95,000 rubles.

The minimum cost of a self-catering accommodation on the coast for our dates, which we found, is 360 euros ≈ 26,000 rubles. If you almost completely refuse to eat out, then 300 euros or 22,000 rubles will be enough for food and transfers.

Thus, the minimum budget for our beach holiday is ≈ 52,000 rubles.

Pescara. What to do besides the sea

In Pescara, there are not only beaches, there is the Cathedral of San Setteo, the house of the writer Gabriel D'Annunzio, the churches of the Holy Spirit and the Apostle Andrew, as well as the government palace. There are museums. Just in mid-July, the Pescara Jazz international music festival takes place in the city.

Pescara and Rome

Pescara is located just 155 kilometers from Rome. The fastest way (except for taxis) is by bus. Travel time one way is 2 hours 25 minutes. The cost of a round trip for two is ≈ 50 euros (3,700 rubles).

Rome is an eternal city, so we will calculate that one day here will cost us 150 euros. On excursions, trips around the city and food. One day is certainly not enough to explore Rome. You can stay overnight near the center for 50 euros, and we will lay an additional 50 euros for transport and food. Now you can make it to the Vatican. Going to the museum and admiring the murals of the Sistine Chapel made by hands: Botticelli, Pinturicchio and Michelangelo, as well as many other works of art, of course, is priceless, but it will cost 56 euros for two, that is, about 4,000 rubles.

It is impossible to thoughtfully walk around the Vatican Museums in half a day, but it is quite possible to get an idea and see the main masterpieces. Total: the second day in Rome will cost us 7,200 rubles (100 euros) without visiting the Vatican Museums and 11,200 rubles or 160 euros if you visit the Vatican Museums.

Trip to Rome. Price

  1. Bus Pescara - Rome - Pescara ≈ 50 euros (3700 rubles)
  2. Excursions, food, transport in Rome ≈ 150 euros (10,800 rubles)

Total trip to Rome for 1 day ≈ 200 euros (14,500 rubles)

Savings are possible on food and excursions if you visit most of the sights on your own, and for lunch and dinner, choose a restaurant in the center in advance, but not in the popular tourist area. Then a day in Rome will cost us about 75 euros or 5,400 rubles. The economy version of the trip will cost a little more than 9,000 rubles.

2 day trip to Rome

The second day in Rome will add between 50 and 150 euros to the existing options.

  1. Rome - one night in a hotel near the center - 50 euros (3700 rubles)
  2. A visit to the Vatican Museums ≈ 56 euros.
  3. Transport, food, souvenirs, tickets for excursions for two days 150 euros (10,800 rubles)

In total, a trip to Rome for 2 days will cost ≈ 250 to 310 euros for the entire trip (18,200 - 22,200 rubles).

What to see in Rome in one or two days

  1. Peter's Cathedral and Square (Vatican)
  2. Optional Vatican Museums
  3. Navona Square
  4. Pantheon and Rotunda
  5. Trevi Fountain
  6. Coliseum
  7. Arch of Constantine in Rome
  8. Baths of Caracalla

Way home

Since we bought all the round-trip tickets, most of the expenses for the return trip have already been calculated for us. We fly from Pescara to Bergamo, from where we have a flight to Budapest in four hours. Therefore, we will lay down 40 euros for a snack at the airport and 20 euros for transfers from Budapest airport to the hotel and back. In order to make the trip easier, we chose a hotel on the way back two kilometers from Budapest Airport.

We take accommodation without breakfast, as we have an early flight. Double room ≈ 35 euros. Dinner at the restaurant will also be estimated at 40 euros and another 12 euros for breakfast at the airport. To calculate the minimum budget, you can replace dinner with a snack and spend 15 euros on it, but you should not refuse a sandwich and coffee at the airport. The airline we fly with offers meals on board only for an additional fee, that is, approximately the same 12 euros for two.

Road home cost

  1. Light lunch at Bergamo airport (pizza and drinks) ≈ 20 euros.
  2. Dinner in Budapest ≈ 40 euros.
  3. Hotel accommodation ≈ 35 euros.
  4. Breakfast at the airport or on board the plane ≈ 12 euros.
  5. Transfer airport-hotel-airport ≈ 20 euros.

Total on the way back about 130 euros (9000 rubles).

As we have already written above, you can only save on food here. Tightening your belts, well, or switching to hot dogs, the road home will cost us 7000 rubles.

SUMMARY BY ROUTE

  1. Two or three countries: Hungary, Italy (Vatican). Three cities: Budapest - three days, Milan - two days, Pescara - 9 days. Six flights. Optional trip to Rome for one or two days.
  2. The minimum budget for all flights, accommodation, meals and transfers is ≈ 115,000 rubles for two or 57,500 rubles for one traveler.
  3. An economical, but still not ascetic budget is ≈ 179,000 rubles for two or 89,500 rubles for one traveler. With a trip to Rome - from 188,000 rubles.

Prices in comparison

We called one of the major Russian travel agencies and asked us to calculate the minimum cost of a package tour for two on the coast of Italy from July 16 to 31.

Accommodation in a 3 * hotel with breakfast relatively close to the sea will cost from 97,000 rubles for two with a flight and transfer. Even if we eat only pizza and drink only water, in 14 days we will eat at least 500 euros. Thus, a package tour, without excursions and a diet hazardous to health, will cost us at least 130,000 rubles.

A package tour, without excursions and a diet hazardous to health, will cost us at least 130,000 rubles.

ROUTE TWO - SPANISH

We will not describe the second route in detail. Let's describe it schematically, minimalistically and by date.

  1. From July 21st to 30th we travel from Milan to Barcelona.
  2. Flight Milan-Barcelona - Milan will cost us 200 euros 14,400 rubles.
  3. Accommodation on the coast of Barcelona for the entire period (9 nights) from 600 euros or 43,200 rubles.
  4. Meals (we cook ourselves) - 300 euros or 22,000 rubles.
  5. Transfers, excursions, souvenirs - 150 euros or 10,800 rubles.

Total beach holiday in Spain from 90,000 rubles.

POSSIBLE DESTINATIONS FROM MILAN

We will briefly describe a few more likely trips from Milan to the beaches of Europe. At the moment, their cost is comparable to those options that we have already described. In the case of traveling towards southeastern Europe, Croatia and Montenegro, slight savings on food and hotels are possible.

1. Atlantic coast of Spain Santander and Bilbao.
a. Flight from Milan and back 220 euros.
2. Croatia and Montenegro: flight to Dubrovnik and back - 180 euros. 7-9 days in Dubrovnik and surroundings from 700 euros. In the neighboring (distance about 50 km.) Herceg Novi (Montenegro) from 450 euros.
3. North of Italy and Croatia: we get to Trieste by train - the way there and back will cost us about 100 euros.

Buses in Croatia are comfortable, equipped with air conditioning and often toilets.

  1. Hotels or apartments on the coast of Croatia are not cheap. For 9 days, the best offer is an apartment for 450 euros, but now the next most expensive accommodation option asks for 950 euros.
  2. You can stay for one night in Rijeka (about 100 euros) and go to the Plitvice Lakes by bus. You can rent quite good apartments there for 400 euros for the entire stay.

Attention! Prices are current at the time of writing, and therefore may differ from the current ones. To determine prices, we used one airline ticket aggregator, two of the most popular hotel and apartment booking services, Italian bus and rail transport sites, and Croatian bus transport sites.

In this text, we are looking at inexpensive options for staying in private rooms or apartments with a private bathroom. Accordingly, the cost of living in a hostel or in a hotel room with a shared bathroom can be 10-50% lower. Also, the total cost can be reduced by completely abandoning restaurants. We also provide an example of a minimum route budget based on current market offerings. All prices in the text are for two adults

Flights

  • The most important rule for saving on air travel is to follow all the promotions of airlines, subscribe to the mailing lists of ticket sales services and book very, very early (at least a month before departure).
Read also:
  • In order to save as much as possible on flights to Europe, you can fly not from Russia, but from neighboring countries: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland and Poland. European low-cost airlines, which are not in our country, often fly from the airports of these countries. It is quite possible to buy a plane ticket for these airlines from €2-4. As for different destinations, you can fly to Berlin from Riga for €10, to Milan from Vilnius - for €20. From the Lithuanian cities of Kaunas and Vilnius, you can fly to anywhere in Europe. From the Finnish city of Lappeenranta, you can fly to Milan, Düsseldorf and Barcelona.

  • Names of European low-cost airlines (write in a notebook or notes on your phone so you don't forget!): Ryanair, Wizz Air, AirBaltic, Norwegian, EasyJet.
  • And you can also book tickets for and get a 1% cashback from the CashForBrands service!

Visa

To save on visa and visa fees, you can make a Schengen multiple visa, which is valid much longer than usual. But in order to obtain such a visa, certain conditions will need to be met - for example, in Italy such a visa for up to two years can only be obtained if there are two or more Schengen visas in the last two years. In France, with the same number of visas, a multivisa can be extended up to five years.

Of course, if you are getting a Schengen visa for the first time, you should not count on it, but for experienced travelers, this option will help save a lot on paperwork.

Transport

The system of travel in public transport using plastic cards (such as Troika in Moscow or Plantain in St. Petersburg) saves time and money very well. Many cards have a rate where you can make any number of trips in a certain amount of time (for example, one hour or a day). The only downside to these fares is that if you're even a minute late, the penalty for doing so can drastically cut your savings. Be extremely careful and attentive.

In many countries and cities in Europe there are special bus companies such as Busabout and Eurolines. Bus routes are very diverse and are regional (a route within the same region, city or country) and across several neighboring European countries with stops in cities popular with tourists.

Housing

  • The most economical option is couchsurfing. In fact, you are going to a local resident's home. The advantage of this method is the sea - a friendly owner will show you a city or country, tell you about its culture and traditions, take you to the most delicious and cheap restaurants, and you will make a friend from Europe.

Food

Speaking of cheap restaurants, don't be fooled by restaurants with Tripadvisor, Lonely planet, and Michelin stickers if you're on a tight travel budget. Virtually every place that is recommended by these organizations becomes incredibly popular and expensive...but the quality of the food can often go down. The surest rule for choosing restaurants and cafes is to eat where the locals do it.

It is quite possible to save on food and do without restaurants - stay in hostels or apartments with a kitchen. Buying food and cooking it yourself is always easier and much cheaper (with the possible exception of a few countries). If you still want to go to a cafe or restaurant, you can look for special establishments for immigrants. The food is much cheaper there, the service is simpler, and the atmosphere is sincere.

Currency exchange

Currency exchange is an important issue in any trip. Even before the trip, find out what rates for currency conversion your bank has and, depending on this, decide how much and what currency you need to take with you on the road. Yes, yes, on the road, because immediately upon arrival you may need a local SIM card or a bus ticket from the airport - but there is no money.

You can, of course, exchange at the airport, but the exchange rate there is extremely unfavorable for tourists.

Communication and Internet

When traveling abroad, subscribe to a package of services that includes relatively cheap mobile phone communication and at least minimal mobile Internet traffic. And to cut down on Internet costs while roaming, use Wi-Fi wherever it is available. Free Internet access can be found in restaurants, museums, parks, libraries.

Download as many thematic applications for travelers as possible to your smartphone or tablet: offline maps, phrasebooks, audio guides, reference books. This will allow you to find inexpensive places where you can eat deliciously, interesting and free entertainment, discounts in stores, etc.

Have you been to Europe? In which country?

How to plan your travel itinerary in Europe by car

We have been traveling abroad by car for five years now. In the fall, we again set off on a long journey. The question “where” arose in the spring. We prefer "slow travel" and try not to rush across the EU with our eyes wide open. Usually one country is chosen for the trip with some transit additions. In 2011 she became, in 2012 -, in 2013 -, in 2014 -. We do not yet know how to approach Norway - the country is expensive, and after another bout of "prosperity" it has become even more expensive for us. God willing, we will go to Italy in the future. But there are so many interesting things there - a rich history, ancient culture, classical art - as if not to “burst” 🙂 .

Choosing a consulate for obtaining visas, and, accordingly, the main country of residence.

Our visas ran out earlier, so the route had to be linked to the country whose consulate we were going to apply for the next ones. Many travelers like to get Spanish and Italian visas. For us, the most “convenient” visas are French or Czech. But the French have an element of a lottery: they can give you a “kopeck piece” (s), or even a “five”, or they can give you a multivisa ... according to the duration of the trip.

Features of obtaining a Czech visa

Everything is clear with the Czech consulate: there are two “Schengen” cards used for their intended purpose (i.e. with stamps of the border guards of the EU countries) - you will receive a year, there is a one-year Czech visa - you will receive two, but ... only if you go to Czech Republic. Making reservations through booking.com and then canceling them is not an option. Czech officials directly point out that in case of changes in the travel route, you must notify the consulate about this. The owners of Czech hotels must provide the police with information about guests on the basis of the “were - were not there” principle. If, “hoping for a chance”, you go not to the Czech Republic, then there is a chance to end up at a checkpoint with ... an annulled visa. Of course, you can travel to the Czech Republic endlessly, but not all the time 🙂 .

french visa

As a result, a French visa was chosen for the future trip and, accordingly, most of the route had to go through France. There is no such rigid imperative as in the Czech Republic. The French usually don’t check whether you took off your armor or not, whether you went to France or to, but ... conscience is also a good thing. If you have been given hospitality, answer the hosts in the same way. Go to them, spend your money there, and then you can go to the ends of the world, to Finland, even to Slovenia.

So, the first choice is made: we are going to France again! Of course, it was made according to our desire. We would decide to go, say, to Italy, we would go to the Italians.

Choosing the duration of the route and transit overnight in Germany.

I want to visit everywhere and at once, but financial resources are limited. Time is also not rubber and, moreover, somewhere in the third week of the trip, the eyes begin to “blur”. Based on the experience of previous trips “for everything, everything”, we allocate 20 days (1 more day in reserve). Of these, 4 days for transit through and there and back. I repeat that about fly & drive, please do not! (C). In this case, the time that we have is money, which we do not have a little. Especially since We start to relax as soon as we leave for.

Looking at an honest, not subject to corruption policeman is already resting.

Travel time

I use Google maps to plan my route. Someone prefers Viamichelin or Autoroute. All of these planners accurately reflect the travel time. I emphasize once again that we do not like to drive 1000 km a day, although we used to pass even more. The first one is even longer, but it's a necessary evil. The second one is also not close: from to a certain German town where we have to spend the night.

On our trips through Germany, we stopped at, and. Usually I figure out on Google maps how far I can get without tearing myself up “everything in the world on the British flag” and start looking for a hotel in the vicinity on the principle of “better and cheaper”. So the town of Bad Grund in the Harz was chosen for the French trip. Well, who can resist a "house in the mountains" with breakfast for only 40E?

Pension Harz-Waldwinkel - our overnight stay on the way to France.

Route selection in France

It's only travel agencies that offer Paris yes. For especially wealthy fellow citizens, Courchevel pops up in winter, and the Cote d'Azur in summer. In fact, France is much more interesting. There is something to see in every village. You can use the ready-made routes of our predecessor travelers, but they compiled them for themselves and for themselves. Therefore, we arm ourselves with an atlas with sights marked on them, guides, an Internet planner and, last but not least, the Internet as such.

Road atlases. They will not be replaced by any navigator or Internet planner. No guides either. Based on them, we make a trip itinerary.

In RuNet there is almost no information about the unexplored corners of France, so you have to climb French sites, choosing what the guidebooks are silent about. In addition, it is advisable not to repeat. For example, it's beautiful, but we've already been there.

The first two French provinces fit into the travel itinerary by itself. This is Alsace - how else to enter France from Germany?

On the highway leading from the German border to Strasbourg.

Besides, we really like it there. We decided to stay in for two nights, and not for one, as originally planned. After long and careful study of hotels , settled on a familiar and proven in

not far from .

The second province was Burgundy. In 2013, we crossed it in transit, licking at the tempting signs with sights, but then they were waiting for us.

Route A 36. The city of Bon is a historical and cultural landmark. UNESCO Historical Heritage in Burgundy - Fontenay Abbey.

So Beaune, Dijon, the abbeys of Fontenay and Vezelay organically fit into the route. For a quick acquaintance with Burgundy, you need at least 3 days: one day for Beaune, possibly with the vineyards of Côte d'Or, another day for Dijon and another day for the rest. Accordingly, we needed a hotel for two nights.

The choice of the "Burgundian base" was no less difficult. At first, I planned to stay in Beaune, but having estimated on the map that we would have to go back on the second night, I decided to replay on Dijon. A careful analysis of Dijon booking offers brought disappointing results: either in the center, but expensive, or cheap, but with bad reviews and a shower in the corridor. Moreover, in the "light of the latest decisions of the party and government" I really wanted to meet 50 E / night. It remains to expand the search. Instead of “Dijon”, I type “Côte d’Or” in booking and, filtering through the numerous hotels of Beaune, I finally find Datcha Bourguignonne. Does the first word remind you of anything? That's right - "dacha". Located in the village of Maconge, which I had never heard of before. A room on the 2nd floor - read, the attic of a converted farm. But there is a shower, a toilet, a bed, and we don’t need anything else. But the price is 40 E per night. The location is the best you can imagine - at the same distance from Beaune, Dijon and Semur en Auxois.

And then where? Here we had to make the most important choice of the trip: Brittany or Perigord? I really wanted to get to Perigueux, Sarlat, Cahors (Cahors in Russian) and the Millau viaduct. I figured it out this way and that, filled several sheets of paper with the supposed layouts of the trip by day, trying to get the unimaginable to embrace the immensity. I almost memorized the sheets of the atlas with Perigord, Quiersey and Gascony, but in the end ... abandoned it in favor of Brittany. The desire to see Cape Ra and take a walk along the seashore overcame.

But from Burgundy to Brittany you still need to get there. But I don’t want to - we looked at it in detail two years ago. Go down to Poitou? Far from Vézelay, so you have to spend the night in Poitiers. Then we will go to Vannes and the Quiberon peninsula. However, the analysis of the available information leads to disappointing conclusions: it is not close from Poitiers to Vannes, and the city is interesting and half a day is not enough for us. Stay another day? What about South Brittany? “With a creak of heart, I cross out Poitou from the list” (c).

Here I remember that being in, we never got to Loches Castle. Where is he there? Oppa! Ideally fits on the route from Bourges to Vannes. It remains only to decide on an overnight stay. In the atlas, about halfway, I see the city of Cholet. By the way, it was smooth on the monitor paper, but they forgot about the ravines ... (c). We spent too much time on the Bourges, although we did not regret it. I had to go not through Loches, but through Saumur. Familiar names flashed by: Blois, Chenonceau, Amboise, Azay-le-Rideau. But in Cholet we still had time.

The city is not marked in yellow on the map (an interesting tourist place), so much the better. So in the morning we’ll immediately rush to Vannes! And then the Ibis budget for 45E turned up. It’s okay that the “budget” - you can spend the night for one night, but not far from the cathedral and parking is free!

"Ibis-budget" in Cholet. In the background are the towers of the cathedral.

Plan first third route.
1 day: Moscow -
Day 2: – Bad Grund
Day 3: Bad Grund -
Day 4:-
Day 5: - Beaune - Maconge
Day 6: Maconge - Dijon - Maconge
Day 7: Maconge - Fontenay - Vezelay - La Charité-sur-Loire
Day 8: La Charité - Bourges - Loches - Cholet

We proceed to the Breton part of the journey. Brittany is a very special place, there are even two languages - French and Breton. From three sides it is washed by the Atlantic Ocean and it is here that it is worth staying longer. I want to see everything at once: capes and beaches, Pont-Aven and Roscoff, parish sites and the Pink Granite Coast!
Choosing places to spend the night in Brittany was especially difficult. I wanted to stay longer in one place, and so that on the seashore, and inexpensively, and without prepayment. As the saying goes "fast, cheap and high quality - choose any two positions." Inexpensive and without prepayment - these are chain hotels on the outskirts of cities 🙁 Inexpensive and beautiful - private B&B (not a chain, but international terminology - bed and breakfast, that is, bed and breakfast) far from the sea, but with a prepayment. It remained to strangle the toad and book what you like. We got out of the budget, but in the end we are going on vacation! Here's what we ended up booking:

Quiberon Peninsula in Brittany. Hotel “Port Aligen”. Hotel du Rocher (circled) in Pllumana'c Bay on the Pink Granite Coast.

Plan of the Breton part of the route began to look like this:
Day 9: Cholet - Vannes - Karnak (?) - Quiberon. By the way, the question mark can be removed - we were in Karnak and were simply stunned by menhirs, dolmens and other prehistoric stones.

Day 10: Quiberon - Pont-Aven - Concarneau - Cape Ra - Trefentek

Day 11: Trefiontek - Crozon Peninsula - Sizen - Trefiontek

Day 12: Trefentek - Playben - Lokronan - Kemper - Trefentek. In fact, the order of visiting the above places turned out to be a little different, but we saw a lot and very beautiful.

Day 13: Trefentek - parish areas (Gimillo, Lampol-Gimillo, Saint-Tegonnec) - Perro-Guirec.

Day 14: Perros-Guirec - Pink Granite coast - Cap Frehel - Saint-Malo

We wanted to get to Saint-Malo two years ago, but we didn’t have time. On this journey, it became the place from which we set off on our way back. Initially, it was supposed to go through Chartres and Charleville-Meziers to the Belgian Bouillon and, further, to Dinan. But while I was thinking, in Chartres everything more or less suitable had already been booked, the price tags in Belgium were also not encouraging, and this part of the route disappeared by itself. Chartres was replaced by Amiens. However, I did not want to go there directly from Saint-Malo. The path is long, and Saint-Malo is crumpled, and Amiens is not really a look. Thus, another intermediate point arose in. It is located almost halfway between Saint-Malo and Amiens.

We've been there before, so what? We walked in the vile pouring rain and did not get into the Eugene Boudin Museum. In addition, one must buy the forbidden Normandy Camembert and Livaro somewhere! And at the same time, the fruit-beneficial moonshine of Calvados.

"Country" road near Honfleur.

In the suburb of Amiens, Glizi, I turned up an inexpensive chain hotel Quick Palace. Shower in the room, free parking and only 35E discounted. Booking! True, I did not take into account that some networks are very fond of blocking funds on the card, and the cat cried them (funds) there. Well, okay, the lock fell off after a month. In Amiens, our excursion program was to end. All that was left was to return home. You can’t get from Picardy to Poland in one day if you are not an “uncle racer” and are not ready to sleep in a car. I need to find a place to stay about 5 hours from Amiens in Germany. A loved one in the Moselle Valley looks very seductive. But it's a pretty detour to the south.

Instead of Rhineland-Palatinate, they were looking for accommodation in North Rhine-Westphalia. The first thing that came to mind was Cologne. But there are a lot of interesting things there - a cathedral, an art gallery, 12 (!) Romanesque churches. Going there only for the night is once again poisoning the soul. Cologne remained for the future.

Continued searching with the help of booking. Düsseldorf, Wuppertal, Leverkusen, Solingen ... Hmm, a little expensive. The calculation is clearly for businessmen, and not for limited means of auto travelers. Finally (for which I love booking!) I stumble upon the town of Engelskirchen. From Amiens 436 km or 4.5 hours. It has an offer from a guest house with a pub on the ground floor. Standard room 49E, parking is free, that's just breakfast for some money. Nothing, we'll have breakfast with the remains of a French baguette with cheese 🙂 . That's it, the itinerary is ready!

Route plan on return from Brittany.
Day 15: Saint-Malo - Honfleur
Day 16: Honfleur - Amiens - Glizy
Day 17: Glizi - Amiens - Engelskirchen
Day 18: Engelskirchen - Poland (where we will go)
Day 19:
Day 20: - Moscow

It took about 3 hours to write this article, and the process of planning the route, searching and booking hotels took about a month. Looking through the same hotels for the fifth time was very tiring. But how nice it is when everything worked out, docked and it remains only to carry out the plan!

I wrote this article a few months before the trip, but did not open it for reasons ... superstition. Now, when everything turned out perfectly and the only minor annoyance was a burnt-out light bulb, I decided to correct the text a little and finally open it for reading. I hope this proves useful.
Detailed progress report independent travel to France in 2015 is published. Link to the first part:

A trip to Europe is definitely on the must-visit list for anyone with a fondness for travel. And since Europe is a very multi-component concept, the prospect of buying a tour to several countries at once seems doubtful and, of course, expensive. Planning a trip on your own is a direct path to a sea of vivid impressions and no less pleasant savings.

Do not be afraid to take organizational issues on yourself, a trip to Europe by car (or by plane 🙂) is not as scary as the imagination draws it. The main point is to choose the priority method for you to travel between countries from the above. We will help you decide, write down all the nuances and calculate the approximate cost of a future adventure!

The difference between auto and air travel is only in the principle of preliminary preparation. And if everything is simple with an airplane - we buy tickets and a huge winged car takes us to the country of dreams, then with a car it’s more difficult, because. the planning process here requires more scrupulousness. Well, at least because you will manage the four-wheeled beast yourself.

To make a successful trip around Europe by car, it is necessary, first of all, to draw up a reliable and detailed route.

P.S. The starting point of our trip, both by plane and by car, is the city of Moscow.

We are looking for cool angles for a photo with the Eiffel Tower - how do you like it?

Planning a travel itinerary across Europe

It all depends on your fantasies and desires. Perhaps you are an avid explorer of Europe and this time you are striving to explore France far and wide, or maybe you are discovering the western expanses for the first time and want to capture all the great capitals. The extreme option is unlikely to fit into the framework of a standard 14-day vacation, but you can try.

In any case, first decide on the main cities where the adventure spirit takes you, and enter the points in the navigator, having estimated the type of route, and along the way, mark the stops on the good old map - in case the gadget is unexpectedly turned off. Remember, your plan should be as specific and detailed as possible.

By the way, special planner sites help to calculate the route of the trip. They will roughly calculate the kilometers and hours that you will spend driving around European lands, as well as the approximate (from the word very) cost of fuel consumption. And following the well-known recommendation - build a path so that you spend no more than 5-6 hours behind the wheel, and in relation to distances, limit yourself to 250-300 km daily. You do not want to contemplate the landscapes from the car window during half the daylight hours, do you?

Walking the streets of Barcelona somewhere in the Gothic Quarter

A favorite tourist route for traveling around Europe with a starting point from Moscow goes through Belarus and smoothly flows to the border with Poland, and there already - where the navigator tells. We advise you to familiarize yourself with the customs rules in advance, because. there are often restrictions on the transport of certain groups of goods.

Behind the border post, ideal roads begin that will accompany you throughout your journey by car. Riding them is a no-brainer. But here's what can really cause inconvenience: most of the highways here are toll. Therefore, in order to avoid collisions with formidable inspectors and paying fines, inquire in advance about the fare in the countries included in your European itinerary. The site tolls.eu shows that in the Republic of Poland, for example, the fare varies from 150 to 1000 rubles.

An important point is the calculation of gasoline for the trip. Mark at least a few gas stations between each of the long journeys, but in any case, do not fall short of the last one. If the tank is half empty, refuel at the nearest station, and do not rely on the "same one" after ten kilometers. But in general, you will hardly be surprised to learn that the cost of gasoline in Europe is an order of magnitude more expensive than at home, and gas stations along highways offer fuel at higher prices than in cities. The approximate price of gasoline in the Schengen countries is about €1.20, or 70 rubles.

As we have said, with an airplane, everything is much simpler. However, in the matter of how to save money and how to find the cheapest flights to Europe, there are some snags.

Photo of Paris taken from the Arc de Triomphe (rise - 12 euros)

We buy cheap air tickets in Europe. What are lowcosters?

2. We use services to find cheap air tickets to the fullest. The most convenient and proven:

Some of their chips can not only find the cheapest flights to Europe for you, but also help you decide on the route.

For example, the flexible search function: we drive Moscow into the “from” line and Everywhere into “where”, plus the desired month, and we get a profitable offer. And having escaped from the capital to the Schengen country, from there we can go almost anywhere in Europe for a penny.

The golden rule of promotions for cheap tickets to European countries - do not hesitate. Seen, buy. Postponing the purchase until tomorrow, most likely, you will have to expand the search again.

3. Fly around Europe with low-cost airlines.
The countries of the Schengen Agreement are famous for both "open" borders between themselves and the network of low-cost airlines that conveniently connects them. Low-cost airlines, or “low-cost carriers” in Russian, may well offer to fly from Italy to France for less than 1,000 rubles.

Of course, passengers also pay for some inconveniences - an extra charge for baggage, an extra charge for choosing a seat, mandatory online check-in (otherwise an extra charge at the airport), no food, and the list goes on.

But one look at the prices of low-cost airlines (Ryanair, Wizz Air, EasyJet) - and all this fades into the background, because there is an excellent prospect of a tour of European countries with very inexpensive flights ahead. See for yourself:

Well, if we are moving around Europe on our own, then we should book the hotel ourselves.

The following services will come to the rescue here:

Applying for a Schengen visa

In fact, one of the highlights of our trip. Without this insert in the passport, alas, the lights of Europe do not shine for us. Where to apply for a Schengen? The most budgetary thing will be to collect the documents yourself and submit an application to the visa center. By the way, we already have a ready-made article (), which will assist in obtaining a Schengen visa. Read-study!

And in short: we form the necessary package of documents, fill out an application for a Schengen visa and pay a visit to the visa center with consular accreditation. The algorithm is quite simple, but for some reason many go to travel agencies, or intermediary firms, preferring to shift the burden of organizational red tape onto the shoulders of "professionals". Of course, for some additional payment.

You don't have to overpay. Prepare the following documents:

  • bank card statement (balance - at the rate of €90 per day);
  • accommodation booking confirmation;
  • certificate of employment indicating the amount of income or sponsorship letter;
  • medical insurance ( ideal - travel insurance);
  • air tickets. If you are traveling in Europe by car, you must provide an exact itinerary with the number of days spent in each country.

Study the sample of filling out the application form for a Schengen visa 2019:

And, after checking once again the availability of all documents for obtaining a Schengen visa, go straight to the accredited visa application center in your city/district.

Determine the cost of a trip to Europe

If we undertake to calculate the price of such an undertaking as an independent trip around Europe, then it makes sense to take into account the cost of a visa, tickets and accommodation, because. everything else depends only on the traveler's appetite. Yes, and these points are very approximate, because everyone chooses his ideal route.

Let's compare how much the 5 most popular countries in Europe cost in a basic way. For a trip in June from Moscow and per person (accommodation in a double room - the amount for one - in an inexpensive hotel, but with normal reviews):

If you ask why not by car, we will answer that the cost of gasoline alone on the road from Moscow to Berlin will be about €190 (and 24 hours of travel). Of course, it is not entirely true to compare the distances covered by an aircraft and a car within the same route. But still it is cheaper to travel around Europe by air transport.

But there are probably more adventures behind the wheel and with a group of friends.

The best sights of Europe

Traveling to the Schengen area for the first time? Then, for sure, the places that you long to finally see with your own eyes will coincide with our list of the main attractions of European countries.

  1. Eiffel Tower, France. For some, it is a boring pile of iron, for others it is a dubious construction that disfigures the face of the city (an approximate interpretation of the words of Dumas and Maupassant), and for the rest it is an eternal symbol of romance. Only one thing is certain: a date with her is exciting and exciting even for the tenth time in a row. The guidebooks around Europe will tell you the same thing, annually granting the tower the title of the number one European attraction.

  1. Colosseum, Italy. The grandiose structure of the times of the Ancient World today still gathers thousands of people every day. True, she strives not for bread and circuses, but for a piece of history and photographs.
  1. Temple of the Sagrada Familia, Spain. Perhaps the only one of the sights of European countries that attracts crowds of tourists even in unfinished form. What will happen in 2026, when the Sagrada will be shown to us in all its glory, just in time for the centenary of the death of Gaudí's chief architect?

Sagrada Familia and crowds of tourists - come here early in the morning (at 7 o'clock)

  1. Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany. This is the perfect collective image of all the castles and palaces that we contemplated in cartoons in childhood and read about in legends, novels and fairy tales. The most fabulous place in Europe, it inspired Tchaikovsky to create Swan Lake. What will Neuschwanstein inspire you to do? 🙂
  1. Louvre, France. Visitors to Mecca of fine arts and its surrounding areas are generally divided into two types. Those who can't wait to break into the crowded halls and face the original painting of the Mona Lisa, and those who first prefer to "grab" the pyramid - the main entrance to one of the most famous European attractions.

And here is the morning Louvre, there are practically no people!

Well, will you try to make a cheap travel route to Europe, or maybe with a trip through our Top 5? 🙂 It's up to you, the main thing - do not be afraid to organize your adventures, and not only European ones, on your own!

Traveling around Europe is becoming more and more popular. The number of cars is growing, which means that the flow of autotourists is also growing. This is a relatively cheap way to see many interesting places. But knowing some of the features of traveling by car, you can save a lot of money. And you just need to know what you will encounter abroad and what you need to prepare for.

Use the navigator. This will make your travel much easier. Also, download the latest maps to the navigator so that it does not send you to non-existent roads and finds the shortest paths between point A and B.

Plan a route in advance, at least an approximate one. No need to plan in the style: "Tomorrow at 12:00 we will be there, and by 16:00 we need to be somewhere else." Such planning collapses in the first days. It is better to decide which places you want to visit without fail, and already on the way you can change the plan according to your desires.

Take a paper card. It saves in some cases. The navigator can break down, and navigating in a foreign country is quite difficult. I recommend that you mark on the map the places you want to visit, so that later it will be easier to navigate.

Do not chase the number of countries you see. It is better to get acquainted with the new state in more detail than just drive through it and say that you were there. It is best to drive no more than 400 kilometers a day, the rush is very tiring and makes the trip just a race against time.

Refuel your car on time. Traveling by car in Europe requires a lot of gasoline. If the tank is only half full (or half empty, the eternal debate between optimists or pessimists :)), then it is better to refuel. Then you can just forget about it, and there will be no gas station nearby. Also remember that in some European countries, filling stations operate automatically in the evening and at night and payment is made only in cash at this time.

Watch the road carefully. Since there are a lot of roads in Europe, the chance to turn the wrong way is great. If you use a navigator, then the risk of such a situation is minimized.

Take your inverter with you. This device converts the current with which you don’t have to worry about dead batteries in a laptop, phone, photo or video camera.

Choose the right type of road. If you want to get from one place to another as quickly as possible, then use the autobahns, and if you want to see interesting places, then choose ordinary roads.

The documents

Where are we without papers :). So before the trip, it is imperative to collect the necessary documents so that our trip goes like clockwork. Please note that different countries have different traffic regulations. When entering Germany at the border, your car can be checked for environmental pollution, studded tires are prohibited in many EU countries, and with tinting you will receive a huge fine. And now directly to the necessary documents for traveling around Europe.

  • The rights. In Russia, the rights to drive a car of international standard have long been valid, so no additional certificates are needed here.
  • Auto insurance. Moreover, European-style auto insurance, which is called the Green Card and is valid throughout the European Union. It can be issued both at home (it will be much easier) and at the border (it will be cheaper). If you have a CASCO, then you need to write an application to extend the policy to other countries (which you want to visit).
  • Documents for the car. registration certificate; technical inspection pass; power of attorney, if you are not the owner of the car, and the power of attorney must also be translated into English and notarized.
  • Customs declaration. Confirms that you entered the European Union in your own car. The declaration is issued at the customs checkpoint.
  • International passport. You can get it in 1-3 months, and if you already have it, then check that its validity period is more than 6 months from the date of return to your homeland from the trip.
  • Visa. Or rather. You will need to submit documents to receive it at the embassy of one of the countries you want to visit. If you intend to be in a certain country for most of your trip, then apply to the embassy of that country. And if the trip is of the type “One day - one country”, then it is better to submit documents to the embassy of the country through which the journey through the European Union will begin. It is important to know that the Schengen visa is not valid in the UK and Ireland, for these countries you need to apply for your own visas.
  • Medical insurance. Mandatory document when entering the European Union. You can read more about travel insurance, which includes medical insurance.

Route

It is very easy to create a route. You can use the service, there you can not only find out which roads you need to go, but also the distance, how much gasoline is needed, the approximate travel time and much more useful. This is my favorite service for planning a trip by car in Europe. You can also use google maps.

As for the nuances of the itinerary:

  • do not chase to drive as much as possible;
  • if you are tired, then rest, if you fall asleep at the wheel, then you will no longer have to travel;
  • also get a route in the car navigator;
  • print your route on paper;
  • decide on the important places you want to visit and mark them on the map.

Housing

Some travelers spend the night right in the car. I don’t really like this method, if you do too, then read this paragraph further. When traveling, you can use both, and live in hotels or rented rooms / apartments. I recommend reading articles on how to use . When I traveled around Europe, what I liked most of all was to live in hotels, this is a great accommodation option for those who love comfort while traveling and do not like unnecessary troubles with renting accommodation “on the spot”.

To book hotel rooms, use the service, you can also try to find hotels on, but the first service has already established itself as reliable, convenient and most effective in terms of finding inexpensive accommodation options.

There are also a lot of campsites in Europe. Camping is a small summer camp for car tourists, equipped with everything necessary for recreation, where you can set up a tent, and there are also small houses. — a very convenient search for campsites, which allows you to travel in Europe by car very cheaply.

Renting a home through Airbnb

is a service popular all over the world that allows you to quickly and easily book accommodation in the desired location. All users unanimously highlight the advantages of their favorite Arenbi site:

  • openness. When booking apartments, the traveler gets acquainted, communicates with the owner of the accommodation, learns the details and conditions of accommodation.
  • Interest. Independent planning of vacation and booking an apartment, immersion in an authentic environment, emotions from communication are an important part of any trip.

It is mutually beneficial to rent accommodation from private individuals when traveling around Europe. Many Europeans earn their living by renting out accommodation to tourists. And visitors receive accommodation and many recommendations and tips on how to spend time in an unfamiliar country.

Airbnb helps you stay in places that are truly interesting to the tourist. Renting apartments in the heart of European capitals on the famous boulevards of Vienna or Paris, narrow streets of Prague, on the avenues of Barcelona or the opportunity to rent a house in the Alps, or near the purest lakes of glacial origin, or in a nice provincial outback - what could be better? Doesn't this open up wide opportunities for quality rest and a good acquaintance with a foreign country?

Arenbi with a well-established system of communication between participants acts as a kind of guarantor of a good and interesting trip. To reduce the cost of rent, use.

Money

What money to take on a trip to Europe? How many to take? It all depends on which countries you decide to visit. Not all European countries use the euro. In Switzerland - Swiss francs, in Great Britain - pounds sterling, in Norway - Norwegian kroner.

If you are going to travel all over Europe, then take euros and a bank card. Which bank card to choose? Best of all, Visa or MasterCard, in rubles or euros does not play a special role. Even if the card is in rubles, when making purchases abroad, automatic conversion will be made and you will be able to pay for any goods and services. It is important that the card is personalized (your name should be engraved on it), those cards that are issued within 10 minutes will not work. Read more about money while traveling and bank cards.

Travel cost

The main costs of traveling by car in Europe can be divided into five unequal parts:

  • Traveling expenses. Includes gasoline, oil, toll roads, parking lots, car washes.
  • Accommodation. Overnight stays in hotels/hostels/camping sites/rented apartments.
  • Food. Grocery shopping in supermarkets, meals in buffets, visiting restaurants and cafes.
  • Attractions. Visiting museums, galleries and popular temples costs money.
  • Other expenses.

How much you spend depends on your travel style. If you eat in expensive restaurants in every city and spend the night in five-star hotels, then such a trip by car across Europe will cost several hundred thousand rubles a month. And if, pick up, use campsites, then such a trip by car in Europe will cost 30,000-80,000 rubles a month. The more countries you visit, the more the trip will cost. Traveling by car in Europe on your own is good because you decide how much and on what you want to spend your money.

When I traveled around Europe, I did not count the expenses. But my friends just recently returned from a two-week trip to Europe by car and wrote down all their expenses. Their route was: Moscow -> Warsaw (Poland) -> Berlin (Germany) -> Prague (Czech Republic) -> Bratislava (Slovakia) -> Kyiv (Ukraine) -> Moscow.

Their costs are:

  • Gasoline - 25,000 rubles
  • Accommodation (hotels, rented apartments) - 20,000 rubles
  • Meals - 12,000 rubles
  • Visiting attractions - 5000 rubles
  • Other - 5000 rubles

In just two weeks they spent 67,000 rubles. They are not budget travelers. It is possible, traveling along this route, to spend 2 times less. The main item of expenditure is gasoline. Calculate how much it will take for a trip and, based on this, determine what the price of your trip is. You can easily calculate the amount of gasoline required on the website.

How to save money on a trip

  • Think over your route. Do not zigzag (for example, the route Moscow -> Warsaw (Poland) -> Kyiv (Ukraine) -> Prague (Austria) -> Moscow will be wasteful, as you will have to travel from Warsaw back east to get to Ukraine, and then drive west again to Prague), drive in one direction (north to south, east to west), then your car journey through Europe will be less expensive and less exhausting.
  • Consider autobahn options. Sometimes it's cheaper to pay for the expressway than to take the ring road.
  • Take a supply of food with you. Take something that does not spoil quickly.
  • Go during the warm season. The cheapest trip will be in the summer, because. you can spend the night in campsites where the fee is minimal.
  • Stay overnight in hostels. It's something between a hotel and a hostel. A fairly cheap way to live abroad.
  • Use CouchSurfing. You can live absolutely free with other travelers. Only this is more a way to meet interesting people than a "free hotel".
  • Take travel companions with you. Let them pay part of the cost of gasoline and go with you in the same car.
  • Take advantage of others.

Traveling around Europe in your own car is a very exciting and interesting event in the life of any person. I recommend getting to know the life of the local population in as much detail as possible and communicating with new people, then there will be even more positive emotions. Using the information provided in this article, you can easily and quickly organize your car trip in the European Union, and around the world. Travel and enjoy life! All the best;) !
