Technology for installing and connecting a water heater at the dacha. How to connect a water heater in a country house Connecting a boiler in an apartment

  • 31.10.2023

Since centralized hot water supply to residential buildings is becoming irrelevant, autonomous storage water heaters are coming to replace them. An important advantage of these household appliances is simple installation that does not require special permits. We offer to help you realize this advantage and consider how to properly install and connect a boiler to the water supply of a private house or apartment.

Materials and components

As a rule, storage and instantaneous water heaters are equipped with fastenings - brackets or brackets designed for hanging the unit on the wall. You will have to buy the remaining components and pipeline fittings yourself.

To install and properly connect an electric boiler according to the standard scheme, prepare a set of materials:

  • 3 ball valves DN15;
  • 2 American ones of identical diameter;
  • tee Du15;
  • safety valve intended for boilers;
  • metal-plastic pipes (cross-linked polyethylene, corrugated stainless steel or polypropylene are also suitable) with connecting fittings;
  • three-core copper cable VVG with a conductor cross-section of 2.5 mm²;
  • automatic two-pole switch, designed for a current of 20 amperes.

Note. Some manufacturers complete their products with safety valves with rubber gaskets.

This is what the pressure release valve from the tank looks like

If you plan to install the pipe lines to the storage water heater in the wall, it is better to take a pipe made of metal-plastic, stainless steel or cross-linked polyethylene. It is not recommended to lay PPR wiring hidden. Do not forget about the brackets for attaching the pipes to the walls - the connections should not load the boiler pipes with their own weight.

The length of the cable for connecting to the electrical network depends on the distance from the main control panel, from where a separate power supply line will have to be installed. The second connection option is to the nearest electrical outlet box. For the open method, prepare plastic cable ducts or a corrugated sleeve.

When laid hidden, the pipes immediately go into the wall

The option for connecting an indirect heating boiler depends on the type of boiler and heating scheme. But you will definitely need pipes with fittings and a low-power circulation pump that develops a pressure of 4 m of water column (0.4 Bar).

Water heater installation

Before connecting the water heater to the electrical network and water supply, the unit should be securely mounted on the wall in a convenient place. Let's give some recommendations for placing the boiler:

Reference. In apartment buildings - new buildings, a separate room is often provided for the placement of water heating equipment.

Having chosen the location and height for hanging the water heater, mark the mounting points on the wall. The task is made easier by the design of a standard bracket in the form of a strip with slots for hooks, welded to the boiler body. Drill holes 12 cm deep, hammer in plastic plugs and screw in hooks with a diameter of 8 mm. The second fastening option is Ø10 mm anchor bolts. Together with an assistant, lift the heavy unit and hang it by the bracket.

Products of some brands are equipped with special paper templates that facilitate the initial marking of attachment points. There are boilers with a separate mounting plate, fixed to the wall with several dowels. The housing is screwed to it with ordinary bolts.

How to connect the device to the water supply network

The design of an electric or gas boiler provides for the selection of water for DHW needs from the upper zone of the tank, where it reaches its maximum temperature. Makeup from the cold water supply is carried out to the lower zone. This leads to the following problems with emptying the tank:

  • draining is impossible from the “hot” side - the end of the tube is located too high, so literally 2 liters will flow out of the container;
  • if you connect the pipe directly from the “cold” side, then to empty it you will have to unscrew the American pipe;
  • draining water through the standard valve is inconvenient and time-consuming - the cross-section of the fitting is too small.

The presented boiler connection diagram solves the listed problems and allows you to empty the tank at any time, spending literally 15 minutes. Each element of the harness clearly performs its function:

  1. Ball valves on the main lines serve to isolate the water heater from the water supply and domestic hot water networks.
  2. A tee with a third ball valve on the “cold” side is designed to completely empty the tank.
  3. The safety (also known as non-return) valve discharges excess water, whose volume increases when heated. The second function is to prevent the tank from emptying back into the supply line.
  4. American ones allow you to disconnect the device without disassembling the system.

To correctly assemble the electrical boiler piping, it is enough to connect the pipes according to the diagram and attach them to the wall with clamps. Lastly, the American ones are screwed on, and a flexible hose is put on the “spout” of the safety valve and directed into the sewer. The installation process of a storage water heater is clearly demonstrated in the video:

After assembly, check the tightness of the joints by opening the cold water supply. Filling the tank is done with the “hot” mixer tap open to release air. After making sure the connections are secure, proceed to electrical installation.

Connection to the house electrical network

The power of the vast majority of water heaters does not exceed 3.5 kW. If the consumption of your household appliance is within the specified limits, feel free to connect the boiler through one equipped with a grounding contact (required!). The work is simple: run a three-core cable from the distribution box using a corrugated cable or plastic box, and place a socket next to the heater.

Exposed wiring and outlet knobs are not popular with all homeowners. To make the electrical connection to the water heater more efficient, follow our instructions:

Plug in the boiler filled with water and check its functionality. Since on budget versions of the devices the heating temperature is regulated directly on the heating element, do not rush to put on the lid. Wait until the water reaches a comfortable temperature (look at the indicator) and turn the adjusting lever at the end of the heating element so that the heating element turns off.

Connecting an indirect heating boiler

The unit is a reservoir with a built-in coil that heats the main volume of water. Accordingly, the heat exchanger is connected to the boiler, and the tank is connected to the hot water supply system. The same safety valve is used to drain excess water that expands when heated.

The easiest way is to connect an indirect heating boiler to a single-circuit boiler equipped with special pipes. Inside the heat generator there is a three-way switching valve that distributes the coolant flow for heating or loading the hot water boiler - as the electronic control unit orders. In this case, the heater coil is simply connected to the corresponding pipes.

Note. We are talking about ones equipped with their own circulation pump. In floor-standing versions - solid fuel and gas - pumps and three-way valves, as a rule, are not provided.

The operation of the pumping unit is controlled by a thermostat built into the boiler (it has a special socket). When water withdrawal begins, the container cools down and the thermoelement starts the pump; when it is heated sufficiently, it stops.

Important point. Connection to a double-circuit boiler is made according to a similar scheme. It is not allowed to “hang” the boiler on the second circuit of the heat generator, operating from a flow-through heat exchanger. How to properly strap in such cases, watch the video from an expert:

Conclusion

You don’t have to read the instructions at all, don’t use any piping fittings, and supply water directly to the electric heater. The unit will function successfully until the first problem or repair of the water supply system, when you have to drain the water from the container. But there is one part that must be installed - a safety check valve. Without it, the expanding water can rupture any weak connections or the tank itself.

It is not always possible to connect a gas water heater or boiler, and then the question arises about choosing an electrical appliance. Connecting a water heater of this type is much simpler; it can be installed both in an apartment and in a country house.

So, electric boilers are not the cheapest type of water heaters. If it is possible to install a geyser, then it is more economical to choose a gas analogue.

Types of electric water heaters

The most common and popular devices:

  • accumulative;
  • flow-through;
  • liquid

The latter type of water heaters is used only in the absence of a centralized water supply, so it is installed quite rarely.

What is better to choose

First of all, the choice of device depends on the amount of free space and consumption per family. The connection diagrams for water heaters and wiring requirements also vary.

Cumulative

Electric storage water heaters are capable of providing the entire apartment with hot water, which is provided by a spacious tank.

These boilers are most common in apartments, they do not require improved wiring, and are connected via a regular 220 V outlet. Electric heating tanks are very economical and can work immediately on all “hot” taps in a house or apartment. Also, the devices maintain the temperature of the heated water well and even in the absence of light, you will be provided with hot water.

The main disadvantage of this type of device is its impressive dimensions, which vary depending on the volume of the tank. Moreover, installing a water heater with your own hands in this case will be much more difficult. Since in any case you will need hot water wiring and an outlet from the water supply to connect the tank.

Models with an economical mode (ECO) help to save a lot of money. They allow you to maintain the required water temperature with minimal electricity consumption.

Flow-through

An electric instantaneous water heater, unlike a storage one, has a modest size and does not require time to heat the water.

This type of water heater is suitable for dachas where there is no need to keep constantly heated water. The devices are quite compact and take up very little space. The equipment immediately supplies hot water to the tap, and there is no need to wait several hours for it to heat up. No matter how much water you use, it will always be hot, as it heats up as it passes through the water heater. Since the device is quite simple to manufacture, its price is lower than that of storage tanks. But unlike the latter, flow-through models consume a lot of electrical energy, require improved wiring and are unable to provide hot water to several taps at once.

How to connect a water heater: preparation

You should start your work by selecting the necessary tools and materials. Their set varies depending on the pipes used.

Be sure to obtain the following tools before starting work:

  • pipes;
  • valves, tees, angles;
  • ball valve;
  • a set of keys;
  • adjustable or gas wrench;
  • pipe cutter or soldering station (depending on the type of pipe used).

The easiest way to work is with metal-plastic pipes, which can be cut even with an ordinary knife. To cut into such a pipeline, it is enough to cut off a piece of pipe and install a tee. No soldering irons or special equipment is needed. The most complex is metal water supply. It is difficult to cut metal pipes; you will also need a clamp to make a branch for the boiler.

How to connect a instantaneous water heater in an apartment and in a country house

Before you begin installing a tankless water heater, make sure your meter and wiring will "pull" the water heater. If the meter has a current rating of less than 40A, it will require replacement.

Replacing the meter is easy. Choose the most powerful models. The installation is carried out by energy supervision services.

The same goes for wiring. Old aluminum wiring will not withstand heavy loads, which can lead to a fire. It is better to replace it with a new copper one with a larger cross-section. Pay attention to the power of the heater model. You should not choose models that are unable to maintain a water temperature of 40 degrees at a flow rate of 5 liters per minute.

Calculation of wire cross-section

Table of dependence of copper cable cross-section on current strength. You can select the appropriate wire cross-section value from the table, knowing the power or current of the water heater.

Let's remember the school physics course and the power formula:

P = I * U;

where P is power (W), I is current (A), U is voltage (V).

It turns out that if the power of the device is, for example, 7 kW, then using the formula it is easy to calculate the required current value.

I = P / U = 7000 / 220 ≈ 32 (A).

For every square millimeter of copper wire cross-section there is 10 A of current.

It turns out that we will need (take it with a reserve) a cable with a cross section of 4 mm.

The maximum power value of an instantaneous water heater is 8 kW for an apartment. For a higher value, you will certainly have to change the counter. Don’t forget that the meter powers all electrical appliances, not just the water heating device.

Additional protection

Do not forget that any heating device, and especially a water heating device, is a source of increased danger. Don’t be lazy and when changing the wiring, install a separate machine on the device. This will protect other devices, wiring and the meter from short circuits, and the house from fire.

Do-it-yourself instantaneous water heater installation

The principle of operation of the water heater is very simple: the hose supplying water to the shower is connected to the device. Thus, cold water is supplied to the water heater through this hose, it is heated and hot water is supplied through the second hose.

Flow devices do not need to be inserted into the pipeline, as storage devices require. Such devices can be connected to a regular shower. The device is equipped with a separate watering can, but there are also those equipped with a separate tap outlet.

The device is attached to the wall using ordinary self-tapping screws (light weight). Using a level is optional.

Alternatively, you can install a flow-through model so that hot water flows from all taps. Then you have to crash into the pipeline. Installation will be similar to storage type water heaters. But do not forget that such a device will not provide hot water to all taps at the same time.

How to connect a storage water heater

Installing such a device is much more difficult than a flow-through model. Firstly, you will need a lot of space for the device, as it is quite bulky. Secondly, tapping into the pipeline in the case of a storage water heater is mandatory, which adds complexity to installation. Thirdly, you need to take into account the condition of the wall where the device will be mounted, since it itself weighs a lot, and add a certain number of liters of water to boot.

The most popular models have a tank volume of 80-100 liters. This amount of water is enough for a family of 2-3 people.

Since the device stores hot water in a tank, it does not care about distance from taps or showers. The boiler can be installed where it is convenient for you, as long as the wall is strong and the water pipes are located nearby.

Preparatory stage

Tools and equipment that you will need when connecting a storage water heater yourself.

To properly connect a storage water heater, in addition to the necessary tools, you will have to purchase a pair of ball valves, a non-return safety valve, a tube (to drain water), and hooks (to secure the tank to the wall). If the water supply is already connected to the device, then its installation is greatly simplified. Otherwise, you will also have to purchase pipes, tees or a clamp (in the case of a metal pipeline).

In addition, you will additionally need:

  • level;
  • roulette;
  • hammer drill

Before you start installing the tank, you first need to install the pipes for hot and cold water.

How to connect a water heater to a water supply

The communication connection diagram itself is quite simple.

Scheme for connecting a storage water heater to communications. As you can see from the diagram, it doesn’t matter where you cut into the cold water pipeline. How to do further hot wiring - whatever is more convenient for you.

The following elements are indicated by numbers in the figure:

  • 1 and 2 – water supply valves (it is better to install ball valves, they are the most reliable). Using these taps, you can shut off the supply of cold water to the tank and hot water from the device;
  • 3 and 4 – a central tap that shuts off the access of water to the apartment and a tap that shuts off hot water (it is not necessary to install it, since a valve can only be installed at the outlet of the tank);
  • 5 – check valve, which is a mandatory element when installing a boiler and hot water pipeline; (The check valve will protect the heating element of the tank from damage if cold water stops flowing into the device. It also relieves excess pressure from the water heater. Don’t forget to connect a tube to the valve through which water and condensate will flow).
  • 6 – drain valve, which will help drain all the water from the water heater tank when it needs maintenance or repairs. If there is no pressure in the central water supply, then you can always drain the hot water from the tank for your needs.

Important! The water drain tap MUST be located above the check valve, otherwise you will not be able to drain the water from the tank.

Do-it-yourself boiler installation

The main stages of installing a water heater: mark the wall, drill holes, screw in hooks, hang the water heater, connect the water supply.

It is quite difficult to install the device yourself, so you will need the help of another person. The tank is installed as follows:

  1. Find a suitable wall for the appliance. Step back from the ceiling a little more than 10-15 cm and, using a level, make notches for future holes. It is necessary to move away from the ceiling so that the water heater can sit on the hooks.
  2. Drill holes according to the length of the hooks.
  3. First install the dowels (wooden or plastic), then screw the screws into them, but at the same time leaving a small gap for the mounting strip.
  4. Next, lift the tank and hook it onto the hooks.
  5. Now you need to connect the “cold” hose.
  6. And also connect the “hot” hose in accordance with the diagram above.

The last stage is connecting the device to electricity.

How to connect a water heater to electricity

A simple diagram for connecting a water heater to electricity through a regular 220 Volt outlet.

When connecting to the electrical network, a lot depends on the power of the device. If you purchased a tank with a power of up to 3 kW, then it can be connected to a regular outlet or through an extension cord. But more powerful models should be provided with a separate wiring line.

If you want to protect yourself, then you should draw a separate line for the tank directly from the meter. Moreover, it is better to install a separate machine for it. It is not necessary to destroy the wall for such wiring. The wires are routed outside, secured with special brackets. The cross-section is calculated using a method similar to instantaneous water heaters.

A few useful rules when connecting the tank to the electrical network:

  • It is better to position the socket so that water does not get into it (for example, away from the washbasin or shower);
  • do not leave exposed wires in the bathroom, as high humidity may cause a short circuit;
  • do not forget about grounding;
  • do not use tees; the boiler must be connected to a separate outlet or extension cord.

Installing an electric water heater - pros or cons

But what to do if gas is supplied to your apartment? Can I install a gas water heater? Here again there is no clear answer. It will be cheaper to heat water with gas, but installing such equipment will be more expensive and more painful. With an electric tank, things are much simpler. By the way, you won’t have to change it often, but it is highly advisable to service it once a year. Electrical appliances are also considered safer.

What's the outcome

Instantaneous or storage water heater, which one to choose is everyone’s business and depends on the operating conditions. Flow-through models are not at all economical, but their installation is very simple. The second type is more reliable and versatile, but installing a storage water heater is much more difficult.

Unfortunately, even in our time, for many regions of Russia, centralized hot water supply remains a pipe dream. An excellent alternative in such a situation is to buy a water heater or boiler.

Types of water heaters

Currently, stores offer a huge selection of water heaters. You can find both gas and electric heaters. All boilers are distinguished by type of heating:

  • cumulative
  • flow-through

In flow-through heaters, water is heated using heating elements - heating elements. In storage boilers, water is first collected into the tank and then heated. The main differences between electric boilers are the operating principle and the amount of energy consumed. The choice of one or another device depends on your needs.

Self-connection of the boiler

You can install and connect an electric boiler yourself. First you need to decide on the place where you will install the water heater. Correct connection to the electrical network will ensure uninterrupted and safe operation of the boiler. More convenient The easiest way is to install a water heater in the bathroom to make it easier to connect it to the water supply system. If you purchased a storage water heater, make sure that the wall you are installing it on can support the weight. Interior walls and plasterboard partitions are not designed for the maximum weight of the boiler. Place the water heater as close to the water supply pipes as possible.

How to connect the boiler to the electrical network and water supply correctly

Since a double-circuit water heater has quite a lot of power, experts recommend connecting it directly to the distribution panel. Proper connection to the electrical network requires compliance with certain rules:

  • To prevent overloads, install an automatic two-pole switch
  • make sure that the distance from the water heater to the electrical outlet is more than 0.5 meters
  • For maximum safe operation of the boiler, install a residual current device or RCD
  • pay close attention to the grounding of the boiler
  • choose the cross-sectional diameter of the conductor in accordance with the power of the boiler and the expected loads
  • Be careful that the wiring does not come into contact with the water heater and any metalized appliances

When connecting to the water supply, you can use steel, metal-plastic and polypropylene pipes. The boiler connection diagram for any type of pipe has a similar set of actions.

In order to properly install the boiler, you will need a certain set of tools: a tape measure, pliers, an adjustable wrench and a wrench, a screwdriver, shut-off valves, tees, insulation materials, and 2 connecting hoses.

Boiler connection diagram

Any double-circuit storage water heater has the following components:

  • A heating element that heats water
  • thermostat
  • water supply and drainage systems

Find out in advance what kind of water supply system you have. If the wiring is tee, then the supply comes from the plumbing tee. There is also a collector supply scheme, which involves the passage of water through a cold pipeline line.

How to connect a storage boiler to a water supply

First of all, install shut-off valves that will prevent water from flowing in. Cleaning systems are installed above the shut-off valve. Using filters will protect your water heater from scale formation and significantly increase its service life. Many modern water heaters have a built-in outlet for water outlet. If you purchased a device that does not have a drainage system, you will have to install it yourself. The water in the boiler is drained under pressure. To maintain a constant pressure level, a ball valve is installed on the hot water side of the water supply. If such a tap has already been installed on the water heater previously, then there is no need to install an additional one.

At your discretion, you can install a pressure reducer. This device will provide additional safety if water is supplied under high pressure. The pressure reducer is installed after installing the water filter.

How to properly start a water heater after installation work

After installing the pipes and installing the security systems, you can try to start the water heater. To do this you need to perform a number of actions:

  • shut off the water supply to the relevant water supply line
  • ensure water supply to the boiler
  • after filling the tank, turn on the device to the mains

If heated water begins to flow into the water supply, then all the above steps have been performed correctly.

Correct installation of a water heater in an apartment or private house is a universal solution to ensure uninterrupted hot water supply. The condition is especially relevant for residents of apartment buildings, where the hot water supply is periodically turned off (seasonal pressure testing of pipes, prevention, diagnostics, repairs, etc.).

In one of the articles we talked about.

So, the choice has been made, all proposals for installing a water heater by “masters” at exorbitant prices have been rejected, and it has been decided to install the boiler yourself. There is nothing supernatural about the connection, but it will require some tools and attention.

Do-it-yourself storage water heater installation

Before proceeding with installation, it is recommended to determine the load-bearing capacity of the wall where the heating device will be installed. Will it hold up? Still, the weight will be considerable. If there are doubts about the strength of the wall, then you can build a supporting stand or some additional brackets for the device.

Since there will be no need to immediately regulate the temperature, in our case we do not consider the distance from the point of use - we install the boiler where it is convenient for us.

Otherwise, everything is the same as in the case with: we drill holes, drive in dowels and attach the water heater.

Connecting a storage water heater to a water supply - diagram

Installing a storage water heater requires a more thorough approach. In addition, it allows you to use hot water from the device throughout the apartment.

In the diagram we see a typical connection of a water heater (storage) to the water supply.

Designations "hot water" and "cold water"- these are “risers” - two pipes passing through all the apartments of the entrance and supplying them with water (cold and hot).

1-2 – water taps. They shut off or open the circulation of water to and from the tank from the water heater. When the device is working, the taps are opened; when not in use, they are, of course, closed.

3-4 – water taps entering the apartment. They are necessary to shut off the water supply to the apartment.

5 - one of the important elements - check valve. It is necessary to protect the electric water heater heating element from overheating (in the event of a cold water shutdown, the water heater tank is not left without water and its heating elements will not burn out).

To understand, let’s look at the design of a storage water heater; the principle is as follows: water is supplied from below. And if suddenly the water supply is suddenly turned off, all of it will rush into the already empty riser with cold water, the heating elements will begin to heat the air and simply burn out. The check valve is designed to prevent such an accident.

Any good storage water heater includes such a protective device. Be careful when checking the contents!

6 - drain valve- a tap that is designed to empty the water heater storage tank. For obvious reasons, such a tap should be provided when installing a water heating device: before dismantling (if necessary) the water heater, it will allow all the water to be drained from the tank. After all, depending on the capacity of the water heater, the tank may contain 100-150 liters of water….

Attention to the diagram: it is imperative to place the water drain tap above the check valve. Otherwise, you will not be able to empty the tank - water simply will not flow out of the container.

How to use water heater taps (close and open)

"1" and "2" will be needed to turn off the water when the electric heater is not in use. For example, if we needed to remove the last one.

The taps are indicated by numbers in the diagram "3" and "4" are available in any apartment connected to the central water supply, located after the risers, because we sometimes have to turn off the water for various reasons.

Let's pay attention to the tap "4"- it blocks the circulation of hot water between the apartment and the riser while the device is operating. If the tap is not turned off, then all residents of the entrance will be able to use hot water from our water heater - the water will go into the riser.

The main rule of use- if hot water is supplied by the city boiler house, the water heater is in the off mode - “1” and “2” taps are closed, and “3” and “4” are open, respectively. If the boiler room “stands up” for maintenance and the hot water is turned off, we connect our device to the 220V network, open taps “1” and “2”, and close tap “4”.

Connection diagram of a storage water heater to an open tank

In private houses, cottages or dachas where there is no centralized water supply (or for other reasons), water storage tanks are used, which are usually located on the roof. This is not a limitation for using the water heater. The only thing is that the distance from the device to the container must be at least 2 m, and if the pressure in the water supply is more than 6 bar, then it is necessary to install a reducer (at the inlet, in front of the boiler) to reduce the pressure.

Depending on the distance from the top point of the boiler or pumping station, different connection schemes are used.

Connecting the water heater to the electrical network

Since the operation of the water heater requires a connection to a 220V network and mandatory grounding, the best option would be to connect to an existing outlet for a washing machine - via a plug (of course, provided that this outlet is installed on a separate line in compliance with the rules).

If the apartment does not have such an outlet, then it would be best to turn to electricians for qualified help in laying the electrical wiring. There are several reasons for this.

  • First, working with electrical wiring requires certain skills and knowledge, and if certain points are not observed during installation, there is a risk of electric shock or failure of electrical appliances.
  • Secondly, you will have someone to blame for poor quality work. Of course, if you have entered into an agreement with a contractor.
  • And finally, there will be no problems with which wire to choose, which machines to install.

Perhaps this will prompt you to inspect the electrical wiring throughout the apartment.

Well, in conclusion, I would like to wish you pleasant water treatments.

Despite the fact that each apartment has a hot water supply, however, sometimes there are interruptions in its supply. It is in such a situation that a device such as a water heater will help. This device can be installed in any apartment that has a cold water riser. The boiler can be used as an additional source of hot water when it disappears from the taps. It can also act as the main one if the home is not connected to a centralized water supply system.

Currently available on the market different types of water heaters. Along with gas boilers, electric boilers are also available. The use of such equipment should be considered as the most economical way to organize hot water supply in urban housing. A boiler is especially beneficial if water tariffs are higher than electricity tariffs. When faced with the problem of a shortage of hot water, you cannot do without a water heater. But buying a boiler is half the battle. It is even more important to install it correctly and connect this installation to the water supply and electrical network.

How to choose a place to install water heaters?

Uninterrupted operation of the boiler is only possible if the installation work is carried out correctly. Before connecting the water heater, you must decide on its location. In most homes, such equipment is installed in bathrooms in close proximity to water risers. The usual place for its placement is the toilet, since this is where the water supply risers most often pass. The bathroom is less often used to install this unit.

By placing the unit next to the risers, good water pressure is ensured - one of the conditions for trouble-free operation of the boiler. Installation of the water heater is complicated by its heavy weight. To secure it, you need to choose a solid wall. If you decide to place it on a thin partition, it will not be able to cope with such a load and the tank will fall to the floor.

If we talk about the connection diagram this equipment, we note that it is quite simple. The home owner can carry out this work independently without the help of specialists. If you have chosen a toilet as the location for this installation, then you need to position it in such a way that it does not interfere with the use of the toilet. In some cases, when the apartment has an inconvenient layout, two water heaters are placed at once. When it is necessary to provide hot water in the kitchen and bathroom, this is the best solution.

An installation with a large-volume tank is placed in the toilet, since the water consumption there is much greater. And in the kitchen they install a boiler with a smaller capacity. Experts recommend placing the boiler in the kitchen under or above the sink. As for the toilet, in this room the best option for placing this installation is above the toilet or sink.

When the installation location is determined, it is necessary to select a connection diagram. There should be no foreign objects in the immediate vicinity of the equipment. Eat a number of requirements for the installation site things you should know about:

  • No wiring should run near the boiler;
  • near the installation site there should be risers to which the tank and control devices will be connected.

If you decide to install a water heater yourself, you will have to put in a lot of effort. In this case There are three options:

In most cases, you can connect the boiler yourself without any difficulty. If you are determined to do this job yourself, you need to prepare. First of all, you will need certain tools and materials to perform installation work:

When purchasing a boiler, the consumer may find that it comes with Fasteners:

  • First, a metal strip is attached to the wall, on which the unit will later be fixed;
  • then a metal strip is attached to the water heater, which will then be installed on the wall surface using bolts.

When performing this work, you cannot do without using a building level, since one of the installation requirements is that the boiler must be in a strictly horizontal or vertical position.

When the installation of the boiler is completed, it is necessary to carry out equally important work on connecting it to the water supply and electrical network.

Connection to water supply

There are usually no difficulties when connecting the boiler to the water supply network. When performing this work, use a simple installation diagram, which includes choosing the location for installing the device and connecting the pipes. When performing installation work, it is necessary follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Work order

By spending a couple of hours of your time, you can make a high-quality connection of the storage boiler to the water supply.

Boiler installation is best carry out near the place where hot water will be used. This will minimize heat loss.

If the water in the pipes is of poor quality, then to prevent the equipment from breaking down prematurely, it is necessary to connect a filter at the inlet. It is usually not included with an electric water heater, so it will have to be purchased at an additional cost.

If there is no waterproofing of the floor in the room in which the water heating device will be installed, then in this case it is necessary to install a tray. Thanks to it, water will be drained into the sewer through drainage pipes. It is also not included with this equipment, so you need to take care of purchasing them.

Connecting the boiler to the network yourself

The first thing you need to pay attention to is wiring type, used by the storage boiler manufacturer – lower or upper. Before connecting the unit, you should read the manufacturer’s recommendations on how to properly install the device - horizontally or vertically. Please note that some models can be installed using both methods.

Before you start connecting the storage water heater to the electrical network with your own hands, you must turn off the electricity. Then you should disconnect the wires, and only then can you proceed to wiring. Please ensure that the phases are followed during work.

During installation don't forget about grounding. Without it, using the equipment is prohibited, since in this case the risk to the health and life of the owners increases.

Before turning on the electricity, you must close the protective cover of the water heater. You can only open it if you have turned off the power.

Until the boiler tank is at least a third full, the electricity should not be turned on.

Conclusion

Connecting a storage boiler - not such a difficult task, so you can do it yourself. In order for the installation to be of high quality, it is necessary to carefully study the manufacturer’s instructions for installing this equipment before starting work. In addition, during installation you must follow safety rules. In some cases, of course, assistants will be needed. The need for them will arise when connecting a boiler with a large-capacity tank to the wall. Such equipment is quite heavy and it is problematic to install it alone. In this case, you can ask your family for help.

In some cases, installation can be performed by specialists. If you are encountering boilers for the first time and have never worked with wiring before, then in this case there is a high risk that the equipment will not work after installation is completed or its service life will be short. To be sure of the quality of installation, it is worth investing in the services of professional craftsmen. They will install the equipment in a short time.
